  1. Oh, christ, I forgot about Libra. I only saw like five screenshots of that, and I'm still sure it's vastly worse than HoshiMemo was. So... let's go with calling HoshiMemo the second-worst thing I saw this year. Regarding this doubt: Either the screenshots I posted show obvious problems to you, or they don't, I guess. But to be clear, all screenshots in the review are representative, none more so than "Mare's face is instantly shrouds in a hue of weariness." There are so many problems with that line, but let's try to break them down: "weariness" is a typo, given context: it was supposed to be "wariness" "is shrouds" was obviously supposed to be "is shrouded", so, another typo "is shrouded" is passive voice, which usually you want to avoid. I'm not going to say it's something you should always avoid: that would be a stupid and incorrect thing to say. But I will assert that passive voice is incredibly common in this script and it consistently weakens lines, this one included. "instantly" is a totally unnecessary adverb, which is one of the most reliable ways to weaken prose. There are many rough guidelines in writing, and this is one of the most important: if you're reaching for an adverb, use a better verb instead. Unfortunately, such weakening adverbs are all over this script; they're probably the biggest problem I have with it. Play the game and count the number of occurrences of the words "literally" and "considerably"; I bet there are no fewer than 20 combined. Then read a short novel by your favorite English genre fiction author and count occurrences of those same words. I'll bet you don't find more than one (Jim Butcher seems to always have exactly one "literally" in every Harry Dresden book, presumably just to tweak people's noses...). This is not a coincidence: those words are baggage, weighing down good writing. It also bears mentioning that adjectives can be just as bad as adverbs, and are also overused in this script. "hue" is a blatantly overly literal translation of 色, and it appears as such many, many times throughout HoshiMemo. What the heck color is a "hue of wariness" supposed to be? I'm sorry, I'm just not synesthetic enough to relate to using color words for emotions like that. I want to stress: this line is representative. I have hundreds of screenshots I took from the game, the vast majority of which bother me in the writing department almost as much as this line does, often for the same reasons cited up above, often for different ones (notably including redundancy, awkwardness, and unreadability). It took me a solid half hour to pare my HoshiMemo screenshot folder to a shortlist of 46 bad screenshots, and then another half hour to trim that down to the five I finally ended up using in the review (the hard cap I set for myself so the review wasn't just a pile of screenshots). It frustrated me that I had to sacrifice a screenshot that could have gone to bad prose on showing an untranslated line, but I needed one untranslated line screenshot to drive that point home, unfortunately. So, instead, here are a few choice lines from my screenshot folder (typos theirs, not mine): "It is literally just like a flood." "Maybe it is the atmosphere surrounding Asuho that's sealing my mouth." "Just like yesterday, the night sky is flocked with twinkling stars." A pair of lines which have to be taken together to see the nonsense: "Sure gets your heart racing, huh?" "True, anxiety's making mine shoot up like crazy." "It is quite literally just like a flood." "I directed my field of vision, which, unlike as it is with the naked eye, is quite narrow, over towards there." "I don't let even the faintest, most slightest of sounds slip by my ear." "A opportune chance to ensure the survival of Astro Circle that I mustn't let slip out of my grasp." "We are essentially tossing in all of our cards towards this massive, risky gamble." "Will You-san start up one of those trifling chats with me that almost personify peace in itself while wearing a wry smile on his face all the while in response to his sister?" "Wait, is this all because I said you wouldn't be? Would you have turned Chinami down "defiance-causally" if I'd instead said you'd be all for it?" "Belatedly so, I learned that while one grain of light may be small, if they amount to near the number of stars in the sky, it reflects like a big light." "The overwhelming amount of red everywhere renders her unable to grasp where she's falling to and from where." "Even if our surroundings were to be painted in the black night, so that neither the sky nor the sea remained, the horizon line alone would still retain its faint glow." "It was undoubted that Isuzu was unaware of what exactly had happened." "The wind, pregnant with moisture, that blows over it is really refreshing and softly makes Asuho's bangs wave." If you can't see the problems in these, then HoshiMemo will probably be fine for you, honestly. But if you can't see substantial problems in every one of these lines, and you're unwilling to try to learn why all of them are problematic, you shouldn't be involved in a creative writing endeavor.

