  1. Okay guys, so I asked one of my Ever17 Gamefaqs acquaintances, Funchal99, to personally request Kotaro Uchikoshi, whom you hopefully all know as the writer of the Zero Escape games and co-writer for Ever17, to spread the word about this Kickstarter himself, and that worked out well he's made a post on his Facebook and Twitter, so it'd nice if you could like/share/retweet them. Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/kotaro.uchikoshi Twitter tweets: https://twitter.com/Uchikoshi_Eng?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor In hindsight, I can't believe I didn't think of this idea before... and why no one else did either.

  2. Tropes should be used as tools, means of telling a story or developing a character. People have a tendency to confuse them as an end to themselves. A trope without a story or a character is a pretty boring thing. I like to think this way: If you had to choose between a perfect story, that utilizes lots of tropes and cliches and an ambitious story, which breaks all the rules but is shit in terms of quality, what do you read? ___________________ A great way to keep things fresh, is to subvert or play around a little. For example, I would like to see the girl walk in on the guy more often (that probably happens a lot in otome, but whatever.) Just imagine, the girl is about to be banging against the guy's door (probably because he did something stupid again), but the door wasn't fully closed and she falls into the room, landing on top of him. I really liked that one scene in Grisaia, when Yuuji found Amane changing in his room and he just wanted her to leave. That was amazing.

  4. Yeah, Killer Queen was pretty shitty. The concept could be interesting, and especially the first episode had some interesting moments, but overall it wasn't anywhere as good as it could be. The second episode was exceptionally shit, since it focused more on pedophile-pandering bullshit than the actual horror and suspense part. There was ONE good twist in the entire game, and that's

