  1. I have 1 rule, if the anime is based on a vn I won't watch it. If everyone says that is really good I will but only after reading the vn (f/sn, clannad, steins;gate)

  2. I feel like you're taking a really idealized approached to the situation that's simply unrealistic. Maybe people shouldn't treat it like a pre-order platform, but it's a simple fact that they do and Sekai Project failed to cater to them. This is their fault more than it is anyone else's, they aren't giving people what they want through the service. It's for that reason this campaign is under-performing. And when you launch a campaign for a project that launches just a month or two from the end date, you aren't aiming to fund that project, you're aiming to recoup its costs. This is a very important distinction. Granted, I actually don't care at all if companies want to use Kickstarter like that. I don't give a crap about the sanctity of kickstarter or preserving its original purpose, people should be free to use it in any way that benefits them, as long as the consumers are getting a fair deal. But I look at this project and I can't help but feel that Sekai Project is just phoning it in, trying to recoup as much of the costs as possible. The customers don't like the value they're getting for the upper tiers and also sense SP's lack of sincerity, and they're responding accordingly.

  4. Yeah not to mention that to read VNs you dont need to know the entire language by heart. Getting to a comfortable VN reading level really wont take too long if you're motivated, especially for moege/ lighter titles. Also, you can do like me and completely omit most kanji because furigana

  5. Sachi's bad ending is just evil. I did this with makina's bad end. Wasn't very fun that either

  6. It reminded me when I tried to finish Amane's route without walkthrough. Accidently got into her bad ending, I felt like having a nightmare of it for three nights straight. The same goes with Sachi's bad ending.

  7. I just got my first look at the updated tiers. Its a joke to anyone on the fence about this game, and only a tiny bonus to anyone who loves the game or creators enough to sink a lot of money into a KS.

  9. I won't lie, I contemplated suicide during the epilogue of that route. But then it ended.

  10. People say it's used like a pre-order platform, but no reasoning is given for their statements. If Sekai is using Kickstarter to cover the costs of licensing, and to pay a group for their translation, then they're covering cost and not using it to generate pre-orders. And then people take this theory, built on little to no reasoning, and use it to excuse their expectations and/or their behaviour. I'm not a fan of that, tbh.

  11. The title once again says it all. The first VN that I'll open the thread for discussion this year was this VN. In Mangagamer Staff Blog, they announced it'll be released on February 12th, so guess I'd open the thread 28 days too early lol. Anyway, the premise was like one loner girl names Yuna who always timid and alone was approaching by 2 ghosts. One of them was the student from before World War 2 and another was from around the same year as Higurashi - 1980's. Both ghosts was girl by the way, and they asked Yuna for create more yuri couple at the school, which was all girl school by the way. For the game format, since it was Liarsoft I think it'll something like Yuri Couple of the Week although I couldn't say much about this yet. The graphic to be honest not very good compared to Gakthun, but maybe this kind of graphic will be acceptable for this kind of VN. As for the review, I couldn't find any review that review this game fully, although from VNDB, it'll be around 7 I think. For the seiyuu, according to VNDB, they will be each voiced 2 character in this VN, except for MC seiyuu. The recognizeable name are Kusayanagi Junko, Oukawa Mio, Rita (Also the OP singer), and Kaneda Mahiru. While the rest was got less recognizeable role in VNs. And for the MC (Yuna), the voice was Kawashima Rino, who as I commented she was almost anywhere in any VN. As for Kawashima role, she was Haru in G-Senjou, Characters in translated Steampunk (Kia in Inganock, Mary in Sharnoth, and Emilie in Gakthun), Serawi in Kamidori, Nagisa in Koi Suru Natsu no Last Resort, and Yukari in Kara no Shoujo. For untranslated one she was Subaru in Beat Blade Haruka, Yuki in Subahibi, Narumi in Soukoku no Arterial, Alphimia in Madou Koukaku, and many more. Oh she also voiced Katahane MC (Male one), Cero. I think this VN for now was lack of review, although that didn't mean you should ignore this VN. I think this VN will be good for yuri fan. Oh about Steam release, I think since Liarsoft title almost always managed to not show explicit sexual content (Maybe) so far, I think this game is able to slip into Steam reasonable. Use this thread as discussion for this game, although it was 28 days too early lol.

