  1. I'm sure MG is feeling pretty good about their decision to dump these guys right about now.

  2. As the title suggests, after what feels like an era of ruthless opression through the modern and cute, studio Gainax in comradeship with the korean publisher CFK finally decided on maning up against todays filth, bringing over the horrendously adorable "Princess Maker 2 Refine" for a mere sum of 19,99$, even willing to offer a 20 percentual discount to the fast and utmost longing. Rejoice! edit: seems its sales-numbers will determine if a possible release of the series later installments might become a reality as well, something which hasn´t been ruled out by the ones responsible as of yet. http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/373/1373026/

  4. The decision point in the OP doesn't make much sense, but I take it this in an attempt by Winged Cloud to gain more Patreon subscribers? So the game is probably distributed for free with nag messages to subscribe for extra content (probably H-scenes)? I'm not fundamentally opposed to this model if you can assess at a glance, before you download the game, how much you'll need to pay to get the experience you expect. In this case, if that's a straight $30, that's much more than I'd be willing to pay for a short throwaway indie title from the likes of Winged Cloud. But as long as I don't feel "entrapped" into sinking more money than I expected, the payment model doesn't particularly bother me. If it encourages people to pay rather than freeload and doesn't disrupt the gameplay (e.g., by offering gameplay incentives), then have at it. Edit 1: I checked Denpasoft's store page and while the game is distributed for free, they don't even mention that there's in-app purchases. Sasuga Sekai Project. Way to blindside your users. Seriously? Looks like they're taking pointers from Nutaku! Edit 2: And here's what comes up when I click the 'download' link on the Denpasoft store page. Seriously, Sekai Project? Seriously? You're really letting Winged Cloud do this to you? Are you out of your minds?

  5. What the hell happened. Kanon. Simple little old VN by Key. 1) One of the best protagonists ever. Sarcastic, no bullshit, no pandering to stupid airheads, normal guy. 2) Humour on par with Muv Luv Extra (some similiarities in randomness) and Majikoi. I twice nearly cried of laughter and countless times laughed out loud (in only 3-4 hours of reading!) 3) Choices system. It's great. It works perfectly. I can choose if I want protag to be a meek asshole who only smiles to everybody, or I can choose him to be direct, honest almost assholish Greatest Protag Ever. Quick example. Girl is helping him unpack his boxes after he moved to a new house. Protag is saying in his narration that she abrely did anything. Girl is happily asking if she was helpful. Choice 'Yeah, you were' or 'No, you were more of a hindrance'. Sucha a great choice. Such an enjoyable system. 4) Awful, awkward, crooked art. And I love it. It's great. It's awful, but great. If it makes any sense. 5) Great 'just one more line' syndrom. It's 4:20 at night here I need to wake up at least at 10, but I just can't stop reading! I love it. LOVE it. Haven't feel such a joy from VN (I felt a lot of incredible emotions, but dread or utter sadness from FataMorgana is not exactly 'joy') since I read Majikoi. ^^

  6. I put Steins;Gate on the backburner, as Flowers finally showed up. I had done really well to avoid any Spoilers, to the point that I didn't even know the main character's names. It was a bit of a surprise when Mayuri showed up. She looks and acts a bit different, doesn't seem to have any memories of her time at Future Gadgets Lab. Not even one "Tutturu~" out of her. I've landed on a strange worldline.

  7. Finished Nekopara vol. 1. It was about as shit as I expected, tbh. Great production values though, it's a shame they were wasted on... this. However, I did enjoy the completely unintentional and very sinister implications behind genetic engineering of a half-animal species who are basically glorified slaves.