  14. Final Hours: Stretch Goal 3 Unlocked, AMA Quotes, Thank You! Stretch Goal 3 Unlocked: Re-Vote We left the fate of mini-episode 2's storyline in the hands of our backers. After a second poll was conducted and analyzed, it was Lycoris and Aoi's pre-Libra story that prevailed. AMA Fun! Over the course of our Kickstarter, we held 3 different AMA's: 2 at /r/visualnovels and 1 at /r/cosplay. The following are some highlights from each. Question: Did you take inspiration in Draculius when working on Libra? "The world, setting, is almost the same. At first when we started Libra, we thought about remaking the game... but during the planning, we thought just a remake is not so creative, so we decided to keep some of the same symbols but make a completely different game." "For example, when we made Draculius, we didn't imagine the biting pee effect which people asked about earlier in the AMA. So for somebody who really knows about manga/anime story they might know about higanjima manga. In that story, when vampires bite it makes people pee, so I thought if we make something like this with cute girls it might be fun. Of course there is much more, but this is one example maybe people want to hear about!" Source https://redd.it/3z7z7u What got Producer MOKA started on his path? How does he create new characters? "When I was in junior high, watching animation became the starting point. For example, anime like Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru. I was also a fan of Oji Hiroi, creator of Sakura Taisen (both game and anime) and Mado King Granzort. I was inspired by his work, so when I found Oji was a game creator also, it helped guide my path in that direction." "When I create a new character, before I visualize what they look like, I think about what they might say that connects to the story. From there, the details begin to materialize as more dialogue is written." Source: https://redd.it/40en99 Kurusaka-san, I like your cosplaying! Why did you become a cosplayer and what's it like in Japan as a cosplayer? "Thank you for your question. When I was a child, I really loved anime and manga. Naruto is my favorite. One day, my friend showed me a picture of Naruto cosplay (it was Sakura). From that moment I fell in love with the idea of dressing up as a character from my favorite show. What I like about cosplaying in Japan is there is a big community! I have a many cosplay friends and we enjoy talking about how to make different kinds of costumes. We get to share a lot of cool information with each other. There's also are plenty of shops to buy cosplay items from." (smiling) From Kururu Kurasaka's AMA: https://redd.it/40e97p Thank You! MiKandi Japan and XERO would like to give a sincere, heartfelt thanks to our friends, followers, the media sites that shared our battle with their audience, and to the Vampire Princess Army. Without you, making it this far wouldn't have been possible. Together we've marched to victory and proven that there is a hope for more visual novels to make it overseas. Onward to Immortality! 20. Something you should consider if you are checking VNDB ratings is that it's extremely important to know WHAT you are looking for. The VNDB rating isn't just a measurement for quality, it's also a bit of a mind-fuck-meter. A rating how screwed up the content is. I give you an example from my earlier VN times when I was still young and naive: One day I was just looking for a nice feel-good moege and was picking Sharin no Kuni because it was highly rated and I liked the art. The VN started quite nice with the protagonist walking peacefully in the fields. Then a girl came running by and I thought, hey she's really cute, I'll probably go for her route first. The next thing that happened was... a guy appeared, shot her in the head and she died. I was actually so shocked that I rage uninstalled and didn't touch the VN again for at least half a year. Another example: Ef - A fairy tale of the two looks like a very beautiful moege and also has a pretty good rating of 8,2. Now, ef is one of the only VN's that got an ESRB rating and MangaGamer posted it 1 - 2 years ago without saying for what VN it was just to see the reaction. Almost everyone thought it was for Euphoria: Adults Only 18+, Blood, Nudity, Sexual Violence, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content. And so far ef is the only VN where I had to stop reading in the route of one of my most favorite heroines because it was so depressing that I couldn't continue anymore. And then I played Kara no Shoujo... *dies* Anyway, the whole point of those examples is to show that a high rating doesn't necessarily mean that a title is 'better' than others, it can also mean that it is simply 'different'. Usually, if I'm looking for a feel-good moege, then I look for ratings between 6.5 and 8.0. If it's higher than 8.0 then you're most likely already in nakige or even worse - utsuge territory. But there's another factor which is at least or even more important than the pure rating: The vote count. Many people who don't like a VN simply don't vote for it or they are so uninterested in that they don't even bother to try it. That's the reason why there are some highly rated titles with much lower vote counts. In case of popular moeges, many people follow the hype and then bash the title because they expected more serious story content. Nukiges are even lower rated than moeges by default, so you can enjoy even titles with a rating of a lowly 5. Story titles, including nakige and utsuge, are the most highly rated titles on VNDB. Usually, they get at least a 6 just for trying even if it's the biggest crap ever written. The good ones usually have a rating of at least > 8.0. If they are lower they aren't good or they have a certain style not everyone likes (Liarsoft titles come to mind). The best titles like F/SN or G-Senjou have both a very high rating and a high vote count. So in short words, the vote counts indicates how popular a title is while the rating stands not just for quality but also how sophisticated its content is. Shuffle might just have a rating of slightly below 7, but it has a vote count of almost 2.500. You won't find a lot of VN's with a comparable vote count. For obvious reasons time also matters. But most VN's will never get such high vote counts regardless how old they are. I guess that got longer than intended, but human "voting psychology" is quite fascinating. I usually also compare EGS and VNDB ratings and sometimes even those have vast differences I have a hard time understanding.

  21. My opinion can be found right there if anyone's interested. /stema Adults these days... What prevents someone from enjoying a romance without relating to it? (or fapping to it, since you seem to reduce it to that aspect alone?) I'm not a very romantically inclined person but I enjoy fictional romances of all kinds, whether they're realistic or not, between kids or adults, heterosexual, homosexual or anything else you can imagine. I don't need to project myself in them as long as they're good. Besides, trying to apply a criteria of "realism" to romance is kinda... not really relevant? If you wanna give another try to AI romance in a piece a fiction that gives it more depth, watch the film "Her". It's beautiful.

  22. 1. Someone make a petition to abolish school settings, please. The reason I dislike school settings most of the time is not because I think school settings can't work, it's because most of the time it's simply there as a plot device to make the characters have classes and have an easy excuse to meet each other, but other than that it never serves any logical purpose half the time. I know it's because of the whole "highschool girl" fetish, but still, it's stupid if it's just there for the sake of being there. 2. "The beautiful transfer student", I'm sooooooooo tired of seeing this trope, it's the biggest cop out to introduce a character ever and I generally tend to hate whoever the heroine is, unless they make a good excuse for their existence. Why is it that a main character always has to magically transfer into a school in the middle of a freaking semester? I just don't get it. This is also the result of having mandatory school settings in everything. 3. Sex talk in VNs is also pretty horrible sometimes. Now I know Japanese pornography is different than western pornography in that they usually tend to have a lot of descriptive dialogue, but while I'm used to and enjoy it most times, sometimes it gets so ridiculous, like the heroine describing how the protagonist's penis is going down her throat while she's actively sucking on it. You don't have to tell me, I can see it happening, and you sound like you have a baguette stuck in your mouth! 4. Protagonists who just want to live a peaceful, undisturbed life. To some extent, I can sympathize with someone who just wants peace and quiet, I myself enjoy it too, but why are so many protagonists like this, and why are so many protagonists like this actively getting involved in shit they know is going to ruin their peace and quiet? Japan pls. 5. [MOTHER FUCKING SAKURA PETALS EVERY FUCKING WHERE I CAN'T EVEN SEE 5 FT IN FRONT OF ME] 6. Ejaculating inside and never getting anyone pregnant. Because it's a safe day every day of the month. 7. "Asspussy". No. It's an ass. 8. "Mouthpussy". No. It's a mouth. 9. "*anything*pussy". Go fuck yourself.

