  1. Hi, fellow VN hackers, Some of you might remember that I wrote the first part of visual novel reverse engineering guide a while ago. And now, lo and behold, today's the day that I've published the second part of reverse engineering tutorial - this time, I'm discussing the approaches to reverse engineer the script, find out what are the part it consists of, and extracting the Japanese text (to pass it to the translators, if you run a VN translation project). Feel free to ask any questions. Cheers

  2. There's something about VNs with snowy settings (Kanon, DCII, hell, even Yukizakura to some extent) that greatly appeals to me. Hard to say why, but regardless Gin'haru just happens to be a VN with a lot of winter themes, which is great. Also I really like all of the characters. If I wasn't completely biased towards Bethly, I'd have a hard time deciding whose route to do first. The events from my previous post all took place on the first day, and pretty much spanned the entire day. Basically the only thing that happened after was Yuzuki thinking about how nice her brother is, and deciding she wants to start calling him Onii-chan. The next day we find out Momiji is a huge bookworm that likes to read fantasy novels Then later on Yuzuki, Aoi, and Yukito all go visit Mizuha at the ice rink, but she seems to be upset about something (couldn't possibly be that promise the protag forgot, could it? ) After Aoi fangirling hard about Yukito being osananajimis with a famous figure skater, the (much shorter than last time) day ends, but not before Yuzuki does her best The next day we meet Aoi after class, turns out she's pretty genre-savvy Then after a little bit she abruptly drags you into a nearby empty classroom The next day (or maybe not the next day, I kinda lost track of time) we see Momiji suspiciously sneaking into an empty classroom on her own, after a bit of spying and eavesdropping turns out she was practicing a one-man play. Fast forward to more of the flashback with Mizuha, turns out their promise... Of course, Yukito immediately rushes to see her Finally, it's Saturday and Aoi comes to visit Yuzuki first thing in the morning Now, onward to reading!

  3. Tokyo Babel is more action-oriented and prettier overall. However, Ayakashibito has a somewhat deeper story and a varied cast of characters. Edit: Also, Tokyo Babel has a focus on Christian mythology, whereas Ayakashibito is Japanese mythology.

    October Update

Howdy! The ones who follow us know that I haven't been updating things personally neither in the website nor in Fuwa even though the individual threads for each project in Fuwanovel have been updated weekly or so. This has been like this because college has started for me and some of my teammates, and that means that things have been busier than before, so we have less time to devote to the projects (although that doesn't mean that we're slacking off). Besides, let's be honest here, I felt a little bit lazy to do the update. We have a new website now! Yes, this will be the last update I'll be posting on the old website of Luna Translations and from now on we'll operate on the vntls platform, if you have a tl team and want a website with all the perks that Wordpress Premium offers but for free be sure to contact them, they're really nice guys and I appreciate their effort for making it come true. I also want to thank @Asonn, the one who made my website, who will be rewarded with a physical copy of Majo Koi, thanks for everything! New websites' link: https://lunatl.vntls.com/. DISCLAIMER: Some progress bars in the new website (such as Majo Koi's) are still outdated, so please be aware of that. Regarding new titles, we've added one to our roster, but since the leader of it doesn't want the title nor the project mentioned yet I won't do it until I'm given permission to do so. To the ones who follow Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to (or "tototo" in short), we have decided to put the project on HIATUS until the translators that are supposedly in the team working on it reappear. There has been no progess tl-wise regarding in project for several months now, so after a lot of thinking I decided to stall the project until I have more news about the people that are involved in it. Editing and proofreading of the prologue (which is completed) will continue and we will hopefully release at least the trial version of the game as a partial patch, though I don't have an ETA for that, you'll just have to wait. Majo Koi is close to the 50% mark, progress has been steady and there have been no major changes whatsoever regarding this project. Everything seems to be going nicely and we're pretty much good on this front. https://lunatranslationstestsite.wordpress.com/projects-2/projects/progress/ (Majo Koi progress bar) Witch's Garden keeps going, but very slowly, since one of our TLC's is doing school-related stuff and another one is having a vacation in Japan for some weeks, so for now only one TLC is active. Things are progressing and retranslation for the common route is around the 70% mark. All the other fronts won't have any progress until we completely finish the TLC of the common route. Tsui Yuri is at the 81% mark translation-wise. The editing keeps advancing at a steady pace and there have been no bumps or problems whatsoever regarding this project either, everything seems to be going fine. https://lunatl.vntls.com/tsui-yuri/ Anyways, that wasn't a lot, but I wanted to make this at least to show that we're very alive and still kicking, we just have our plates full now and we barely make time to progress on things at the moment. Have a nice day, everyone.

