  1. Mmm... right now Dovac and Sekai Project are trying to get the best of both worlds with as little risk and as much benefit as possible. Eventually, their current model is going to screw them over if they aren't willing to settle for a lower margin on the h-material, just from a pragmatic perspective. If you sell three hundred h-versions but one thousand use the pirate patch who would have been willing to pay if the price was a bit lower... well, you can see who loses out, right? To be honest, it sometimes amazes me how much Dovac resembles that corrupt pharma bastard Shrkeli in tone and action. There isn't a whole lot to squeeze out of the VN market at this point, and if you go too far, about two-thirds of the normally-paying community will be perfectly willing to pirate your content if they think it is too highly priced (this is ignoring the people who pirate regardless, as their opinions really don't matter). As a practical matter, the VN community and industry has always been an interlinked seesaw that swings back between surges of piracy and purchases. This is because a lot of the people in the VN community don't have a ton of liquid assets in the first place, beyond what they need to stay alive and with a roof over their heads. If you price the VNs too high for the amount of content, the community pirates like crazy. If you price it too low, you don't make a profit. If he has a working brain, Dovac will eventually have to strike a balance between overt profit-mongering and sales... to be honest, his singular talent for alienating the community is pretty amusing from where I stand. As another practical matter, nukige-lovers started the VN localization industry, for all intents and purposes. Their insane obsessions resulted in the birth of the first VN-localization companies, and they still remain either the largest minority or the majority, depending on whom you ask. Avoiding h-content when you are trying to sell localized VNs in the West is fairly stupid, because you alienate the most solid, obsessed, and wealthy part of the fanbase... a fact that is what led to them releasing those overpriced h-versions in the first place, lol. I can see the logic behind what Dovac did, but the man is an idiot when it comes to PR. The way he speaks on Twitter is like saying to the world that the whole reason he is doing it is to squeeze more green paper juice out of the community and marginalize the h-addicts. Edit: To put it a bit more simply... all-ages titles are more likely to draw in the new crowd, but h-content is needed to satisfy the older, more wealthy and reliable crowd. Dovac is trying to squeeze the more reliable crowd, but he is doing it in a way that is way too blatant and stupid. Not a scrap of the subtle, manipulative marketer in that man... he probably is gambling that he won't alienate enough of the solid base with his strategy to lose a large percentage of their purchasing power outright. Unfortunately, the moron seems to be incapable of figuring his own loose tongue into the equation. Once again, Dovac is an idiot. Edit2: The best thing a company president can do in this kind of case is sit back and SAY NOTHING. Don't reply, don't throw insults, don't make reasoned arguments. Just shut up and let the community fight it out amongst themselves. There are enough people here willing to justify his case without having him throw a nuke into the ring.

  2. The way I look at it, the 18+ price is the full price of the game. The cheaper all ages version is a discount due to cut content. When both are priced the same, I honestly have a bit of an issue, that the all ages version isn't cheaper.

  4. I am never for actual story related sex scenes being removed. Blood and gore should also not be removed. But most VNs really dont do story related sex scenes. Maybe Grisaia, and thats it? Most are there to sell copies which is why I dont really care when they do get removed. I absolutely prefer two releases as opposed to an all ages only release, but again, it simply is not something I care very much about as it has no bearing on getting VNs more mainstream in the West in my opinion. I completely understand that some people really really enjoy the 18+ aspect, but said 18+ aspect will not make VNs popular to a wider audience. Might sell well in the current audience for sure. Again, actual story should never be cut. The MoeNovel debacle should never be repeated.