  23. Wanted to pop in and give a big THANK YOU to those of you who have supported RD and helped to spread the word. Kickstarter and other crowdfunding campaigns can be very tricky. Not only do they rely on the creator(s) to push and help spread the word, but backers as well. Backers are the lifeblood of these campaigns. We read and take into consideration everything that gets posted on the campaign page. And yes, we could certainly use your help to further spread the word. Be it a tweet FB post, carrier pigeon, etc. Show and tell the outlets that you frequent regularly that it is something that you feel passionate about and that their readers will be interested in hearing about. It's a team effort. We have members of the team who are primarily focused on Root Double while my primary focus is on our current releases (Strawberry Vinegar, No One But You, Rabi-Ribi) and upcoming releases for Q1 2016. That's not to say that we aren't pushing the campaign, we have distributed news about the campaign's launch (https://twitter.com/sekaiproject/status/684464856435527680), plugged it in a couple interviews, and have been fairly active on social media in regards to further promotion of the campaign. We have also generated some pretty cool new backer rewards, and have been steadily posting campaign updates. We want to see this one blast past its goal just as much as you do. We are still a relatively small publishing/lic. outfit and not even one month in to 2016 we have three releases in January plus the Root Double KS campaign ...not to mention several other titles on the horizon. It's a lot titles to be working on simultaneously and by such a small, dedicated team. Sure, it's not an ideal timeframe to be working on so many projects at once, but sometimes you have to work with what you've got and you can't always ask the development studios to wait while we release "Game X" ahead of theirs. As you can imagine, that doesn't go over so well. ;P So if there are outlets that you feel that we should be speaking with, or ones that you frequent on a regular basis, please, by all means let us know. I will happily reach out to them to gauge their interest. Overall, we love hearing from you and just redesigned our own forums too (http://forums.sekaiproject.com/). Not only do I welcome you to speak with us or ask me questions here or on our forums, but you can also reach out to me directly on Twitter. I love speaking with my fellow peers about games and other related topics. It's all for THE GREATER GOOD! Now back to pitching and sending out some more review keys. Yours truly, Chopped Liver ;3

    How is Noble Works?

I'm currently in the middle of Maya's route and so far it's certainly one of the better written moeges I've read. Though currently it's dragging on a bit, especially compared to the pretty cool start of the VN. The disappointment that Chiaki didn't get a route is also still nagging at me. And why Makoto didn't get a route either is beyond me considering that she seems to be the closest thing to a main heroine so far. When they decided which girls get routes they certainly didn't go after IQ. I probably just read Maya's and Akari's routes. Hearing Sena's voice almost makes me fall asleep and Shizuru is too immature for my taste. Hinata is kind of okay, but she's too loli for a romance route. But I do like the interaction between her and the protagonist - it's absolutely hilarious at times. They have a good chemistry.

