  1. I attended both the JAST and MangaGamer panels at AX2015. Peter Payne gave a very polished presentation and clearly knew the games he was presenting (JAST staff seemed unfamiliar with the larger Japanese VN industry, however, and were unable to field my questions). MangaGamer's presentation was inconsistent and highly disorganized. Each game was presented by a different panel member, and some of them were clearly out of their league giving a professional presentation. I wasn't particularly impressed with any of the presentations, and the whole panel felt very slapped together. They spent undue time on forgettable titles and didn't highlight their best titles (especially recent releases). I brought along two people who were unfamiliar with VNs, and they both agreed that JAST by far gave the better presentation even though they had fewer games to announce. I wasn't invited to the Sekai Project panel so I'm unable to comment on that one.

  2. Well, I guess I'll chime in to support the unpopular opinion - SP is my favorite at the moment. MG is close behind, and JAST USA is a distant third. In terms of # of games released (a few months ago I crawled through the data for the three companies, so this should be roughly correct): SP is releasing more games per year than MG and JAST USA put together (not that the last one is helping much...). Both SP and MG are accelerating their number of releases recently, especially SP, while JAST is flat and much lower than the other two. Now, of those, the rebuttal will go, most of SP's are random doujinshi nobody has ever heard of, but replace "doujinshi nobody has ever heard of" with "nukige" and the same argument applies to both MG and JAST USA. If you remove both of those from the list and look at the remaining, I expect SP is still in the lead, though I didn't look at this data point. Now, granted, if you're a nukige fan, more power to you, and you probably don't care about the last thing I said. But this is about who I like, and frankly I'm more likely to enjoy a random doujinshi I've never heard of, but which SP decided to localize, than I am to enjoy a random nukige. The claim that only MG releases stuff in a timely manner is, I'm pretty sure, bunk - I honestly don't know where it comes from. JAST USA is the only real laggard in the industry (I find this post hilarious, since it shows the translation was done three years ago, and we only saw the release last month...). The other two are getting things done in a reasonably timely manner, for the most part. There are outliers like WEE for SP, but there are far more things like the complete retranslation of Clannad that got done on schedule in a year, or the rather punctual release of Root Double, which people nonetheless cried bloody murder about because it was a month late. If you're going to kick and scream about them releasing something at the end of April after predicting a March release, you're setting the bar way, way too high; that's just not how the world works when you're talking about a half-year (or longer) project involving tens of people. If you think differently, I'll eat my hat if you've ever actually been involved in such a project (but if you actually have, then the joke's still on you, because I'm not wearing a hat). And a point in favor of all three: they've all caused big changes. SP's happens to have been the most recent, but JAST USA has been around and kicking forever, and proved that there was a market here at all. MG found a way to substantially broaden that market and upped the volume substantially. And now SP is changing and broadening the market yet again. We benefit from all three of them. Even if we make jokes at the expense of one or all of them from time to time, they're none of them causing us any problems. Be happy for what you have, and if you think you can do it better, in all seriousness, go do it. This is the place to find people who are passionate about VNs; maybe you can build a crew to found the next big VN localization company that changes the market yet again. It's already happened three times. That it will happen a fourth time is practically a given.

  4. • ELF incl. their derivates of the past (Kawarazaki-ke2, Tanteidan, Yu-No & Be-Yond) • Black Cyc (Mindead-Blood, Gun Katana & Mugen Kairou1-2) • Liar-/Railsoft (Kusarihime, Forest & Kagerou) • FlyingShine (Umi kara Kuru Mono, Chross Channel & Carnival) • Eushully (Ikuza Megami Zero, La Dea Memoria [yes, it´s been fucking enjoyable, even though i got to fight the same big-bad in every route], Genrin2 & Tayuuta) could´ve mentioned more, but tried keeping it down to those who keep/kept on releasing at least 3 titles which i thoroughly enjoyed reading, excl. series & works done in cooperation with others such as RUF´s etc. edit: coming to writers those are doten meikai, (the very earlier)tashiro hayato, (almost tempted to say to the earlier, too)izumi ban´ya, kusaka matsuri

  5. Hey hello! We've got a new update: Team geNe6 has been expanded! We'd like to welcome Anytsdow, and DragoonHP! In the past few weeks, we've made significant progress on editing, CG art, and background art. Here's a little preview: We are currently working on a new character sprite, music, the GUI, more editing and even more art. Stay tuned!

