I've watched NGE 5 times and I still get something out of it every time.

And imo the few people who'll watch it and not dislike it for the usual reasons should watch End of Evangelion too, it really goes with the series.

End of Evangelion is pretty good, I liked it more than the series.

 

And Eva itself was good experience the first time I watched it, but it was kind of exhausting, that's why never thought about watching it again.

 

But mostly I'm just salty because I wanted to watch something else.

But the other winning option seemed to be Kare Kano (which I've already seen, and although it's really good I didn't want to rewatch it), and to be honest I couldn't resist at the idea of seeing some people's first reaction to Eva, it's always interesting :3

Watching Eva again is not as bad as I initially thought. You start to notice certain things... And man does it play with your emotions.

Arc action is episode 8 to 15. That's when you'll get all the cool animation, wacky comedy and fun fights of the series.

And yes, it goes hand in hand with Asuka's arrival.

 

(I'm tired as fuck lately and feeling like shit so I don't know when I'll start my rewatching of the series... Hopefully next week)

Excellent. Looking forward to it. I'm actually excited at what will happen. Though I do agree that there are a lot of scenes that just flat-out drag. Like them staring scenes. Wtf are you looking at, Shinji?

Yeah, the pacing in Evangelion is a bit different from modern series. It's kinda contemplative at times, with a lot of fix shots where nobody talks (especially the part where nobody talks is unusual: your typical anime is very talkative), closer to what you'd see in a movie.

I like that a lot, like most parts of the series, but it makes sense for some people to find it weird.

It has its appeal, that's for sure. I find it too long sometimes, though.

They just stared at each other for so long at that train station in Episode 5, man. But after that, Shinji say, "I'm home."

God that hit hard. It was beautiful, honestly.
