I tried cannonball, but my biggest gripe with it is that it is about 80% RNG as to what place you are going to end up in during the race segments, and even doing the exact same thing on the same race multiple times will net you wildly varying results.  This makes the game a pain in the ass to do certain events.

 

I come from games where RNG is really common, but Cannonball took the cake from me, I did not give it, it stole it.  Doing the same exact race 10 times in a row, doing the exact same thing every time, should at least lead to predictable results, but you will not get them.  10/10 times the result would be different, and that is what breaks this game for me as a never recommend.  The worst thing a game can do is to make the player feel like they have no control, and that is exactly what Cannonball felt like to me, I could never influence the outcome of the race.

The race results are actually always the same, as long as you execute commands in exact same time and order. Have you even tried to read the release notes? There's a complete explanation of the race mode, full of hints and even a full walkthrough of the game. I had no problems with all the races, whatsoever. In fact, I enjoyed them a lot as they add a lot to game's atmosphere and there's a great soundtrack; Cannonball relies heavy on these parts, as they are an integral part of the story - if someone finds them to be painstaking and cumbersome, it will make the game a lot less enjoyable.

That wasn't my experience.  Even with the walkthrough, this game always changed every race I played.  I gave up about half way because of how unpredictable it was.  I thought everything was great, but that racing section of the game literally broke my entire enjoyment of it.

I think you'll never find the perfect blend of solid story and h content. The suggestions from the others are all decent. I seem to recall divi dead not being a bad mix of story and H but that was years ago..

Goshdarnit and I was totally going to suggest No, Thank You!!! when I saw the title ;( actually I wasn't going to suggest it but like honestly it is probably the closest game to what the OP would have wanted if it wasn't a Yaoi. It has a ton of sex scenes that are all pretty long with 50+ CGs to most of them and all the background noise along with the VOs and stuff, but it has a crazy good plot. It's ClockUp's 'sister' company so it looked like ones of their Nukige's but with actual plot thrown in.

 

If OP doesn't mind hardcore/weird fetish stuff I feel like Euphoria is going to fit the bill though. It sounds like a really good "Get Out While You Can" plot but it's a nukige. It's a pretty iffy reccomendation though because I know it has a bunch of scat, torture, general SM, weird fetishes etc. Although they have the option to turn off watersports/scat so that should be a plus but still sadistic torture devices in your h-scenes might not be appealing to all.

 

I've watched the animated hentai movies based on the visual novel, though the movies do not really go much into the backstory (if it all other than they are trapped in there), its more like they just shoved all the h-scenes into a 30 min video per route. Honestly with the shit I have seen stuff in Euphoria is pretty tame, though I really do not care for seeing a girl tortured, or scat for that matter. I'd probally read Euphoria just because after watching the animated h-movies, I am wondering how the hell they ended up there, and what the hell the sick fucks behind that entire "game" were thinking when they made it.

 

Any other reccomendations? I just recently finished Cartegra, it was pretty good plot wise, with enough h-content to fit the bill.

I could say the Monster Girl Quest vn's are quite similiar to what you are looking for - it's basically a nukige with plot (although it's not that great). Can't comment on Bunny Black yet, but Sengoku Rance is an incredibly sex heavy game, with a decent, albeit simple story to go with; the guy is basically on a quest to bone every single girl (princess?) in the world and plot revolves around having sex with preety girls.

One could argue whether Cannoball qualifies as well; when you look at it from one perspective, it has a lot of erotic content (like, really a lot), although it's light years away from being a nukige; there's some fetish pandering hidden in side routes, but most of the ero scenes are quite tastefully done and the portrayal of romantic relationship between Foxbat and Filho is <3 A really captivating space opera ( awesome racing in space with nekomimis!) with great, likeable characters. I'd say, why not give it a try?

Black Cyc and Eushully games are like that, though not many of those are translated (Gore Screaming Show is being tled afaik). Izumi Banya, the main writer for best Black Cyc games, is the only guy I know that specializes in plot driven nukige (to an extent that most ppl don't even call them nukige despite overabundant sex), and he participated in both Euphoria and Kuroinu (though as a sub) so those games might be your best bet for a while.

 

For those that can read Japanese, 隷嬢倶楽部 〜堕辱の虜囚達〜 and 聖エステラ学院の七人の魔女 have pretty good plots *for* nukige.