  5. I just finished it. Couple of informational notes: It's pretty short. I finished it in I think five sessions, and I generally don't have the attention span for more than about an hour at a time of anything. Also, I listened to the voice acting most of the time and have a tendency to read slowly. It ends on a big cliffhanger. There are no H scenes when you're actually playing the story, but I think all the H content is accessible from the main menu from the moment you install the patch. Some of the poster characters barely get any screen-time. The game mostly focuses on R-ne, Shino, Kumiko, and Keiji. I assume we'll see more of Lily, Yukie, and Kanade in the later volumes. More judgmental / opinionated things: It's super cute. The Emote stuff mostly looks pretty cute, too, although the set of animations it uses when walking towards the camera always looks weird to me. Other than that, big thumbs-up. They have a really broad set of animations (eye positions, especially) which they really put to good use to communicate emotion effectively. I really noticed that with Kumiko, especially, but that might just be me being fascinated with Kumiko... I found the setting and setup more interesting than a run-of-the-mill moege (as a baseline for what I mean by "run-of-the-mill moege", maybe consider Princess Evangile). Also, despite having a fairly unique setup, it doesn't burn a lot of time on infodumps, instead sliding stuff in pretty quietly while focusing on slice-of-life scenes for both characterization and character development (the latter happening mostly just for R-ne). This is not to say it's amazing or anything - just that it's better than average. Kanade and Kumiko are still duking it out for best girl in my mind. I'm betting on Kanade in the long run, but she really didn't get much time on the stage in this game, which was disappointing. The translation is frankly pretty bad. It's extremely literal, to the point of having very unnatural phrasing, with lots of wasei eigo just carried over word for word which often comes out as near-gibberish. Though it did seem like they were getting better at that particular problem as the script progressed. That said, the script has been been pretty well copy-edited and proofread, so most people probably won't notice or mind the issues... One point in favor of the translation: the translator did a decent job of making character voices unique and (fairly) consistent. I think they definitely went too far with infantilizing R-ne's speech, especially since she's supposed to mature a fair bit over the course of the game, and it would've been better if her speech had reflected that, but otherwise I saw and appreciated the differences in how each of the characters talked. So, kudos on that.

  7. I think Dovac's frustration goes way beyond of just loosing the money for an upgrade patch. It's not exactly new information that sales on their Denpasoft site aren't particularly great. Dovac complained about that fact often enough and frequently used it as an argument to defend their all ages policy. And naturally, many people get upset about that, arguing that adult titles sell pretty well for MangaGamer. However, what most people probably don't see is that Sekai Project isn't MangaGamer, and there is actually a vast difference between those two companies: If it comes to all ages titles sold on Steam, both companies are more or less equal, because for a typical Steam user it doesn't really matter who's the publisher of the title he wants to buy. However, things are different if it comes to adult titles. Since those either can't be sold on Steam at all, or just as a stripped-down version, the own home site where adult titles can be sold comes into play. And with that we are slowly getting closer to the true reasons why MangaGamer are huge adult-freaks while Sekai Project just need to hear the word 'adult' to get into a bad mood and go tsun-tsun. Overall, my personal estimate is that the MangaGamer site has about 10 - 20 times as much accounts as Sekai Project's adult site Denpasoft. Now, what does that mean? First, it means that if MangaGamer sells an adult only title on their home page it would sell approximately 10 - 20 times better as if Sekai Project would sell it on their Denpasoft site. Second, it also means that titles which are also available on Steam can be sold on their own site which saves them the hefty 30% Steam fee. I'm a pretty good example for that myself. I've an account both on Steam and MangaGamer. And yesterday I bought Supipara on the MangaGamer site which means they didn't have to pay the 30% Steam fee for my copy. But I bought all the titles from Sekai Project so far on Steam because I don't have an account on Denpasoft, which means they lost 30% of my money to Steam. So I think it should be clear that Sekai Project are in a significant disadvantage compared to MangaGamer if it comes to adult titles. But why has MangaGamer so much more accounts than Denpasoft? I think that's also quite easy to answer. MangaGamer is a much older company than Sekain Project with an already established retail site for adult titles. Most people don't like creating new accounts (I personally hate it), so it simply takes time to convince people to create an account and you have have to give them a good reason for it. But what has Sekai Project to offer on their adult site? Frankly, not much! Pretty much just a few adult patches for Steam titles where I can easily get the patch for free. And it's hard to make people feel guily just for downloading an adult patch if they actually bougth the title legally on Steam. And what has MangaGamer to offer? Lots of high quality adult only titles which were or still are very popular like ImoPara, Eroge, Koihime, Beat Blades Haruka and many more. So what can Sekai Project do to get more accounts on their site? This is ironically almost a vicious circle. To get more accounts they have to offer something everybody wants which isn't available on Steam. A popular nukige for example, but who wants to give them one as long as their adult site is an account graveyard with an almost guaranteed sales flop? I'm sure this ridiculous problem makes them want to tear their hair out at times. I personally think they have the best chances with Sayori's Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Akuma since it's an absolute gorgeous nukige from a very popular artist with an already established fan base in the west. And while most people probably think that the Baldr Sky series is Sekai Project's most important license achievement this year, I tend to disagree. Baldr Sky won't solve the problem with their Denpasoft site but Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Akuma might be able to. So I think for them this good for nothing nukige is even more important for their future than the hyper popular Baldr license. And if they really want to butcher this title for Steam (which might have been a condition from Smile to even get it), then I really hope that they are smart enough to delay the Steam release as long as possible. They absolutely HAVE to offer something exclusive on their Denpasoft site or people will continue to give a damn about it. While this text wall won't make Dovac's answers more diplomatic, I hope it at least gives some understanding why he sometimes tends to overreact a bit if it comes to this topic. It must be absolutely frustrating for him to get constantly criticized for his all ages focus even if he tries to get his Denpasoft site going for years now. Steam and Kickstarter made the fast growth of Sekai Project possible, but unfortunately there's no 'adult Steam' site they could use. So their adult section will take longer for the simple reason that they have to establish their own site for it, and that can take years. Actually, the best thing people can do who want more adult titles from Sekai Project, is creating an account on Denpasoft and buy every available title from there instead of Steam. Well, I'm admittedly a pretty bad example for that since I personally don't have an account there yet, but I plan to change that for the Koikuma release.

