So I was interested in knowing how much has translation of VNs increased with time and I had done some research and now I decided to make a chart and to share it here so everyone can see. (Only fully translated VNs are included in a chart, nukiges aren't included in a chart). And here are separated charts for fan-translated and officially localized VNs (VNs that ware fan-translated and later localized aren't included in localized chart)2 points

man in Quebec city given 60 days jail time for watching lolicon hentai http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-09-10/quebec-man-sentenced-to-60-days-for-watching-hentai-anime/.78594 from the above article. "The prosecution said that investigators recovered 210 "hentai" files from a hard drive, as well as 501 web addresses from Tremblay's browser history. Crown prosecutor Nathalie Leroux argued, "Whether it's a cartoon image or a photograph, any representation of underage people's genitals is illegal under the Criminal Code." " my opinion on this the man got 60 days in prison and 10 years on the sex offender list for some freaking hentai!. thats ludicrous. i may not watch lolicon hentai but i do enjoy alot of the darker hentai that come out and it sickens me to see someone prosecuted for watching an animated show . they aren't real people, no humans were harmed in its creation, no one was exploited and taken advantage of, this is just retarded.1 point -
[Ongoing] Fuwanovel Social Media Revamp Project
Nimbus reacted to solidbatman for a topic
Alright, so its time to begin pushing my plan forward a little bit here. The purpose of this thread is to lay out my plans for the Fuwanovel Social Media department and what I would like to see moving forward from it. Right now, I am in control of 3 out of the 4 Fuwanovel social media outlets. These are, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. The fourth, VisualNovelAer is in flux right now. So for the moment, there is nothing I can do about that until I know what the plans are for the blog (be it reconstruction or simply adding more writers). So here are the current teams. Facebook: solidbatman, Nosebleed, ryouuuuu, Kaguya (inactive), Tay (doesnt use but access if needed), unnamed (inactive) Twitter: solidbatman, zakamutt, Tay (doesn't use, but has access if needed) Youtube: solidbatman Blog: Tay, zakamutt, god knows who else The Facebook continues to grow at a healthy pace and we will pass 13000 likes within the next month. The Twitter is close to 400 followers. With a bit of work, we can likely surpass the original twitter account. Youtube is still being planned out, but work should begin within the week. What I have planned for the Youtube channel, is to record about 30 minutes of every Visual Novel we have offered. These videos can then be embedded on the download page for the visual novel as a sort of trailer for those who might have limited bandwith, or would like to see the VN in action before downloading. Choices will be done through annotations and unlisted videos to keep from having spoilers. Also possibly being hosted are official Fuwanovel Let's Plays and the Official Fuwanovel Podcast. Both of these are still under consideration and I will await feedback before deciding. The blog is I don't even know. Some needs: Facebook: We need someone able to assist users in tech support questions. I don't have time to go through each comment and post and even less to investigate every issue that pops up. Nosebleed has been doing this as much as he can, but recently everyone has become busy. We do the best we can, but could really use some help. Twitter: Zaka and myself tend to hit all the news we need to on this front. That said, having someone who can TL tweets from VN companies overseas would be a god send. We also need to remove the old twitter account from the front page and replace it with the new one. It won't take any effort to actually do. Just needs someone who has access to the front page. Youtube: TBA Blog: TBA The end goal for all of this is to make Fuwanovel the go to outlet for VN information and news. We've focused so much on hosting VNs, I think its time to actually educate about VNs now and make it easier for people to support their favorite VNs and developers. In the end, I want Fuwanovel to actually be a part of the official western VN community by removing all licensed games, having information pages for licensed VNs (these pages also having a 30 minute demo video), and providing links to purchase licensed VNs instead of a download. I would also like to see Fuwanovel put together instructions for those looking to import physical copies of JP only titles (titles that have been Fan TL'd) and having a purchase link alongside those download links. By using social media to educate and inform, we can perhaps make Fuwanovel a friend to localization companies, and become a resource that isn't hated by those companies. If you have any questions, want to offer any feedback, or want to give us a hand, feel free to PM me or post in this thread. Thank you for reading!1 point -

Outbreak Company: The funniest anime you haven't watched!
babiker reacted to crunchytaco for a topic
I like Saudia Arabia because it inspired Disney to make Aladdin, and the Japanese to write Magi: The Magical Kingdom! You're thinking, "well that's all you care about us." Well, they also taught me to drink beer warm instead of cold. You see, we had US military return from there and because they couldn't drink within the borders, they had to do so in camps outside Saudia Arabia without refrigerators or ice. Seriously though, beyond Otaku culture, would you be willing to live the average salary man's life over there? Suicide rate is pretty high... The cost of living an industrial life influenced by the West comes with more stress and isolation from the community.1 point -

