  2. Current Game - Koi ga Saku Koro Sakura Doki 恋がさくころ桜どき Current Route - Konami's Route Next Stream Date - TBA I just can't get enough! Grieviious and I are now streaming the common route of the English translation patch for Koi ga Saku Koro Sakura Doki. As with the rest of my "common route" beta tests, feel free to follow along by checking out all the information in this thread. Unlike Clover Day's and Noble Works, this series won't have a set stream date - we will record episodes and stream when we have time and feel like it. If you are able to make the stream times, feel free to follow along and I hope you enjoy the game. Thanks again to the translation group currently working on this project, and keep up the good work! Stream Location: http://www.hitbox.tv...nalrenfuwanovel Stream Dates: TBA Additional Information: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/5121-koi-ga-saku-koro-sakura-doki-translation-project Previous Videos - Common Route: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7ivNNDDfsj5QVQ1Sk5qMTlZOXM&authuser=0 Konami's Route: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7ivNNDDfsj5dEVWM1AyMWtPRXc&authuser=0 For those that are not familiar with the visual novel, feel free to check out the opening video and summary of the game below: Opening 1: Opening 2: Spring is the flowering season, the season of the cherry blossoms. It is the time for first meetings and partings, when the buds start sprouting. Yuma is a second-year student at Mihaya Academy who listens to love problems from girls at the school and gives them thoughtful advice. This has made him quite popular and loved, resulting in a 21,000 yen (taxes included) ‘love bounty’ placed on him. The girls came to him with problems ranging from jealousy to infidelity. Having heard about so many troubles related to love, Yuma lost any desire he had for it. One day, a mysterious girl appeared before him. She had never been in love, but she believed that it was a wonderful thing. She asked him if he would like to be in love, and that as a love fairy, she will help his love come true. A girl who cannot fall in love. A boy who has no interest in love. If they end up falling in love with each other, how will the world change? As with the rest of my video streams, I plan to record each session and work on uploading the videos to a place where everyone will be able to view them at a later time. Feel free to follow the link posted above to view previous day's videos. With that, we look forward to seeing you around. Keep an eye out for more details as we progress, and enjoy watching!

  3. Dark sexual content? I've seen it all. Well, I liked gore and grimdark stuff long before I even discovered anime (not to mention VNs), so getting into dark H was just a natural course of action in my case. I wasn't exactly sensitive to begin with, so I don't think threading into the weird Japanese H territory had all that much influence on me. However, I don't like dark H solely for fetish reasons. I like those themes mainly because they are simply interesting. Only when the story is written well enough though, even in nukiges. For me, dark sexual themes must be accompanied by serious drama (or a solid black comedy, like http://vndb.org/v10636 for example - but that's rarely done well). When rape/NTR/guro/whatever are used in a pure fetishistic way and the story is just a dumb excuse for sex, it doesn't work. That's applicable to all kinds of sexual content really - without at least somewhat decent characterization, setting and story, I almost always find it simply boring (with very few exceptions). Needless to say, I fully support the existence of such content. The weirder and the more disturbing the better. ^^

  4. Thought I would finish DanganRonpa 2 before sleep - and it's already past 9 in the morning! The whole VN (game?) is a huge improvement over the first for sure, maybe with the exception of the annoying minigames. The mysteries were more complicated and entertaining, and the plot as a whole - especially in the last two chapters - was much better than the predecessor. Not sure how to feel about being able to guess the entire twist right from the first scene, but it definitely got me stumped in some different places. Especially that minigame in chapter 4 made me feel like a complete idiot. 9/10 from me

  5. It depends on the genre you are picking. I'd like to help from the start so I'm going to list down the useful sites we use in general: AniDB - This is your information site on who-subbed-what with detailed information on videos. Not like you would understand it, but you'll get the general idea if you skim through one series for a few minutes on that site. ANN - Up-to-date news on everything out there that involves the 'Anime' world. BBT - Releases completed series/seasons with the best or good quality from fansub groups. For programs that are required: CCCP - Get rid of any third party codec program, including VLC (it's shit) and install this. Use the MPC inside of it. There are three other steps I want to put down here but I'll list them later if you do take this step. They're optional, but they'll make the player lighter and the subs will be smoother and easier to load. uTorrent 3.0 - This is the best uTorrent version that doesn't have all the crap they put in the later versions, including ads ... unless you want ads then go download the latest version. Disable the 'update to newer version' in General tab. Though I gave you the break down of how I do things (and the majority of us), you can also go to Funimation or Crunchyroll and stick to their streaming services which is several steps below the fansub quality you get. As far as getting into the Anime world ... the links provided by The Major is a good start. It all depends on what you're into. Are you into mo'e (cute) anime? Realistic? Fantasy? Dark Fantasy? And so on and forth. But here's one other thing you could use - go to AniDB, click on 'Calendar', in the drop down box where it lists the months, scroll down to the 'seasons' and you will see all the anime releasing/released for that season and for the year you picked. I use that for quick reference to what I missed, what's coming up soon, or what I want to watch.

