Hey EVERYONE!! -- Sorry it's been a while, so much is going on in college and my part-time job so it has been very difficult to keep up at the moment. Just want to say that the translation of "Walkure Romanze" is imminent -- I'm going to create a Blogger site or Wordpress Site (not sure which one to use :S) and I've already messaged the people that want in on the project. Anyone else that wants to join, please do!

Yea, a heads up, I think that you might know more than me but idk XD but also, my skills are very narrow, and I am still learning the language. I can usually do the normal conversation types of translations, but anything with specific words that are not every day words might be difficult. ESPECIALLY since in VN's they seem to have a good amount of both, normal language, and then meaningful sentences, for example "The human race is blah blah blah" i dont know it right off of the top of my head, or words like Biology and Algebra, I have yet to learn >.< so, yeah. If you know obscure words or slang that is awesome! if not, you are still EXTREMELY helpful, since by myself it would probably take more than 5 years to finish haha! thanks for wanting to join in

Oh, and good luck for the project. Have always been wanting to play it cause the artwork is outright gorgeous.

I feel the hardest part of the transition between the anime they love so much to actually playing the visual novel is the acquisition of the VN. Most people are too lazy to download anything even though it's quite a simple process. Maybe someone should make a video on to do everything in like 5 minutes, to get them over the fence because I know visual novels are definitely worth the effort!

Correction - the offset should be 1382F (41382F is the loaded address)!

I've gone through the .exe with a debugger and have found the problem. The problem isn't with Windows 8.1 per se - it is due to the number of fonts installed! Due to shoddy programming, the Ever17 engine only looks at the first 100 TrueType fonts that it finds using the EnumFontFamilies() call. It checks the list to see if it contains a font that it knows about, but doesn't know when to stop checking! This causes it to eventually stumble into an illegal area of memory, causing it to crash. One solution might be to start deleting fonts until the font that the engine wants (Courier New) comes up in the first 100 fonts found. Probably not a good idea. I've also tried to skip the font check. This allows the game to run, but you get a weird font in the text. If you want to try this, use a hex editor (e.g. HxD) to open up the ever17PC_us.exe file and at offset 13337 hex, enter: B8 01 00 00 00 EB 52 I don't have the time to look into this any further at the moment.

Well I will be learning Japanese and hopefully becoming fluent in it over the next year or two. Might even go study abroad for a while if things look up.

I just found this thread after a bit of searching and wanted to say I'm glad that such groups of people like this exist. I would be more than willing to help with this project in any way that I can. I'm currently enrolled in University as a Computer Science major with a minor in Japanese, but I don't begin my minor until January. I am however completely finished with English classes and am very fluent there, if you could ever use another editor. I also know a decent amount of programming too, if any help is needed there also.

I'd say the only ones I check religiously (as in almost every day hahaha) and care about are: Higanbana 2 Majikoi (would be nice to have it all translated) Yosuga no Sora (for Akira) and Seinarukana (Go JAST..?) oh maybe Rance VI would be cool but idk if I want to deal with all the escapades of Rance again hahaha (no lie)
