Want a good reason to play it? The Slice-of-Life comedy filled common route. Oh, wait. It seems you aren't enjoying it. Do you not see something fundamentally wrong here? You can't ask for a 'valid reason' or a 'good reason' for these are all subjective. I, for one, never finished Terra route as I didn't like the shift in tone. I enjoyed most else, though I also had some issues with some routes (Kotori and Shizuru) and the supernatural parts of the common route, as I thought they were annoying (as it turned out, those parts are what was actually important for the rest of the game. Lucky me). What this game offers: ^My best efforts at being objective and at describing things. Also a prime example as for why I never do it.

I don't understand this.Yes, Rewrite starts as a kind of slice of life, then slowly it becomes not-so-slice-of-life. That's how Rewrite is, and this is why it's Epic - because of how it executes this. Whether you like this approach or not is for you to decide, not us. I only want to stress the fact that you're not supposed to think about this at all. You should read it if you like it, and shouldn't if you don't. Later parts depend on earlier parts. It's all mixed and I can't imagine liking it "partially" (maybe when it comes to some girl's routes but not the way we're talking about here). These latter parts will be "just OK" for you at best. Basically it seems to me that you had some hopes about it but now you feel disappointed. Happens. But regardless of what reasons we may invent here, I don't think they'll make you truly like it. Rewrite is focused on not being focused on something one, on mixing genres. Edit2: that is, Rewrite is a comedy-drama-action-mystery-slice-of-life-fantasy-romance (<-- in no particular order) Edit: Come to think of it, let's stay on topic. If you wanna me to give you a reason, I'd say its a Booby-ending that is available after you clear everything else (don't remember exact conditions). Booby-ending clearly makes all other parts worth to suffer-through.

This list won't feature the VNs in order of "how good they are". Rating them would be way too much of a clusterfuck to me. The VNs are not in their respective order. Meaning number 1 is not the best, and so on. 1_CHAOS; HEAD 2_Cross Channel 3_G-Senjou no Maou 4_Fate/Stay Night 5_Forest This Visual Novel is the easiest visual novel translated to get a bad ending without using a walkthrough- which just adds to the fun of it. It makes a massive amount of references to common literature, which makes it even better. 6_Katahane It may seem like an ordinary moege- the atmosphere is light, the story is full of cuteness, which you can note by the character design and soundtrack. It gets really good in the middle, and you'll be dying to know what happens in the end. A game with multiple perspectives, it's definitely one of the most enjoyable Visual Novels I've ever read. 7 Majikoi 8_Little Busters! 9_Tsukihime "You shouldn't tell lies that you can't even fool yourself with" 10_Swan Song A post apocalyptic Visual Novel. 11_Symphonic Rain It may seem like your ordinary moege. Trust me, it's not. 12_Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (and sequel) 13_Sekien no Inganock Steampunk. An atmosphere full of mysteries and references that will make your head blow up. 14_Steins; Gate A visual novel that deals extensively with time travel and it's consequences. 15_Utawarerumono 16_Fault: Milestone (1 & 2) 17_Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni 18_Kara no Shoujo 19_Umineko no Naku Koro ni 20_Planetarian 21_Ever 17 Another top 10. 22_Remember11 It lacks in the ending, but otherwise the story of this VN has enough to easily become one of my all-time favorites. 23_Zanmataisei Demonbane 24_Rewrite "Could it possibly be rewritten, this fate of hers?" Another one that enters the top 10. 25_Narcissu 26_Grisaia no Kajitsu 27_Saya no Uta Only if you enjoy dark and messed up settings. 28_Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni 29_Eien no Aselia 30_Rose Guns Days (1 & 2) There are small sections of gameplay on this one, but you can skip them by pressing the space bar, so this still qualifies. 31_Sengoku Rance I feel obliged to comment on this VN before suggesting it to anyone. It's an Alicesoft title, which speaks a lot for itself... If you don't know how it's going to be like, well.. Kind of tough to describe. Lots of sex, including comedy rape. Alicesoft tends to make the whole story a comedy until right near the end, where things actually do get serious. It's worth checking out, if you don't mind Rance's personality. 32_Phenomeno Want a short VN that can captivate you for their whole duration? Here is it. Visual novel adapted from the youth horror novel written by Hajime Ninomae and illustrated by yoshitoshi ABe. 33_Ef- A Fairy Tale of the Two 34_Dysfunctional Systems Another one great for those who want short Visual Novels. 35_Daibanchou Another Alicesoft title. While Rouga is not near Rance's level when it comes to pissing off people, alicesoft's style is something which often doesn't please people. 36_Yume Miru Kusuri The endings pack quite a punch. 37_Kikokugai- The Cyber Slayer 38_Eden 39_Hoshizora no Memoria 40_Katawa Shoujo Yep, it's somewhat overrated. Still, the fact that it is substantially easier for those who are starting to play visual novels to read should not be discarded, and overall, the story was good. 41_World End Economica 42_YU-NO 43_Shikkoku no Sharnoth Yep, there is a minigame on this one. If you download a save data you can skip the minigame, though. So it still qualifies. Another VN that enters my top 10. 44_Muv Luv Alternative The first Muv Luv didn't have enough to enter this list. You should still read it, though~ MLA is definitely awesome. 45_Dangan Ronpa 46_Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku 47_Hanachirasu 48_Ayakashibito 49_I/O 50_Deardrops

