Enabling/disabling snowflakes?

For some reason, snowflakes used on the site make the pages extremely laggy. I don't mind if it's only the issue for me, but if that's the case for other people as well - it might be better to come up with a way to enable/disable them at will.

Not a problem for me, but I guess it's pretty nice to have an option for that.

It kinda removes the festive mood of the site though.

There's a problem with it on Firefox, it was also the case last year (the script hasn't changed). I'll try to dig up the thread where it was discussed, I can't remember if there was a solution or a way to disable it...

Hm actually it's not a problem with Firefox itself, it's a combination of having a toaster and some browsers making it worse I think.

Don't think it can be solved but surely there are plugins to disable scripts around.

adblock should be able to disable it.... it never even showed up on torch

It's on a list of things to fix on the front page. Still working on some back-end stuff to make it a reality. I apologize that it's taking longer than I anticipated!

The Christmas theme ended prematurely since it was already removed in the outstanding changes, which I just pushed live.

 

Although I had already removed the snowflakes entirely two days ago.