  16. learn japanese in the time between new vns. You get to experience a nearly endless source of Vns and you actually get to know a language that you most likely were interested in in the first place + if you just do it in between VNs its not even going to take away that spare time!

  17. You should hurry up and read them! Majikoi is good VN series and really worth the read. And i'm pretty fast reader, so i'm having hard time finding good VN's to pass the the time my self I'm currently reading Grisaia no Kajitsu for the 3rd time to pass the time It's easily my favourite VN i have ever read and i have both steam version and the one i got from Fuwa before they deleted all the links. Cant wait for Seikai to be done with the 2nd and 3rd game so i can by them.

Also they registered both titles, so second one would follow as well. So wait a bit and you would be able to align PC translation to PSP

  21. I think exfp3 is a command line tool, and I believe you need both the .pack and .fkey files. Also, doesn't .pack files contain CGs...? I'm not too knowledgeable on that though.

  28. ye, it's always.. fun... to get that empty / downer feeling after finishing something that really resonated with you Just set aside some time to properly cry your eyes out, write a buncha essays and raid the internet about everything you loved and hated about it, read all of the spoilers on TV Tropes, eventually you'll get over it and be ready to move onto the next VN

  30. And I disagree with that. See my earlier post in this thread. I guess I never get invested enough in the characters to feel like I'm losing anything when I move on to a route, even a true route. I still experienced those stories, and nothing about how I felt towards them at the time will change by reading a true route.

  33. "If you back Libra of the Vampire Princess for $35 or more, you will get a digital skikishi of Aoi (vampire hunter) and a chance to win a double-sided pillow cover (choose your favourite from 5 girls)" Is what it says in the e-mail. I'm not sure if the shikishi is signed or not but they didn't mention anything from it so I guess not.

  34. Like Decay said, there are two endings. Both are sad of course, but in different ways. The good end is beautiful, the bad end is heartbreaking and depressing. (But still good.) I get you, I've had similar experiences with a lot of VNs and animes. Planetarian's ending made me sit in my chair and just gaze at the sky for an hour after I finished it. (And I totally wasn't crying ) Amane's good ending is probably one of the most satisfying and wonderfull, (and kind of cheesy), route endings in a VN that I've ever read. It really got to me too. Don't worry though, once you start that new, awesome VN you'll get over it.

  35. Thanks! I'll have a play with them. My theme was set to temporal - by the way I'm on a 4k monitor with 140dpi scaling so perhaps the issue only shows up because of the massive scaling going on at that resolution, though other sites never have this problem (and my hardware is ridiculously OP so it's not a hardware issue). Problem solved, FuwaFabulous was fine, thanks!

  39. Oh no! Games get dropped by fan translators at all sorts of progress levels for a huge variety of reasons. Complaining about not getting these free fan translation patches is one of the most obnoxiously entitled things you could do. Don't do this.

  40. Every tier after 225$ should just evaporate. Fans shouldn't even touch them... That's how unfair they are. 1,000$ tier should be like 350$, 5,000$ one should be changed into 1000$.... and the most expensive 7000$ one should be 1,500$ instead. I'm not saying give fans "items" for free, but at least at viable prices. It is calles crowd-funding, but that's just pushing it over the edge. If they want it to succeed they should change the higher tiers + add new ones. They had over half a year to organize this kickstarter and that's what they came up with? One word: disappointement. If they think that fans are dumb enough to give them pure money for almost nothing they're wrong... (hopefully) Even though Libra is worse game, the amount of work put in their KS by devs+localization company is outstanding, the amount of tiers is also amazing, the same with fairness of them, and they changed a lot of things according to users feedback. They deserve to be funded.

  45. I love how Clephas has just given up on recommending titles that are translated. Well, if you don't mind untranslated suggestions, I recently wrote a whole blog post about how strong the atmosphere in Sayonara wo Oshiete is. So I would definitely recommend that. For translated titles I am in agreement with Deep Blue, Swan Song is fantastic.
