Katherine Catherine is Nikolai’s ex-girlfriend who left Japan about a year before the beginning of the game’s events. Their parting wasn’t the prettiest and Nikolai still carries quite uncomfortable memories about it. Perhaps he would have forgotten them with time, but Catherine suddenly returns and, moreover, transfers into his class. Why did she return? Does she still love him? Does he still love her? Eli Ellie is the granddaughter of the board chairman of the school Nikolai goes to. She is a self-willed, proud girl and thinks highly of herself, but cannot be said to lack ardour. Is everything really as simple as it looks at the first glance, or is there more than meets the eye behind the image of a spoiled young lady? Kagome Kagome is the representative of Nikolai’s class. He has never paid attention to her before, but a certain sequence of events makes them come to know each other. Kagome isn’t loved in the school, and she isn’t really burning with desire to become friends with anyone either. Is there a reason for her behavior? What hides behind the facade of a simple unsociable girl? What secrets does she hide? Fuwa? What happened?
Darklord Rooke and 3 others reacted to Nayleen for a topic
I've been incredibly busy with work (big conferences, new feature releases and important bugs that caused concrete deadlines), sometimes spending 50-60 hour weeks in the office and not feeling up to "bringing my work home with me" to be honest, I just wanted to disconnect and play some games, ever since starting my new job in February. Just the other day I was thinking about how much I neglected everything in here and have been trying to step up my game since, but I certainly won't have the time until Saturday evening. Even then I'll finish the About section of the beta site at best, and everything else is still in such rough draft status that I'm having trouble making everything look nice, since front-end (the visuals and that kind of stuff on a web page) isn't my forte. I'm also kind of sad you didn't address this with me directly if you seem to have such a big problem with the lack of progress, Lewy. You know I'm passionate about the site as well, and that guilt-tripping me into putting some time into it might actually work. No hard feelings though.4 points -
Why don't we have one of these again? Post your best quality anime screenshots here for everyone to appreciate what true quality animation really is. (Not restricted to just anime but you get the idea) For those who don't know what quality is, refer to here. Try to keep Studio Deen posts under a 50% ratio. I'll start with some~ (studio Deen on the right) And some "people die if they are killed" And helpful translator notes3 points

So I just got done playing the Angel Beats trial and I felt like sharing my impressions on it and see what other people who have tried it out think, or enlighten those who have no clue what it's about. Obviously there will be spoilers and I'll pretty much be covering the essential plot of the trial version. This is by no means a formal review, just my random ramblings and impressions, it's probably not really that interesting or in depth, but I figured why not post something about it since the demo came out. Another thing to note is that since the game is fairly recent, I could not get ITH to hook properly (kept grabbing broken text) so my understanding of it is also limited to my Japanese knowledge, although given my knowledge on Angel Beats I'm fairly confident I could grasp most of it and obviously I understood the overarching plot. The first moments follow the anime's plot closely, there's obviously more description and dialogue than the anime, but overall the progress is the same. You get your first choice literally 2 or 3 minutes into the game asking wether or not you trust Yuri, which you can then combine with a choice that appears 5 minutes later that lets you laugh in Yuri's face, this in turn led me to get killed by Kanade (great way to start I'd say). Picking different choices earlier on really doesn't seem to affect anything aside from the dialogue but I would assume they will impact stuff when it's time to branch paths. After Otonashi regains consciousness and meets some more members of the SSS, you get this absolutely brilliant choice to pick his nickname since he does not remember much at this point in time. (Rough/Mediocre/Shitty) translation by me.2 points

The same kind of feeling one gets after knowing they read a really good book. It happens rarely, but when it does, it's when it can change your mindset permanently in the best possible way. 999 did something that no other game or movie ever did; it successfully made me shed a few tears here and there (Mother 3's ending almost did), and that's the first time I somewhat cried by delving into any fictional work. The good soundtrack and its genre in regards to all the mysterious and dramatic situations contributed a lot to the experience. YU-NO was also a thrill all the way through. I started playing it without expecting too much but it didn't take long until I realized I was playing a hidden gem. As a sucker for sci-fi, time travel (Back to the Future fanatic here) and parallel universes, the game's execution already made me indecisive on which game I preferred between 999 and this one. To answer the thread's question, I became an entirely different man in 2011 after playing through 999; it makes me glad that I accidently discovered it online. I was in dire need for more and at the end it made all other games seem a lot less interesting in contrast to what I just played. I was badly looking for something similar. Then I became someone else entirely again after playing through YU-NO, only about 2 months ago (2015). I'm sure it was the presentation, the soundtrack, the plot, the twists and the game's mechanic and the science fiction that I fell for; basically everything. The map system/time/flow chart was an awesome aspect, maybe my favourite, and one of the earliest games to use such a system. I'm not sure if there were other games that executed such a system like that before though. I'm truly looking for a life changing experience again. I can easily tell that I've read a very good visual novel when I constantly reminisce on what I've just experienced: and it goes like this: "did that really just happen?" or "why did my universe have to end?! I don't want to go back into reality! Bring me back!"2 points

