Root Double is a 50 hours game, TL+ED will cost them 36k$ and it will be done by Lemnisca, they did good TLs previously, or so community say. [85 EGS]For the whole TLC/Re-TL/QC Muv-Luv wanted 57,5k$. It was supossed to be done by Ixrec/Alternative Projects and some other "experts" The length of ML/MLA is approx 80 hours [90 EGS]Libra on the other side will need 80k$ for translation, length of the game is approx 20 hours, forgive me if I'm wrong, saw only 2 reviews on EGS listing 12h and 15h. Translation is done by people inside. [70 EGS]TL;DR Root Double - 50 hours - 36,000$ - 85 EGS Rating ML/MLA - 80 hours - 57,500$ - 90 EGS Rating Libra - 20 hours - 80,000$ - 70 EGS Rating(Low amount of votes tho, might be not too accurate) Would also add Clannad/Grisaia etc. but I don't see a point... I still would like to play Libra and give it a chance, maybe if it'll be on sale on Steam for 20-25$ I'll consider buying it. Good Luck with the Kickstarter. Yowza! 20 hours?!?! Erogamespace is mistaken! Libra gameplay, the FULL uncut version, is 60 hours. The Steam version will be 15% shorter than that with the H-scenes removed. We have stated that that version will be around 50 hours. Also, could you please pass us a link where you saw this incorrect information on EGS or elsewhere. Thanks. UPDATE: We looked at EGS and found what we believe you were referencing for gameplay time. This just means that 2 people played the game for 11-15 hours. Maybe a player chose only one path and sped through the game like crazy, or another played Libra for 11-15 hours, quit, then decided to write a review. In any case, the full game is 60 hours. I suppose we could account for players with superhuman abilities. ;-) You mentioned that you've managed to cut costs a bit. What's the new initial funding goal? We'll be making the new, reduced (sodium) budget public next Thursday when we launch. ;-) Wait a second! 10 hours were cut due h-scenes? I'm not an expert regarding adult version of these games but that sounds a lot! I thought most h-scenes could be read in a couple of minutes so this strikes me as odd surprising news... I'm guessing these numbers are based on line counts. H-scenes are deceptively long when counted this way, because there are actually a lot of lines in an H-scene, albeit short lines/lines that are skimmed through extremely quickly. To quote an example, mare's route in Eternal Heart is about 5400~ lines, with another 1200~ lines of H-scenes. Based on line counts, nearly 20% of the route is H-scenes. I ctrl-ed through the scenes themselves so I can't say how long it would actually take reading them, but I wouldn't consider cutting the h-scenes as cutting 20% of the route, despite that being the case line count wise.3 points -

In which way? My Chiitrans colors words exactly like JParser. Did I miss a feature? O.o The only way I could explain it is with a picture. So here is a reference: http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad226/Thezalor/Text hooker comparison 1.png Chiitrans could understand that "掃除してくれていた" was all part of one word. But TA broke up that one word into three parts: "掃除して" "くれて" "いた". Which is just a pain in the ass. It is in this sense that I think that TA is weaker with compound conjugations.2 points

Kara no Shoujo: The Second Episode
Polycentric and one other reacted to Eclipsed for a topic
Kara no Shoujo: The Second Episode Licensed by Mangagamer Summary "To become my true self... I'll become one with them." Prewar-era Japan. Deep in the snowy mountains of northwestern Japan there exists a settlement called Hitogata, the Village of Dolls. On the night of the festival honoring the clay idol Hinna-sama, a girl is murdered. The villagers all blame Hinna-sama's curse. One outside the faith has joined in the festival of Hinna-sama, and brought the painful death of the curse down upon themself. October, 1957. Two years have passed since Kuchiki Touko's abduction from her hospital room. Tokisaka Reiji's younger sister saves a man who had tried to commit suicide. He, too, is the most recent victim of "Hinna-sama's curse". Reiji begins his investigation, clinging desperately to the hope that Touko can be saved, and at the same time, a strange religious group said to have dissolved six years ago begins to move again to put a certain plan into motion... The curse will be carried out, whether by the gods or by human hands. Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order Kara no Shoujo: The Second Episode is a linear story with eleven endings. There are no individual heroine routes. There are seven gameover endings, four endings, and one true end. You have access to all gameover ends, but only one ending on your first playthrough. The other three endings and true ending can only be accessed upon getting this ending and starting your second+ playthrough. You also need to get Bad End #2 "To Search for Toko" to get True and Obsession Ends. Route Guideline *Due to the mystery nature of this VN, it is strongly advised that you make your first playthrough without a walkthrough to avoid spoilers! You can do it! *Though, to avoid being locked into Bad End #3, you have to make sure you visit Yukiko at least 3 times during your Free Time before 1/9 First Playthrough I have included Save Points in the walkthrough for Memories of That Day below since all Bad Endings can branch from it. End (Ending 08) Memories of That Day Bad Ends (Endings 01 ~ 07) 1. Hinna-sama’s Curse 2. To Search for Toko... 3. The Holy Prophet 4. Disappearance 5. Yukio 6. Karen 7. The Two Yukaris Second Playthrough Must obtain Ending #08 "Memories of that Day" and start a new playthrough to get these following endings. Also must get Bad Ending #2 "To Search for Toko" to get True End and Obsession Ends There are extra dialogues and scenes scattered throughout the story this time, so pay attention if you are control skipping! There are H-scenes for Yukiko, Ayumu, Nanako, and Meguri. Ends (Endings 09 ~ 11) Normal End True End Obsession Attribution This Kara no Shoujo 2 (kns2) walkthrough is based on info attained from a source with some adjustments made by Eclipsed.2 points -