  6. I don't think that statement is fair. Even though Mangagamer does everything to look like a porn company only selling nukige, they actually aren't. Back then, when MG was still uncool and visual novels weren't popular yet, they released an all-ages visual novel, Higurashi, even though it was pretty clear that it wouldn't be very profitable. Of course, they got hate because there were licensing issues with the soundtrack and because they didn't use the Alchemist sprites. But still, without MG, we probably wouldn't have gotten an English Higurashi release at all. Since then there was always an "All-ages" in the MG store. Also, even though they were advertising every game as a sex romp, people who actually played their games know that most of the time this was false advertising. I remember playing Edelweiß expecting a nukige because the summary very much implied it, but then I got one of the funniest love comedies I ever played. You only need to think of the gay ghosts to notice that they are still doing this, but nonetheless the games are actually not as porny as MG tries to make us believe. I don't think you can criticize MG for focusing on nukige. If you ignore all nukige in their portfolio, you still have a great list of mostly interesting games. And I think this list is possible, because they release also a few nukige (most of them actually quite good if you compare them to JAST's nukige for example) to make cash, because we all know that it's the porn that sells.

  7. So in short I made this thread to see what your favorite vn developers are and towards that purpose I ask you guys to make a top three developers and why they're your favorites along with your favorite vn by them (untranslated or translated). To start with the right foot I'll name my top three picks. Innocent Grey - Developers of Cartagra and the Kara no Shoujo series, their great pacing, mystery and simply amazing art style place them at the top of my list. Love them, plain and simple Clock-Up - They've made Euphoria and Eroge!, I admit that while I haven't read things like Maggot Baits (Which I wish one day I'll be able to) I really enjoyed what I've played from them. Yuzusoft - Do I really need to elaborate here? Dracu-Riot! and Noble☆Works, I quite like their romance and comedy that goes along with a good story and art style as well. Well that's about it for my top three and I ended up leaving out other ones that I really liked, Minatosoft, Moonstone, Overdrive, Navel among some of them. Now I ask you guys, what's your top three developers and why as well as some examples of vn's they've made if you want to. As always thanks for your input and have fun.

  8. VN Overview You may have heard the occasional theory of a potential catgirl 'dystopia' in a certain popular catgirl VN. (given that in a sense catgirls in that world could basically be seen as slaves). This visual novel will take that theory to a logical extreme in that sense. Catgirls will be used and abused negatively by humans and it will eventually turn into a rebellion/war started by those who want to fight for Catgirl rights. There will be a decent amount of realistic military action, the setting will take place in Japan (of course). At the moment, we're planning to have 3 routes. This VN at the moment is not going to have explicit H scenes. Current Project Team I'm currently the project manager of this whole VN We have the main writer who's written the major scenarios planned out, as well as a timeline (history wise) as well as a timeline that will be referred to for writing specific scenarios We have an editor who mostly reviews our scenario documents, records meetings when we have them and will likely be an editor of the VN when it's released We have a programmer who will be programming the VN through Renpy We have someone who will contribute to making music There are a few people who came up with the original idea of the VN and have helped make some character concepts. Current Progress At this point we have the major scenarios planned for this VN written out. We also have all the major characters' personalities and backstories written up in addition to a few secondary characters. We have Renpy set up and know some general ideas of how we're going to use it. Our next task, in addition to looking for art, is to start actually writing dialogue. Looking for Artist Right now, we're looking for an Artist. For the most part, we just want art that we think would be fitting for the setting and plot. That said, we're very open to artist interpretation and freedom. Our highest priority at the moment is looking for someone who can at least make art for our characters given their personalities and physical descriptions. Backgrounds would be nice too but since one of our teammates is currently living in Japan, he can easily take photos and blur them a bit. We have a Discord server where we keep all our documentation (we'd rather not show it publicly at the moment) so if/when an artist joins our group, we'd like for him/her to join the Discord server to read the documentation as well as post progress for us. If you know anyone who would be interested in being an artist for this VN project please reply to this project and PM me! If possible, we'd like you to show previous examples of art you made to see if it could be a good fit to hire you on."