  8. The only issue I have with this is that the precedent for all ages costing less than the adult version has already been set—and not by Sekai Project. Kira Kira costs $30 on MangaGamer's store but has an all ages version for $20. The price difference is the same for Princess Evangile's two versions: $10. Is the adult content for both VNs worth the ten extra dollars? The crux of the matter is: Is KARAKARA's short length the only reason people are miffed about paying $10 more? Would people not care as much if it were $5 more instead? Or are people upset that they have to pay for a patch at all? Because if patches were to become free then that would further invalidate the need for Denpasoft, which I don't see to be good for the prospect of future adult releases from Sekai Project. I'm under the impression that Sekai Project has been working on Koikuma for a while, and presumably their work has only been on the adult version because even they didn't know that the Japanese developer wanted a Steam version (even their press release said "coming soon exclusively to Denpasoft.com"). In this case, I think Sekai Project should really consider releasing the adult version first on Denpasoft. They need to cultivate an audience for their adult platform, and I don't see a better way to do so. Another simultaneous release would steer Denpasoft even further from relevancy. I've also heard that Koikuma would need a lot of sanitizing to make it suitable for Steam, so maybe a patch wouldn't even be practical. This could be a positive for directing people to Denpasoft if they want the best version.

  12. Putting aside the discussion on fairness for the moment, Sekai Project's main audience and costumers are undoubtedly the Steam users and, regrettably, it is more sound of a business decision to provide a cheaper Steam game. Essentially, the cheaper the VN on Steam, the more sales it gets (18+ or otherwise). Let's say they do indeed charge those 15 dollars for the game.* If the drop in sales is too steep, it simply does not compensate. 1) Currently, they get the many Steam buyers (10 dollars) plus the few willing to buy the 18+ patch (10 dollars). 2) If they were to raise the core game to 15 and lower the patch to 5, less Steam users would buy the game, but more would buy both the game and the 18+ patch. 3) Finally, they could raise the price of the main game to 20, and make the 18+ patch free. This would guarantee the adult audience, but scare away the Steam audience due to high prices. Reality isn't quite so simple that maths would solve this issue. It's not directly proportional and there's no ideal option. There is, however, one guarantee: The Steam audience is larger, if less willing with their wallets, than the adult audience. Here's the issue. Sekai Project believes the sound business decision is option one, for it has worked out for them thus far (In this assessment, I'm ignoring any potential views on wanting to spread the visual novel genre to as many new costumers as possible). They have no evidence to the contrary and therefore, I completely understand that they will continue to damn the adult consumers with higher prices. Somebody on this thread brought up the interesting point that Sekai Project is, for the first time, localising a Nukige. That game will be crucial for Sekai Project, as it'll permit them to gauge their adult audience and compare sales between Steam and non-steam games. After said title, they may consider that the adult audience may be worth more effort cultivating... or perhaps, just the opposite.** *I'm unsure of the actual values so I'll just start on the assumption that the main game costs 10 dollars right now, and so does the H-Content. **I do see two issues with this, however. One is the Steam version for that game. If we assume the same strategy will take place and that the Steam version will be cheaper; how much will the 18+ patch cost? It's the majority of the content, after all. And how many pirates will the Steam version bring with it? It's just "patching a game I already bought", after all. The second is that due to the disdain Sekai Project has received from the adult community as of late, due to allegedly unfair pricing and disregard toward adult consumers, said adult consumers may actively sabotage the sales of Sekai Project's Nukige, ending Sekai Project's venture into the adult scene once and for all (or at least, putting the few willing adult buyers in an even worse position).

  14. Yeah, it's really ridiculous. You don't really lure any (sane) customers to your site with such a price policy. I'd even go so far to say that Sekai would be even better off, if they offered at least some of their H-patches for a very small price tag like 1 € or even for free. The only condition would be to create an account on their site. That way they could cultivate the soil for future titles. I honestly don't understand why Sekai isn't aware of the value of accounts. They do so many things right, but here... *sigh*. Larger retail sites use even much more aggressive ways to acquire new customers. Gog and Origin for example give away whole games for free in regular intervals to lure people away from Steam. Sekai could do a similar thing at least on a smaller scale like 'because 2nd year anniversary' or 'the sky is blue today' you get X for free or dirt cheap from our site if you have an account.

  15. I haven't seen anything definitive about chapters 2 and 3. What we were told beforehand was that the translator responsible for Chapter 1 did not do the main translation for any additional chapters, and he seemed to indicate that everyone else on the project were much worse. Here's another cool tidbit: Remember this? It turns out that it was for ChuSinGura. Some people who have contacted them claim that they seemed poorly organized and didn't have a clue on what they were doing. They hired a whole lot of translators to translate this thing as fast as humanly possible. They seem to have hired someone decent for chapter 1, but failed to get anyone as good for the rest. It also seems that they failed to hire any editors or proofreaders, as became evident by the release state of Chapter 1.

  18. I think everyone basically agrees that the imouto works guy is totally at fault here, and he's handling this situation just as poorly as dovac in his own way. He doesn't have the right to demand an email or other forms of conversation from SP, a richer company would have let the lawyers deal with it without the CEO ever saying a word to the guy. Imouto works would lose and have to shoulder all the legals fees of SP then and that would sink them i think. The things dovac says on his twitter amazes me though, "I can't wait to exit this market. Jesus Christ" for example, [also referencing the other things you guys have mentioned]. I get that you're mad and you put a disclaimer up saying that it's your own opinion and not that of the company but come on. You are the face of Sekai, if you say something like that openly on your acc, your supporters are going to feel let down and cast aside. Knowing that these thoughts may be a possibility or a goal to you after all the support you've gotten from consumers... I know a lot of people hate on SP for whatever reason and I'm not going to argue those points. I'm saying that he should focus on all the positives and just learn from the negatives. Not harp on it in public spaces for all to see and provide ammunition for the people that hate you. It would be disappointing if he just snaps one day [what if? scenario] and decides to scrap SP's involvement in Vns and reset to something else. They've brought in some great games, and i'm sure they'll keep getting more in time. [not going to mention the negatives, everyone has their own points on those]. This Dovac guy just needs to learn how to deal with haters or hire someone else to deal with them. Also not put everything out in the open. That disclaimer doesn't mean a thing when you're the CEO of the company.