  6. Or Re;Zero too, i feel like you're all too pessimistic, it's true, i don't like that much Re;Zero, but that doesn't mean it's bad, on the contrary. Look at this year, what did we got? One punch man, a fresh breath and a cool anime. Boku dake ga inai machi, a really cool anime, the ending didn't disappoint me because, unlike you, i'm not attracted by a 10 years old girl, and the message of Errased was quite beautiful. We got Boku no hero academia, the very first shounen i appreciate since...Asura's wrath. We got Re;Zero, while i don't like the extremely boring and cliché isekai genre, was quite interesting to watch. And at the same time, we have side stuff really cool, like Orange and Ookami shoujo to kuroi ouji, 2 excellent shoujo anime, we got experimental stuff like Ajin, a 3D anime, right, but a really cool 3D anime, we still have those interesting and a bit edgy stuff like Arslan senki, Joker Game...etc And even this season, we're getting shuumatsu no izetta, a yuri WW 2 anime, and historically accurate (poor France, still get conquered, i just love how they showed how France was separated, the German zone and the Vichy regime zone) and even more Ajin stuff. Why you feel like that is simple : you're getting old, that's all, you grew up with stuff, and of course, the more you'll grow up, the more you'll think modern anime are shit, when if you think about it, in the past, there were some really shitty stuff, like ultra shitty (Milky Holmes? Chaos;Head?). Even in the past, you always quote one or 2 anime from one season, it's interesting how 2011 is known for steins;gate and Madoka, nothing more, if i look at the anichart of 2011, there were some dumb shit, the same can be said for the 2007, or 2005, or 2001...etc

    Help designing a logo

That's a really nice logo you did there. I don't think anything's missing, it's propably more a matter of composition. Try relocating the elements around a bit, check slightly different fonts, try italics or bold text and other font options, like increasing kerning, height or width of characters.

    Help designing a logo

It's going to be used for a law magazine, "xxx" is a term used in law (in my country at least) to use the first 2 hours of the day to present judicial application... is like you are barely making it with the time to present it, so you are literally running against time. , it cannot have anything related to lady of justice/iustitia etc (like the balance scales) or the gavel (the wooden "hammer") here is my lousy attempt of a logo xD PS:Sorry my law terminology/vocabulary in english is very scarce and limited

  15. To be quite honest, I haven't and don't plan to do an in-depth comparison of the Japanese text from the original, the steam release and the vita port. If you've seen their two failed Kickstarts you should know, NextNinja is kinda sketchy. So i wouldn't be surprised if they stole parts of the Vita version / were heavily 'inspired' by it. Fact however is, they didn't add the new scenes or audio from the vita version to fill the gaps the cutting of the sex scenes left. Like you said the story is untouched and ChuSinGura being a story-rich game, it can probably be enjoyed as is. Nonetheless as far as an all-ages version goes, the vita version would be far superior with smoother transitions, whereas the Steam version is done rather lazily. I haven't played or even touched the "butchered" version of IMHHW, so I am not familiar with. But as Toranth already mentioned the story of ChuSinGura has been left intact. Personally I would never play a "cut" game unless I have played the complete game first. But I doubt you speak Japanese, so that might not be an option, unless someone releases a fantranslation/restauration patch. As the full game has only been released for a few days i would suggest waiting a few weeks or months to see if someone intends to do a patch. If you just want to enjoy the story, the cut perverted scenes with boobs showing etc might not be necessary. The important thing about sex scenes is giving yourself to your partner, emotional borders being broken down, the characters getting closer and so on. So in my opinion just cutting those scenes leaves a gap in the progression of the relationship. You should at least know sex happened. Another option would be to play the original and the steam version side by side, so you don't miss out on the sex scenes. If you put both of them on auto with one muted and stop the steam version once a sex scene comes up that shouldn't be a problem. (understanding sex scenes is possible even with very limited knowledge of Japanese) If you want to know wether you should buy the game on steam. Go ahead, it's on sale atm and I have dozens of games on steam I will never play...

  17. The makers of the mobage say it is based on the Vita version. The makers of the Steam release said it was based off the mobage version. The assets of the Steam release DO NOT MATCH the original PC - not even the Japanese text of the Steam release, and the English doesn't match either version. It is obvious where the English was changed as part of the release (to remove references to sex or nudity). However, the Japanese text (taken from the mobage) also removes references to things like menstruation, wetting oneself, using the toilet / indigestion, or minors with alcohol. Unless you think that NextNinja did a Japanese re-write for this release, the text is clearly NOT taken from the original PC version. And no, Nier, the game was not "butchered". Please stop saying that. The adult content DID NOT ADD ANYTHING to the game, and removing it did not hurt the game. Hyperbole like yours is why it is difficult for people to get a good idea of the actual quality of products. I suppose you think the original Japanese release of games like Wagamama High-Spec were "butchered" because the naked sprites pack wasn't included in the game? And yet, that's about the same level of fanservice and meaning that the adult content added to ChuSinGura.

  19. The mobage port is a pay to win version of the PC game where you play like 1 minute of the game and then need to buy scenario tickets to see the next 5 lines. It`s not build off the vita version. They got the assets from Inre and made a mobage out of it, nothing to do with the Vita version.

  21. They have stated they don't have the rights to the Vita version several times. Where do you people get such exclusive info? The PSV version added new scenes and recorded new lines to make the up for the gaps caused by the removal of sex scenes. The Steam version redrew some CGs, but that's it. The sexy just got cut.

  24. You do realize that Go Go Nippon was originally written in Japanese, then translated into English? And that it was made by a Japanese developer. It's not an OELVN. I'm all in favor on VN on Steam, personally. Increased visibility and profitability has encouraged more Japanese developers to enter the English-language market.

  27. Hi, fellow VN explorers, I've just published an article on basic reverse engineering of unknown file formats of visual novels. It requires little technical knowledge (actually, everything except for the optional latest part can be done without programming) and it tackles the basic process of discovering information about simple container format and exploring its structure to extract files from a game archive. Hope it would be useful Feel free to ask any questions.

  28. i took some screenshots of the original game and this one. Some of the screenshots from the original game are obviously nsfw. They changed quite a few things apart from just censoring. Please refer to the spoiler.
