Episicava [BxG][Kickstarter and demo out!]
FeralBlade and 2 others reacted to dfbreezy for a topic
Summary: One day, the face of the Earth was changed permanently when it came into contact with a mysterious force known as the “Alpha Nebula”. With it, humans developed various unexplainable abilities, and divided themselves based on those traits. The main factions include: The Tonitrui, the Excedente, the Praecantator, the Permuto, and the Northmanni. All have their own set of unique abilities that came with infamous Alpha Nebula collision, with the exception of the Northmanni who remain largely unchanged. Among these races however, existed a special group of people who managed to retain all the other race’s abilities. They were a very powerful, but small isolated group of people, called “emulators”. Arin Arlento was one of these people, living in a remote village with his grandfather and other emulators. All was going peacefully, until it was attacked by the Northmanni empire, who slaughtered his entire race and kidnapped his childhood friend, Aria. Being the only other survivor, Arin escaped into the Northmanni empire, hiding and plotting his revenge. That is until finding out that Aria is still alive, and is being experimented on by the Northmanni. Resentful of the world that took everything away from him, Arin begins his quest to retrieve his friend, and exact retribution on those who destroyed all that he held dear. It’s one misguided man against the world. Genres:[action, adventure, superpower, psychological, romance, war.] The GUI, done by Trey Fletcher; Structure: the story would be mostly linear as the choices mostly appear during battle and have their instant bad ends attached to it. The common route before each branching point is not very long as it serves to introduce the heroine who you would be branching into. It has an enforced playing order of Alacria->Aniam. Once the reader branches into the four other heroines the main story ends there and it focuses on the specific problems of the heroine. Due to various issues, Episicava would be released in 3 separate volumes as opposed to one whole. Setting: one of the main features of this story is that it is adventure styled. The protagonist and his posse of troubled combat capable girls move about on the various continents to seek new shelter. Each continent represents an ethnicity or fault of human nature. Northmanni- Modern day society. Styled after Japan and America. Fulgur- represents humanity’s scientific progression and the harm it causes. Tribus- represents African tribalism and the cultural implications it puts on its people. Progress: story- 1) prologue- 100% (will be used for demo) 2)part 1- { common route 100%, Alacria's route 70%} 3)part 2- {common route 100%, Aniam's route 70%} art- 1) sprites - 85% 2) bgs - 100% 3) cgs - 95% 4) GUI- 100% 5) Character designs- 100% music- 100% programming - 75% Team; Kotario (me) - Lead dev and main writer Snailmusk - Assistant dev and secondary writer Tristan Hallihan (Cipher) - Secondary writer Tim Reichert - Composer Nathan Cleary - Composer/Sound designer Leo Flores - Concept artist and character design Zhao - Main Character Artist and character design Hanh Chu - Secondary Character Artist Kertasu - Secondary Character artist Alais Legrand - Backgrounds Artist Joe "Bonesy" - Programmer/Marketer/PR Valhalla - Graphic Designer miscellaneous Please show your support for the Episicava visual novel by becoming a patron! thank you! https://www.patreon.com/user?u=3731847 check out our website at : http://epicworksnovels.com Some of our recently done CGS: Some of the backgrounds done by Alais Legrand; Thanks!3 points -
If My Heart Had Wings - Missing CG from page 11
UnlimitedMoeWorks and 2 others reacted to Dergonu for a topic
We have located the issue. Sadly, the restoration patch kinda sorta messes up the CG gallery, and some CGs might not appear, and some might display incorrectly when you try to view them. I'd suggest just going to that point in the game, and literally just taking a screenshot of them, or finding a high quality version online, if you want to look at them later. As far as I am aware, there is no fix for this with the current restoration patch. (The new translation patch will fix this issue, and you can track the progress on that here:)3 points -

After @mitchhamilton and @DarkZedge showing me the error of my ways...I've stopped playing the other several VN's I've started and not finished, and began focusing on one at a time. I'm now reading Princess Evangile and I'm completely addicted to the story and characters, and can't stop reading it!2 points -
Just going to make a terrible translation of the full title of this VN, just to give you an idea of what kind of game this is: "Animal eared harem vacation - Indulge in making babies with carefree, fluffy, animal eared girls in the countryside." I mean, it is almost the same as what they named the English version. Almost.2 points

A nukige. Censored. On steam. No 18+ release. ... ... Alright. I'm just gonna go over there to smash my face into my keyboard now, good day. (The worst part is, the steam crowd will jump at this like crazy, which might make the company think this was a good idea... sweet lord have mercy...)2 points