  3. In the recent days, Fuwans have noticed a steady increase in Top 5, 10, 20s, 50s posts across many boards, especially within "Recommendations". Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today, we'll be counting down our picks for the "Top 5 threads of Top Xs lists on Fuwanovel" (in no particular order) 5. Top 5 Fuwa member that got me thinking... by Huang Ling Yin This post exists only to capitalise on the recent trends of top Xs on Fuwanovel. It may seem like a useless post but in fact, the deeper you look, the more meta this is with plenty of snarky references. Needing some areas to improve in, this post needs a larger kick to it than the rest of our posts, however, as this top 5 list chooses not to reveal its ordering of the top 5s, we will not make further comment on how it is relative to the other 4 posts. 4. Top 5 VNs you should avoid. by Asonn This post was nominated not due to the choices or the legitimate vns to steer clear of, with a clear thought out reasoning nor is it due to this being labelled as a shitpost and moved to the coliseum for 20 minutes. Rather it is due to the Community's backlash, especially when it comes to Hoshizora no Memoria and its place on this list. 3. Dergonu's top 10 dark VNs to read before you die by Dergonu At first glance, this is a post simply about Dergonu's attempt to capitalise on the new trend too, as seen through his opening line "People have been making 'Top X' Lists recently..." and his failed attempt at padding his list with 40 filler VNs as seen "I couldn't fit 50 games onto the list", prioritising quality>quantity. However, upon closer inpsection, one may notice that Dergonu is simply trying to brainwash the weak minded through his innocent seeming post, recommending "dark VNs". However, he slips up as he says "to read before you die", as this highlights his true objective when making this thread, to paradoxically kill those who dare read his recommendations and then getting off to this idea for the following weeks. 2. 50 translated VNs you should read before you die by Kaguya People may be surprised to see an OG post on this top 5 list, however, let me explain. Kaguya's post transcends time and is still an item of popular debate to this day. His effort in handpicking 50 translated VNs in days where there were little translated VNs, and even less gems among these, Kaguya not only listed but also justified each visual novel he placed on the list, giving insight into which one he recommends to people to read. This truly is, and may forever be, the post that started it all as well as the best, longest standing top X list on Fuwanovel. However, this Top 5 list does not aim to persuade others which of these picks are the best and hence, we have chosen to leave all these picks unordered. However, with old things comes newer, better versions. As this was a list from 2013, many many visual novels have since been translated and reviewed by the warm, kind community of Fuwanovel. With that said, let's move on to some honorable mentions: Honorable mentions 1. 50 VNs in English that you should try at least once by littleshogun I believe no one is surprised to see littleshogun's recent post, the new and improved update to kaguya's post. littleshogun, with his vision of not only following in kaguya's footsteps of cramming in 50 visual novels, chooses that Kaguya's format is too convoluted, opting to instead not only remove and order (as Kaguya had done before), but even remove all reasonings to give all his Visual Novel recommendations a chance as the reader will now choose to simply pick a number between 1-50 and read that visual novel, much simpler than glancing through all of Kaguya's recommendations and one-line justifications where possible. This truly is the post of a lifetime, a renewal of an old, familiar post and updating it several years later, combining the old and the new to truly produce a top 50 list that has made it to our number one spot today on "Top 5 threads of Top Xs lists on Fuwanovel" If this Top 5 is well received, I will up it to a top 10! Do you agree with our list? Which Top X's threads do you think are the Top 5 on Fuwanovel? For new Top 5s published everyday, be sure to come on down and subscribe to WatchMojo.com.