Alright, let there be hooks! /HWN-1C*0@17D170:SiglusEngine.exe Not even sure how you got your ITH to load with the game properly. My newest ITH keeps trying to put in a broken hook and crashes the game. Had to mod the profile DLL to stop it crashing. But ah well, that hook should work for you.1 point

first everyone knows trolls are gonna happen that don't mean you have to bend over and grit your teeth and take it. secondly the idea the old members will counteract new members is inherently flawed the amount of newer members vs veteran members here is staggering and only growing larger in divide. you cant seriously expect a couple handful of active old guard members to clean up and keep on track the posts of hundreds of new people. also correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure no one is saying heated debate or argument of issue is being frowned upon after all what do you think is happening in this thread? and im only butthurt cuzz i accidentally sat on my sons pez dispenser.1 point

Majikoi S Translation Project Discussion

Names is basically the line, yeah... But I dunno. Making up names for people on AAI2 was so much fun; I kinda miss it >_> As for the Momoyo line, it became: "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peaches and placed them perniciously in my purview."1 point -

There's a really interesting balance there. This game is chock-full of puns and references that, if translated literally, basically demand fluency in Japanese to understand: "Wanko" being an punny reading of 一子 (Kazuko), where "wan" also means "woof"; puns based on Momo meaning "peach" (ももよもももももものうち, "momoyo mo momo mo momo no uchi" is a fun line that just sort of keels over and dies if I translate it literally as "Momoyo and peaches are both members of the peach family"); Takuya becomes Takuyo when he's crossdressing because "ya" is a masculine name-ending while "yo" is a feminine one, which is especially confusing to Western ears because we're used to hearing -a endings as feminine; "Until you cry I wait / Oh cuckoo" in English sounds more like the words of a crazy person than the literary allusion it is; the phrase "a punch with the intensity of a rising dragon" is going to lack a certain oomph if you don't know that's the literal translation of "shouryuuken." Determining which ones to change and which ones you're stuck with is... fun. I generally side with changing more things because I feel that makes the final project more enjoyable. But I digress.1 point -

Depends on the intensity of the emotions it makes me feel. It also depends on how well built is the story: how does its themes fit in every character, the symbols of the story, how do the routes mix with each other, etc. The memorability of the scenes also count. But one thing that will have a big role for me to classify the VN is how well-focused are the routes. If the routes tend to drive too much away from its conflict or the heroine, it's very well-likely I will consider it a bad VN or even drop it. Another important aspect: the soundtrack. The soundtrack will contribute very much on how you will "feel" the moments of the VN. There's a lot of other criteria, but those are the main ones.1 point -

Kenshin_sama reacted to Getsuya for a topic
Concerned parent groups like this always overlook the fact that the more forbidden something is the more interesting it is to the younger generation. Anything banned instantly becomes a hundred times more cool than it would have been un-banned. All you have to do is raise a child to know how to make moral decisions and how to differentiate fantasy and reality. Boom. Done. The fact that so many families can't do this is not a sign that our entertainment is bad, but rather that we have a lot of bad parents.1 point -

Thanks! Actually, no, this is not the sci-fi project we mentioned before. That one is planned to come sometime in the future if Love, Money, Rock'n'Roll succeeds. Nevertheless, the idea and general shape of the story of LMR project has also been brewing for quite a while and we are really glad to have started working on it. Well, it just so happens that we are accepting donations You can even get some neat things for certain donated amounts, much like on Kickstarter. More information can be found here.1 point -

Coliseum of Chatter Rules These are guidelines meant to be followed when posting in the Coliseum of Chatter board, please make sure to read them. No excessive amount of private joke threads. If a joke is good enough that it can be enjoyed by many without being offensive, it's okay, but otherwise let the private jokes remain private. No cluttering the Recent Topics box If one thread is funny, that doesn't inherently mean you have to create 5 more threads that are just slightly different after it, this clutters the new threads and buries other more significant threads, please try to keep other threads in mind when posting. If we see too many threads needlessly cluttering the box, your thread might be hidden and you will be notified about it. No excessive trolling There's funny trolling that people can get behind and there's "enough is enough" trolling. If we see the same person/group of people keep posting the same kinds of threads in succession that have little to no purpose to them and clearly have the intent of provoking, the threads will be hidden. Private groups need to remain private This goes for outside groups of Fuwanovel such as Teamspeak and Skype groups. We don't hate you and you're more than welcome to try and engage with the community and even have your own dedicated thread. However, do not make several threads that are centralized about your private group, leave all the jokes in the same thread unless you have something that you believe is worthy of sharing with the community The Chatter board is not a sex board. While everyone's entitled to have their sexual fetishes and preferences and despite eroge being very prominent in the visual novel scene, please remember to not have overly sexualized discussions, take those into private discussions instead. Try being a little serious We all know the chatter section is for having fun and be random, but when making a thread, please try to give it some form of topic and proper discussion and at the very least your own opinion on the subject. Threads sharing a single video or image for example really serve no purpose if you don't expand on said content in the OP. If we see a thread really has absolutely no purpose in existing, we will hide it if we see fit to do it.1 point