Kickstarter Live now! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1183318884/false-elegy-the-dark-fantasy-visual-novel In order to find his lost friend, a divine entity has to bind with a beautiful demon corrupted by sin. With their lives connected as one, the only way to survive is by withstanding heaven and hell together. "This messed up world consists of those who fall and those who thrive off of the fallen. Whatever you choose, you'll be one of the two." Since the dawn of man, Ascendants have been seen soaring in the skies. To the humans, they are ethereal, divine and immortal beings; guardians of earth and protectors of humankind. But even among the Ascendants, there are those who have Fallen. Areon is an Ascendant who hunts the creatures born from sin; the Fallen. Together with his partner Eden, he purges the world little by little. Everything goes effortlessly until Areon is asked to participate in the Divinity project; a project to rehabilitate Fallen. Only the best Ascendants are chosen due to the dangers. During the project, a Divinity Link will be formed between the two until one Ascends, or one Falls. At the selection, the beautiful Ark caught his attention. A Fallen that had been caught three weeks ago, but never approached due to her insanely corrupted personality. Areon, undaunted by her ferocity, forms a link with Ark. However, he did not realize that his powers will be irrelevant. What will be challenged are his wits, resolve, and mental fortitude. What awaits him is a bigger task than he could have ever imagined. Daniel Moody is wrong in his essay on transgender pronouns
Li-Fei reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
Has anyone read Mr. Moody's borderline terrible essay? I really don't advise it, you never know how much of somebody's stupidity rubs off on random passers-by. Let me quickly explain why this 'philosopher's' essay on transgendered pronoun is the stupidest thing I've read this week. First some history. A very long time ago, English used to be a gendered language (probably due to English's tendency to steal from other languages) with nouns expressing a gender like in France. Le horror. A simplified explanation can be found here: Or for a more in depth explanation you can read the book - English Historical Linguistics 2006: Syntax and morphology However this wouldn't last. In the 1300s gender was eliminated from English nouns, and there was a concerted push to do the same for pronouns. This is why you had people like Shakespeare using the word 'they' in the singular - this was the word that was designated to for a non-gendered third person pronoun. Examples can be found here: http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/002748.html Unfortunately later on, many centuries later actually, grammarists struck this down telling people it was wrong. 'They' is plural, they said, and therefore using it to indicate a singular pronoun is obviously terrible English. So after this people tried using 'he' as a universal pronoun that included both the sexes, but this is obviously quite controversial these days. Now knowing this, how can anybody read Daniel Moody's essay with a straight face when he opens with: You have permission to laugh, I certainly did. What he does is take a system everybody agrees is obsolete, and have been happily finding ways around for 800 years or more and atrributes a reason for its existence that is not only non-sensical but is incorrect. A third person pronoun denotes a person, it does not NEED to denote more than that, just like ‘it’ just denotes and object and ‘they’ denotes a group of people. Details are lacking because they aren’t needed, and can be added later if they are. That gender/sex was used was a hangover from an obsolete system of English which attributed gender, or sex, to many nouns. So he’s wrong. But not only is he wrong, he ludicrously writes an essay extrapolating from his wrong assumption. He then concludes with this statement – People have been trying to get rid of the system for almost a millennia because 'it works', apparently. Referring to people via sex is a pain in the arse. Why? Well the first obvious reason is that the sex of an individual is not always known. A less obvious one is when you’re looking right at somebody, and still can’t figure out a person’s sex. But watch out you don’t slip. Ever call a woman a guy mistakenly? It’s not fun. So as an ‘anchor’ for communication, it’s a pretty lousy one. It's also unclear what he means by 'transgender pronouns'. He actually doesn’t say anything about this at all. However, the term has been thrown at gender neutral pronouns which is quite hilarious. Gender neutral pronouns are a way to refer to a person without referring to anything else about them. Recalling from before that a third person pronoun by definition refers to a person in the third person, not a GENDERED or SEXED person in the third person. But this is quite beside the point. Daniel Moody begins with a misunderstanding, and extrapolates that until everything he says is an embarrassment, and is an example of extremely shoddy and wishy-washing thinking. This is why you do your research BEFOREHAND. Daniel Moody describes himself as a philosopher and has released a book about … who cares. If this is the type of thinking coming out of the mouths of modern day philosophers, then maybe the field is in as dire shape as people say.1 point -

