Just don't. No one should ever try reading Dies or any other works from Masada, until he's proficient with japanese. You're doing yourself a great disservice otherwise. I myself decided I'd rather wait and hope for an english release, than try reading it in japanese. This dream came true and I'm even getting the best translation possible I could ever get. Frankly, didn't really care with Muv Luv (gave it to my brother, cause I'm awful as a collector type anyway), but if it actually lets me play the game without getting those Grisaia wait times, I'm quite happy. I'm hoping that that tapestry doesn't change designs too drastically, and that it's available as an add-on. It's the main thing I'm eyeing right now. I think that's the main thing they could do right now, though: just clarify what some of these things in the tiers/add-ons are and how they'd look. And what date they're planning on starting the actual kickstarter. The perfundia is creating some hype in me, lol.

Certainly. I doubt there is anything they can do to make it any faster, so we just have to deal with that tbh. Just the fact that the patch is coming is fantastic. Sure, in a perfect world we'd get it instantly, but having to wait an extra 3 months to be able to enjoy Dies Irae in it's absolute 100% complete form is totally worth it to me. It will be hard avoiding spoilers for 3 months though, while others read the all-ages version and we're still waiting. It's like trying not to learn the final score of a football game you taped to watch later. Everyone will talk about it, especially such a big game like this. Might have to dig a hole in the yard and hide in there for those 3 months.

The problem with Skype and Discord chat is that whenever it gets too active, your opinion will be washed over by several other posts and they'll likely won't see it in time, especially if what you're trying to say isn't on the same subject as what they're talking about. However don't let that discourage you. It's not like they're ignoring you intentionally, it's just that it gets very busy and people don't have the time to read every post.

So it finally gets translated. I'm claiming all the salt and tears people will spill when they notice that dies irae is not "The worlds greatest masterpiece and the peak of human creation" and come to accept that in the end it is just a shiny chuuni with nazis and complicated sounding prose. Might still be interesting for a german to see how japan glorifies NS Germany.

Okay, they're releasing the game on Steam, but why only the Chinese version...? Like, seriously, can somebody explain the thought process behing this decision? I can see there were enough Chinese people on Steam to upvote this on Greenlight, which I guess justifies it to some extent, but why wouldn't Lump of Sugar also release the game with the original Japanese text for their Japanese audience? From what I can tell they don't even have a Japanese digital release, only a licensed Chinese one, which is even weirder. Am I missing something here?

That would be Circus. They do nothing but reuse old material and make shit comedy, releasing a shitton of fandisks, side stories and sequels, which are then milked in turn.

Squeeze money from a loyal fan base making mediocre sequels is a trend in the world these days, Tayutama 2 to me seems more like a attempt to save a slumping brand that recently only make shitty titles with the nostalgia factor, but from what i see they only make fans from the original game disappointed. A weird move i guess.

I can read Japanese, but I certainly can't read Dies at a comfortable pace yet. I read the prologue, and although I understood it somewhat, I didn't feel like I appriciated it, if that makes sense. Like Conjueror said, you really shouldn't read it until you are at the N1 level.

I seen this kind of stuff in Kickstarter before though, but usually there would be some kind of way to only get the missing physical reward through Add-Ons in Backerkit. The 300 USD reward tier is basically for EVERYTHING between the 65 USD and 300 USD reward tiers, surely there is a better way to get game + ost + booklet for the people who are only interested in that.

I don't know why you'd refuse to pitch in just because the goals are high. That doesn't sound very rational. You're still personally paying the same amount regardless! And you don't actually pay anything at all if they don't reach their goal, so you're not at risk of losing that money.

I'm pretty fucking reserved when it comes to VN crowdfunding, but Jesus does this one looks like it knows what it is doing. Throw in Reading Steiner and I might have to squeeze a few drops out of my dry bank account. The delay on the 18+ patch doesn't bother me as long as I know it is a definite priority.

Hi Everyone! We are very sorry if the "Season pass" term usage is confusing! We just wanted to use a very familiar choice of words to show our intentions, to release free expansive DLC content. I would include these DLC's in our main story but due to development hic up's we are forced to add expansions on a later date. Now that i think about it our behavior can be easily misunderstood as an attempt to act cool like: "wow we are nobody but let's use Season pass so we can look like one of those big games out there!" It's just not like it, i can assure that. We decided to use it because it looked like a fast way to incorporate a list of DLCs and stuff. Thank you very much for your time!

Alright, so I just finished chapter 1 of the Japanese original last night, and after comparing it to the English, I have to say... it's bad. You are absolutely correct, there is loads and loads of silly sex jokes and inuendoes riddled through the entire game. Big parts of the game is rewritten, loads of small and silly scenes are completely cut out. Several CGs are missing, and those that are redrawn also come with changed dialogue and missing sprites, and sometimes entierly altered scenes. On top of that, the engine is buggy, with the text, sprites and CGs appearing lower quality and overall just worse, and the transitions feel clunky as well. Overall the English is pretty much ruined compared to the quality of the original, yes. An example of how much they actually censor and remove: In the beginning of the first chapter, when Suguha wakes up in Emoshichi's house, the little sisters starts talking to Suguha about the fact that his crotch is swelling up, and the whole scene literally revolves around the fact that he has a boner, and that he jokes about it only being morning wood. For instance, when the sisters pinch him, they are pinching his crotch. This might seem totally and utterly pointless, but what is so weird is that this scene literally sets up for several jokes later on, and it lasts for surprisingly long, too. I counted at least three times I think, where the jokes about Suguha's llittle "kodachi", (which is what Sayo calls his penis,) ends up being brought up specifically in conversations that have been 100% removed. This is just one tiny, tiny little detail. The amount of nudity, sex jokes, inuendoes and altered content is insane, and that is just from chapter 1. If you want to read it, I'm sure you'll still get the overall general idea of the plot, but don't expect to get anywhere near the same experience you would get from reading the original. It's honestly insane just how different the two felt, after comparing what I read in the JP to the English version. Waiting for a restoration patch might be the western reader's only chance to experience this the way it was meant to. I don't know if anyone would want to take on another big project like that though, as we are seriously talking if my heart had wings levels of censorship here.
