Symphonic Rain Crashing

[spoiler Alert] I recently downloaded SR from the Fuwanovel page, and have been going through Lise's route. However, it keeps crashing at a particular part, and I can't get past it. It crashes at the line after "What do you mean discipline?" when Chris sees Grave using the stick to tutor Lise. I've trying loading my save in the japanese version of the game, and I am able to get past it. However when I load the save in the english version the wording is all Japanese. Could anyone suggest a fix for this issue?

Anyway, try replacing the Scr_qc.pak in wherever you installed the game with this one (extract it first). To be honest the current fuwa release should be using that already, but I'm not sure at this point...

Also, Zeno might be using confusing terminology here. To me, a thread has always been the bottom-most level, with child forums of main - "the" forum - listed in first view being just forums as well, and children of those being subforums... but on the other hand, it's not the wrong forum overall, just the wrong forum within the fuwanovel forum... I suppose you could just call it the "fuwanovel forums", actually... where was I?

I replaced the file with the one you gave me, but the game still crashes at the same spot.

Did you try clicking ahead a few lines? It's possible that only the first line afterward will be in Japanese, if I remember this correctly...

 

Also, make sure you're loading SR_qc.exe when you want English. I've done this mistake before, believe me.

I believe you could also try fast-forwarding through that specific line as well to prevent the crash.

I'm also encountering this problem. I'm getting the same crash in that same spot, and using that fixed file doesn't stop the crash. Neither does fast forwarding. So, err, is that the right file? Is there something else that can be done? If it works for anyone, could they maybe make a save file for the very next line?

 

edit: Okay, I found a solution! This one should work for everyone.

 

1. Open sr_loc.ini.
2. Set Width=1040 and VNWidth=1015 to something small.
3. Skip past the line in-game.
4. Save.
5. Set it back to the previous values.
6. Done.

 

Copy and pasted from some anon in an archived 4chan thread. None of the other solutions worked for me, but this one did. So if DarkSideoftheSmoof manages to catch this, give it a shot. Same to anyone else who might have this problem.