  27. Today I'm going to talk about a certain visual novel that failed to impress me as much as I thought it would. The title says it,it's one of my two last visual novels of 2016...Killer Queen.A doujin visual novel made in 2006,with a remake in 2008 and sequels in 2011 and 2013.It's one of the earlier visual novels to take on the same theme as 'Battle Royale',and is actually a bit closer to the original. In this visual novel,13 people are abducted and locked inside an abandoned building with explosive collars fitted around their necks. They each have a PDA with a playing card from A to K and each player has a different release condition. If they fulfill their release condition during the 72 hours they are given, they can take off their collar and can get out of the building, and also win a large sum of money. However,if they don't fulfill their condition within the 72 hours, their collars will explode and they will lose. I think that's enough synopsis,so let's get to the actual review. Story (7/10) The story interested me very much.It had some expected twists, and some quite unexpected ones. Many parts of the story caught me by surprise. However, there are two things I very much didn't like in this game. The first thing is that the endings were bad.The first episode ended with a sex scene (something I hate) and the second episode ended with Anybody who has read my Ever 17 review knows how much I hate a good ending in a story where there are lots of depressing parts.Ever 17 was a particular case where I could forgive that, but here...it was too bad.The first ending was a bit better than the second one,but it still was unsatisfying. The second one,as I said,is the reason I didn't get impressed by this game. The second thing I hated in this game was the fact that it was a kinetic novel.Although it was split in two episodes, with the second one being an alternative to the second one,it deserved routes. There were more interesting characters than the four characters who got explored the most, those four characters being Sakumi,Karin and Nagisa in the first episode and Yuki in the second. I won't really talk about this here, but in the 'Characters' section. Art (5/10) The art was lacking. For a visual novel like this, art would be making it much better, since there are many visual novels with better art and a terrible story.I am going to compare the art to the art in 07th Expansion games here, and unlike it,the art in Killer Queen has no emotion to it.However,it gets improved in the remakes. Sound (6/10) The sound was nothing too special. It had some memorable tracks, but most of it was plain boring,shit-tier music. Not to be too harsh on it,but I really didn't like the music. As for the voice acting,it was good for a doujin made in 2006. Characters (6/10) The main issue I had with this game. The characters were a bunch of people you couldn't care about, since they didn't get the character development they should have.Victims of this include Reika,Fumika and Takayama, and possibly Gouda. This happens in both episodes. Reika gets more of it in the second episode,I mean,at least in the first episode we And my favorite character was Yuki. Not because she was interesting, but because I could see a lot of her deal right before it happened. And then there's Nagasawa, the most unlikable character in the game.A wimp who's even worse than Yuki. However, there were three characters I could like. They were Nagisa,Karin and Hazuki, and maybe even Sakumi. Enjoyment (4/10) No,I didn't enjoy it.I wanted Killer Queen to end as fast as it could. Overall (6/10) Although it tackled Battle Royale before 999 and Danganronpa,it was far worse. The characters, especially pissed me off.The story was rushed.Never wanna play it again.

Oh boy I have been waiting all of my life for this thread. Now on a more serious note, never assume that we will never meet, it just so happens that me and @Nosebleed became class colleagues in university after we met on fuwa. However I don't really think that we should be /that/ afraid of sharing things, or rather fetishes, that we have. I mean I did give nosebleed a lot of tracks from my ear licking asmr folder(which is uploaded in case that anyone wants to venture into it (´・ω・`)), it's not like we got weird with each other because of it. 'Tis but an example, so take it for what it is. Now for fetishes that I have or something of the like, as deducted in general I have a big mouth fixation and I'm kinda sensitive to sound, maybe even more so than visually, I also prefer "semi-clothed" women just like OP, especially regarding to legs, knee socks, stockings and the like, although feet don't do anything at all for me. One of the things that could also be considered a fetish for me in a way on the sound department is the heartbeat, I just love listening to another person's heartbeat for whatever reason. Says the guy always talking about man ass.

    Request for translation??

It's all about exposure. Over a hundred million people use Steam. Thousands of (very dedicated) people shop at MangaGamer. MangaGamer's games used to sell a few thousand copies if they were particularly good sellers, and less than a thousand if they were bad sellers. Nowadays, a few thousand is almost the baseline for Steam numbers. Although VNs are still a really tiny niche, being on Steam gives them much greater potential for sales than being off of it. That's why everyone is flocking to it, now that they figured that out. Well, this is pretty besides the point, that SP has a partnership with Akabei Soft, the company that released the game the OP wants translated, and Moogy, a translator who is involved with this process, stated that SP wanted to work on something else but AS is making them release the currently fan translated stuff officially, first. And Moogy also said he was unhappy with the SnK translation and wanted to redo large parts of it. So... yeah, I guess we'll be waiting a while. And all of this is besides the OP's point, that he wants someone to translate Time Leap. Sorry, but nobody really takes translation requests for VNs. VNs have massive amounts of text and takes months of the translators' lives to translate.
