solidbatman Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Getting excited! Just a little while longer and I'll get to see how this wraps up. Congrats to you InvertMouse. It's been a fun ride. Quote
Ryoji Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Indeed, Im finally caught up and I am very impressed. Respect to Mouse for doing such an amazing job. Really cant wait for ep 10! Quote
InvertMouse Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 Thank you shcboomer, solidbatman and Ryoji! And to everyone else, of course. With that said, please enjoy the last episode of Unhack m(_ _)m! Here it is: http://unhack.invertmouse.com/game There's a Facebook button on the page's bottom. Zakamutt Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Since all eps are now out, I decided to play through everything again marathon-style. Due to the amazing ease of puushing, I've captured some screenshots of what I consider to be potential issues, whether they be game-design problems or (mostly) writing that could be better. I'll also not that in general the worms in level 1 and maybe 2 move extremely slowly to the point of having to wait for too long (but still have fairly short timewindows to make your moves). Additionally, the stutterring is still there and noticeable. Firefox seriously uses 25% cpu when unhack is running for some reason. No idea why, turned off avast web shield and my autoreload stuff in case they did anything. I only used arrow keys, since mouse is pretty stressful for me (mine sucks for various reasons combined with my mousepad etc). Commentary on eps 9 and 10: great stuff. Some of it was predictable, some not so, but it was well executed. Especially the music changes in ep 10 really made the ep. Spoilered stuff will include spoilers and puush links with commentary: From a CS standpoint, having a motherworm is a bit... weird. Then again, AIs and memeditor etc. What I'm more concerned about is the 5K worms still spreading rampantly throughout the interwebs. I mean, I don't see why they would die when the motherworm dies... Well well. The motherworm sprite looked a bit off sometimes and I would've liked it to have one of its expression changes at a certain point. I'm also somewhat disappointed we don't get an over 9000 awesomepoints fusion sprite of debug2 and dark weedy. That said, let's get to the stuff I picked up: http://puu.sh/3fqFM "stands unwavered" feels like pretty unnatural english. "Stands unchanged..." perhaps "remains unchanged"? http://puu.sh/3fqQR "Keep a look out" feels unnatural. Should prolly be "keep an eye out" http://puu.sh/3fr8A Possibly just "trust and support each other". It's possible the somewhat stilted speech is an AI thing, I guess. http://puu.sh/3fqWP "too" is a typo http://puu.sh/3frdg "leaks" http://puu.sh/3frkS "entrusted".. maybe "the one I trusted most..." http://puu.sh/3frNW You can't go through the middle of that red thing, which is unintuitive. http://puu.sh/3fs2r "make her afraid" could probably be better. Not sure how. http://puu.sh/3fs4i "mothermorm" oops http://puu.sh/3fs7m This entire segment feels like it's written in the wrong tense to me. Should go for "nobody knows what happened to x..." and continue in that tense for the next messages. I'll also not that it maybe was a bit too slow for the amount of content presented. Not sure. Usually a long credits list and funny background events would be scrolling at this point. http://puu.sh/3fs8E why exactly is the world hopeful for the return of a potentially mad AI? I mean, who even knows of her involvement in all this? Other remarks: for boss levels, you could have the various hazards in boss fights break up faster (by increasing their speed or whatever) if you reach the safe square at the beginning of each course. Would eliminate some waiting for keyboard players (and make you feel 1337 if you were faster than necessary). Quote
shcboomer Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 That was a great ride, 10 whole episodes of enjoyment from me. Quote
DrKleiner Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I love it! Short and sweet, straight to the point. Kudos to you Invert for making this amazing story. Quote
Ryoji Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Wow, amazing Mouse!!! After 10 episodes, I cant help but say I want 10 more!! Seriouosly epic and fun to play, Im recommending it to all my Marine brothers!!! They are really loving it. Thank you for creating such a great game thats so fun to play. Kudos to you my friend!! Cant wait to see what you come up with next. Quote
Ashadow700 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Ok - that was awesome. Like seriously Invertmouse, it was really good. Just uh.... one little thing.... just a tiiiiiiiny, tiny detail. You know all those forcefields in the last episode? I was not supposed to be able to walk right through them, was I? Hehe, that was a fun glitch. Also, two other things I noticed which might make the last episode a bit better: When Weedy fused with the motherworm the screen was shaking a tad too much for my liking. It almost felt like it was going to give me a seizure. I know it's there for dramatic effect, which I'm all for, but I think you might wanna tone it done just a little bit. Also, when you are chasing after Perfect Weedy I noticed that the music stops playing for a brief moment before it replays. This short moment of silence kind of took the tension out of the scene, so I think it would be better if you could manage make the music fade between the first time it plays and the second time it replays. Sure, it would still be noticeable, but it would be considerable less noticeable then the way it is now. Other then that though - splendid! You had better keep making games or I'm going to be very, very Quote
