havoc Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 desert punk also has a great dub, and its hilarious. To prove my point, have some bloopers from the dub. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5dLevTRF-0 Quote
SanadaShadow Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I can give you a list of plenty of dubbed anime, however... My standards are rather low. If there isn't any character I can't stand, or if there isn't any voice that is just plain wrong, I usually listen to the dub. Â Here's probably my top contender, one in which I'd watch in both languages: Steins;Gate - has a unique dub, in which it changes the personality of various characters, and it still fits both the animation and the characters themselves. Â Â Â Really? Quote
Kosakyun Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Â Â Really? Â I haven't even watched the anime, but I have always loved this sonnuvabitch. Quote
SanadaShadow Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I haven't even watched the anime, but I have always loved this sonnuvabitch. What I meant by my post was that the EN ver. is more plot-focused while the JP ver. is more comedy-focused. All in all, we don't need the EN version. JP works much better, in my opinion. Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Before heading to bed i decided, today i finally start something i've been putting off for ages. Yes, today i start Hunter x Hunter Watched the first episode just now, i barely know anything about it, but all i know is that it's definitely got my attention and i was not bored. I'll definitely do about 6-8 episode marathons of it per day if it's good. I miss this feeling of just enjoying an anime and not thinking too much, it's really what i live most about these shounens. So yes, hopefully my anime watching habits are back in full force, thank you Hunter x Hunter for piking my interest. Quote

I remember when I started watching Naruto. I had around 450 episodes to catch up and I watched them in one month or two. The feeling when the story was awesome and you don't have to wait one week for the next episode were so satisfying. It was the same with One Piece too. Watching a whole epic arc without break. Priceless.  On topic now. I am currently watching Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki - kun. I really enjoy it. Quote

Mr Poltroon Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I'm not sure that's the case, but even if it was, the visual novel was way more about the plot and how it all worked than any comedy. I only remember there being a few really funny moments (usually involving Daru). So... A few? I have never laughed as much at anything than I did at Steins;Gate. When Okabe says something, important or otherwise, and suddenly a retort comes from somewhere or he gets cut off. His voice actor voiced the following lines marvelously. He just makes a esjkfsdjkfbsd noise kind of thing. I need to find and record one of those someday. It will forever remain as one my favourite gaming moments, when I first heard him do that, because I do the exact same thing. Â Â What I meant by my post was that the EN ver. is more plot-focused while the JP ver. is more comedy-focused. All in all, we don't need the EN version. JP works much better, in my opinion. English version of Rintaro sounds so much better to me. Hilariously eloquent, and he just generally seems smarter, which makes his mad scientist personality have a different take than in the Japanese Version, in which he was just plain delusional. Â Daru was also funnier in the English version, I thought, but that may be just me. He acts as Okabe's straight man and has some pretty funny comments, instead of sounding stupid (even if hilariously so). Quote
Aniki Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Recently finished Zankyou no Terror. My watchlist is empty. Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I've finished watching Soul Eater. While episode 47 was bonkers, I'm reasonably satisfied with the ending. Kid is a character I really like. Black Star has a very generic design and a very simplistic character (they can tiptoe around it all they want, he just wants to be an attention hog). Maka's character seems to be a bit harder to grasp. I took her for a Tsundere but then she turned all nice on Chrona. I thought she was the straight man but that's Kid's job, as she seems to have irrational fits and crybaby moments for no good reason. Soul is mostly cool, but I'm not one who gets anime logic, so sometimes he says stuff I think is really stupid but then turns out to be common sense in that world. (Except for how bravery is apparently the cure for madness and how that's the way Maka exorcises the black blood)  I'll probably watch Spice and Wolf next, but I'm reading Soul Eater manga first. Heizei_koukousei Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I'm now watching Maria Holic Alive I challenge you to find a dual audio torrent for it. I'm certain it doesn't exist. But I'm currently making one in 1080p using the Commie sub. I can't find a quality English audio though... I ripped one off a shitty flv torrent but it kinda grainy Quote

However, I didn't find it one of the greatest moments, but it was still so hilarious. Â I preferred when he was spewing nonsense. It just felt more... Natural to me than smart Okabe. Daru, on the other hand, really needs a leg up. I felt he was played a lot better in the English version. Quote

Honestly, I'm terribly biased with both the voice actor, and eloquent people, so I wouldn't take my opinion as anything more than that, an opinion. Quote
Kosakyun Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Officially stalling Monogatari Second Season until Coalgirls releases Koimonogatari and Hanamonogatari. KnK is 26.8GB. RIP hard drive. Quote

Down Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Oh the despair. I hope it gets a reboot. In case my point was not clear, I meant that okay the anime is not perfect by any means (the way they adapted the story has flaws and from a technical standpoint it's terribad), but holy god dammit that OST is great. Â Also there probably won't be a Tsukihime anime remake before the VN remake, so we're probably talking 2025 here. Quote

There was a scheduled remake for the VN. It's been so long since the announcement that it slipped my mind. Oh well. My hope lies on ufotable. Based ufotable man.  Meanwhile, considering if I should watch Kimi ni Todoke Season 2 first or continue watching Beelzebub (currently at Episode 20). Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I know. I shouldn't even be using the meme in the 1st place since I haven't watched or read Tsukihime. I just like tossing it out every once in a while. I'm aware of the OST though, and I do think they're very impressive. Â Â Finished Zetsumetsu Kigu Shoujo today. I decided to pick it up a while ago when I saw it come up on a fansub blog, and had to wait a bit for the 2nd episode. The animation quality was very good, and it had a very nice direction approach. 1st episode showed potential and I felt it was a pretty emotional experience, can't say the same for the 2nd though. It didn't have enough build-up for the kind of drama it was going for, which is too bad when you consider the 1st episode's potential. That said, the fights were really fun to watch and the girls were cute. The ending was pretty heartwarming. Â I like it when things end on a happy note. Â Could have been great if it was full-length series. Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Having watched 30 episodes of Hunter x Hunter I can safely say I really like it. The characters are entertaining and the pace is really nice, the whole anime just feels engaging and it has yet to bore me one bit. I love the long arcs that can only be done by these kind of anime. I'm really thoroughly enjoying it and I'm glad I started it. I even use my lunch breaks to watch a couple episodes before class. Â I hope that it will get even better later on, I look forward to more of it. Quote