  8. Finally got a long weekend off and Dead End Junction just happened to conveniently release at the same time for me to read it. It's was pretty good. The setting is cool take on Wild West with some fantasy elements and story is very classic "journey of a hero". Naive girl with big dreams and some unsettled business with his missing dad traveling through the wild, meeting new friends, getting tangled up with fate and learning the ways of the world. Simple and traditional maybe, but well executed. The episode format works pretty well as well, each have their own theme and all being pretty consistent in quality. 3rd is probably the best of the bunch and the finale being quite different from the rest. Colorful cast is one of the strong points of the DEJ. The protagonist Josette is not only very talkative, but also somewhat klutzy and simple; a rather endearing a hilarious combination. Other characters like the smart and sharp Inaho are great counterparts to her, the constant bickering and banter between the characters is joy to read. If there's some kind of Wild West stereotype you happen to like, I'm almost certain you'll find an interesting Japanese take on it. Big part the charm is also thanks to the fantastic localization. I could almost claim that the English version is better, since the characters speak in Wild West accent and use sayings common to that period. But I haven't (yet) read it in Japanese so I won't, but nonetheless, the translation is great. So yeah, Dead End Junction is pretty cool and well worth the few bucks it's going for. The presentation is real nice and the story is solid good that leaves you of with a pleasant feeling.

  10. Confession: In real life I'm exceedingly excellent at saying hello cheerfully, asking for anything in an overly polite way and being silly by myself in the background. The same cannot be said of actually engaging in conversation, and asking me a question has a 70% chance of making me have an emotional and/or nervous breakdown.

Hello people! I've been on the forum quite a few times, posted a handful of posts and am amazed by how helpful and encouraging you all are! Since I've started playing VNs for less than a year I've yet been able to comprehend so many VNs, especially the good ones. I hope to get more valuable VN's experiences on the forum and a lot of fun discussions! I think, to VN's readers, as well as other forms of art, the moment you truly appreciate one form of art is when you feels what the character in it feels, suffers when the one you follow through a vast number of hours suffers, rejoice when you know it's rewarding and satisfying after all, and be able to shred tears at the decisive moment. Yes I've experienced all of it, and that's why I began to truly appreciate not only the vn itself, but also the aftertaste it left me. It'd be really exciting if others share the same opinion like me after going through such experience. The VNs I've played so far are Steins;Gate,Muv-Luv series; KnS 1&2; Fate series; some Key products;.. (yeah big ones) and a few eroges in Japanese. I'm currently seeking ones with realistic art style with mystery and intriguing plot. I also translating a vn into my native language. I wish the forum would continue to nourish and VNs would be more popular in the community. Please be nice and loving. Thank you!

  16. Civ 6 will be sixty dollars, Civ 5 Complete is $13.51 right now which makes it a perfectly serviceable game for way cheaper. Ain't nothing wrong with buying and playing that. Don't shitpost if you've got nothing else to add. Anyway, definitely enable the DLC. The game feels very incomplete without it. I recommend starting as Babylon and going for a science victory in your first attempt, taking full advantage of their unique ability.

  17. They already bought Civ 5; don't you think we should answer that rather than pointing at other games? @Seth, Civ 5 is one of those games where the vanilla was a total joke but it got better with expansions/DLC. If you have everything, I wholeheartedly suggest installing it all and playing that way from the start. I hope you enjoy it. Have you played any of the other games in the series, or will this be your first?

I am cheerful and active etc. when it comes to conversation (after feeling incredibly lonely for a year in fifth grade and being bullied after changing schools, I now feel I have nothing to lose by talking to people). I am spectacularly bad at taking a hint if somebody does not want to talk to me, though.

    What are you playing?

The phenomenon Vory's experiencing is the VN Rollercoaster effect, where he finally reached the upward 'ERMERGAWD, THIS SHIT IS THE BEST THING EVARRR' trend which typically follows the downward 'Old Grumpy Grump cannot Enjoy Nice Things Anymore' trend After having gone through a disappointing E17 not being as godly as he was anticipating which resulted in his questioning the purpose of life and a myriad of other doubts, his expectations plummeted rock bottom But, with lower expectations also comes a higher chance to enjoy. Hence the Kanon. and the loving of Awful Crooked Art. ..I need to read something soon.
