    Hello!!

Nice to meet you everyone! (´・ω・`) I'm a shy girl from Japan looking to expand my knowledge about eroge overseas. I noticed that lots of eroge is now not aimed at Japan but overseas too so I'm here to research that together with my search for new friends. Japan only has BBS and twitter for eroge and no real forum like this so I'm looking to find new friends here (*´ω`*) I'd like to use twitter too but don't want to use my real twitter for that because my parent will know I play eroge then. ( ;∀;) I played eroge for 2 years (my brother's stuff but now finally last December I was able to buy my first own eroge! o( ❛ᴗ❛ )o Hope we can get along m(_ _"m) Cute gif below

  2. Hello again. Today, I have the fourth week of progress updates. There has been some good progress over the past week, but first of all, please welcome @Arcadeotic to the position of QC. Now for the updates. Translation: Prologue - 68% (1224/1791) TLC Prologue - 39% (707/1791) Edit Prologue - 21% (385/1791) We are still looking for a dedicated TLC as the other translator is only doing it for the prologue. If you think you are capable enough for the position, please PM me. That's all I have for this week. The prologue patch we are planning is inching ever closer now, so look forward to that. See you guys next update.

  4. If anybody is interested, I compared Hikari route between english and japanese versions to check how the h-scenes were handled. It seems like Pulltop actually made separate all ages version, but released it only in English - for example there are some voiced lines in all-ages version, that I didn't found in original (although I could have missed some of them as I was mostly skipping through it). Here are differences that I found. Common route: Hikari route: So overally I think it was handled pretty cleverly. Dialogue was reworked - and it seems that even some voiced lines were added or altered - to seam it together and don't leave the impression of "butchered" story - it all flows smoothly. It's a pity that they didn't release +18 english version, but as for making all-ages version - not bad job.

  5. Having just put Kajitsu down, I had to go looking for other's thoughts, perhaps even some commiseration - thus I'm a little late to this thread. What can I say - hated it. Only because I don't like smug, mean-spirited, d-bag protagonists, and I'm not too fond of heroines that behave that way either. A little, sure - but that was 20 hours of it... and how quickly that loli went from "cute kid" to... just ... ugh... It's really odd that the one thing we have in common - liking Michiru, the deredere, would-be tsundere - is one prominent reason I didn't like Kajitsu, and what I found most annoying about the common route. She was constantly being bullied by the jerk protag (I have more colorful words for him, trust me), his little loli was even beating on her physically while he applauded and praised her for it... telling her to tie the ropes tighter next time so that Michiru would become "rope-drunk" and then be more ... compliant. I know - comedy, right? And I am just amazed that some folks said they laughed their ass off. Really. Amazed. Wow. The MC is abusive and yet clueless as to how bizarre of a person he was, while being a typical eroge perv coupled with a perfectly smug d-bag. He couldn't imagine why anyone would "stare at water" because Michiru liked looked out at the ocean. And the robot, Sachi - she may have been taken advantage of, but even she repeatedly stomps on Michiru's self-esteem, despite that she would strip her clothes off in public just at the perv's suggestion she should "show panty" sometimes... which itself was just weird. She misunderstood almost EVERYTHING, and yet even she felt superior and was snide and even vicious about little Michiru. That girl never got a break. Then she was deathly afraid of riding in the truck with Amane, so Yuugi, the dbag had the other girls get in the car, then he got scared and tricked Michiru, as he always did, making HER drive with Amane again - after apparently suffering injuries and trauma from previous experience. Such a gentleman. No wait - he's the opposite, that's right. An abusive, stuck-up asswipe. Sorry - that's a fact. Even if ya liked it - the guy was a jerk. So - in a way, aside from the nauseatingly repetitive _attempts_ at humor - where the Loli suddenly alternates between talking like a trucker and talking like a teen-hooker, knowledgeable in the ways to please old men in a brothel, or Sachi will once again behave far more moronically than the one girl she insults in every scene, while the protag never berates her for lacking a brain, only to ... oh yeah, Michiru will try to act tsundere for some reason, yet always be called idiot, simpleton, etc.. despite the fact that she's clearly more observant and on-the-ball than the smug protag... - Oh! That was the humor, right!? Michiru the fake-tsundere is an idiot again, right Yuuji? Ummm - "rope-drunk", huh? I think I might not want to see this guy's H-scenes at all, lol.. jeeez. Oh - this was all funny, of course. Amaaaazing. One other thing - sometimes, HYPE about a game really does far surpass any that the game actually deserves. So - repetitive as watching paint dry, and - really tired of seeing the only girl that seemed like she was actually nice getting abused, psychologically and physically. And - if you're going to say "it's humor, idiot!" ... just save it. I know what humor is. Even in that mess, it couldn't decide between drama that's humorous or humor that's dramatic or... it had these untertones, fairly dark - sandwiched between that repetitive grade-school slapstick. I am getting a laugh now though at least. From the thread. But - Kajitsu SUCKED.