  4. Unless steam relaxes its adult content rules it's really unlikely we'll be able to get on there without gutting some core aspects of the game and doing the adult patch option. Major platforms such as Nutaku and what not are still on the table. Though we would like to have a more complete product before looking into possible storefronts. As far as price point, it's likely going to be determined once we get a better scope of how long the game itself ends up being. On paper chapter 1 and 2 felt shorter than in execution. What we've got so far is only about 20% of the story give or take. It would be awesome if someone on the fuwa team did a review once it's complete. <3 We've seen some funny let's plays so far where someone censored the nsfw part with a cutaway on how to make tortillas from scratch. The dough was moaning lmao.

  10. Hey guys, Vanis here. I'm the programmer for Tentakero and I wanted to share with you guys our current game in development. Project Cappuccino. Some of you may have seen our demo on websites like NewGrounds and GameJolt but we have a downloadable version for you to try that's a lot nicer looking. (You can blow it up full screen ;P) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LERjBBcUQ5dx33AdQhFMSJxEvYrHHOybjR083bM2zYI/edit?usp=sharing About the Game You've landed a job at the Resting Bean Cafe & Inn! Friendly coworkers, great pay, a cute uniform-- It's like a dream come true! However, appearances can sometimes be deceiving... You quickly discover that the Resting Bean has it's share of secrets. Teamed up with Sophie, you decide to investigate the mysterious happenings in the cafe, but it will prove to be a harder task when your carnal desires seem to distract you at every turn. Just what will you discover? Game Play The general story content can be played through in VN fashion, proceeding through chapters. At the moment, we are currently working on Chapter 2, a portion of which is available in our demo. During the work day, you assign tasks to your maids, earning you money which you will then be able to use in our shop system once it is in place. The shop will allow you to buy new toys to use in NSFW game scenes with the girls. Screenshots Characters Sophie moved to the city from a small rural town. Her initial goal was to find a part time job while she studied, however, she fell in love with working at the Resting Bean Cafe and decided to devote full time to her job. She now dreams of owning her own cafe or restaurant one day. Sophie practiced Jiu-Jitsu back in her hometown and has recently become a black belt. A true social butterfly who loves meeting new people and making new friends. The present manager of the Resting Bean Cafe. Mira tends to be secretive about her past. To date, no one has learned much about her. She can be stern at times but seems friendly during most interactions. Some would call her a perfectionist with expensive tastes. Sophie has noticed that she’s rather lazy when it comes to manual work and would prefer to offload her responsibilities on others. The original owner and manager of the Resting Bean Cafe. She claims that her puppet like appearance is the result of a curse placed on her, however, Colette has been secretive about how it happened and refuses to give any details. Her mannerisms can be cold and distant, making her true feelings difficult to read. From what you can tell, her relationship with Mira is a strained one. What is she hiding? Social Media If you would like to keep up with ongoing development of the game, you can follow us basically anywhere: http://twitter.com/tentakero http://tentakero.tumblr.com There's more in store when it comes to characters but we aren't ready to present that just yet. We'll be updating this thread periodically with new content that has been added, primarily when a new public build is released. We appreciate any feedback/questions as we are constantly trying to improve any issues people may come across. Thanks! - Vanis

    hello there

yo! some of you might remember me , even though i wasn't much active here in the past (not so long ago Ü) i'm Gunter but i lost my account , and the email to which it was linked (talk about bad organization here )... so i'm back with another account, since i wasn't aware of how to get the old one back. i haven't changed that much : i'm 18 , i got into vn with my ex girlfriend by reading saya no uta, and the vns i enjoyed the more are the KNS serie . beside of Vns i have various interests , such as listening to music of miscellanous genres, but mainly hip hop/ rap / "lo fi " things /jazz , drawing , doing graffitis/painting murals (not what you're expecting from the Vn enthusiast cliché right?), playing yoyo and penspinning / penmoding , and trying to learn japanese (without really being serious (much more something you can expect Ü ) as you can not see because i write like shit, i'm studying english right now (first year of degree if i remember how to say it -_-) but what i truly want to do is art , so i'm just wainting to complete my degree to apply for an art school in france ... sooo yeah i'm french , and at the moment i live in Moorea, a small island near Tahiti ( and there's no point in being jealous thinking bout splendid landscapes and heaven like beaches, rn the weather is really awfull , and it's going to last for a bit lol ) i'll probably mainly lurk and maybe ask for recomendations, but it's good to be back ! (btw, is there a fuwa discord or something like that? might be interesting to get in ~ ) thank you for taking time to read this gunter

    What are you playing?

