EldritchCherub Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I'll be frank, my voting for Supernatural is just part of my master plan to get more people to watch Shinsekai Yori. I wouldn't mind watching this one again. I feel like I missed a lot of important elements when it first came out. I could write an entire essay just cause of all the dense sociological themes packed into it.  I remember I hated Squealer so much after I finished it. Quote

Down Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I vote for anything Down doesn't like The thing is, I rarely manage to actually finish things I don't like/am not interested in, so I can't complain too much about how it's bad I still do of course. Ranting about anime is my #1 pleasure in life. Quote
kyrt Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Time for my review on  Selector Infected/Spread WIXOSS ...I'm in the opposite opinion of most people.  Story: The story for the series was ridiculously bland and very cliche you could always tell what was going to happen before it was going to happen (except for those moments when it was so ridiculously unexpected that it lost credibility). The first season I would rate a tad higher than the second season but the second season was ridiculously bad at pacing and the plot was just very uninteresting. A lot of this has to do with how it felt rushed...and it was and also possibly without a proper direction. I think had the series been split into longer seasons for both the first and second season I would have enjoyed the series more than I did. The series lacked suspense and really just development in general that I ended up not caring for characters or story. It could have been something decent but it ended up being ridiculously mediocre.  Story = 6/10 (5/10 for season 2)  Characters: I really hated most of the characters in this anime and not because they were specifically made to be hated but I hated the fact that I hated them. I shouldn't have. The characters really seemed to lack depth and personality beyond the typical stereotypes. I would have liked to see more backstory or perhaps become attached to characters over a longer period of time. I didn't feel like I knew or cared for any of the characters at any particular time. Ruko and Tama were very annoying and simply poor characters in general. It's unfortunate that Ruko was the MC...admittedly of the type that generally hates anime of characters all of one genre so I was bias before watching it and that admittedly is not really helping matters.  Characters = 5/10  Soundtrack:  The general mood of the anime was for the most part fitting with the actual story and although they used dramatic music a bit too much I thought the soundtrack for the most part fit. It was nothing special and I didn't care for the OP or ED for either season but the music wasn't absolutely shit (surprising considering the show in all).  Soundtrack = 7/10  Art: I was not very fond of the art style even though the animation was pretty fluid at times...definitely saw some moments that could have used some improvement. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen but neither was it the best. I also felt the color scheme just felt off at times and think the show would have benefited from a few more cheerful colors (if that makes sense?).  Art/Animation = 6/10  Enjoyment: It was a bore to watch and I disliked quite a bit about it. T the plot felt flawed in multiple places and rather than regaining my interest as it went on I kept wishing I could watch something better. I can't really say I enjoyed watching it. I think that had the series been longer and we had more time to develop proper opinions on the characters and get a more in depth explanation about things and an enhancement to the story then I might have enjoyed it. As it was though my enjoyment was pretty low,  Enjoyment = 5/10  Overall 6/10 (now this is not completely horrible overall and the show didn't make me to guage my eyes out for how bad it was I just didn't really enjoy watching it. It was a mediocre anime and just didn't seem to hit my particular interests.  Death Parade Episode 4:  I am continuing to greatly enjoy this series and this episode in particular was quite interesting and makes me think that we'll begin to get to the full plot soon. It also looks like we'll be meeting a new character in the next episode. I really like how they are able to take characters put them in this same situation and yet write very different stories for each. This one in particular was very interesting and really got one to think about what we leave behind when we die. Rather enjoyed it even if most people probably won't.  I also wish to participate in the next cycle and offer up  Sumomomo Momomo for the Comedy genre. Quote
FinalChaos Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Death Parade episode 4 Another well executed episode. The amount of characterisation done for a character who only stays one episode is simply a lot. And all those little bits of character development for the arbiters is wonderful to watch. Next episode will most likely introduce new characters and tell us more about the life of the arbiters. Quote
Stray Cat Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 Reminder that we're supposed to be done with Selector by Monday (I'm marathoning now).  Also, I figure I'd go ahead and announce that the next genre is going to be I can start taking sign-ups now. Quote

Down Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Action, eh... Â I guess I'll pick something that has a chance to be voted for. Not like Evangelion. Â How about Michiko to Hatchin? Quote
Stray Cat Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 Actually, I have a better idea.  As the club leader, every time I win, the genre will be "Grab-Bag".  This means you can recommend any anime as long as it fits the rules (episode length, etc).  So anything you've wanted to share for so long but haven't had the chance, go for it. Quote
FinalChaos Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I recommend Baccano! I already have Baccano just waiting to be seen by me for a couple of weeks now....... plus it has genre tags of both supernatural and action. Quote
