Increase Number of Recent Topics to 10?

I like looking at the new topics that are put out, but sometimes there are a lot that come very quickly, and sometimes I miss one or two topics I would have been able to contribute to.

 

We have plenty of white space, any chance we can double the number of recent topics?

I generally use the "view new content" button, but I suppose it doesn't really do the same thing since it also gets updated topics (and these days you'll prolly have to go to page 2 if you want to catch everything.) That said, not entirely relevant to this.

In total agreement, seeing the latest 10 threads would more accurately showcase recent forum activity than only 5. And yeah, we do have plenty of blank space available.

These sorts of changes require changes (manual or plugins) to the forums software, and from what I can tell, there isn't a good or secure plugin to give us this functionality (and it's not something I can afford to spend our coders' manpower on at the moment). IP Board is getting a big upgrade soon, and maybe we'll see some of these features come through.

I suggest using the New Content function, and advanced search options (cog wheel in top right corner) to see new content and topics from a certain time period.

 

 

I'd definitely recommend waiting for the next version - since we're running a legitimate version we're eligible for the upgrade anyways, and installing anything right now would probably just mean a plugin/hook breaking, since most of them are pretty hacky (and dangerous to the forum's stability for that matter).

 

Same thing applies for the advanced tagging functionality that came up the other week, the plugin I tried managed to break the entire layout of Hollow Beats.

Just saw the update. I actually like 10. I vote for it to stay at 10.

It does look long indeed.

I don't see any problem with it/I'm not bothered by it, but if people complain, maybe we can compromise to make it 5 (with scrollbar to 10 edit: or w/e number you want xD)

If there's a scrollbar you might as well go full retard and just stick 20 of them in there.

So far I like 10 a lot more than 5.

I, too, approve of ten. Should a scroll-bar be implemented, I see no reason for it not to be 20 instead.
