  1. I read it. It's pretty much the prototype to Sayonara wo Oshiete. It's hard to recommend the game because it feels very unfinished. Literally 30 minutes after stuff begins to get interesting the game ends. The ending itself is a huge letdown. But to be honest, that doesn't matter much. Everything before the last few minutes is simply perfect even though it seems like only a big prologue building up to something (which in the end will disappoint). The depiction of the life of the protagonist, his rise to madness, his interaction with other people and the other people themselves are all written brilliantly. There are so many scenes which I can now, 3 years after I played the game, still remember clearly because they had such a big impact on me and are still haunting my subconscious. (I think it's even better than Sayonara wo Oshiete in that regard, but Sayonara is clearly the better, more refined game overall and features much more themes than just being socially retarded.) A special mention deserves the fantastic soundtrack which nearly only consists of creepy arrangements of Beethoven's "für elise". To sum it up; I recommend it to every fan of Sayonara wo Oshiete. You won't find a better, more realistic depiction of madness and social anxiety in any other eroge (the closest would probably be Sayonara). Just don't expect a "full game" or a satisfying conclusion.

Y'know, this isn't gonna go anywhere if someone doesn't concretely lists what plot holes they think there are in Steins;Gate so we can examine them.

  4. So, after several weeks of grinding I finally finished Ikusa Megami Zero. It was overall a very mixed bag with light and shadows and some of the lights were particular bright while some of the shadows were pretty dark. The Good: The Bad: The Ugly: Heroine rating: Haishera >>> Amdusias = Hakuginkou > Sora no Yuushi >>> Don’t care Final rating: 7/10 (Haishera was great, but the ridiculous over-sexualization of the plot and the crappy protagonist really drags it down.)

  5. 1) Handle: Octamatron 2) Positions you can fill: Translator 3) Types of projects (VNs) preferred: NTR, Netori, Galge, Nukige, but i prefer hardcore drama romance like White album. 4) Availability: Currently unavailable. Working for Luna translations. 5) VNs most interested in producing an ftl for: White album, White album 2, 妻みぐい3, 麻呂の患者はガテン系 (or anything good from ELF), AliceSoft's 戦女神 series and last but not least NTRPG1,2 and soon to come out 3. (they are not ADV's, but i would love to translate them, because of the mastery they are done with) 6) Motivation for joining in on ftl: Getting to know people from this niche and getting better at Japanese. 7) Conditions: I WON'T WORK ON: Scat, Guro, Horror or anything like that. As long as it is pretty, I don't care wheter it tears out my heart (so NTR is okay).

  7. To be completely honest, I am basically ignoring both of these. Lately, my interest in both childish lolis and incest has hit an all time low. You can basically go through the game without meeting most of the 7 or so heroines (or at least, hardly ever seeing them for more than a minute) outside of that blond Elis and Kiri. Now then, I may be praising Canvas 2, but I know for a fact you're a picky eater and I should warn you: I'll eat up any kind of rubbish. Me praising Canvas 2 is worth jack. It's probably a terrible game with nonsensical writing. It's just that I can't tell that kind of thing myself so I'll enjoy any "moe crapfest" that comes in my general direction.

  9. It kinda became a meme on steam like Nekopara. I have friends who pretty much buy any Sakura game on day 1. Oh and those people aren't VN readers at all. They only want to be part of the ''club'', at least thats what some of them told me when I asked them why do they buy Sakura.

  11. Summary: One day, the face of the Earth was changed permanently when it came into contact with a mysterious force known as the “Alpha Nebula”. With it, humans developed various unexplainable abilities, and divided themselves based on those traits. The main factions include: The Tonitrui, the Excedente, the Praecantator, the Permuto, and the Northmanni. All have their own set of unique abilities that came with infamous Alpha Nebula collision, with the exception of the Northmanni who remain largely unchanged. Among these races however, existed a special group of people who managed to retain all the other race’s abilities. They were a very powerful, but small isolated group of people, called “emulators”. Arin Arlento was one of these people, living in a remote village with his grandfather and other emulators. All was going peacefully, until it was attacked by the Northmanni empire, who slaughtered his entire race and kidnapped his childhood friend, Aria. Being the only other survivor, Arin escaped into the Northmanni empire, hiding and plotting his revenge. That is until finding out that Aria is still alive, and is being experimented on by the Northmanni. Resentful of the world that took everything away from him, Arin begins his quest to retrieve his friend, and exact retribution on those who destroyed all that he held dear. It’s one misguided man against the world. Genres:[action, adventure, superpower, psychological, romance, war.] The GUI, done by Trey Fletcher; Structure: the story would be mostly linear as the choices mostly appear during battle and have their instant bad ends attached to it. The common route before each branching point is not very long as it serves to introduce the heroine who you would be branching into. It has an enforced playing order of Alacria->Aniam. Once the reader branches into the four other heroines the main story ends there and it focuses on the specific problems of the heroine. Due to various issues, Episicava would be released in 3 separate volumes as opposed to one whole. Setting: one of the main features of this story is that it is adventure styled. The protagonist and his posse of troubled combat capable girls move about on the various continents to seek new shelter. Each continent represents an ethnicity or fault of human nature. Northmanni- Modern day society. Styled after Japan and America. Fulgur- represents humanity’s scientific progression and the harm it causes. Tribus- represents African tribalism and the cultural implications it puts on its people. Progress: story- 1) prologue- 100% (will be used for demo) 2)part 1- { common route 100%, Alacria's route 70%} 3)part 2- {common route 100%, Aniam's route 70%} art- 1) sprites - 85% 2) bgs - 100% 3) cgs - 95% 4) GUI- 100% 5) Character designs- 100% music- 100% programming - 75% Team; Kotario (me) - Lead dev and main writer Snailmusk - Assistant dev and secondary writer Tristan Hallihan (Cipher) - Secondary writer Tim Reichert - Composer Nathan Cleary - Composer/Sound designer Leo Flores - Concept artist and character design Zhao - Main Character Artist and character design Hanh Chu - Secondary Character Artist Kertasu - Secondary Character artist Alais Legrand - Backgrounds Artist Joe "Bonesy" - Programmer/Marketer/PR Valhalla - Graphic Designer miscellaneous Please show your support for the Episicava visual novel by becoming a patron! thank you! https://www.patreon.com/user?u=3731847 check out our website at : http://epicworksnovels.com Some of our recently done CGS: Some of the backgrounds done by Alais Legrand; Thanks!