I would only agree if that statement came from "Killing another human being is a bad thing", "Your parents are human beings", therefore "Killing your parents is a bad thing". I don't see why a genetic relation should put a person over another, to be honest. But even then, death penalty is a controversial topic. I tend to be against it, but I'm really not sure if there could be situations where I would find it warrantable I'll just say that I don't regard death as a punishment, but as a permanent solution to a problem in some cases. As for Makina's endings:

  23. My gf knows more about it than she probably wanted to, but she even somewhat accepts my fixation on yuri and other weird stuff I show her from time to time. At least we're fully honest with each other. I share my Steam account with my brother so he has full access to my VN library, embarrassing userpage and all the reviews I've written, but I don't think he ever cared enough to check these things out/read them. My closest friend knows about it but he more or less hates everything anime so there's not much to talk about there. Also he's a bit of a homophobe so my liking for yuri weirds him out. My mother knows I'm into "anime" becuase she saw it dozens of time on my computer, but she's clueless about the topic and I'm far too old for her to question my tastes. Basically as I don't read VNs for porn I'm very transparent about my hobbies, I'm way past being embarrassed about watching/reading something after all those years of brony activity and using my fan knowledge for university projects. I don't really care if someone finds it weird - I know well enough myself that I'm a weirdo, if someone can't accept that it's their problem.

  24. What. You're telling me you're surprised women have a greater propensity to write love stories? I agree. Terribly surprising indeed. But seriously, it's just overall harder to recommend... wholesome seinen. It's almost as if one of its main characteristics is having ecchi or being a harem. With Shoujo it's not as much of a problem because they simply aren't that explicit, generally. Even when they are, the fanservice is directed at 'em girls, and, I must admit, bare male chests don't particularly embarrass me or prevent from recommending something quite as much as a camera shot pointed right into the lower parts. However, it would be unjust and inaccurate to say good Seinen and Shounen that don't revel in fanservice aren't out there. Let's try to list a few things; though I'll see if I can avoid things that are borderline hentai. Or not. Love Hina - Other, Harem Here's a classic. I don't read classics much. Generally because they're 200+ chapter-long drama fests or who only deign to give us romantic progression every centenary chapter. I know well how these things work, and I'm bloody tired of them. Thankfully, Love Hina isn't actually any of these things. The romance progresses nicely every few chapters, giving us intimate moments between the couple, and intercalating it with a few many chapters of comedy and development for all the other characters. It also doesn't try to take us hostage via drama, which I deem to be the greatest offence. Indeed, if there were such a thing as a romcom harem, this would be it. None of the three elements I just mentioned are neglected, making for an excellent read all around. However, anything that's long also implies that the story gets drawn out, so don't expect plot progress to be all that fast. Mahoraba - Other, Drama Ehhh, that "drama" tag is a bit iffy. To be more accurate, this manga tackles serious themes, if in an ever so childish manner. Here's a comedy that tell us the story of an apartment complex. It begins on the day our protagonist moves in and meets all the residents -- and what characters they are! I wouldn't be entirely off-base in saying that, at least in the "we're a community living together" aspect, Mahoraba is quite similar to Love Hina (I believe at least one of the character archetypes is exactly the same, even). The difference, then, lies in the fact that this one is not a harem. The story focuses on the protagonist and our heroine; And here shines the second main aspect of the story: the heroine. She suffers from some form of DID, which leads to plenty of comedic hijinks, sure, but the story doesn't shy away from trying to remind us that this is a serious problem for the girl, and how it affects her life. Regardless, I believe it never gets overbearingly serious, making for an excellent story all around, comedic (surprisingly!), romantic, and serious all the same. Hen Koi - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity, Explicit For the less than wholesome recommendations, let me start with this