Yes it's that time of year where everyone can show appreciation for their favorite mathematical constant and the most genius thing to be invented in the culinary arts!

To show appreciation of the wonderful pi I want to hear what peoples thoughts on pi/pie are.

1) How many digits of pi have you memorized?

2) How often do you use pi?

3) What is your favorite kind of pie?

4) Do you prefer pie or cake?

  1. 3.1415 - That's as far as I got.
  2. A couple times a week? I like maths, so my sister sometimes teaches me her high school problems and exercises.
  3. I cannot recall having ever eaten pie... Actually, that's a lie. I think I ate duck pie at a party not too long ago. But maybe that's not even called pie.
  4. Can't make a fair comparison, but I'll go with cake.

  • Pi is for scrubs, e master race
  • Never because I quit math.
._.

Hmm. 3.14159(27?)

I use it regularly as a math student

Hard one, but probably French silk.

Pi is way better than cake.

Yay! Fun fact: The Greek letter π is actually pronounced "pee." That doesn't mean that "pie" is wrong in English, though, so don't go around being all elitist to your friends. -_-

1) How many digits of pi have you memorized? 3.1415926, because that's as far as my grade-school calculator will go.

2) How often do you use pi? Whenever I'm running low on fun facts; often.

3) What is your favorite kind of pie? Shepherd's.

4) Do you prefer pie or cake? You are a heathen for asking such an obvious question.

1. 3.1  ... I round stuff to the nearest tenth. Screw Pi.

2. Never. I study linguistics not mathematics.

3. Pumpkin pie and apple pie.

4. Tut tut. LET THEM EAT CAKE.

......... I prefer pie. :D

2. I use the integral.gif ex every day with the ladies (+1 of course!)

integral.gif ex (dx) = integral.gifd-dx.gif (ex) dx = ex + 1

I also throw some pies in there...cream pies that is. :scottsune:

3. I like chocolate pie

4. Cake is the best thing ever

1) How many digits of pi have you memorized? - 3.14

2) How often do you use pi? - A few times a year / whenever encountered in math subjects

3) What is your favorite kind of pie? - Pumpkin pie > Apple Pie > Blueberry Pie

4) Do you prefer pie or cake? - Cake. fk pies. LOL

2.Haven't had to use that in like forever.....

3. Apple pie..but not too much cinnamon

4.cake only If it is ice cream cake or cheese cake, otherwise I'd stick with pie

integral.gif ex (dx) = ex + 1

Bro do you even antiderivative.

Yeah, (d/dx)ex=ex, so the indefinite integral of ex is also ex + C, that C obviously being a constant, because the derivative of any constant (0 included) is 0.

But who's to say that the constant is 1? What makes 1 better than everyone else? You think we 4 peasants aren't cool enough for you? Is -7,260,833 out of the club too?

Maybe you got your shizzle mixed up with your chain rule, or should I say, your BANE rule. When you're taking the derivative of a number with an exponent, the derivative of the exponent is MULTIPLIED by the remaining term, not added to.

In other words, (d/dx)ex=(1)(ex)=ex, not (d/dx)ex=1+(ex)=ex+1. :jinpou:

Of course, for that mistake to happen, you'd have to be making the additional mistake of taking the derivative, not the indefinite integral (and thus, in this case, antiderivative) of ex, which clearly goes against the ∫ that you posted in image form. L2charactermap

I'm 12, and what is this?

Basically only the first line "Yeah, (x)ex=ex, so the indefinite integral of ex is also ex + C, that C obviously being a constant, because the derivative of any constant (0 included) is 0."

is what you need to know and the rest of the wall of text Fiddle wrote is nonsense filler material xD

Fiddle-sensei pls

Actually is not pronounced "Pee" either, just "pi"  as one would read in japanese for example or spanish, "pee" would sound something like "pii"

1) How many digits of pi have you memorized? 3.141592 (I fell bad for knowing more than 3.14 ... )

2) How often do you use pi? Uhm... 5 days per week at least

3) What is your favorite kind of pie? Well, can't really explain and doubt most of you would know what I mean, but it's some sort of egg pie made by almost the same thing as "pasteis de nata", a famous pastry in portugal. That's just delicious.

4) Do you prefer pie or cake? Cake of course, nothing beats cake.

Or portuguese, but with the english accent it would be read "pee". But as you said, in spanish/portuguese it's read as "pi", but in other places it would be different
