It's not that hard to watch longer anime, just make some free time in your list and prioritize it. You'll realize it's not that bad if you enjoy the show.

It took me less than a month to watch every Gintama episode.

Also you can still watch other things on the side, just think of it as a longer on-going show.

You can also spread it out over 6+ months, like I did. Just watch an episode or an arc when you feel like it (you should often feel like it).

Exactly. I want to do it Nosebleeds way, but I can't. So I'd have to do it your way, which is slightly more bothersome.

All i can say is, if you enjoy the show, cramming hundreds of episodes in some weeks isn't that hard.

You quickly realize wether or not the show is for you, and then you watch it whenever you feel like it.

In my case i loved Gintama so i could easily watch 15 episodes a day sometimes, but other times i only watched a couple.

Same thing with Hunter x Hunter, it just feels natural to watch it, you have fun and time flies by before you notice.

Longer anime have a charm that 1/2 cour anime usually never achieve. The longer timeslot allows for much more detailed character and story progression. Everyone should try watching a 100+ anime at least once, you'll realize it's not that bad.

I like watching some anime in a spread out way. It's cool having a show accompany you during a significant period of time. I did that with Gintama over 6 months, with the whole Precure series over a year, with Doremi, etc... If the show lends itself to it, it's a great experience.

I kinda do what Down does, but then I forget about it and it goes on forever.  I'm like 450 some episodes into One Piece and over 100 in Fairy Tail and I'm not too anxious to get into that again.  While good, I like to watch a story and have it wrap up.  If it's good, future seasons are nice though.

I don't watch Gintama because I'm a hipster :makina:

Also, I watched like 20 clips (I know not much) but not a single one of them even made me chuckle. All these clips people are like "OH SO FUNNY" and I'm just

Heh I always felt like no one will find Gintama funny unless they actually watch the show and know the characters, a lot of the jokes are on-going gags and stuff and unless the anime has grown on you, it will likely not move you much.

there's a reason each new season of Gintama scores higher and higher on most anime sites

I'm not saying anything about Gintama, since I've not seen it, but I can't resist commenting on this particular point... this trend seems to be generally true about crowd ratings of shows, except for extremely exceptional cases (read: Haruhi). There is a very obvious reason why an increase in rating for later seasons would occur, completely independent of actual relative quality within a show's lifetime: simple self-selection. Most of the time, if someone doesn't like a show, they stop watching it rather than moving on to the next season. So later seasons of shows are seen almost exclusively by people who enjoyed earlier seasons, and not seen by people who either didn't watch or didn't like the earlier seasons, resulting in later seasons having higher ratings than earlier seasons, regardless of whether they're actually better.

The effect is most pronounced when going from Season 1 to Season 2, but it seems to pretty much continue through the lifetime of a long-running show (unless/until the show completely screws up, of course; again, Haruhi). I looked at the only two long-running shows I could think of which have separate ratings for each of their seasons: MariMite and Natsume Yuujinchou. Ratings for both of them show this trend pretty perfectly, on both MAL and animenewsnetwork.com's ratings.

Side note: MariMite is way up there on my list of "favorite things ever", and everybody should watch it. I really need to finish setting up my MAL so I can link it from my profile, but there are so many things to add and I'm so lazy...

Drop YuYuShiki. The art isn't good, the characters aren't interesting to watch, and nothing happens. I have no problem with Slice of Life as a genre (I really liked Non Non Biyori, for instance), but you at least need to have characters that are fun to watch to pull it off; YuYuShiki is just bad.

I understand that side of it as well, but I can confidently say the latter seasons of Gintama get better, i don't see these scores in particular as some sort of fluke. If anything i'll just say the absolute value is inflated but the relative value is accurate.

I know the fandom is crazy too and i account for it, but season 1 of Gintama is way up there in terms of ratings, even accounting for those who dropped it, hence why I stand by these statistics in particular. I'm not saying they're not inflated, they are always, but it's also a fact most anime fans enjoy Gintama and usually rate it fairly high and the latter seasons get better in terms of quality, so the scores are actually fairly representative of the experience to be honest.

I'm not saying you have to give it a 9 or 10, but the latter seasons are objectively better than the first one for most people.

Sure this might just be opinion based in the end, but even if i didn't pull out the scores, i'd still tell you Gintama only gets better as it goes, even if you don't think it's a 10/10 anime.

Point is, just watch Gintama already.

Also Yuyushiki is not that bad, it's pretty standard gag SoL, although nothing does happen indeed, but at least it was better than that Lucky Star thing.

I found it quite heartwarming, though i don't think it's most people's cup of tea.

I didn't like Yuyushiki either, but slice of life is a bit of a weird beast. It's hard to say in advance if you'll like a SoL or not, there's something that has to click with you.

And I'll add that Yuyushiki had extremely good character animation, for those who care about that aspect.

Naruto Shippuden. :makina:

What's 1/2 cour?

Ninja Slayer. It was...interesting. Look forward to seeing more.

You say it was interesting, and we seem to have some similar tastes, so maybe you could tell me why you liked it?

If you've seen Inferno Cop and liked it this is pretty much the same thing. It's funny and it's quite cool at times. No special reason on liking it besides that it's just fun to watch.

What's 1/2 cour?

Naruto Shippuden would have been good if they actually followed the manga instead of turning 70% of the anime into useless filler.

A cour is a three month period during which an anime is broadcasted.

There's 4 cours in a year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall)

The most used terms are one cour and two cour.

A one cour anime is an anime that lasted for one season and typically refers to anime that have 12 -13 episodes

A two cour anime is an anime that lasted for two seasons and typically refers to anime that have 24 - 26 episodes

Since anime usually don't air for longer than this anymore the term three/four cour is not really used.

There's also split cour which are anime that air in two seasons with a break in between.

In case you didn't get it, I meant I literally cant do it this way. I don't humanly possess the time to watch more than 3 or 4 episodes a day at most. Which is why it'll take a few months and that's somewhat bothersome.

(Look at him say "cramming hundreds of episodes in some weeks isn't that hard.", tsk, damn NEET's)

Anyways, I'll try it out once I eventually finish some of the anime I've already started on.

I watched Gintama when I was in school, still took me less than  a month.

Sure school is not a job, but I didn't have as much free time as I have now.

But even if you only watch 3 or 4 episodes a day, it can still be pretty enjoyable.

I marathoned the first two seasons of Teekyuu now.....

I wanted to do all seasons in a row actually, but it seems that´s impossible without having a seizure.

Currently I can watch about 4-6 episodes each day and that is provided that I'm not doing anything else(reading vn/surfing random stuff on the net) that day.

I have watched some long series (namely DBZ, Fairy Tail, Bleach). And yeah they are interesting, but it is also true that you basically have half the time left to watch other stuff for a couple of months. And it becomes really messy when you have other things to do.

I probably won't be getting the time for Gintama till next year(when I expect my free time to double).

^^^^^^

Look at this pleb I bet he doesn't even read 20 chapters of manga per day.
