Navizel Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 So I just finished Kara no Shoujo and I want another VN to play, preferrably lighthearted hence the choices. Actually, I'm not sure about Utawarerumono's story but it's already in my computer so might as well add it. Furthermore, I read some parts of Deardrops a long time ago but my laptop broke so I wasn't able to finish it. Should I start reading it again? About Edelweiss, is it any good? Lastly, If you didn't like any of the choices, what would you recommend for me? Quote
Kaguya Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Utawarerumono is by far the best one, though it's definitely not light-hearted. Edelweiss sucks. Badly. I'd say it's not worth reading it at all. Deardrops is okay-ish. May be the closest thing to what you want, though there's a not-so-lighthearted route in there. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 If you want something light Utawarerumono may not be the best choice (good as it is), though it does have its share of humorous scenes. Your call there. Edelweiss is good for a comedy but you have to put up with a weak/annoying start, here's my review if you want: http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2012/10/games-for-adults-edelweiss.html Haven't played Deardrops. Other light hearted games to consider: Shuffle! (just don't expect anything ground breaking) http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2012/10/games-for-adults-shuffle.html Koihime Musou http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2012/10/games-for-adults-koihime-musou-heart.html Otoboku http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2013/07/games-for-adults-otome-wa-boku-ni.html To some extent Cho Dengeki Stryker fits your bill, but it does have dramatic points such as the later parts of Zero Saga, much of Sky Saga, Steel Saga's parts dealing with the events of Zero Saga and the later parts of Light. http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2015/04/games-for-adults-and-everyone-cho.html Quote
Tesla Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 For something light hearted I'd go for Edelweiss, it has a terrible start but it's alright past that. But I'd recommend going for Deardrops, it's just too good to pass up and it has it's funny moments. Quote
Navizel Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 I guess I'd go for Deardrops first then Utawarerumono and then Edelweiss as last. Other light hearted games to consider: Shuffle! (just don't expect anything ground breaking) http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2012/10/games-for-adults-shuffle.html Koihime Musou http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2012/10/games-for-adults-koihime-musou-heart.html Otoboku http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2013/07/games-for-adults-otome-wa-boku-ni.html To some extent Cho Dengeki Stryker fits your bill, but it does have dramatic points such as the later parts of Zero Saga, much of Sky Saga, Steel Saga's parts dealing with the events of Zero Saga and the later parts of Light. http://gamesforadultsandeveryone.blogspot.com/2015/04/games-for-adults-and-everyone-cho.html Thanks for these recommendations. I forgot about Shuffle lol. I used to watch the anime and it was quite good. By the way, thanks for the other people who answered as well. Really appreciate it. Quote
havoc Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Utawarerumono, but it is not light harthed and has a lot of gameplay. Quote
mbl Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 As others have said Utawarerumono is not remotely lighthearted. It was pretty weird seeing it compared to Edelweiss and Deardrops, as it is not at all similar to them. It is a good read and has gameplay. Edelweiss would be the most lighthearted of the three you listed. Overall it is pretty meh, but about the same quality as any other standard SoL harem story, so I wouldn't bother suggesting any others to you if you're already interested in that one. Deardrops is good, but I would suggest reading KiraKira first and Kirakira gets dramatic at times. Quote
