    By Kaguya

Introduction   Welcome, fellow Fuwamembers, to the FuwaRecognition thread. Starting this March, we’ll be highlighting some of the best contributions made by our members each month. From snazzy blog articles to delicious forum threads, and perhaps even a few things more on the shitpost part of the spectrum, we'll keep an eye out for the cream of the crop. And then we'll gather them here. Just for you.   *holds up giant APPLAUSE sign*   A-hem, so this is the f

Dorama of the Year 2000-II Spring - Densetsu no Kyoshi

No masterpieces again since number of pieces is still too small. Densetsu no Kyoshi is the only drama this season that I watched to the end and that was inventive enough that I considered it as a masterpiece for some time.   1. Tenki-yoho no Koibito  [天気予報の恋人] (Finished 2/12) Tags: Romance Yano Katsuhiko, a weather forecaster who is divorced and is introduced by his f

Dorama of the Year 2000-I Winter - Omiai Kekkon

For my convenience purposes from now on excluding non-translated drama except special cases in addition to my usual genres exclusion or size becomes totally out of control by the end of 2000s. Failed to finish any drama this season except for taiga, so have to choose among the worst. Only jdrama are of good enough quality still, so among those I'd choose old-fashioned marriage comedy Omiai Kekkon .   1. Truth (2000) [진실] (Finished 6/16)

Summer Pockets Ray Review

Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title, because we have Visual Arts finally released Summer Pockets Reflection Blue after several years of waiting, I decided to make reference to Blue Reflection Ray anime, with I add the word 'Ray' after Summer Pockets so we have 'Summer Pockets Ray'. As for this week, there are two releases, although I can't say that I find those releases interesting to me. Other than the releases, we also have Shiravune released the DLC for Hentai Prison. Overall, thi

VN of the Month June 2025

There's variety for sure.   1. Natsume Yuujinchou ~Hazuki no Shirushi~ 夏目友人帳 ~葉月の記~ [Toydium Inc.]  Spend Your Summer Vacation in the World of Natsume’s Book of Friends Become Takashi Natsume and move freely through the world of Natsume’s Book of Friends. Anime of the Year 2025-II Spring - Ling Long 2nd Season

Chinese anime dominates this season. Ling Long 2nd Season is a long awaited sequel. Yujin Xingzhe is a very promissing survival adventure in an unusual world, and I'd put even that over the only honorary Japanese masterpiece of the season - Kowloon Generic Romance .    1. Enen no Shouboutai: San no Shou Fire Force Season 3 炎炎ノ消防隊 参ノ章  [David Production] (Finished 1/12) T

Dungeon Crawler – Uncovering The VN Hybrid

This is a condensed version of the full article which can be found on my Main Blog Here.   Into The Depths   Dungeon diving into winding mazes filled with danger and treasure has been a persistent fantasy and a genre of game seemly at odds with visual novels due to its high emphasis on its own mechanics. Looking at titles like Etrian Odyssey might lead to you to believe that this is a genre which does not care about story. However, among them are a subset striving to reach fo

ef - 7/10 - Serious, good, but flawed

ef is an objectively good visual novel that is written well that feels like it has a point even to its most plodding sections. It is a mostly serious story of imperfect people making imperfect decisions based on imperfect information. It has a few standout sections, but also has a few weak sections. The music in particular is outstanding. Reading it is an experience that feels unique, but I struggle to say it was very enjoyable or provided a lessen or food for thought. This will be completely sp

Heart Radish Vacation Review

Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title, because we have Futamata Ren'ai in QC with the VN tried to make the MC like Makoto of School Days along with ToHeart Remake trial release, I made the parody of the older VN from 0verflow (The developer of School Days) where they started their crazy, I mean intricate world building, Snow Radish Vacation, by changed 'Snow' into 'Heart', so we have 'Heart Radish Vacation' as the title. For this week, obviously this is a breather after the last week w

Ushinawareta Mirai o Motomete - 7/10

This review is going to read like a mess because of all the spoiler text, if you'd prefer to read this on VNDB you can here: https://vndb.org/w13482   All specific spoilers will be marked with how major or minor I feel they are. Outside of spoilers I'll use as much general language as possible to avoid them. I'd recommend Waremete to most readers who want a romantic comedy with some cute moments but a healthy dose of plot. The downside to the plot is that a lot of things are repea

In Search of the Lost Jewel Review

For this week title, because we finally have Ushinawareta Mirai o Motomete full translation patch available, I made parody of its English title, In Search of the Lost Future, with I changed the word 'Future' into 'Jewel', so we have 'In Search of the Lost Jewel' as the title. As for the reason on why I chose the word 'Jewel', it's because I decided to shortened the title as Ushieta with that word is from the characters from a fanfic that has the story about the search of the mythical jewel, Ushi