First things first: I would suggest one of two things. 1) either watch all the airing anime that you plan on eventually watching. or 2) make a list of all the airing anime each season that you would like to watch sometime. Myanimelist is a good place to do this. That really keeps me in touch with what's airing. As long as I have it somewhere that I can find it when I need to, I can just go with the flow and watch what I want to. I tend to just look at art and read the summary and look at the rating to decide if I want to watch it. Anything above 8 is sure to be good ^^ and I play it by ear below there. I think that something that will really get you into anime and fits those tastes... maybe Kore wa Zombie. Baka to Test is also really good. Kami Nomi is a good bet too. Those are all comedies, of various degrees. If you want something so cool that you'll never look back... Durarara!! or Gurren Lagann? Something classic and hilarious but also pervy and lolsy would be OniAi. It's hard to say what will blast you off, but I imagine those could do it if the genre fits. I'm less sure about OniAi, but it's one that I feel is undervalued, so read the summary first maybe xD My first ones, aside from a childhood of Ghibli, were Death Note (so good!) and Gintama. Oh my god. I forgot to sell Gintama. Gintama has been one of the funniest, one of the most touching, and one of the best things I have ever watched. And it's long. Which means that there's a ton of it. If you want to get into something and seriously enjoy it, try Gintama. The first 4 episodes are a little weird, but it gets going after that for sure. Not that they are bad either... >,> also, I just read your profile and this is a good time to say that you seem awesome. I suspected it from your posts. Fellow Katawa Shoujo lover!? Anyway, I kind of dropped a lot of suggestions cause there's a lot that I like. If you want a more personalized rec you could send me a message with more specific interests or something ;D --hit me up if you want someone to talk to or give you suggestions, or whatever. I love tat kind of thing. Otherwise, whatevs ~.^ I hope you find the passion you seek!

  7. This list won't feature the VNs in order of "how good they are". Rating them would be way too much of a clusterfuck to me. The VNs are not in their respective order. Meaning number 1 is not the best, and so on. 1_CHAOS; HEAD 2_Cross Channel 3_G-Senjou no Maou 4_Fate/Stay Night 5_Forest This Visual Novel is the easiest visual novel translated to get a bad ending without using a walkthrough- which just adds to the fun of it. It makes a massive amount of references to common literature, which makes it even better. 6_Katahane It may seem like an ordinary moege- the atmosphere is light, the story is full of cuteness, which you can note by the character design and soundtrack. It gets really good in the middle, and you'll be dying to know what happens in the end. A game with multiple perspectives, it's definitely one of the most enjoyable Visual Novels I've ever read. 7 Majikoi 8_Little Busters! 9_Tsukihime "You shouldn't tell lies that you can't even fool yourself with" 10_Swan Song A post apocalyptic Visual Novel. 11_Symphonic Rain It may seem like your ordinary moege. Trust me, it's not. 12_Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (and sequel) 13_Sekien no Inganock Steampunk. An atmosphere full of mysteries and references that will make your head blow up. 14_Steins; Gate A visual novel that deals extensively with time travel and it's consequences. 15_Utawarerumono 16_Fault: Milestone (1 & 2) 17_Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni 18_Kara no Shoujo 19_Umineko no Naku Koro ni 20_Planetarian 21_Ever 17 Another top 10. 22_Remember11 It lacks in the ending, but otherwise the story of this VN has enough to easily become one of my all-time favorites. 23_Zanmataisei Demonbane 24_Rewrite "Could it possibly be rewritten, this fate of hers?" Another one that enters the top 10. 25_Narcissu 26_Grisaia no Kajitsu 27_Saya no Uta Only if you enjoy dark and messed up settings. 28_Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni 29_Eien no Aselia 30_Rose Guns Days (1 & 2) There are small sections of gameplay on this one, but you can skip them by pressing the space bar, so this still qualifies. 31_Sengoku Rance I feel obliged to comment on this VN before suggesting it to anyone. It's an Alicesoft title, which speaks a lot for itself... If you don't know how it's going to be like, well.. Kind of tough to describe. Lots of sex, including comedy rape. Alicesoft tends to make the whole story a comedy until right near the end, where things actually do get serious. It's worth checking out, if you don't mind Rance's personality. 32_Phenomeno Want a short VN that can captivate you for their whole duration? Here is it. Visual novel adapted from the youth horror novel written by Hajime Ninomae and illustrated by yoshitoshi ABe. 33_Ef- A Fairy Tale of the Two 34_Dysfunctional Systems Another one great for those who want short Visual Novels. 35_Daibanchou Another Alicesoft title. While Rouga is not near Rance's level when it comes to pissing off people, alicesoft's style is something which often doesn't please people. 36_Yume Miru Kusuri The endings pack quite a punch. 37_Kikokugai- The Cyber Slayer 38_Eden 39_Hoshizora no Memoria 40_Katawa Shoujo Yep, it's somewhat overrated. Still, the fact that it is substantially easier for those who are starting to play visual novels to read should not be discarded, and overall, the story was good. 41_World End Economica 42_YU-NO 43_Shikkoku no Sharnoth Yep, there is a minigame on this one. If you download a save data you can skip the minigame, though. So it still qualifies. Another VN that enters my top 10. 44_Muv Luv Alternative The first Muv Luv didn't have enough to enter this list. You should still read it, though~ MLA is definitely awesome. 45_Dangan Ronpa 46_Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku 47_Hanachirasu 48_Ayakashibito 49_I/O 50_Deardrops