  10. Most of the reservations people have with Sekai Project I have no qualms with, such as their use of crowdfunding. SP has licensed some interesting stuff recently, and are actually pretty transparent as of late, answering pretty much any question that comes their way with a good degree of honesty. They have been licensing a string of decent looking titles, but really the biggest problem is that outside of the Grisaia series, they all just seem decent, nothing more. Wagahigh, Chrono Clock, Maitetsu (well, I'm not a lolicon so that's to be expected), their Hoshimemo retranslation, 2236 looks interesting but I'm not sure I'm sold on it, and so on. Also their translation quality hasn't exactly been stellar. MangaGamer has released some really great stuff lately, however, and have done a fantastic job translating it. Kara no Shoujo 2, Gahkthun, Tokyo Babel, and Fata Morgana are all great VNs with excellent translations. Purely from a results standpoint, I'll have to go with MangaGamer here. I really hope they keep things up with their polished localization efforts, as they also have some pretty exciting things in the pipeline, such as Himawari. This year's announcements thus far, though? Meh. This has been a great late 2015 and early 2016 for them, but at this point 2017 is looking pretty dire. JAST never releases anything, and when they do it's usually a disaster. I can't in good conscious call them my favorite when you consider what they released in 2015 and the state it was released in

  11. Flarum sounds like a hideous, flesh eating disease. ‘I’m sorry sir but there’s nothing we can do. He’s got flarum.’ ‘Oh my God! I thought they only affected cows!’ Seriously though, I really don’t like modern forums like Discourse. I don’t see what the benefits are and navigating it is unpleasant. I much prefer older style forums, to the extent that I’ll avoid a lot of forums if they use modern software … like flarum (I don’t want to catch anything.)

  12. It's not about being ugly (only @OutoftheBox said that). It's about actually feeling physically unwell when watching it. I admit I'm more sensitive to light than the average person (particularly flashing lights), but still that page affects me negatively physically, which is fairly rare for a static homepage. I can't even remember experiencing that happening before. I did some thinking about this. The key here might not be that it's different shades of the same color, but the fact that it is all blue. Blue is the shortest wavelength we can see, which mean it's highest frequency light, which affects our eyes. The high frequency in turn mean it's the kind of light with the most energy. Maybe starring into high energy light like that overloads something in the eye or the connected nerves, at least in some people. It does transfer significantly more energy into the eyes than if it were red light, which is the lowest energy light we can see. Natural occurring light is primary low energy, meaning lots of red and very little blue. Starring into blue lights isn't something we would be able to do naturally, meaning genes, which would not be able to cope with it would not be a disadvantage until modern times. While the physics are facts, it's just my theory on how the eye/nerves/brain responds. It may or may not be correct, but it got me thinking: what would happen if I see the very same page, except it is in shades of red? I'm not sure I would like how it would look, but it would be interesting to know if it triggers some bad feeling or not. Another thing about blue. Research has shown that blue light triggers a hormone release from the brain. This hormone is a "wake up" trigger, which makes sense since the sun is the only natural source of blue light. Reading on a screen with blue light is now a cause of insomnia and it is actually recommended to read paper books rather than ebooks before sleeping due to this issue. This mean checking for new posts on an all blue forum just before going to bed would be a bad idea.