Outbreak Company: The funniest anime you haven't watched!
crunchytaco reacted to babiker for a topic
Well, I suppose since the discussion has reached this level, it is high time I spilled the beans about why I REAAAAALLY like this anime. It's mostly cultural/personal reasons though, But I might as well share them. You see, I live in a country where the situation is almost an exact copy/paste of that fantasy kingdom (#Saudi Arabia. We even still have a king, who controls all, but he's not nearly as cute as Petrarca xD). This place has been facing the exact same problem of culture invasion, as most of the world is kinda facing it, for quite a long time, but what makes this country different, is that it chose not to accept Western culture in all of its shapes and its sizes. Not only the cultural stuff, even the normal stuff, like Western technology, has been sealed from entering for a very long time indeed. Of course, this choice had proven how pathetic it was about two decades ago, and the country has been slowly opening up since, but they paid the price for this by realizing they were now almost a century behind all the developed Nations. But what did another country decide to do? A country I respect very much indeed for its choice. That's right, its Japan! Rather than strongly rejecting Western ideas, or completely giving up to them, they decided to only take what is necessary, and learn how to make it themselves. THAT'S why we now have Toyota, Toshiba, Manga, Anime, VNs, and all the rest of the uncountable Japanese goodies we enjoy. Rather than fighting guns with sticks, they made their own guns and fought back. Me, and many other people like me, wish to do the same for our country. To not have to rely on neither the West nor the East for basic stuff like entertainment, but on ourselves. That's one of the main reasons why I wan't to become VN developer ... So, yeah... I suppose I saw this show way deeper than it was . The fact that I got so emotionally involved with it made the jokes more funnier, the characters cooler, and the flaws out of sight. But I suppose it was only me he saw this deeply into a comedy anime1 point -

FriendlyPanda reacted to hilbi for a topic
I was wondering the exact same thing actually:p I play the guitar & piano for some time now and atm only taking piano lessons and I also like to write my own piano scores. And I'm currently the one producing the music for a visual novel of a team of this forum Been producing my own music for 5 years now. I started with FL Studio, but have switched over to Studio One now. What DAW do you work in btw? Well for feedback, I like it but this kind of music is not something I know a lot about producing myself, but for example at "future sight" you have that breakdown @1:30, it has a sidechain/volume envelope on it. I would cut that out and turn the volume down, you can see in the waveform of that track, that it is not correct. @3:00 Also the "kick" is the dominant instrument in every EDM track (house, d&b, dubstep, etc). Now the kick sort of drowns because of all the other instruments, now can't hear it clearly and doesn't have a lot of punch. You can solve this by almost everytime with just EQ'ing and sidechaining. Cut off low frequencies of the synth, there will be some and you don't need them and they are messing with the kick. Sidechain the bass and synths so it will make more room for the kick. Also when you sidechain it will have a more dynamic feel to it, makes people dance and stuff I would recommend using more FX (i've heard some, but need more:P), like white noise buildups and down or snare fills or make cut-off envelopes of you synth, since those breaks are coming at a kinda random moment now. When you do this, there will be more tension in the track overall. Also your tracks lack really power and some instruments sound too thin, like for example daijoubu. That snare is way too thin, it needs more low and depth. You can do this by layering more snares with that one, and matchEQ them. (if you have one for the lower end, you cut some low off the other). After that you compress them, put some saturation/distortion on them (try Sausage Fattener by Dada Life, really simple and cool plug-in). Also you can use that VST on your bass and synths. And some general tips, always make sure strings have compression on them when do are just background instruments, since they don't need the dynamics. This will make room for other instruments, which will result in a louder overall sounding track. Use this also on bass if needed. Don't know if you are doing it or not, but it helps if you seperate the Reverb and Delay of the mixer channels. You have them linked to sends, and then you have the ability to edit and hear (if you have all the channels linked to busses) the reverb and delay separately. Have a short reverb one for the bass, snares, hats etc. and a long for the synths, fx, vocals and stuff and a delay too. That's it for now:P1 point -

I've have listened everything but the various WIPs of Silent Cries, however I'm going to do so next. You have nice music to the ears, by that I mean that it's not overwhelming which is good . If I had to criticize anything would be that, for my ears, Past and Getting By sound awfully similar, it may be just me but it's how I feel. Also you seem to put a very upbeat feel to your tracks, it's not necessarily bad, but for example in Silent Cries the track title seems to want to convey something solemn however that upbeat feel ruins it. The criticizing I did basically only touches in my personal perception so it may not be the best.1 point -