Danganronpa 1 Steam Release, 2 Likely Coming to PC
Suzu Fanatic reacted to Funyarinpa for a topic
Danganronpa 1 is out now! http://store.steampowered.com/app/413410/ ~~ This is a leak from the Steam Helpdesk. Steam recently implemented a new feature of letting you remove games from your account, which lead to a pretty huge leak of Steam licenses. This is proof that DR1 and DR2 have their licenses on Steam, this doesn't mean it's necessarily progressed but definitely it's at least proposed at this point. It's highly likely that unless it gets cancelled or something that we're getting DR1 and DR2 on Steam- this should up the "BUT I HAVE NO VITAAAA" crowd. My source is this thread (I KNOW it's a "HL3 leaked?" thread): http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1151754 More specifically, this post: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=188122664&postcount=132 Leak itself: https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=danganronpa1 point -
Ameba
XReaper reacted to hombreimaginario for a topic
We at Retro Sumus are currently developing Ameba, a detective adventure in the form of a western-made, western-set visual novel. The story takes place in Madrid, Spain, as the main character is a veteran senior officer from the Policía Nacional. Here is the teaser trailer for the project: And here is our first interview with SegaZine last year showing some character sketches... http://retrosumus.com/2014/11/our-first-interview-character-designs-revealed/ ...and our second interview, with the Dreamcast Junkyard, where we showed the first screenshots of both Ameba and Xenocider, our 3D on-rails shooter also in development (nothing to do with VN's at all). http://retrosumus.com/2015/06/ameba-xenocider-screenshots-interview-dc-junkyard/ We have been sharing our progress (on both projects currently in development) in a series of videos we call the Dev Diaries: Also, we showed our first very early demo a few days ago at RetroBarcelona, the biggest indie/retro event here in Spain. Not a great video but, for now... So, why the Dreamcast, a 15+ year old console? Well, we're developing the game for PC as well as Dreamcast and Saturn This is my second thread here so I hope I'm doing this right! Root Double- Before Crime * After Days - Kickstarter launched!
Mr Poltroon reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
There’s nothing wrong with recognising the fact that some stuff is too niche to really succeed down normal publication routes. You bring up MG but it took many years, and a focus on mainly nukige titles, to actually bring some amount of stability to the company. And even then Steam probably changed the game for them. Sekai's going for a faster growth, but doesn't want to adopt as much risk. You may not like them shedding their responsibility of risk-taking, but others are fine with it. The idea that using Crowdfunding every time is wrong is actually a statement that is quite wrong (ignoring the fact that this is based all on perspective.) I'll go into a bit of detail below. People use kickstarter because creating ambitious games (most of the time) costs money (the quality of Indie games has increased dramatically since Kickstarter.) People fund companies on kickstarter because people recognise that ambitious games (most of the time) costs money. They want this quality and they are willing to pay to get it. People also realise that traditional means of publications are not always the best sources of revenue generation for niche games. There is nothing wrong with this, it’s a statement of fact. The top-down isometric RPG has been revived via Kickstarter, and yet Spiderweb studios was happily succeeding in this space beforehand. The fact that Spiderweb studios was succeeding in this space doesn't negate the arguments that Kickstarter has rejuvenated that sector, or that the general rule has been 'it's virtually impossible to get an isometric CRPG published via normal channels.' Many people who are anti-kickstarter don't have the benefit of being a hardcore fan of a genre which was dead for a decade, and only recently revived (in dramatic fashion) because of Kickstarter. I keep telling people, become a fan of a genre of games which are extinct, hang around for a decade with nothing new to play, then witness Kickstarter result in multiple, high quality releases for the first time in God knows how long, and maybe your perspective may change on the issue. I'll bring up Harebrained Studios again, Harebrained Studios has used Kickstarter 3 or 4 times, but people don't care. Because of them, we're going to get a turn-based, mouth watering, strategic RPG with mechs set in the classic Battletech setting. They wouldn't have been able to create such a game without kickstarter because the audience they're targeting doesn't generate enough sales for them to create such games. That doesn't mean they've failed as a company, and in fact, Harebrained studios is one of the beloved Indies of the RPG industry. And the RPG fanbase definitely don't consider them 'dishonest.' So continual use of Kickstarters is not 'wrong' at all. It depends on the circumstances. It doesn't mean every company who continually uses Kickstarter is a totally cool company, but I haven't really seen actual logical arguments as to why this kickstarter (for an excellent all-ages VN) is 'the work of the Devil.' I see a lot of people trotting out the same, tired, Kickstarter lines though. Sekai produces 18+ versions of their games of DP. Furthermore, all ages is becoming a thing more because of Steam than Kickstarter. SP should have released their 18+ versions quicker, no doubt about that, but you can't say that they aren't there. The fact that there are versions which are censored shouldn't concern you when there is the option to purchase the 18+ version. Everybody has their unique thought and perspectives on things, and if they wish to purchase an all-ages version then that is their prerogative. They may be getting an incomplete version of the game, but that's their choice. Killing it? Hyperbole. I'd love to hear the explanation for this. No actually, it isn't. And you're not entitled to nice things in the first place. I could say 'the fact that my neighbour is living means I can't have a 50 inch, ultra HD television set. That means my neighbour's health is my business because if he were to suddenly die in mysterious and violent circumstances then there would be nothing to stop me entering his house and taking it.' But there is, actually, a whole bunch of laws and social constructs. Your right to nice things comes provided it doesn't disrupt society's order, and you pretty much have no say on what people choose to spend their money on. And nor should you, because that opens a Pandora's box you really don't want to go down.1 point -
*squints incredulously* You realize what the target audience for eroge is... right? Doesn't change the fact that having a strong male cast is pretty awesome. Most of my favorite characters from VNs have been male characters (and not limited to protagonist).1 point