one. The title stands for "Weird Love", and that is both fairly accurate and not nearly close enough. In what is essentially a nukige plot, the heroine is the most popular girl in school and it turns out she has such an active libido that led to the protagonist being selected as the target of her desires. One day, he finds out about this, they have intercourse and become a couple. From then on it focuses on their time together after school, which, of course, almost always involves sex. Jesus Christ. Why would I recommend this? Because this story managed to make me go both "that's hot" and "that's cute, awwww". It's short, it's cute, it's funny, and it's best reserved for a day you may be in one of those moods. Can't See Can't Hear But Love - Other, Drama I am currently of the belief that Koreans make really dramatic dramas. That's because of this entry and another one that'll show up soon. The premise by itself is already really good, and yet they went that much further... to make it into a living hell and basically have me cry in pain and frustration. But let's start with the premise. A blind man is currently living with a deaf woman, his girlfriend. Who would've thunk it? But yes. Over the course of the story, what happens to them is tragic. Their backstories are tragic. Their neighbour's backstory is tragic. The neighbour's dog's backstory is tragic. I don't think I'm even exaggerating here. It is a drama through and through, and seems intent on showing us how things can get progressively more miserable. Of course, this makes the -- what, two chapters of pay-off? -- all the more rewarding. But. BUT. If, like me, you are not a fan of drama, don't put yourself through this. I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Renai Shimasen Ka? - Other Huh. Pretty much the only thing I remember about this one is that I felt it ended when it got good. Essentially, I really liked it at the time, but I can't remember why. The couple are both otaku and they've got some "dramatic" backstories, but so far as I remember what gripped me was the cute grill whenever the lad had a heart-to-heart with her. She was, indeed, especially cute at those times. Emma - Other This is a historical title, set in the United Kingdom, close to 1900. It is also the story of romance between a maid and her master. You know, the good stuff. Except she's not actually his maid and most of the story lacks the romance it very well could have had. Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent story, but, perhaps due to the historical accuracy, the main couple weren't together near as much as they could/should have after their initial couple of dates. Tragic, really. It's still an excellent story of a maid's life and a "nouveau riche" merchant, complete with rich people politics and maid gossip. It just feels like such a wonderful romance didn't get much development in the overall scheme of things. Did you get it, yet? I'm basically saying the story is so good that I wish there were more of it. DISCLAIMER: In fact, there is. "Emma: Further Tales" are extra chapters which detail... something, I'm not sure what, but I never read them because they seemed to introduce new characters and I was in no mood for that at the time. Toshiue no Hito - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity, Explicit I was reading reviews for this one, and it would appear this story is mainly bashed for not having enough drama. Wow. Goodie. Don't get me wrong, the drama was there, especially certain scenes towards the end, but this is a love story, and also a tale of growth. These two college students get together, date, their relationship grows. Sometimes somebody does something stupid (hint: the protagonist), but they get through it. It's also got some basically Hentai sex scenes. And uh... I think she was a loli? Not quite in appearance (which is sexy) or personality (which is that of a normal human being) as much as body type. Koibana Onsen - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity, Explicit, Harem? Koibana Onsen is about a Hotsprings inn specifically made for couples, and that leads said couples to get busy all the time, and all over the place. In comes our protagonist who, having broken up with his girlfriend, did not want to cancel the reservation he had made and came by himself. As the girls who work there are not accustomed to receiving sole guests, things take some odd turns, and he ends up working there! Oh, whatever will occur... Obviously, this manga has a lot of focus on sex. Nevertheless, I found it to be very good, and it surprised me! What seemed to be a simple harem, with a guy who'd go for the many girls actually turned out to be a cute (and sexual) romance where