Hey all, I just wanted to ask for a bit of advice regarding where to start when it comes to watching anime. I personally have watched several shows, but I still feel like I haven't really "broken in" to the medium. I feel like I'm still missing something and that if I had it, I would be able to enjoy anime a lot more. Are there any specific shows I should watch to get a foothold in the medium, so that I can start to enjoy other shows more? I also wanted to know how you guys manage to keep up with all the new stuff. I see what's coming out and I have no idea where to start, or what's worth my time. I actually really want to enjoy anime more than I do, so if anyone can help me out here, that would be greatly appreciated! I guess I should state what little I know about my tastes. I am not really into shounen, though I feel like I could be, if there are any particularly good ones. I'm not averse to ecchi either. I really enjoyed High School DxD, for more than just the boobs, too. I really like mushy romantic stuff, and thoroughly enjoyed Toradora, which I finished recently. For more specific stuff, you can see my MAL page, but you totally don't have to go to the trouble, or anything.

I just skimmed through your MAL and I can say you like ecchi and comedy mixed together. I can suggest some animes in that regard: To Love Ru Noucome Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? But if I would suggest some animes I personally like: Sakurasou no Kanojo na Pet To aru kagaku no Railgun/ Majutsu no Index Seitokai Yakuindomo I see you are watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Give it a chance. That one and Code Geass got me hooked into the anime world. If you want more I could suggest that when I arrive home later. I don't remember everything I have watched. But if you are looking into new animes each season I recommend anichart.net You forgot "baka".

  16. Generally speaking, learning a language is much easier if you make an effort to shift your thought patterns into those native to the language inasmuch as it is possible to do so. I wouldn't have gotten so good at comprehending Japanese if I hadn't discarded the preconceptions born of my American/Texan upbringing in order to gain a better understanding. The unfortunate side-effect of that is that my thought patterns in Japanese tend to be irreconcilable in some ways with my English thought patterns. I weird out some of my relatives with the way my personality shifts depending on which language I've been thinking in more lately. Edit: Incidentally, if you happened to ask me which 'me' I like better... it is definitely the Japanese-speaking me. He is a lot less arrogant and more considerate of others' views. The English-speaking me is a pragmatist and efficiency-freak who despises wasting time and energy on anything outside of his interests, and who is stubborn to a fault at all the wrong times. Edit2: Also, my English-speaking self is a lot more misanthropic and gloomy... lol. The only thing that is common to both mes is my sense of humor and a general intolerance of excessive stupidity. Edit3: If I weren't such an introvert, I probably wouldn't notice the degree to which language reshapes my reactions and thought patterns. I developed a habit of trying to look at my own thoughts objectively at a young age, utilizing cues from other people and my own reactions. That tendency only gets stronger as I get older... since I get more misanthropic as I get older (my misanthropy is general to the whole human race, including myself, lol) Edit4: Human beings are surprisingly malleable, given the right stimuli. Proof of this comes in the phenomena of 'going native' and Stockholm Syndrome. Switching between languages is enjoyable for me in the same way flipping a light switch over and over again was as a kid, lol. Edit5: Anyway... as an answer to the question I tacitly asked in this thread... is it possible for two cultures so completely different in so many fundamental ways to understand one another? The answer in my opinion is a qualified no. We can change the surface levels of our cultures, to give a facade of similarity, and indeed, the westernization of Japan has blurred the lines in some areas. However, the fundamental differences in ways of thinking are still evident and the lines created by them are difficult to see for both sides. To be blunt, every time I think I understand the Japanese way of thinking, I hit another figurative roadblock.

