  1. Tomorrow will be July 20th, the exact date that Mamiya Takuji from Suba Hibi predicted the world would end in 2012. Tomorrow marks the 5th year anniversary. This actually came to mind today, because my girlfriend today asked me that trick question of "do you know what tomorrow is". And I said the 1 month anniversary of when we started dating. And then she was surprised that I as a guy actually remembered. Little does she know that I only remembered because I associated our anniversary with this date, lol. So now I am curious if anyone else ever remembered an important date or time because it shared the same time as an important event in a VN, anime, movie or some other kind of story?

    pure pure is it dead?

Hello, I apologize for bringing this old topic up again. But I've got some info regarding the Pure Pure. I basically made a group some time ago and (re)started the Pure Pure project. However, I managed to get in touch with FOTS Dummyacct7 and he had to stop the project, because he is busy with his university studies, irl issues, etc... He told us to wait a bit so he might get back to it, but he never did again... We "forced" him to update the TLWiki in March but that's the only thing he did... But now our group is working (cooperating) officially with Hikari Field on the Tayutama 2 ( we lent them our English corrector so the game is not released with Engrish) and in the meantime the rest of the team is working on the Pure Pure. HOWEVER obtaining license for it is probably impossible because Klein (the game company who created Pure Pure) is dead. Their website is just half - working and no one responds to my emails... SO we decided to finish it atleast like a fan - made translation because this is one of the novels which deserve translation. The game itself can be still purchased on one Japanese e-shop, I even made a guide how to buy it for people who do not speak Japanese. I post info regularly here so I hope someone who still waits for this project will be pleased. Have a nice day, Aki =)

  3. Spent the last weekend playing Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and what fun that was. It's a story roughly split in two halves, beginning being introduction to the setting and the characters and the latter half where "shit gets real", so to say. Both are very good in what they are set out to do, and it's one the big reasons why I found the game so engaging. The first half is pretty much slice-of-life and comedy with few missions in between. But man how good the slice-of-life is. Even though there's lots (and lots) of it the individual scenes themselves are really well paced and pretty much never drag too long. It feels like the writers had quite specific plans on how long a scene should take and what it should contain, and it shows. The scenes are snappy, fun and a joy to read. Time just flies reading different stuff about avoiding work, boozing, food (the amount of effort put in to the imaginary food culture is astounding), more boozing, silly comedy and the like. You get to know the cast really well and by the time the story starts to really get going I was totally rooting for everyone. This in turn made the dramatic events that more satisfying and eventual climax more meaningful. Somewhat to my surprise Utaware2 turned out to be one the most solidly written VNs I've read in a while. It's not like it's the "best VN ever", just really good and it manages to accomplish exactly what it wants to, something I can really appreciate. And while pretty much all of the cast is great, the "main characters", Haku and Kuon deserve some extra attention. The game literally starts with Haku, the hero, being saved by the "heroine" Kuon and being wholly helpless without her. This kind of little unusual relationships continues farther in the game with Kuon being very active and also pursuing her own goals, while Haku is more easy-going and mostly trying to find his own peace and place in the world. Not to mention Haku's mysterious charm of a good-for-nothing man. A very big part of the enjoyment also comes from the quality of the translation. There's only so much good script can do with mediocre translation, but luckily Utaware's translation is top notch. In fact, my favorite of all the things I've read in while. Sorry Dies Distinct character voices full of personality! Colorful vocabulary! Consistency! It's awesome! It's great! I guess it should be mentioned that Utaware2 is very much a prequel quite like Trails in the Sky FC, so the enjoyment may vary depending how tolerant you are to that kind of open endings. I personally didn't mind since Mask of Deception is very satisfying on it's own right while setting up for something even bigger. And if nothing else, going by what this game has to offer the sequel, Mask of Truth, has potential for being "BEST SHIT EVER(TM)"-tier of experience. (September couldn't come any faster...) The combat system is pretty cool too, the game looks fantastic, music is great, the setting is super interesting and fleshed out (the in-game glossary is tons of fun) and so on... There's so much good stuff in this game. If this is what happens when good developer makes "mainstream" VNs with good budget, then I want more.

  4. Five strangers find themselves trapped in an abandoned hotel that’s set to collapse in 24 hours. To escape alive, they'll have to solve their captor’s riddles and unravel the mystery behind their abduction. Trailer: Screenshots: Project Introduction Hey, everyone. I've been making the rounds promoting my game here and there, and now I turn my eyes to fuwanovel! This is an episodic mystery VN I’ve been working on for way, way too long. This is a passion project that I've been making in my spare time. I was very much inspired by 999, so you may get some ZE vibes from this. Hopefully in a good way! Oh, and the game is 100% free. I'd be very happy if you at least gave it a try! Progress As the thread title may suggest, Exit/Corners is OUT! You can play the game right now by following the link below. Episodes are short - around 10-20 minutes each - but new episodes are released every week. We're already at 8 episodes, so I'd say it's a good time to jump on in! The first arc is a 17-episode series, with new episodes released every Sunday until September 17th of this year. Aside from fixing up what I've already got, I'm currently working on the second arc. It is scheduled for release next year. Play Exit/Corners Play in your browser on the official site: http://exitcorners.com/play.html While I do have the game on itch.io, I'm fixing an issue with that version, so please play on the main site for now. More Useful Links Exit/Corners Twitter: https://twitter.com/ExitCorners Exit/Corners subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ExitCorners/ F.A.Q.: http://exitcorners.com/faq.html 1.0.2 notes - episode release schedule and known issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/ExitCorners/comments/6mqh2p/exitcorners_version_102_episode_release_schedule/ Troubleshooting If you’re having trouble with some aspect of the game, please let me know on social media (reddit or twitter) - it’s the fastest way to get in touch with me. If you’d like to report a bug (and there will be bugs), the subreddit is a good place for that, too. I’m happy to answer any questions you all might have.