  19. To me, it looks like Dovac and Sekai Project created that sub-brand so that they could handle h-content at a remove (with the proverbial ten foot pole) so that if legal issues about obscenity laws pop up they can cut the sub-brand and blame everything on the people running it, so they don't have to fork out the cash for legal fees and to handle the bad publicity they are really afraid of. A large factor contributing to the fact that the VN localization industry is so small is because of erotic content, after all. It just isn't worth the risk in the mind of someone who isn't an otaku himself. Edit: As for Imouto Works... I'm neutral, simply because both sides are being stupid at this point. Edit2: From the point of view of a corporate leader who isn't a VN-reading hentai otaku, there is little to no value in keeping the h-content, as it adds to potential risks in a business that is already medium-risk, low-profit (translation costs, licensing costs, etc versus unknown number of people willing to purchase it) industry.

  20. There's no way the 18+ version of a game like KaraKara is sold for $10, none of the major VN companies would ever do that. Instead of making every version of the game cost the same, SP decided to give a cheaper option for people who want less content. EA sells games for the standard $60 and then sells DLC on top of that, that's a different story.
    2 points
  21. Content that was in the game, that they re-sold. It's the same tactic EA has used for years now. Stripping a part of the game out, and selling it as DLC. Besides his unprofessional attitude, this is the issue people are seeing. I also love the whole people talking about "Pirates not deserving respect / providing pirated content doesn't" You do know that until a little over a year ago, FUWANovel was the biggest distributor of pirated VN content on the Internet? Hundreds of releases. https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/2wiow4/im_the_admin_at_fuwanovel_confirming_changes/ Almost everyone on this website has pirated a VN. PRobably has lately even. To top it off, many long time, big members of this community released torrents for said games. Now those same members are saying pirates are scum. Love it.

  22. Well if that is your stance on it, you don't need to be a part of the discussion. It means something to certain people, even if it's just useless porn to you. This was ... interesting. Obviously the guy making free patches is in the wrong, but the absolutely childish behavoir from the SP guy is really pathetic to look at. And the fact that he does it openly to the public makes it 10x worse. As for the price of the H-content, honestly, I don't care. I want the game the way it was meant to be played, and I'll pay whatever price they put it down for. At least it means we don't have a censored release like G-senjou again when they make patches, even if you have to pay extra for it. FrontWing just did the same thing with Corona Blossom, so it's not just SP.

  23. That’s a flawed idea, and it’s flawed because you’re attributing worth to amount of content. This is probably the same sort of idea Key has (quality equals number of lines) when they pump out their horrendously bloated VNs. In fact, many content creators will tell you the same thing, which is that charging proportionally for items due to ‘content’ is not the way to go. If Rowling withheld the 2nd last chapter of Harry Potter from everyone, the bit with the climax in it, how much would that be worth to people? I'd wager the number of lines has very little to do with it. Whether Sekai overcharges for the erotic content or not is probably related to business decisions that I’m not going to comment on. But the idea of setting a price for one version of the story based (loosely or not) on how many additional lines or CGs are added is something I'm loath to endorse. For a whole crapload of reasons. Reasons most of the community don't think about. Sure, companies abuse this by setting the price of expansion or additional content arbitrarily high, but isn't this solved by traditional market pressures? If companies set the price of additional content too high, people won't buy and they'll lose money? And if people do buy, then it's obviously not too high? The alternative 'pricing for amount of content' isn't really a road I want to head down.

