Parallel Pain Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I am making youtube videos about my playthrough of the English version of Tears to Tiara II - Heir to the Overlord. Now the TBS SLG part should be no problem. It'll be like any other Let's Plays. But I am making the story part seperate. I already read the Japanese version, and I am also a history buff. So I am making annotations where I can about historical referances and translation commentaries and pointing out mistakes and just general reactions and stuff. My goal is of course to promote the game. My dream is to get it so much sales that Aquaplus makes an anime for it. Yes I know it'll never happen but I can dream right? Now my dilemma is, the game is half ADV half SLG. The visual novel part in fact might even be larger. So by continuing to post the story part, annotations or no, I'd be putting the entire VN on youtube. And people might just watch it and not buy the game anymore. But people might also watch it and get really interested and buy the game. So what should I do. Should I stop uploading the story parts? Or should I keep going? Quote
arakura Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 An insider-ish perspective with an old issue. I can't really help, but I'm interested in what people think Quote
fun2novel Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 It's no different than uploading an entire gameplay playthrough of any other game. So I say upload everything. Btw, what's your youtube channel? Quote
madvanced Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I would say upload it, because even if it had a big ADV part the also big SLG part just cannot be experienced in it's entirety by video. It's the same as the Agarest series or to some extent(it has little ADV content compared to others, but it still exists) the disgaea series. Quote
Kimanor Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Some people, such as myself, might watch an entire game on YouTube only to then buy it if it seemed enjoyable. That's my 27 cents. Quote
Parallel Pain Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Thanks everyone. I'm going to keep uploading. Btw, what's your youtube channel? https://www.youtube.com/user/ParallelPain If you like the game please buy it! Quote
fun2novel Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I was disappointed by the first TtT so I'm not planning to buy the sequel. But who knows, maybe your videos will change my mind. Quote

It's definately leaps and bounds better than the PC version of TtT, which is what I assume you played. Quote
Zakamutt Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Well, it it has multiple paths you could just show one or two. Think that was what Run intended with cockaroo though so no guarantees lol. Quote

Parallel Pain Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Not getting in copyright trouble. Oh... Quote
Cyrillej1 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 The main draw of TtT2 is the story itself I think, and so if someone didn't get interested in it by the first chapter, I doubt they'd even want to buy the game. xD Playing the actual game would be boring if you already knew the whole story by then (just my opinion). So I doubt uploading more than chapter 1-2 will help people buy the game.. but it could increase fans for the actual story of the game, not having played it. Parallel Pain 1 Quote
Parallel Pain Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Ooooh another who's playing TtT2 How far are you? Quote

Zakamutt Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Why did this get into gaming discussion when TtT2 is considered a vn? Quote
Parallel Pain Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Well it was originally about my youtube so...hahahaha... I'm at the beginning of Chapter 9 I think... the shipwreck battle. I'm loving it so far^^ ... it already made me cry a lot because it's so emotional and sweet. -oh by the way, do you know what you get for finishing battles with Bonus Completion? I've been trying to get them all, but I never really know what the actual reward is. Is it just Money, or extra Items? What about getting a high Rank? Glad someone else likes it as much as I do. It stole favourite RPG spot for me. Get more tissue. It's not over yet. Aside from drops from bonus that is killing, I believe it just counts towards rank and getting trophies. Better rank give you different (but not necessarily better) items for completion. Quote
Parallel Pain Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Man, you do love this series a lot... LOL yes I do. Though it's also our chance to tell Leaf/Aquaplus we want their games. Quote
hellish Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 LOL yes I do. Though it's also our chance to tell Leaf/Aquaplus we want their games. I'm a fan of their games too. I played every title released by Aquaplus. Now reading White Album 2 and being greatly moved. YOU SHOULD TRY IT TOO. Parallel Pain 1 Quote

YOU SHOULD TRY IT TOO. It's on my list of things-I-want-to-read-but-probably-will-never-get-around-to-because-of-my-incredibly-bad-work-life-balance. Still haven't touched my ps2 copy of To Heart 2 Quote

hellish Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Do I have to import or is it available on PSN? It seems there's a PSN version. Also Aquaplus always release its games eventually as AquaPlus2800, aka, greatest hit edition, which is much cheaper. Quote