  5. Tried this out, was pretty interesting. If you like ZE-style stuff, and don't mind it currently still being released episodically, then this is for you. I hope I'll even remember to check the next ep out on the 23rd, though knowing myself ill prolly forget about it then have something remind me in like a few months instead.

  7. I've been thinking of getting Steins;Gate on Steam, but I'm concerned about something. What is the translation quality of the English version? Is the translation accurate and true to the original Japanese dialogue? I don't want to go through another repeat of Chrono Clock and Libra of the Vampire Princess, where the translation is either altered or barely readable.

  8. NNL had made a single, combined version - though finding anyone with that version nowdays is likely going to be hard. Even moreso with a save file still tucked away.

    Steins;Gate Question

The English version of Steins;Gate is wonderful compared to some of the visual novels that have been translated and put out on to the market. Almost all of the comedic and dark aspects of the original are in the English version. It was pretty great in my opinion.

    Steins;Gate Question

I didn't notice anything as bad as the text was in Libra, actually I didn't see any noticable grammer or typing errors (or anything weird sounding). English isn't my native language though so I might have overlooked something. I can't say anything about the accuracy to the jap. text, I didn't even start learning it when I played it.

  12. Well I posted about a single guy and a sex doll before that post, in support of it. I thought it was admirable of him to live how he wants, he wasn't affecting anybody in a bad way. I don't even think its weird, its just different [I never once said it was weird actually ]. You don't think it traumatises the kids, I think it does. Its just a difference of opinion that are both possible, depending on circumstances. Let me make it clear though, I have nothing against people liking sex dolls, I've mentioned it in my previous post, it isn't about that. People can do what they want as long as they aren't hurting others, or get off on others getting hurt. I've had my own experience regarding trauma, personally and through working with single parent households that have shaped the way I think about these things. I'm sure you have your own experiences, that shaped your own opinions of matters such as this too [regarding families and trauma]. I respect your stance on it mate. Cheers! @Jun Inoue I just read your post below, i figure i'll comment here instead of posting again , yeah I do believe that it isn't a hobby for them. They love the dolls and consider them partners [regarding the article]. One of the men [a married father of two] said that he wouldn't cheat on the doll because he considers her human and doesn't want to destroy what he has with her.

  14. Still reading Air. Finished Summer route. (Spoiler alert) Another great moment. Even with the perfectible route of Minagi, my current rating of Air would be 8 or 8,5 Edit 18/07 : Finished Air As I anticipated, my definitive rating is 8,5 (the conclusion left me puzzled, mystified...but I'm a bit masochist...I like this feeling ) : the casting is absolutely fantastic (lovely heroines, memorable protagonist, marvellous side characters) and they took all the positive points of Kanon plus many improvements (except some parts of Minagi's route, the story and the writing are excellent). Now I'm ready for Little Busters PE ! Gao ! Gao !

  15. No offense, but this is such an arrogant and entitled statement, I have to call you out on it. His intend was never to make a "good" translation of Cross Channel, his only purpose was to write his essay on Cross Channel. Also translating the game was a necessary evil because he needed a quotable source and Ixrec's translation was too liberal. He needed a translation that was very close to the Japanese script, because his thesis was based on nuances not found in Amaterasu's version. Saying he should rather practice writing and translate games instead of writing essays is extremely disrespectful to him and the work he did. Maybe I'm the only one, but I really appreciated his book. It's a very interested read and helped me to like Cross Channel (which I actually don't really like) a little more by offering some new points, ideas and theories I hadn't thought of yet. I might not agree with everything he wrote, but at least he gave us some interesting and original thoughts. That's 100% more than most people in the English VN community can offer (not you Rooke, you write usually very interesting comments) who are ironically the first when it comes to dismissing GHS' work and calling him a troll. Which leads me to: What even is this? This is exactly what it wanted to be; a literal translation of the original prose. You call him out on being too wordy when that was exactly the point of it. When he released his book (and with it his translation of Cross Channel, since the translation is an attachment to the book, not the other way around) he explicitly stated that the translation is not supposed to be a "normal" translation, not supposed to be read the first time you play the game and should only be seen as an accompanying material. A purpose it accomplishes adequately, by the way, and which would not have been possible if he translated it any other way. I know you know that, I know that most people in this thread know that, and still, you guys deliberately choose to ignore this fact just so you can thrash his works and efforts and make him look like an illiterate. I wonder why? What is the reason for being this envious, malicious and toxic? Has anyone of you actually read his book? What do you think of the points he made? Do you want to engage in a discussion about his thesis? ... Of course, you don't. That would take effort and actual thinking. It's much easier to make someone into a meme and criticize him for the things, he never was out do to. In some way GHS is really a troll, but not in the way most people try to depict him. He is the kind of troll who, every time he surfaces, gets people to show their true color, while still providing interesting and thought-provoking material. Just like last month, when he released his (pretty interesting) book and translations of the talestune games, and was again misquoted and badmouthed by people who didn't even read his essay or only skimmed through it to find something they can take out of context and make fun of it. The level of shallowness, pretentiousness and lynch mob mentality in the English VN community is really astonishing. GHS is indeed a troll, the best kind of troll. Not the kind of troll the VN community wants, but the kind it deserves.