  7. Very different from their other VNs like what Dreamysyu. The setting is a fantasy/supernatural one for starters. Also, the storyline is convoluted and a bit disjointed; the final 2 chapters leave you withmore questions than it answers (I also did not like the solution presented in 'terra' to the central problem in the VN) Couple of other things you should take note of of Rewrite: 1) It is VERY long, especially the Terra arc. You should take note of this if you don't like reading wall of text 2) This is my personal peeve with the VN; There's an route with an unfinished ending (which is resolved in it's FD). I hated this kind of thing in VNs though and thought I should mention it in case you feel the same Perhaps try something like Subahibi if you want something totally different than what you usually read. Seems to be a thought-provoking title like like Yume Miru Kusuri. Personally, I voted for F/SN. Great chuunige title that every VN fan should read at least once

I don't really have otaku friends either... (^ ^; ) But I think it would be pretty normal to gain interest in eroge too after playing galge! Just getting eroge is very hard when you are not 18 so I think it is very rare. Girls playing eroge in anime is more like "otoko no roman" I think...

  15. As the title suggest this is a list of the VNs released in english that has a physcial release. I personally love to have physcial copies of VNs as I like collecting things. I recently made a list with the VNs that have official english releases and figured I could use that to make this list. I have marked availablility with colour, red means no longer available, blue means officially available but hard to get (generally things like conventions) yellow means currently available but only for a short period and orange is not yet opened for pre order. Also if I make some mistakes when making the list please say so. Things that are marked as not available could potentially be found at places like Amazon or Ebay, since I didn't include pages like this for availability. There might be sales or discounts on some sites but not other sites, so if you are thinking of buying it and would rather save some money I would recommend to go through the sites selling it, mainly Mangagamer, Jlist and rightstufanime. I guess I should also go a bit more into details about what I mean by limited time, this includes physicals that are only sold through a kickstarter within a limited time as well as titles that seem to go out of stock soon. MangaGamer ( Store ) JAST USA ( Store ) Sekai Project (Homepage)/Denpasoft Front Wing (Homepage) Other Himeya Soft (Bankrupt) Hirameki International (Quit the VN market) Console

  16. Note: This game was already reviewed on Fuwa by Valmore, I encourage you to check out his review as well Those that follow this blog for a while might have noticed that I like to complain about the lack of identity that many Western-made VNs suffer from. As a medium utilized pretty much exclusively by the fans of original Japanese visual novels, EVNs far too often borrow extensively from those when it goes to setting and story elements, to the point of replicating various tiring anime clichés and kitsch tropes. They also frequently copy elements that really have no interest being in a game created by someone living in the USA or Europe, more often than not having only very superficial knowledge of Japanese culture and reality of life in Japan. A Little Lily Princess, developed by Hanako Games and published on Steam in May 2016 (under the "Hanabira" label, signifying an outside scriptwriter), is a game that I like bringing up as an example of a Western VN that was able to differentiate itself from the crowd and create unique experience exactly because of the ability to not be completely defined its “weeb” roots, creating a setting and a story far detached from typical anime tropes. Paradoxically, the classic English novel A Little Princess, that this game adapted into the VN/dating sim format, is not a title unknown to anime fans, thanks to the highly-rated series from the 1980’s, Little Princess Sara (it even inspired a few less known projects, such as the slightly outlandish Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry). Hanako’s version tries to differentiate itself from those other adaptations mostly by giving a yuri spin to the story – still, as I will try to show in this review, calling it a yuri romance is rather misleading and says little about the true appeal of this game. 18. I've only read Fate/Stay Night of the choices you linked, but really liked it. It's a very good VN (the music is a standout) and it'll be something you will be reading for quite a while. The nice thing too is the story is (IMO at least) pretty special in that it's the kind that makes you think and perhaps question yourself. Don't really want to say too much and venture into spoilers, but it kind of starts off slow and (for me at least) a bit confusing, but if you stick with it, it rewards that with a story that's hard to find (or replicate) elsewhere. You also mentioned having some reservations about the action, and I'd say the action is pretty well done in the VN. It doesn't feel slow or forced, and IMO it's done well enough to make it easy to visualize what's going on and be immersed in it. That's the other benefit - once you have read it, you can (assuming you enjoy it) go back and watch the adaptations done by Ufotable which are (quite frankly) gorgeous and quite well done (considering how they adapt the source material). I'm assuming you haven't read anything in the Fate universe, but finishing FS/N also opens up quite a lot of decent/good/really good anime seasons / light novels that you can dig into. It's kind of hard to talk about it without saying too much or giving things away, but IMO the story was definitely worth a read, and I'd say it's worth a recommendation to anyone who hasn't read it yet. I don't know enough to comment on any of the other choices, but it seems like you can't go wrong with any of them. Instead, I'll leave it at that - if you decide to read one of the others instead, then at some point do give FS/N a try.