  24. Acchi Kocchi remained cute to the end and was very good at narcotising me if I watched it late at night, making it easy for me to go to bed. The lack of any sort of character development or romantic progression is annoying enough to make me glad it was only 12 episodes long. Just finished watching "Karin" as a romcom. It was decent enough and had a very satisfying ending making me add it to my ultimately satisfying ending list. I didn't find it hilarious or anything but at least the situation comedy almost never relied on standard romantic tropes. Now going to try and watch Welcome to the NHK followed by Kimi ni Todoke.

  26. Summary: One day, the face of the Earth was changed permanently when it came into contact with a mysterious force known as the “Alpha Nebula”. With it, humans developed various unexplainable abilities, and divided themselves based on those traits. The main factions include: The Tonitrui, the Excedente, the Praecantator, the Permuto, and the Northmanni. All have their own set of unique abilities that came with infamous Alpha Nebula collision, with the exception of the Northmanni who remain largely unchanged. Among these races however, existed a special group of people who managed to retain all the other race’s abilities. They were a very powerful, but small isolated group of people, called “emulators”. Arin Arlento was one of these people, living in a remote village with his grandfather and other emulators. All was going peacefully, until it was attacked by the Northmanni empire, who slaughtered his entire race and kidnapped his childhood friend, Aria. Being the only other survivor, Arin escaped into the Northmanni empire, hiding and plotting his revenge. That is until finding out that Aria is still alive, and is being experimented on by the Northmanni. Resentful of the world that took everything away from him, Arin begins his quest to retrieve his friend, and exact retribution on those who destroyed all that he held dear. Random VNs: Damekoi Part 1

It has been a while since I did a partial post on a VN, and most of the time I either do it out of enthusiasm or because I got a specific request for a path-by-path detailed report from a friend. In this case, it is because I ran out of time to finish Sekai de Ichiban Dame na Koi after I played through half the game and two of the paths. I ran out of time because my copy of Senren Banka, which I asked me friend to ship to me directly, arrived two days early. I wasn't expecting it until Tuesday at the earliest, and more likely I thought it would arrive on Friday, lol. I didn't have an excuse to keep playing Damekoi at that point, so I had to start on the VN of the Month. Damekoi is a type of VN we almost never see today... in a number of ways. First is that the protagonist is a full adult, without the need for the usual 'all characters are over eighteen' BS. Second is that he is a semi-hetare (despite the tags, calling him a total hetare is inaccurate, as he is actually quite capable in his limited field of capabilities), which has pretty much gone extinct as a protagonist type save for in those shota reverse-rape monster girl VNs that have gotten so popular in the last four years or so, lol. The third way is that it is pretty much the only VN I've played that uses the G-senjou story-split structure without making it seem like the side-heroines were neglected or the main storyline was left in the dust. Understand, I believe the G-senjou no Maou story structure is an integral flaw added to any VN that uses it. First, it is based off of there being a main storyline that is full canon. In the case of Aiyoku no Eustia it was Eustia's path, and everyone knows which one it was with G-senjou. That makes it an absolute necessity to maintain a certain consistency with the main storyline... but the fact is that most VN writers simply don't have the necessary multi-tasking capabilities to manage that many different threads in a consistent manner. As a