all the "harem" candidates ended up getting a partner of their own! This was unheard of to me. Through all the manga I've read, I've never seen this before. Maybe a rival or another may end up getting a partner of their own, but never the whole bloody harem! (note: I think there's one who doesn't, but I do not clearly recall) Give this a read if you're into sexy manga about sex and also like some decent sexy romance. It's just a raunchy, sexy, cute read overall. Koharu no Hibi - Other A quick warning for slightly disturbing content. The main girl has stalker/yandere tendencies. If you haven't run away yet, fantastic. If you're interested already, go read it. If you aren't, light spoilers ahead, allow me to try and convince you. This manga appeals to a very specific section of me: A section which believes all Yanderes can be handled with enough care, attention and smarts. To sum it up, it's a yandere story that doesn't go terribly terribly wrong. There are its tense and dramatic moments. There are its creepy moments. And it's clear the girl is not normal, but can she achieve her happy ending? Can a person actually find it in himself to look past all the faults and try to help and love the person instead of being filled with disgust? Maybe. B-gata H-kei - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity? I didn't for a second expect this manga to be so 'deep' or to end so well. It's a gag manga about a perverted (but relatively timid) girl, and her wish to sleep around with 100 guys. There's just one problem: she's a virgin, and that makes her afraid she'll be rejected by all the hot guys. So, she chooses a random guy that looks like he's inexperienced. And so begins the story. It's a comedy gag manga. There's not much plot to expect... except, there is some, and that's why I loved it so much. Over the course of the manga the 'couple' progresses, new characters are introduced, things happen! It's not static, but it can be extremely cute, whenever I'm not laughing to death. Give it a read, if you don't mind the subject matter. Mayo Chiki! - Other, Harem, Nudity Perhaps one of the most traditional manga on my list. It's an ecchi harem about a guy who has a nosebleed whenever he touches a girl and a girl who cross-dresses as a butler. *sigh* What a state manga is in when this premise isn't particularly abnormal for harem manga. However, the execution is where it triumphs. Because the main girl is beyond clear, and because the other character have interesting characters and interactions, and because the main couple is close and has intimate moments every few chapters, and because the comedy and hijinks is good... I ended up liking it despite it all. An ecchi shounen manga... but if you have to read one of those, make it this one. It has a solid conclusion. Hajimete Datteba - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity If a shounen or seinen author tried to write a Shoujo romance, maybe it'd come out a bit like this. This is the story of the two protagonists, of their first love and their relationship, as well as how they grow to know each other over time, and culminating in their first time. As well as these two, the stories and relationships of a few of their friends are also detailed, making for a slice-of-life with a few couples, no drama, and a lot of firsts. Software Engineer - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity This manga is shamelessly ecchi. It's all about that ridiculous setting, and how it's milked to produce fanservice and titillating scenes. Yet, it makes it here for that very setting, and for delivering. It is, in reality, a romance story, no matter how odd the surrounding circumstances. The main characters fall in love, they bond, they get together, the end. There's not much of anything else, but I was surprised, and that's enough. I did not think it would be so... decent (it is indecent, yes, but it's a decent manga). Fujiyama-san wa Shinshuki - Other, Nudity Have you ever heard of an innocent ecchi? No, not one of those about the main girl innocently engaging in innuendo. I mean a story about horny middleschoolers and how they end up developing a real relationship with time. That's exactly what this is. It's half silent (at least half of the panels have no dialogue, and simply depict scenery or scenes taking place), and it all starts when a middleschooler sees some breasts. This makes him confess to the girl, who accepts, and from there they grow to better understand and accept each other through a slow slice of life. In this way, it is really easy to empathise with, and you can probably imagine yourself when you were in middle school, and the way a girl's curves really attracted your attention. A lot of the