  15. So I'm getting married in 2 months. While my wife enjoys video games and doesn't mind me playing them one bit, I just don't feel like the VNs I own are something I'm going to want to play once we're living together. Nor do I think I'll ever have the time to sit down and read through any of them. Honestly I was considering just throwing them away. That might sound horrific, but I don't have the boxes or manuals for any of them so I just have a bunch of naked (official) DVDs in a case, so I can't really sell them. I mean I could, but I feel like I wouldn't get a very nice price for the set and selling them one by one would be a huge pain and not worth it in the end. Then a thought came to me: how about instead of selling them I pass them on to someone else who will enjoy them? And so I would like to offer a chance to one lucky Fuwan to receive my collection of Japanese all-ages VNs (sorry no adult stuff in my collection). The contents are as follows (note as I said all of these are just the discs, no box or manual for any) PS2 Higurashi Matsuri (w/ 2 disc soundtrack) (this is the Higurashi PS2 game that was released before Part 8 was out, so it has a different ending than the rest of the series. If you want the real ending you have to buy Higurashi Append separately.) (Note also that Japanese PS1/2 games will only work with Japanese region PS2/1s and that Key PC games need to be patched to work with non-Japanese PCs) PS2 Haru no Ashioto (https://vndb.org/v179) PS1 Hiza no Ue no Partner (a raising sim sort of like Princess Maker except you're raising 3 adorable cat girls. I never got around to trying it out it just looked cute) PS1 Kagayaku Kisetsu he (https://vndb.org/v51) PS2 Galaxy Angel (https://vndb.org/v860) PS2 Kanon (https://vndb.org/v33) PS2 Te no Hira wo Taiyou ni (https://vndb.org/v1113) PS2 Memories Off Duet (https://vndb.org/r26470) PC Rewrite (requires Japanese PC or patch) (w/soundtrack) PS2 Clannad (https://vndb.org/v4) PS2 Mai-Hime (https://vndb.org/v65) PS2 Brighter Than Dawning Blue (https://vndb.org/v232) PS2 Iris (https://vndb.org/v2312) PC Symphonic Rain (w/ special ost) PS1 Sister Princess (https://vndb.org/v4681) PC Little Busters (https://vndb.org/v5) PC Angel Beats (requires Japanese PC or patch) (w/ 2 osts) (https://vndb.org/v13774) Now while I don't want to sell these I also don't want to just give them away. Instead I want to give you something you can enjoy and I'd like to receive something I can enjoy in exchange! The two things I'd love to receive in return are games or books. What kinds of games? Either US or Japanese PS1/2 or DS games or US 3DS games. I like RPGs and horror games especially, though I'm willing to consider all kinds of offers. As for books I'd like complete series of novels either Japanese or English. I hate having to buy pieces of a series so it's all or nothing. I like sci-fi, fantasy, horror, mystery... honestly any good novel series could catch my eye. Though I'm offering 16 games, some of which were quite expensive when I bought them and which you will be getting without needing to pay shipping like you would if you were to try to get them from Japan, I am not asking for a completely equal exchange. These are naked disks and there's a fair chance you may not like all of them (though I did pick all the games (minus the cat-raising one) from lists of highly rated VNs) so I'm not going to be too greedy. But please make fair offers. I would feel bad making you bid against each other which I think would just cause bad feelings so what I'm going to do is give it a week. At the end of a week I will choose the person who has made the most interesting and fair offer (or an offer I found to be exceedingly interesting or exceedingly fair) and communicate with that person to set up the shipment. During the week I'll pop in to let people know if some of the things I'm being offered are things I already own, just to keep things fair. (DVDs or Blu-Rays of classic black and white horror films would also be appreciated)

  17. Innocent Grey: Make good murder mystery games. Fav: Kara no Shojo Waffle: Showed me even nukige can have good stories and characters. Fav: Kyonyuu Fantasy Gaiden 2 Minatosoft: Their games make for very good light reading. Fav: Tie between Majikoi and Tsujidou-san no Junai Road Honorable Mentions: Black Cyc: Back when they made good games (here's hoping the new Extravaganza game will be good) I used to watch their pages like a hawk, anticipating what the next game would be. The reason is they told some really enjoyable dark stories that would have at least one satsifying conclusion. Fav: Tie between MinDead Blood and Gun Katana Type Moon: Because of how awesome their universe is. Honorable mention until/if that Tsukihime remake comes out. Fav: Fate/Stay Night Speed: As far as I can tell, the only ones who managed to create a good zombie eroge series...until Ball Buster Fav: Kansen 3

  19. 1. 07th expansion. They have yet to make something that I don't love, and their soundtracks are always fantastic. 2. Nitroplus. Their games tend to have excellent production value, and they've made some if the best visual novels to date. 3. Liar-soft. Their games, from what I've seen, tend to be very stylized, and the aesthetics and tone of their games are usually very pleasing.