result, you get massive inconsistency in the sub-heroine paths in most cases... and for someone like me, who demands consistency in heavy story VNs, this can go beyond annoyance to insane rage, regardless of how much I enjoyed things up to a point (it took me three years to forgive G-senjou, and I still haven't forgiven Eustia). I honestly don't know how they intend to solve things in this case. I've been playing the side heroine paths as they come up, and so I can only give you my 'in-progress' views of this game, which is considered a classic by many and has been one of the few 'gold stars' in my backlog full of crap and moege. To be blunt, this protagonist is a run-down salaryman in in his late twenties, who is kind-hearted but fundamentally unwise when it comes to preserving himself. He has an extremely low self-esteem despite being quite capable/talented, and he has the worst kind of bad luck. He, like more and more young people in this age in fully-industrialized nations, suffers from a sense of alienation from his fellow man, partially created by his alienation from his own family as a result of both of them constantly working and rarely coming home. This has resulted in a nice young man who nonetheless is utterly incapable of reading the people around him without as much as ten times more clues than anyone else would need, lol. The heroines are... interesting. Universally, they are the type of women who are attracted to men that 'need taking care of'. Their varying personalities and viewpoints on life only serve to emphasize this common element, and it frequently leads to conflicts and tension between them. The main heroine, Mitoko, is the daughter of a woman who ran off with a man on a whim, leaving her to take care of an ancient apartment in one of the wealthiest parts of town. Now, anyone with a lick of common sense would instantly sell that prime real-estate at an inflated price and put up a newer apartment in a somewhat cheaper location. However, expecting that kind of common-sense attitude out of any of the heroines in this VN when it comes to their own affairs (as opposed to the protagonist's, lol) is somewhat... ridiculous. Mitoko has that puppy-love thing going for the protagonist almost from the beginning, though she is the oldest type of tsundere (before the term was coined and Zero no Tsukaima patternized even the speech of the archetype) who beats up on the protagonist whenever he does something wrong but fundamentally is positive toward him. Unfortunately for Mitoko, Osamu isn't exactly perceptive when it comes to the emotions of others, so he takes her at face value most of the time, hahaha. The first two heroines - and the ones whose paths I finished - are Kaya and Himeo. Kaya is a somewhat lazy office lady who is a bit younger than the protagonist. She falls head over heels for him after seeing him at work, and she is rather straightforward about her affections, actively trying to turn him into a freeloader she'll take care of for the rest of his life. Himeo is the daughter of the president of a major real-estate conglomerate with a penchant for charitable causes and an unreasonably intense affection for Mitoko that manifests itself in some seriously screwy ways, though it is sincere. Both paths have to deal with Mitoko's jealousy, the fact that the protagonist's first priority is always going to be Mitoko, and the instabilities of the heroines involved. The protagonist's emotions toward Mitoko are definitely fatherly, and their intensity combines with his sense of duty to make it impossible for him to make them his first priority outside of certain moments. I've honestly enjoyed this VN up until now, and I think it would be a good read for someone who is looking for something 'different'. I can also tell why this never solidified as a genre archetype, as most of the people reading VNs in Japan are the type of people who would hate using a Japanese salaryman as their perspective of the story, lol.