  19. Well, I love Shinsekai Yori and I'm not a big fan of Evangelion, and I like both of these, so there's that. But, on the other hand, Subahibi is pretty similar to Evangelion, so it'll probably be safer to avoid it. As for Umineko, it's just its own thing. I can't really compare it to any other anime or VN I've read/watched. I wouldn't use MLA as a reference, the way it handles action is very different. I don't thing it's possible to see if you are going to like this type of the VN before you try them. Oh, yeah, it's very different from the other Key VNs. I wouldn't recommend even comparing it to them, because it's just different. It has a comedic common route which is pretty standard for Key VNs, but then goes a completely different way. For example, one route is a standard chuunige-like action, and another is more of the mystery-horror type of the story, and the third route is more about "politics". One great thing about this VN is its worldbuilding, but it also has quite a lot of plot-holes.

  20. I voted for FSN, since as Dreamysyu said you don't have anything similar in your list, it'll do just fine if you want to try different things! ^.^ Rewrite seems good for you too, looking at your list. Subahibi seems like a way too drastic change of what you usually read, so I would vote against that unless you're prepared to go waaaaaaaay out of your confort zone.

Help me choose my next VN!

Honestly, just google "random number 1-6" and pick the corresponding novel. You can't really go wrong. Although, I couldn't make it past the first 2-3 parts of Subahibi.

  22. I've read 4 of these, and... all of them are pretty great, so I can't really recommend any of them over the others, to be honest. I guess, just read whatever VN you are more interested in at the moment. I'll lay down my basic impression of them. Umineko - starts as a relatively enjoyable mystery at first and turns into massive (but amazing) mindfuck later on. Basically, a postmodern reconstruction of the mystery genre. My personal most favorite VN of all time, but it's definitely not for everyone. Subahibi - even more massive midfuck, but with h-scenes. One philosophical VN actually done right. Fate - simply a nice action story with amazing characters. Probably, one VN that should actually be read by everyone, but you don't really have anything similar in your list, so I'm not sure if you're going to like it. Rewrite - very nonuniform VN. It's basically a nakige, an utsuge and a chuunige in one VN, but, actually, most parts are done pretty well, so it's not a flaw. Plus, I'm a big fan of its true routes. Dies - I've only read the prologue, but it has a great start. Another action-oriented VN. Edit. I guess, I'll vote for Fate.

    Hello!!

Among the western VN fanbase there are a lot of people who want to learn japanese, many of which work on japanese by themselves. Because of this there are probably many who don't have much experience with actually writing and talking in japanese, instead they have mostly practised reading. These people probably want to try to use their japanese knowledge when it is possible. It should probably not be unexpected that at least one person who isn't that good at japanese grammar would try to reply in japanese on this thread.

  25. When people think the earth is flat you know there is no chance of them ever listening to logic. It is probably easier to convince them that the moon is a cheese made by unicorns rather than to actually convince them that the earth is not flat.