  20. Alright. For me it has to be: 1) Fuguriya/ Sei Mikaeru Joshi Gakuen, because Sono Hana. The games might not be the best plot wise, but for a dirty old Yuri fag like myself, they are great. Nuff said 2) Clock Up. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I first started playing Euphoria, and it just blew my mind. After that I have played some of their other games, and loved them. They make a lot of dark stuff, which I like, the art in most of the games is really great, (Maggot Baits art = porn in itself,) and the games have good writing. They take their games very seriously, both in the art departement and the story departement, despite the fact that many might brand the games as disgusting and worthless nukige at first glance. 3) I'd have to say Navel, mainly because I just love the Shuffle! series, and those games were one of the reasons why I got into VNs. I love their art style and their characters, (despite the fact that they all look the same ) Shuffle! Wasn't the first eroge I played, but it was the first one I actually heard about, quite some time ago now, so when I started playing VNs I quickly jumped into it and loved it. Their games might not be uber deep or anything, but I really enjoyed the ones I have played. Hard to name just 3, but those are some of my favorites at least.

  22. Apparently they want to create a new forum from scratch. Their old one was often victim of bot attacks so they most likely try to create the new one with solid Fort Knox qualities. It took Jast almost a year or more to create their new forum, so MG will take their time too.

  28. Welcome! I encourage you to make a VNDB page and link it to your profile, so we can see what all you've played and offer suggestions based on that. Or at least so we can say "hmmm..." and "oh my!" when we see what you've played and what you thought of it For something lighthearted, maybe give KonoSora a try (I really like it, despite its English translation being rather lackluster), though Princess Evangile might also be a good choice (although it wasn't to my taste, it is quite popular around here). Clannad is fine, though it drags often; I actually prefer the anime over the VN, mostly because it's so much shorter, and even the anime drags. When you're up for another good cry, I highly recommend Symphonic Rain - given your listed favorites, I bet it's right up your alley. And when you want to try something a little different, maybe look at Gahkthun of the Golden Lightning or Sekien no Inganock.

  29. I think only people who aren't around a long time could have been surprised about that. MangaGamer usually never announce anything of value before AX and Otakon, since those two where always their big announcement cons. It's already an improvement that they've announced one big title per con this year with ImoPara 2 and Kyonyuu Fantasy. Though they seem to stick to their tradition that only nukiges or smaller doujin are announced. They will hold back their bigger story and moege titles for the two main cons.

  33. I was gonna ask about that at first, but refrained because...yeah, I was a teen back when I read it - uncertain what I would think of it, given a second chance to go through it. I can still appreciate "the land" being a symbolism of his own body and mind though, and hanging onto what matters - "The power that preserves" indeed. Basically a fancy self-help series, but it was still enjoyable to discover the potential of the human spirit when I was growing up. Liked the army battles too, remember visualizing them to a far better extent then my mind can conjure nowadays, that's for sure.

  34. Unless your volunteering to stand up against a C&D directed at you at some point in the future to validate your belief... Debating is all good and dandy, but thus far, it's been ignorant suppositions and doubtful feelings. It lacks any stable ground to stand on. There was a time I used to feel the same way about Fan TL "rights". But as it turns out, if the company that created the work notices, and wishes for the project to stop - the company has that right - they have sole proprietorship, end of story.