In this example, Chiitrans gives you only the translation for souji suru, not for kureru or iru. It only tells you that the whole conjugation consists of -te --> -te --> past. There is no way as far as I see to look up kureru or iru (and with this to look up the special -te meaning of these words) when it's part of the conjugation of another verb. I think the conjugations you like in JParser are the ones defined in the Conjugations.txt. I think you can add even more, like for example specifically define a "-te iru" with a definition like "progressive form" or something and JParser would then use this and add the "iru" to the conjugation of the -te-verb and not as its own word.1 point
-
That's not how TA works, I'm afraid. TA needs a dictionary in EDICT format. What dictionaries your Mecab installation uses is irrelevant. Mecab is only used for parsing. If you want this dictionary to work with TA, you need to convert the CSV format into EDICT. All the dictionaries you have imported into TA will be used at the same time for both parsers.1 point

Instead, they are giving licenses to Dovac Kickstarter for VNs are bad because it corrupts the idea of Crowdfunding. It's for Indies and Startups to finance their first ambitious project. NOT for established companies to support their every move! If you need to ask for money every fucking time you want to do something, your company is an epic fail economically. MG and JAST don't do this because they are not troll companies like Sekai Project is. That said, I can't blame Dovac for being a greedy businessman and choosing the option with the most profit. If I had no soul, pride or conscience, maybe I would do the same.1 point -

I don't think one questionable choice is reason to accuse the entire staff of being incompetent (with the accompanying blow to morale that would bring). I think it's better to judge their work as a whole (as seen in the first gameplay video), rather than obsess on one particular aspect. To say as a potential backer, "I have no confidence in your translation after this desu fiasco, even if you fix it, because it shows your staff is incompetent. Not funding this!" would be quite the melodramatic turn.1 point