shots, then, focus on the girl with this in mind. How a story can be so innocent, ecchi, slow and cute is beyond me, but they've managed it. Kanojo wa Rokubi - Other There are predictable stories and then there's this: the exact opposite. The characters are weird, the situations are surreal, the interactions are out of this world. There is rhyme or reason, it's just usually at odds with our own. Furthermore, most characters are inhuman, for they're youkai. This is a story I suggest you experience -- from characters getting excited from seemingly innocuous actions, to being capable of physically impossible actions, and getting themselves into trouble that way, to being flat-out incomprehensible -- all this and more, with a hint of romance on the outside. Love Lucky! - Other, H-Scenes, Nudity, Smut? Guilty pleasure? Maybe. If you want escapism, look no further! A guy just happens to get married to an idol... who also happens to be really innocent and in love with him. Read on as they... ...kiss! ...have sex! ...have pointless drama that lasts little more than a chapter! ...have said drama culminate in a make up scene, which may or may not involve sex! ...rinse and repeat. I want enough of this to fill up the entire 50 chapters. Tropey, predictable and generally plotless as it might be, this is the perfect adult ecchi if you're looking to pass the time with a surrealistically cute and loving wife, titillating scenes and immediate payoff from the drama, please go ahead. Dishonourable Mentions: Yume de Aetara - Other, Drama, H-Scenes Painfully shoujo-like. A story of misunderstandings and love triangles, coupled with occasional sweet moments and over a hundred chapters... I can't actually recommend this one in good conscience. As one of the first few romance manga I read, it is back from a period where I could stand love triangles and chapters upon chapters of no official relationship. It's the sort of story that, once it grabs your investment, you can't leave it. It's also through said investment that it actually "pays off". If you stick to it a hundred chapters, of course you're going to be as happy as the main protagonist when there's some tangible progress. How, then, did I like it so much? It's by the guy who made Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie, and you can tell that is just a better version of this one. Courtesy of being by the same guy, I also happen to like the character designs, general art, and caricatures very much, despite that usually not being too much of a factor. To conclude, it's not the best. The last few dozen chapters are essentially the pay-off, but they do require you to read the hundred chapters previous to that, and with the good moments intercalated with frustrating situations and drama, you may not want to go through with it. Sankarea - Other, Drama, Nudity? A quick warning for the presence of light gore and horror elements. The author seems to get a quick of making things looking more disgusting than he needs to. This Shounen romance seems to do all the kinds things I dislike... while still having a good enough premise to hook me in and force me to read the whole thing. The story started well -- boy meets girl, they interact a bit, become friends, and then circumstances lead the girl to become a zombie. They then need to learn more about what consequences being a zombie has, and how to deal with them, and we watch the couple work towards these goals, along with both comedy and light horror as we see them witnessing the consequences of her now zombie status. But over time, more and more plot elements get introduced, along with characters, and the story just keeps on growing in scope. It's no longer about the couple as it is an amazing quest to discover the truth and save the girl. Drama, cliffhangers, exposition dumps, love triangles, and shounen troupes abound. It becomes a story that is entirely different from what I started reading and, in my case, that was not for the better. And this is a shame: The couple had a real thing going, the girl was cute and the more light-hearted moments were quite funny and endearing. Unfortunately, the tonal shift into shounenland soured my experience considerably. In light of all this... I can probably recommend the anime instead! I hear it focuses more on the romance, since it covers very little of the story. Did you spot the pattern? Exactly! Not only was the 'drama' tag rampant, there were even small cases of 'harem', and love triangles or H-Scenes are basically unavoidable. Pffft, and then this guy is surprised I recommended so few Seinen. Oh, and thanks for your recommendations. I will look at them... Eventually. I just seem to have some 200 other things to read first maybe?