  36. edit: ^^^^ Also Infini Brain/Lilith Soft. They have actually issued a rather large number of C&Ds in the past. Many for games they have no intention of ever licensing, despite them having some kind of partnership with MangaGamer. I mean, even if it's not likely that the Japanese companies would react, it's still a risk. A risk people aren't willing to take. There's some chance that they will follow through with their threats, and who wants to gamble with that when the repercussions can be so severe? It's not worth it. One of the biggest reasons to let people know that you're actively working on a TL is one that @Pabloc has become intimately familiar with early this month, when someone else spontaneously released an acceptable Rondo Duo translation. Pablo was something like 2/3rds complete with his, having only told a few people here and there, when a 100% patch came out from someone else. That's a decent amount of work to have to just drop. Rondo Duo is a fairly short game, think about what could happen when you're 2/3rds of the way through some 50,000 line monster? In the case of Rondo Duo, neither group made widespread public announcements, the slightly slower group ended up having their work made redundant. Announcing translations is like staking a claim, you're letting the world know that you're going to spend the next year or more translating something so no one else steps on your toes. And once the news is out there, people are going to bug you to no end over translation updates, so you may as well give them out, which also lets other translators know you're not dead yet.

  39. I can relate to the feeling that Fuwa is past its prime, Ren. I feel the same a bit too, but that's because of change. Fuwa changed, not necessarily for the worse, but it might just be us who are drifting away from Fuwa. I miss many old members too, and as idiotic that sounds, this place has been the most homely place for me these last 2 years. I shared most of my troubles and happy moments with you guys, from FSG (RIP, long live the FSJPG) to this very thread to just general banter around the forums. People change, Ren. Places too. The difference is, places often don't remember changing, it's difficult to make a place "remember" something for its new inhabitants. As is expected from any other place, be it your old college or your favorite restaurant or just a little nook of the internet which exists to discuss VNs and have a jolly good time, these things change Ren. And cruelly, they never remember. Such is sad, but it is so. I really relate to your sadness and frustration about the change in this community, I really do. However, Fuwanovel has changed, Ren. And it's up to you to decide if you want to move on, seek the Fuwanovel of old, or change what Fuwanovel means to you. P. S.: You have done much, much more than it could be expected for this community, Ren. Just want to say that.

  40. I should point out that the Federal Court of Australia ordered the ISP addresses and contact information of all people who shared (pirated) 'Dallas Buyers Club' to be turned over to the copyright holders in America so they could pursue further action. After weighing things up they decided it wasn't worth it, but the lesson learnt was you can be exposed while in a different country. Cease and Desist works the same way, copyright doesn't stop once you hit a border. Copyright is a thing, copyright infringement is a thing, the threat is very real, and it's up to the individual who will be affected to risk actions which potentially endanger themselves in the future - people not affected shouldn't have a say. Snowden's seeking asylum in literally the only country willing to protect him. He's decidedly unhappy. EDIT: In April 2015, the Court ordered ISPs to hand over contact information of those who downloaded the movie. However in August 2015 the court ruled that the ISPs needn't hand over contact information because the damages sought by the company was too great. And that in the court's mind, damages should be limited to the cost of the movie + a share of court costs. That being said, it means that Americans can potentially sue Australians for damages for copyright infringement.

  42. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," eternally wise words that apply to all life scenarios. The problem is that you think Fuwanovel is critically damaged and in need of repairs. The truth is that it's actually kinda fine! If you attempt to fix something that isn't broken, you're bound to fail and end up worse off than you were before. Fuwanovel is at worse a bit slower than it used to be, and in reality is simply different from what you were used to in early 2014. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. You seem to find it really hard adapting to the current Fuwanovel, and because of this, you have deemed the site necessary to be "saved." Furthermore, you seem to have deemed yourself the only person worthy of this task, rarely ever working with anyone else to accomplish your goals. There's a whole community of members here who would love for fuwanovel to become a better place and are willing to put in the effort to try and make it happen. Some of us are already doing it. I'm doing it in the only way I know how, basically with my writing. So if I was to give some reason for why things turned out this way for you, they're 1) an overestimation of the severity of Fuwanovel's peril combined with a selfish viewpoint where it must be you who is the savior, instead of a mere cog in the machine helping things along, and 2) an unwillingness to work with everyone else who wants to make Fuwanovel a better place. I still don't know what your vision of Fuwanovel is, after all this time. I really can't tell what goals you were working towards. And that's a problem, when you're trying to be an almighty savior. If it's "a bustling community where OriginalRen is at the center, beloved by all," that's not a cause we need a savior for, frankly. And if that wasn't your goal, then I'm not entirely sure what your actions were meant to accomplish. Maybe you don't even realize it yourself, but that's the only future your actions were working towards. It didn't pan out because it's this forum does not seem interested in idolizing any single member. Sometimes communities evolve in ways you don't agree with. It's not always a bad thing, and usually it's best to just move on when that happens. It doesn't mean the forum needs to be "saved," it just means it's a different place now. That's okay. I hope things work out for you. Take it easy, buddy.