  27. This argument is near impossible to win. If that is the attitude you are met with, I wouldn't know how to counter that in a way where the other person could be convinced otherwise. I suspect this depends on who you are asking, but I don't think anybody views it worse than "accepted that other people like that". Personally I have no problem with a female playing moege. In fact it could be moe in itself What made it bad in my case was the business relationship. If it was just some random person from the internet, then I would have banned him when he insisted on me spending time on his nonsense.

  28. It seems to be slightly different exe version. All-ages steam version is bilingual (like steam version of Little Busters) - it allows to switch between english and japanese text. +18 version from Denpasoft doesn't have this feature. But sometimes they don't release a patch/dlc, but just separate +18 version via Denpasoft.

  29. If only all VN adaptations were treated with the same respect S;G 0 is actually getting, i think anime might be saved, cause there are a lot of VNs that have strongs stories and deserves to be adapted far more than endless stream of LNs.

  30. Your project looks like a simulation game with RPG elements and (perhaps) the story told in VN format (idk for sure. You and your twitter/FB pages didn't give us much story infomation to work with) I think it's best if you focus on the gameplay aspects as the storyline feels too shallow to build a VN around with. Also, since you are a small indie studio with limited resources (as of now), it will be very difficult to reach even half of Kamdori's scale. The graphics looks pretty good, and you may want to post some of your project's BGM if you want feedback on it. Lastly, both your twitter and FB hyperlinks direct back to this fuwanovel thread. Not a big deal but just thought I'll mention it Good luck with your project!

  35. Pretty much anyone who hates on English dubs for either outdated reasons (many of them have likely not given a good dub a chance) or stupid reasons ("no emotion" "Japanese/original is always 100% better no questions asked" "I can feel the better acting in Japanese even though I don't understand the language" "Dubs suck because everyone on the internet says so") It's one thing to prefer a language and you're fine to like subs more but hating on things for dumb/uneducated reasons has made me just avoid any topic related to dubs vs subs or hating on dubs since otherwise it'll just be me arguing with ignorant bigots.

  40. Honestly random shitposting can be annoying for some people, but then again I understand though if they just want to have fun. That said, since this community is pretty much the public place which mean that everybody can see it (Not just registered user), I can say that once again it can be annoying for some people. Especially so when some guests here was probably want to check the VNs news or VNs discussion, only to find that some of the posts here was more or less what we can called shitpost. So the ideal situation here would be that if the users didn't do the shitpost here. ... Or so that's what should be really happen. But then again reality is not really nice so maybe a bit of shitpost is necessary for some entertainment (ie having fun), but it didn't mean that multiple users can suddenly bombard the topic list for multiple meaningless threads just because someone initiate that meaningless thread trend, or looking back at December baiting someone to do the shitposting while the baited one thinking that he was very serious with his replying. In the end, what I can say is that once again everyone else can see the content at this community, so I think the users here should be mindful of what they post here. I'm sorry for the rant here, but I also did have some annoying experience back at around 2 AM when I checked up Fuwanovel before sleep, only to find this thread was set the meaningless AMA threads trend. So at least I can speak the shitpost from the guest perspective as well. For the last word here, keep in mind that all of what I wrote here just my personal opinion so I understand that someone will be disagree with me.

    Ass Creed 4: Black Flag

They should have made it a full fledged pirate game, it would have been amazing. All the assassin bits really just drug the whole game down for me, the whole story was inane gibberish and I hated having to do the same damn tailing missions over and over again. The sea shanties were real amazing though, I really loved setting sail.

  42. Kami Nomi: Godessess (the third season) For the first two seasons The World Only God Knows seems like a very chill, mostly comedic anime spoofing romance anime tropes etc., but the third season basically turns everything upside-down, with a life-or-death situation as the main axis of the story and quite a lot of tension. There's also that one scene... That scene made me cry and after that, made me feel sick for two days straight. I know I wasn't the only one, as I've seen people writing very similar things on Crunchyroll and in other places... While I think quite a few anime series made me emotional - Elfen Lied a long time ago, lately things like Konohana Kitan or Ancient Magus' Bride - and some of them maybe even got a few tears out of me, that's the only case I can remember when I cried for like 10 minutes non-stop and felt genuinely devastated.