I'm currently in the midst of replaying Ayakashibito in Japanese (tbh, this is my third play), only just getting onto Tonya's route (intend to skip Touka's route because it is my least favorite and perhaps the most straightforward of them). I had to get the VN of the Month thing over with before I played this, lol. I will make a few remarks about things I noticed on my second playthrough that... Regardless of the path, I love Kuki Youkou (he's even more godly in the fandisc, incidentally); Suzu's path so obviously eclipses the other paths, even upon replay and taking my kitsune fetish out of the equation, that there is no real comparison; and Kaoru's path is greatly hated for reasons that have little to do with the path itself Suzu serves a role that appears in several VNs I've read in the past, of the girl whose heart is so close to the protagonist that she doesn't even leave his side when he chooses someone else. It probably isn't a coincidence that all of those had true ends and were overall awesome games as a whole (Comyu's Kagome being one of those). That said, one thing I absolutely adore about Propeller's four great games (or the プロペラ四天王 as I like to call them) is that all of them have paths that basically transcend their heroines, regardless of heroine quality. Yes, I love the characters in Propeller games... but the path quality in Ayakashibito, Bullet Butlers, Evolimit, and Tokyo Babel inevitably surpasses that of the heroines they are based around. That isn't to say the heroines are poor quality (though there is usually at least one heroine I hate or am unenthusiastic about in each... like the elf in Bullet Butlers and Touka in this one)... it is simply that their paths are so good, heroine quality's relevance is a lot less than you'd expect, lol.

Today I got stood up. Weeks and weeks before our meeting we had coordinated our schedules We found a time that we could both meet It was early, but in order to see her, I would go. I woke up early this morning. Tired, I dreamed of her warm embrace as I ate breakfast. The sweet rumble of her voice. Her soft lap. Hurriedly I shot out the door. Taking the Green Line to West Bank, I hoped to beat her there. Seeing that I had, I was quite thrilled. I stood outside, waiting for her to come and pick me up. The wind blew. The snow turned to hail. But she did not come. Glancing at my phone, I could tell something was amiss. It had been fifteen minutes past the date of our meeting. And I was alone, cold, sniffling on the sidewalk. Would she ever come? "Yes, she must!" I told myself. I desperately told myself... And so I waited. Thirty minutes blew by, colder than the wind that chilled my face. But she did not come. And so I waited. And so I pondered. "Do I need her that much? Is she the only one who can take me where I want to go?" In lonely times, a heart will seek the solace of another. And so, when I was yet another fifteen minutes older... I decided that I must go. There were others out there. Others who would take me where I needed to go. In fact, I remember my days as a youth Inseparable from my best friend: my bike. I longed for such simple times once more in the sad, sad, cold morning without my beloved. And so I walked, on the forty fifth minute, down the road. I crossed the street and went down the path. And as I was planning on leaving for good; to find myself another way I saw her. Sitting... loitering... idling With another man. That STRUMPET! That WENCH! How... could she? How could she have deceived me so? I decided that I would not be dependent on her any longer. I watched her as the icy air tempted my tears to freeze. And as I watched, from my vantage across the road, I saw her take off Towards our meeting spot. And something happened within me. My fiery rage turned into something mushy. My sorrow turned to hope. She was coming. I needed her. So I ran my way back, sprinting through all of the shortcuts, up a snowy hill upon which I almost fell, and walked as a jay across the intersection. I wanted to be there when she arrived. So that she would open her arms to me. I would forgive her. And she would take me where I needed to go. Where I wanted to be. On this day, my bus came late and I was forty five minutes late to work. But I know that I cannot go away. I cannot find another route. That bus really is the only one for me. I am dependent on her. Or it, whatever you prefer.