Pillagers of Raillore - 7.3/10 - A Discount Sorcery Jokers

If there's a quick way to describe Raillore to people I think it'd be, "Sorcery Jokers but a bit worse". So if you've read or tried Sorcery Jokers before, then that's the easiest way to tell you if you should give Pillagers of Raillore a try or not.  It has two protagonists, both of which are at least a half-step down from their Sorcery Jokers counterparts. Reno is basically a robot man who gets a bit frustrating to read since he's always asking for orders - although it isn't as common as "

Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation Review – Trapped With Some Cute Spirits

This is a condensed version of the full review which can be found on my Main Blog Here.   Genre – Fantasy, Romance, Slice of Life    Play Time – 35 hours    Developer – COMPILE HEART and STING    VNDB    Steam     Spirits In Love   Being a spin off of the Date A Live franchise, Rio Reincarnation is saddled with a set of pre-existing expectations from fans while also not having the ability to progress the overarching narrative of the series. In many ways this is

Square of the Moon Reload Review

For this week title since we had Yoru ga Kuru released with the story resemble Persona 3 and Alicesoft add Remaster label, I decided to add the word 'Reload' in the English title of it (Square of the Moon), even though Alicesoft didn't do much improvement on Yoru ga Kuru compared to what Atlus did on Persona 3. Anyway, compared to the last week we have fewer release, so it's pretty obvious that this week is a breather one. That said, there's still some interesting announcements, such as Nekopara

Kinsenka, Moyu. -as the Night's, Celebration- Review

Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and because we have Perennial Dusk released, I decided to make the parody of the writer's previous work (Sakura, Moyu. -as the Night's, Reincarnation-) by changing 'Sakura' into 'Kinsenka' from Perennial Dusk full title, Hanataba o Kimi ni Okurou -Kinsenka-, and 'Reincarnation' into 'Celebration', with the latter from Sakura Celebration that Nekonyan finally finished with, which is quite fitting seeing we have witch in Sakura Celebration with it the closest thin

Dorama of the Year 1998 - GTO (1998)

GTO (1998) ended up winner, as was expected, nothing from translated ones came even close to it, sadly.   1. Thou Shalt Not Cheat (1998) [呆佬賀壽] (Finished 1/25) Tags: Drama The drama tells the story of Hong Kong in the 1930s. He Jinbao, a rich boy, was sarcastic and domineering but good at socializing. Unfortunately, he was harmed by a villa

Kinsenka - 8/10

This is going to end up being a rather general review of Kinsenka because there's an awful lot in this visual novel and not much of the story can be spoken about without going into some spoilers. Positives: - Emotional scenes and stories within stories. This visual novel got me emotional multiple times throughout starting from relatively early on. - Just enough tone changes so that the story does not become one-note. Some sections had some comedy or some light slice of life sec

VN of the Month May 2025

Had to exclude multiple otome, doujins and vtubers, but outcome is nice.   1. Hanataba o Kimi ni Okurou -Kinsenka- 花束を君に贈ろう-Kinsenka- [Frontwing] 1 "The human heart is but a vessel for pain." That's what someone once whispered―a voice laced with loneliness, whispering directly into the soul. It's an indescribable sadness, a love just beginning to bloom. It becomes

Jewelry Lights Aria Review

Welcome to the VNTS Review for this week. For the title because we have Putrika released with the opening has focus on the jewel, I made the reference of Cabbage Soft's Jewelry series with I add 'Lights' from Perennial Dusk's writer previous work (Irotoridori no Hikari with 'Hikari' mean light) and 'Aria' from Iwakura Aria, so we have 'Jewelry Light Aria'. For this week, the most obvious thing is that it was very active compared to the last week with several releases along with the publishers an

UI Design – An Anatomy Of Visual Novels

This is a condensed version of the full article which can be found on my Main Blog Here.   The Magic Of Buttons   One of the most underappreciated areas in a visual novel is the work which goes into its UI design. An ideal UI will never draw attention to itself and become a natural extension of the player’s engagement with the game. This is not an easy thing to achieve since a balance has to be struck between its presence on screen, its ease of use and its aesthetics. Over th

Sakura Reset Review

Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title, because we have Da Capo Remake announced along with Clover Reset exact release date announcement, I made the parody of the latter by changing 'Clover' into 'Sakura' because everlasting sakura tree in Da Capo, thus we have 'Sakura Reset'. By the way, in term of music Da Capo mean 'play the song from the beginning', which is synonymous with reset. For this week, we have several new VNs announced at Anime Central, although to be frank none of those a