Uhh... There's plenty .xp3 unpackers and compilers if you just look a bit. It's one of the most used VN engines around. I do agree with translating from anything not Japanese to English. You should do what he said if you can help it, but if this more so a learning process, you might also want to try looking into the Japanese dialogue, as Nekopara shows both the English and Japanese dialogue at the same time.1 point -

Good choice Frankie, that's how you should go about reading tbh. I was like that before too; reading like 5 VNs at a time. I find that focusing on one makes the overall experience much more satisfying, as you are pulled into the VN in a lot more. (If that makes sense ... Things I say rarely does, but ... meh) PE does have a pretty fantastic cast, which makes it a really enjoyable read. S-Someone call the police!1 point -

Mr Poltroon reacted to Dergonu for a topic
Yeah, upon reading my comment back, I realize that sounded a bit off. My main point was that, saying the game is not all ages might make someone think it actually does have the cut content, and that we were wrong all along. I didn't mean to question whether or not it actually does contain partial nudity or not, (as shown in the censored picture I linked; it does.) Sorry @Decay, seems my terrible wording caused a bit of a misunderstanding. I have edited my original post to reflect my actual intent.1 point -

Dergonu reacted to Mr Poltroon for a topic
I'm having difficulty trying to determine whether you want to say that non-Eroge/non-Nukige VNs were already prolific ages years ago or if you mean that Visual Novels these days are especially Nukige and Eroge. Poor Decay only stated the facts. It is advertised as having nudity, and it most definitively is not "All-Ages". So maybe don't get mad at Decay, but at the company who classifies such CGs as nudity. Which, depending on the CG, I just may too, even if genitals are censored. I mean, magical white mist covering just the nipples and the vulva? That's nudity to any reasonable person who doesn't go around reading Eroge and Nukige (or, to an extent, too much anime-esque media) in their free time. (Also, the poor fan will get "an actual game with content" regardless of the facts. Just maybe not the kind of content one would expect from a Nukige -- and censored mess of crap is but a subjective opinion any reader may not share with you.)1 point -

This times ∞, seriously, was not worth having to replay/skip through ALL the routes again just for these scarce little tidbits of new info... ~~ E route was fun. It had a nice 'grand route' feel to it with the characters all making their final push to the end. And you gotta admit this is a pretty badass roster But man, fk this VN. It's legit the epitome, the biggest bad, the king of kings of all VNs with a mindscrewy sci-fi element to them. Virtual vs. Reality, Time Travel, Higher Dimensions, Multiple Universes, Quantum Mechanics... you name it, I/O's got it. I understand what's going on, but at the same time I don't Multilayer World Hypothesis. No doubt that is my favorite scene in the entire VN so far, with the infinite recursion & characters doubting their existence and whatnot. Was thrilling. And trippy. A part of the oomph though is tragically lost in a glorious Mass Effect 3 God Child fashion: ~~ Making my way through the prime routes now, starting with D'. It's a bit longer than I thought however, so it'll probably be a while more until I can get back to the E true end. Liking getting to finally see some more backstory to Annuki, along with getting glimpses as to the upcoming big BIG revelation regarding He and Onee-sama:1 point

Then what do you suggest we use? Carrying external HDDs around is not a good solution for small stuff like documents, I personally find USB flash drives very convenient because I can carry them with ease and usually I have enough of space on them to carry all that I need to ... Only really big stuff have to be carried on external HDDs ... I mostly use USBs and discs to move media around, and they are both a source of vulnerability ... What other better technology is there (SD cards?) for this purpose? I guess you wanted to suggest sharing through the local network or Internet but that's not a solution if the target computer is not on the Internet (expensive or restricted bandwidth) or isn't physically connected with the source computer ...1 point -

About Censhorship It's a hilarious discussion from a point of non-american ESL human being that lives in a country, which for 70 years stayed behind the Iron Wall. Guys, you really don't understand that censorship and especially self-censorship is evil. When people agree to it, for commercial or moral reason, they always choose the easy way. Because the hard way means debate, struggle and fight. Many different communties won their rights through constant battle with the censhorship, ignoring someone saying ''you are not our target audience or you're vocal minority''. About censored VN Visual Novels from the very first one were created for adults and still are aiming to adult buyers in Japan. So when localization companies bring these games to the West, cut the sex scenes or tone down the violence, they CHANGE target audience. And also, there is no such thing as all-age visual novels. Even Tokyo Babel or you actually believe a child can understand all that religious stuff? I am okay with DI official translation because it's the only way I can read this game, but don't justify its censhorship just because it's kamige.1 point