    Amnesia: Memories

Amnesia: Memories Summary A story that takes place in a fictional world... It was the 1st of August. That morning, when she awoke, the heroine found herself without any memories from before August 1st...... Everything, from the sort of life she lived, to the relationships she had, was a blank...... A young boy named Orion appeared in front of her, referring to himself as a "spirit." Under Orion's guidance, the heroine began the struggle to regain her memories. She searched her house for clues about her everyday life, and received a message on her phone... What was displayed on the screen was an unknown name to her. Now, she is asked to meet with him, a boyfriend whose name and face she doesn't know. In a position where who to trust is uncertain, the heroine must move in a way that her memory loss remains undetected by her partner. Because of this, the story becomes tangled in complex ways. With no memories of "him," our heroine will write a new love story starting today...... Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order There are 5 hero routes: Ikki, Kent, Shin, Touma, and Ukyo. To unlock Ukyo (Joker World), you need to get all other Hero's Good Ends first. Then start a completely new game. Route Guideline Ikki Kent Shin Touma Ukyo Attribution This walkthrough is based on info attained on https://welcometowonderland.me by the lovely Amnette with some adjustments made by me.

    Ayakashi Contract: Final Part

Haruka Haruka is the traditional 'older woman' heroine that used to be included in just about every VN, as a token to those who preferred that type. Of course, they don't come out and say how much older she is, but considering that she was in her teens when Tsumugi was a toddler... Anyway, she is a spiritualist/youkai hunter who comes to the town with the intention of hunting down a man-eater that is supposedly hidden in the populace. She gets wrapped up in the events of the main story in the common route and ends up settling in the town (and incidentally falling in love with Yukiya). She has some serious emotional scars, and overcoming those is a big part of her path. In this case, most of the obstacles that tend to be put in the path of her type of heroine and a younger protagonist don't exist, so don't expect much trouble from the outside about their romance. Rather, this path centers around her work, her personal traumas, and how she overcomes them with Yukiya's help. Like Minagi's path in the previous post, her path's ending is quite excellent and extends several years after the actual ending of the story, which left me feeling satisfied, needless to say. Anna Anna is the protagonist's younger cousin (who of course calls him oniichan, lol). She is a bright, energetic young girl with an eternal smile. Her path tends more toward the mundane, with a focus on rejuvenating the town through her and the protagonist's activities. The drama in her path is less tear-worthy than Minagi's or Haruka's, but in exchange you get a really hilarious scene in which the path's antagonist gets his just-desserts. Perhaps the funniest part about this path is the clashes between her father and Yukiya, though, lol. Similar to the other paths, it touches on events well-along the line after the endings, when Yukiya and Anna have settled down and begun living their non-student lives. Not only that, but it ends on a really sweet (cute-sweet, not cool-sweet) note that I'm sure soft-VN lovers will like. Midori Midori is the mayor's daughter and the story's serious, straight-laced heroine (of the 'iinchou' type). She is the most negative toward the youkai of all the heroines, and her start with the protagonist is about what you could expect with a lucky-sukebe event and a straight-laced girl, lol. The actual path is focused on the need - and it is present - to balance the needs of the forest and the youkai that live there with those of the people of the town. This search for a middle path is the source of most of the drama in the story, and it leads to some tense moments. Similar to Anna's path, this one isn't really tear-worthy, but it has enough laughs and normal emotional ups and downs to satisfy most readers. Her path goes the least distance from the end of the story and is thus the least fulfilling, from the perspective of those who love after-stories. Tsumugi Tsumugi is your typical 'wannabe' spiritualist. You know the type that you see in various anime/manga/VNs that love the occult and want to get involved with it but have absolutely no talent for it, right? Well, she's the typical one of that type. Similar to Haruka's path, this has a focus on the spiritualist side of things, and there is plenty of foreshadowing for those who are used to the typical patterns of VNs in modern fantasy settings. That said, it is carried out well, and the characters, setting, and events are all used to paint a really good picture. You'll probably cry at several points near the middle of her path, and the ending is quite satisfying (and adorable, lol). Like all the paths but Midori's in this VN, the after-story is quite satisfying and emotionally fulfilling. Overall The word that comes to mind with this VN is 'complete'. It is fairly rare to come across a VN that a company obviously has no intention of fandiscing to death or even hinting at some sort of side-story addition. This VN is designed to be one complete set of heroine stories, and it does everything it sets out to do about as well as you ever see. Those who like fantasy mixed with romance but without the intense violence of a chuunige will like this VN, as will those who like nakige. This is also my current prime candidate for VN of the Month (though Sumire would have been worthy if this hadn't been around). I know that most people will go 'eeeh, but I thought you disliked this kind of obvious moe-appeal VN?!' However, the fact is that any VN genre can be pleasurable if it is done as well as this one was.