    The Rant Thread

Yeah, that’s rubbish. Nowhere in the definition of ‘maturity’ does it say ‘always refrains from letting their hair down.’ You don’t know a person very well until you actually live with them, and unless you’re close friends with everybody in the school I very much doubt you know these people well enough to judge them. They may appear immature, wild, and emotional, but people look like a lot of things. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if things were always as they appeared to be? I knew of someone in high school, on drugs, partying, very wild and loud, had plenty of talent as a musician though. I thought what an immature person this person was, she was throwing her (considerable) talent away because of her lack of maturity. Not long afterward she committed suicide. Turned out she came from a very abusive family, she wasn't immature but distressed. Very sad. Another person I knew who regularly flaunted the law as a teenager is now a very respectable policeman, because at the end of the day people build character by getting out of their comfort zones, experiencing new things and forging relationships. These form new pathways in the brain, these activities lead to maturity. People don't grow as individuals by locking themselves in their rooms (says 'Rooke the hermit' who surrounds himself with books...) @MetalUpa: Yeah, school can be a fairly brutal time. It’s one of the most inefficient and pointless institutions which currently exists, and it totally refuses to change or modernise so it’s quickly losing relevancy. It also punishes those who can’t network or build relationships effectively. That being said, don’t try and rush through life. Is there any reason you are desperate to get into a relationship right now? Especially when you don’t value the people around you. Is there any reason you’re desperate to go to the school dance? For what reason and purpose? Is there any tangible benefit to participating in this event? Besides a small boost in pleasure, and satisfaction at being included in a crowd you don’t have much respect for? Regarding your inability to connect with people, you may have to do a bit of searching. Visit anime conventions or something, that kind of thing. If there's nobody around you that connects with you, that just means you have to look harder. Despite what a lot of youngsters think you're not an individual, there are plenty of other people like you around, you just may have to search a little. Regarding your neighbourhood, that doesn't sound like such a bad place to live. It would be worse if you had abusive neighbours, that's when you have real problems. If you think they're fake, concentrate on building up your skills and don't associate with them so much. Avoid the abusive relationships though, they're not very good for you. Don't be so desperate to be in a relationship that you'll put up with it either. You're very young, you have your whole life ahead of you. Just concentrate on getting through this period, and establishing a clear path forward.

  22. My sexual pleasure is totally fetish-based, I'm a pretty hardcore S. Mind break, all sorts of torture or even more (I'll refrain from going into detail, though I'd love to <3) during H-scenes is what I'm looking for. Mind break is by far my favorite one, though~ Of course, that doesn't mean I actually want to follow through my fetishes IRL. It wasn't a gradual thing for me either, I just always enjoyed this type of stuff. It's been a very long time since I've been an otaku, and my tastes when it comes to H-scenes never changed. Because of that, I don't think it has any effect. I've been viewing such content for years, and I can't notice any change in me.

  24. You're absolutely and thoroughly wrong. YouTube user and forum lurker Dowolf translated the Agave route in the last couple months. (on a side note, he has also translated Kazama's route) After some talking and lots of begging he has agreed to cooperate with us very nice people on the forums to make it into a patch. Ouraibaa is now Quality Checking his work so that then Mr. Hacker friend can make into a patch and put it into the game so that us scum of the earth can download it and play it. In the meanwhile Miyako's route is still in translation and we'll probably have to wait for it to be finished so a patch can be released sometime in the future. If worst comes to worst and it doesn't get finished Dr. Dowolf will translate it instead on a penalty of being cursed to death by us rabble if he does not. Be aware that the wording used for this description is heavily biased and not entirely representative of the actual events.

  28. Just started playing Tales of Xillia 2 and it's gotten an interesting start though the chapters are going by really fast even stopping to grind. Here's hoping it's longer than the first game, which I liked but even I could tell the later parts of the game were rushed (and yes I know it was so the game could release in time for an anniversary date for the series). On a side note, this may change later, but one of the new characters, Nova, is coming across as strangely similar to Leia. She's Ludger's childhood friend, fights with a pole, and even has a similar sounding VA
