crunchytaco Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I've been looking to bring along some VNs on some road trips with me on my tablet. H scenes would bring me too much unwanted attention so I'm wondering what's a good all ages VN I could enjoy at a coffee shop. I heard there were a fews games that had the h scenes cut too by fans. I tried re-write but the art is too childish for my liking. Steins;Gate was incredible. Quote
CLuBLioN Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The only all ages vn I read are Steins;Gate and little busters! and I liked both but I guess the favorite would be little busters! Quote
Bolverk Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 My favorites are Symphonic Rain, Rewrite, steins;gate and ever17 Zalor and Silvz 2 Quote
Tenkuru Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Symphonic Rain, True Remembrance, Narcissu, Planetarian, Little Busters! are all great all-ages VNs, Quote
Nerathim Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Umineko, Higurashi and Rewrite are my favorites. Quote
kyrt Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Generally my favorites are anything by type-moon because the sex scenes in game while hilarious seem forced or just poorly written. If you liked steins;gate give Chaos Head a shot although vastly different and CH is for some reason ridiculously hard to find. Ever 17 (and remember and Never) are brilliant games and definitely worth reading. Higurashi and Umineko are wonderful but they may make you think...just don't think too hard (umineko in particular probably has a place in my top 10). If you want gameplay in it then Aselia isn't a bad game to check out. Honestly a lot of good all age titles. I've compiled a list below of some of the better ones out there (not necessarily great maybe more mediocre for some). Either way check review scores, read a description, ask around the forum, or whatever there is quite a bit to choose from. Either way hope this list helps. 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors (gameplay and 3DS) Aselia the Eternal (has srpg gameplay) Brass RestorationChaos;Head (licensed by JAST) Cho Degeki StrykerDa Capo Innocent FinaleDysfunctional Systems Episode 1: Learning to Manage Chaos Ever17: The Out of Infinity Eve Exodux Guilty SeriesFate/Stay Night (Realta Nua patch)fault milestone oneGo! Carronade Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Symphonic Rain, Stens;Gate, Ever 17, Remember 11 and Umineko are my favorites. If you want something with gameplay, Aselia the Eternal is also pretty good. Quote
SuperSonix9 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 How is everyone forgetting the awesomeness that is Clannad? That is the only real all-ages VN of Key. [Little Busters! does have a 18+ version, but of course I didn't play it. Only the thought of the lolis...] Quote
kyrt Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Hell's bells how did I forget Clannad!? I corrected my above post with a link to the clannad kickstarter. It might have been something with the first poster commenting they didn't like Rewrite so none of us suggested it to them. Quote
Life Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Little Busters is probably my favourite. There are so many other good ones though. Quote
Zodai Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Definitely Umineko. Without a doubt. A small part of my mind says F/SN has an all-ages patch existing somewhere, but it might be a bit difficult to find. I've just got it on the mind right now Quote

It might have been something with the first poster commenting they didn't like Rewrite so none of us suggested it to them. I tried Rewrite as well, but didn't like it at all. It just has some terrible humour in it and just cannot relate to the characters. Little Busters! is a really good one, but not as good as Clannad in my opinion! [both tearjerkers, though] Quote
Zakamutt Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Ever17, Rewrite, True Remembrance, Higurashi, CLANNAD, Symphonic Rain, Steins;Gate. You know, there really aren't that few good translated all-ages VNs all things considered... Quote
Snowtsuku Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Obviously it is Symphonic Rain for me. Clannad or Little Busters comes second. Quote
Christfall Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ever17 (my first VN), Root Double. Naturally both are written and directed by the same person. Quote
Ariurotl Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Chaos;Head and Ever17. I'm yet to read Steins;Gate though. Quote
fun2novel Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ever17 (my first VN), Root Double. Naturally both are written and directed by the same person. First, I love you! Second, I wouldn't exactly say they are all ages. The stories are pretty mature and complex. And Root Double has its very dark moments. Quote
bigbossbalrog Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Akaiito and Aoishiro if you don't mind Yuri and Vampires. Nothing matches the production value, and amount of obscure Japanese mythology references. Quote