  46. Before I start this, I should probably explain the company known as AXL to the newbies. AXL, which is known for Shugotate, as well as a number of other high-quality VNs, is an 'old-hand' company that was started pretty soon after the turn of the century. They developed an extremely beautiful art style, as well as a penchant for high-quality fantasy and romance stories. The thing most people will notice upon playing any two AXL games is that the art-style is exactly the same... it still possesses somewhat thicker lines than is the norm for VNs nowadays, and the actual character faces and poses tend to be reused heavily between games. The saving grace of this is that the actual quality of the original art is so high that it still looks pretty today, so you find that you don't really mind, for the most part. Common The common route of this game is a lot closer to what you would have seen in their best games, in that it is heavy on the story and the character development. From the very beginning, you are encouraged to enjoy the protagonist breaking out of his shell and developing a relationship with the heroines, the youkai, and his new male friends. The youkai, looking like adorable stuffed toys for the most part, are mostly comedy elements, and the protagonist's relationship with the tanuki Shouji is perhaps one of the most consistently amusing aspects of it all. There is a definite serious element to the story (AXL doesn't believe in completely drama-free main stories, apparently), but that makes for much better character development during the common route. It certainly made the heroine choice about something more than who had the biggest breasts or the cutest nose! lol (this was nice after the somewhat... disappointing heroines that resided in most of the VNs I've read so far from May) Minagi I'm regretting, in some ways, choosing Minagi first. Why? Because I can't imagine a better heroine to have picked for the main/true one, haha. Minagi is the VN's 'fushigi-chan', a girl who prefers the forest to school and who avoids others' company like the plague. However, underneath her lonely mask, there lies an incredibly adorable girl that is unbelievably easy to love. Her actual route is actually one that would not have been out of place as a true one, in another VN. Right from the beginning, straight through the end, you are learning more and more about the setting, about Minagi, and about how she and the protagonist are related to it all. The drama that takes up the last part of her route is particularly fitting for a canon/true/main heroine, and I honestly think it was worth it to play this, even if just for this route. Most importantly, the ending/epilogue actually goes into detail about what happens to the heroine and protagonist afterward, concluding better than five years after the events in the main story. If I had to classify this game so far, I'd have to put it in the 'nakige' category, simply because of how deeply emotional it gets at vital moments and the fact that I spent most of the ending and epilogue crying (in a good way).