  37. This is one of the very best visual novels i played and i played like over 200 already. it is like higurashi and its a very good one. gonna buy the chapters to support the devs even though i had the full japanese version + fandish. just disapointed at the fact that they stated they will never do a 18+ patch ;(

  38. Problem: the premise for most of your post appears to be baseless speculation. Consider: what if some random dude on Twitter told you to take down some fan project you worked on? You know, because he said so. Imouto Works has no connection to the VN scene. He had no idea who Dovac is.

  39. Yeah, I don't like both their attitudes to be honest. It just reflects more poorly on Dovac because of the position he holds. He's not taking it down unless he's asked in a specific way? There's a difference between asking for respect and playing around.

  40. I'm starting to admire Raimond Quinn, a CEO that speaks with onesty and has no problem with bashing the 18+ troglodites.

  41. You're right. The later parts of the series were a lot more engaging and the atmosphere did eventually get pretty serious. Trigun bares a striking resemblance to Rurouni Kenshin in regards to pacifism, except that in Trigun there's more pressure on the protagonist to not kill. It was awfully interesting. That being said, I felt like there were certain parts of the series that didn't play out very well to me. For the most part, it involved the emotions being expressed by the characters which I didn't feel like I could personally connect to. But that probably has more to due with my preferences in direction than the quality of the show. I still don't like the action that much either. Personal gripes aside, it was a fun watch!

  43. Because after the starter phase, most people become to pretentious to appreciate it. "I only read REAL japanese Visual Novels" and stuff like that.

  44. They aren't. Causalfags are complaining just because they are there and also involve Aria and Kaya, the two main heroines. And yes, it's a fantastic, beautifully crafted game with great replay value; highly recommended.