InvertMouse Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Thank you for playing the final episode everyone m(_ _)m! Zakamutt, thanks for your feedback . I'll act upon your responses as I deem necessary. It's much appreciated m(_ _)m. Thank you shcboomer, Dr Kleiner and Ryoji! Thanks Ashadow700, but oh no , how did you cause the glitch to happen? I'd love to fix that up if I could. I'll also see if I can act on those suggestions mentioned under the spoiler tag. Thank you . I do indeed have plans to build more games in the future. Trying to see if I can make something of this. For now, though, I'm actually to put Unhack onto Steam Greenlight. I'm currently making preparations for that. When that happens, please consider taking the time to vote for the game! I need all the support I can get. Thank you m(_ _)m. I'll be back with news as they come. Quote
Ashadow700 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Hey InvertMouse. I really don't know how I caused that glitch. I literally could just walk right through them. Almost as as if they were not even there. If you need any information about my computer specifications or browser settings to solve this then tell me and I'll dig it up. Quote
InvertMouse Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Hey InvertMouse. I really don't know how I caused that glitch. I literally could just walk right through them. Almost as as if they were not even there. If you need any information about my computer specifications or browser settings to solve this then tell me and I'll dig it up. It's all good. I can add a force check to make sure it never happens again. Thank you for the help ! Quote
InvertMouse Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 A few folks have really kindly asked if I'll be making a new game. Yes, I'm interested in doing that for sure. Right now, though, I've still got plans for Unhack. I wanted to share them here today: http://www.invertmouse.com/?p=368 Thank you for everyone's continued support . Quote
Zakamutt Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Someone asked for how the browser on android tablet scored in html5test... it actually gets 422 points... however, it does miss one thing that might be a problem: in user interaction / events, nothing is supported for drag and drop: this is this only thing that desktop browser has and mobile doesn't... oh, and my chrome mobile / default browser had like 322 points lol Quote
shcboomer Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Thanks for the good news InvertMouse, as I said before, when the game gets on Greenlight I'll share and vote for it. Quote
Ashadow700 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Well, this is a bit of a thread Necrosis (please don't ban me moderators! ) I recently made a video review of InvertMouse's Unhack and he asked me to share it with the rest of you, so please enjoy (I hope). Any feedback that you can give me on the video itself will be more the appreciated since I need all the criticism I can get to improve at this "video-making-thing". Quote
Zakamutt Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Umm, but it isn't the only one,. there's No One Has To Die too... Quote
Ashadow700 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Umm, but it isn't the only one,. there's No One Has To Die too... Oh... Well, I guess I should have made my research better. I changed the title of the video. Thanks for pointing that out. Quote
InvertMouse Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Thank you for the review Ashadow700 ! Quote

I'd really appreciate it m(_ _)m: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=165693317 I'll be doing media pushes to get additional views. If you own a blog, YouTube channel etc and would like to arrange something, please do contact me! I'll be happy to get involved. Thank you! Quote
shcboomer Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 You had me at Unhack, but on a more serious note, voted. Quote
InvertMouse Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Thank you guys! Unfortunately the game is doing poorly on Greenlight right now... Folks are saying the artwork is terrible among other things. I'll be responding by looking at hiring an artist. A lot of feedback were said in hurtful ways but they still gave me things to work on. I'll be holding on doing media pushes until the next build is done. Down votes contribute toward nothing so I'll keep the game on the Greenlight page for now. Thank you! Quote
Zakamutt Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I never thought the art was that bad really... All I can say. The greenlight crowd is not a very nice one from what I have seen, as well. Quote
Nayleen Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Greenlight is an absolute mess right now in regard to what gets greenlit and what not. Your game still seems a whole lot better than the crap I've seen get through that stupid voting system. Quote

Ouch, some people I tell you... Feels kind of like 4chan reading those comments. People and their anonymity online at times really hurts the system. However, free speech is a necessary evil. Quote