    What are you playing?

Finally sifted through the end of Umineko: Episode 5. What a mess. The pacing is all over the place. This is easily the worst episode I've read so far. The ending just kept on dragging on and on like LotRs: The Return of the King - without the charm and heartwarming moments. Compared to earlier episodes, which had a nice balance of excitement and bleakness, this one was just bleak 70% of the time. It felt like struggling through a swamp while trapped in the middle of nowhere, sapping my stamina away while taunting me with despair. It's a terrible read. I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't mind dark and bleak stories at all. Hell, I'm a sucker for them. But this is mood whiplash, a sudden change of tone from previous episodes where there was at least some kind of adrenaline rush to keep you entertained amidst the death and despair. I just didn't have as much fun reading it as I did before in episode 1-4. I think the main reason why this is so is because the characters are either annoying Mary-Sues (Trollkastel) who can't be remotely overcame, or just idiots who are too dumb to live (Natsuhi). There's nothing about them that kept me engaged. The only characters I like in this episode is Battler (of course) and the newly introduced Dlanor. Dlanor is a powerful character done right. Trollkastel is a powerful character done so wrong. Don't get me started with Erika, that bitch.

  18. On the flipside of this (I love a good soundtrack too), I can listen to the Grisaia soundtrack all day long - and for that matter I have. I personally really enjoyed Grisaia, though I'll agree that the plotline is... completely batshit in its conception. Like, it's not 'ZOMGGG I'M SO RANDOMMM RAWR' but there's just themes, occurrences and dialogues that would just never happen. But then, it's a visual novel, so as far as I'm concerned it doesn't have to stay within the planes of reality (like, this is a thing [NSFW depending on vndb settings]) Personally, I really like the protagonist too, which was a major +1. Haven't played Princess Evangile, but the plot premise sounds fucking revolting

  20. Boku no Hitori Sensou was one of the biggest disappointments I've had since I started reading untranslated. I can't believe it's written by the same person who wrote G-senjou no Maou. Should've taken those votes into account. Edit: the amazing BGM is wasted on this game, it's the only reason I'm not uninstalling it...

    True or False

Fuwanovel in a nutshell: We hate weebs, but wanna bring Japanese goods to those American weebs anyway. Kidding... kidding! I can't think of anything. To make a statement about Fuwanovel in a nutshell without joking sounds way too boring to me, because it's basically "Cool VN fans who have a great knowledge of the Japanese language and wanna share that world of VNs with the world." Yeah, that's pretty cool and all, but it's not really an interesting statement. Next person doesn't really like people who don't take things seriously...

  24. I picked up SupiPara last night and have played a couple hours. I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. Right now, it feels kind of like it's setting up a lighthearted moege, but between the overarching theme of memory and the game coming from minori, I'm expecting shit to get a little bit more real before too long. As far as characters, I found Sakura pretty likeable right off the bat, and she's only been getting stronger in every scene. The other characters are more slowly growing on me as well, especially the MC's mother. The art is, of course, gorgeous. Characters have that same glow I saw in eden*, which makes everything look soft and lush. And of course it's all pseudo-animated (tons and tons of sprites). Back and profile sprites are both rare, though everybody seems to be raving about Muv Luv's back sprites lately, but SupiPara has both and gets a lot of mileage out of them. The effect of the profile sprite is especially dramatic, for me, and I honestly don't recall seeing that sprite angle anywhere else before (though of course my experience isn't that broad). I am having some issues with the engine, I think. I usually play on a tablet, which has never given me problems before, but the text display is excruciatingly slow, even after I set it to max, and the animations sometimes look a little choppy or just plain slow, especially when two sprites are on the screen at the same time. Probably going to switch to the desktop and hope that handles it better.

  25. Canvas 2 is waaay better than I expected. I'll bash the translation any day and typos are aplenty, but the Visual Novel itself seems great. I'm not even sure whether I'm on the common route or in a route or whatever, but it's long, it feels like I'm in control, and it feels really well crafted. It feels even more divergent than CLANNAD, and that's one hell of an achievement. The first playthrough, without a walkhrough, of this Visual Novel is truly magical. It feels like you're in control but it's not nearly as messy as CLANNAD. It's marvellous. The issue? I haven't gotten into a real route as far as I can tell, so I don't know how the romance proper will be. Will it be an *enters relationship* *has sex* *the end* sort of thing? I'm hoping not but it's feeling like it. Regardless, even if that were to be the case, I cannot deny that even the daily scenes can feel fairly romantic on occasion. EDIT: Also, a love triangle with two men outside of an otome. This is unprecedented! I, Protagonist-sama, have competition? Outrageous! Completely unrealistic!
