A Sky Full of Stars - How is it really?
snowbell55 and one other reacted to adamstan for a topic
Well, I completed the game (and then skipped through JP version). To my utmost surprise, I think I actually like all-ages version more Only in Hikari route h-scenes are well placed in my opinion - in the others, some of them seem a little forced, as if they were put there just to meet the quota. As for all-ages version - it feels quite natural in all routes, and I actually liked some of the replacement scenes better. So to sum it up - I didn't feel like anything was missing from all-ages version. It is decently reworked, so it doesn't feel "incomplete" or "butchered" at all to me. Waaaay different than poor hackjob they did with Konosora. Translation still has some weak points, but it's almost decent . So if you don't mind lack of h-scenes - it is worth playing.2 points -
List of physical english releases of VNs
bakauchuujin and one other reacted to Dergonu for a topic
Hey! We have not forgotten about that, and we are planning to go over the pinned threads in this board in the near future. (We were discussing it just the other day in the mod forum, actually.) When we do get around to that, we'll probably pin this one as well, as it's a very informative and detailed list. (Good job, @bakauchuujin!)2 points -

List of physical english releases of VNs
yuriyume reacted to bakauchuujin for a topic
As the title suggest this is a list of the VNs released in english that has a physcial release. I personally love to have physcial copies of VNs as I like collecting things. I recently made a list with the VNs that have official english releases and figured I could use that to make this list. I have marked availablility with colour, red means no longer available, blue means officially available but hard to get (generally things like conventions) yellow means currently available but only for a short period and orange is not yet opened for pre order. Also if I make some mistakes when making the list please say so. Things that are marked as not available could potentially be found at places like Amazon or Ebay, since I didn't include pages like this for availability. There might be sales or discounts on some sites but not other sites, so if you are thinking of buying it and would rather save some money I would recommend to go through the sites selling it, mainly Mangagamer, Jlist and rightstufanime. I guess I should also go a bit more into details about what I mean by limited time, this includes physicals that are only sold through a kickstarter within a limited time as well as titles that seem to go out of stock soon. Lurker saying hi
+StrikeR+ reacted to FatEdenshaw for a topic
Hey guys! Just thought I'd say hi since I just registered yesterday on fuwanovel. Though most likely I will be mainly a lurker here. I'm a 28 year old from Sweden, been a fan of Japan and Asia for pretty much my entire life, games, anime, movies, music, language, culture, you name it. Lived in Tokyo for a year and will most likely move back next year, amazing city. For some reason I've not played all that many Visual Novels in the past. Recently though I've started exploring them more and I like what I've uncovered so far, but I'm still a newbie. So far I've played Danganronpa 1-2, Psycho Pass, Root Letter, Leviathan Last Day of the Decade, Ever17 and Dengeki Stryker. Tried a few others here and there but can't remember which ones it was. Right now I'm playing Majikoi since it's been highly recommended to me. Also playing the first Ace Attorney game however I don't feel it's quite a visual novel but more of a point and click/investigations type of game. Anyways I hope to see you around!1 point -

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate: The Review Yummy, Yummy, Yummy I got love in my tummy, and I feel like a-loving you (From left to right; Satsuki, Michiru, Isara, Mifuyu, and Chisato) The Setup Chocolate, it truly bridges the cultural divide and brings people together. There is not a person alive who has not at least heard of its existence. It's a world renown symbol of love and diabetes, and a advertisers dream. For Oojima Yuuki and his childhood friend Chisato it means so much more than just that. Can tragedy that is caused by chocolate be saved by chocolate? (Cue: Ride of the Valkyries) The Story Yuuki is a man who doesn't have much to ask for. All he wants is too finish out his remaining high school years at the preposterously exclusive Takafuji Gakuen Academy with the rest of his friends. Well that and for people to get his last name right for once. There they play out their lives in the Food Research Club otherwise known as Shokken! In that hollowed club room Yuuki and his friends, well they don't do much at all exactly. They pretty much us the club as an excuse to eat all the sweets they can get their hands on. It's presumed that the only thing he and his cohorts research is the amount of cavities they will develop. However, the dawn of a new school year brings fresh challenges that threaten Yuuki's peaceful existence. Student Council elections are on the horizon and with it the brazen and beautiful Satsuki Shinonome who threatens to bring down judgment like the wrath of God upon Shokken. As the head of the Financial Affairs Committee, she makes it her campaign goal to dramatically decrease the schools budget. In order to do that she decides to cut funds for clubs she deems to be undeserving and for a club as fundamentally useless as Shokken she threatens annihilation. Now, in order to protect the club and their remaining precious memories Yukki will have to become the peoples champion and throw his hat into the race. Will Yukki manage to do the impossible and protect the Shokken, or will he be swept aside by forces beyond his control? The idea for the story is pretty straightforward and simplistic but it serves as a strong enough foundation for the ensuing drama of each characters route. Oh, speaking of characters (Look at all of them, standing there, staring at you.) The Characters First off is our protagonist Oojima Yuuki and he is one of the better developed leading men that I have encountered. Maybe that is because I also hate it when someone butchers my last name, even though it's so easy to say if you stop to think for one second! That, and I am also terrible about noticing whether or not a girl is interested in me or not. That did not stop me from wanting to strangle the life out of him on many occasions, but still I could sympathize. He is initially hesitant about becoming a candidate but he eventually rises to the occasion. Furthermore, you can actually see his face once or twice, that alone raises his stock. Second is the resident main girl and childhood friend Chisato. She stuns locks us into her route from the very beginning and if you want to date any of the other girls you have to go through her first. That notion might turn off a few people but for me I didn't mind it too much. She is a incredibly important character and she effects every relationship that Yuuki is involved with. She is your typical tsundere character but even still she has quite a bit of depth to her. Coming into it I thought I would end up really disliking her, but surprisingly enough by the end of it I had a completely different opinion of her. Next is Michiru who is a quiet cat like girl and the newest addition to the Shokken. Michiru was a character that I liked as soon as I met her. Maybe it had to do with the fact that she is rather mysterious and the quiet type. Her route is definitely the strangest one, and unfortunately it completely broke my suspension of disbelief. One thing is for certain it definitely has one of the more memorable harmonica tunes out there. She's also just super cute! Mifuyu is up next and she is best friends with both Chisato and Yuuki. She was another character I was surprised that I ended up liking. Usually I'm not interested in characters that suffer from a vague malady, but I made an exception for Mifuyu. Her route was definitely one of my favorites of Koi and I liked how it really tested the three's friendship. After that is Isara a hardworking girl with a brilliant smile who cutely ends nearly every single sentence with a little...aha! Or at least I think it was supposed to be cute. I tried it out a couple of times in front of the mirror and it didn't really sound cute at all...aha! Isara is from a poor family and is only able to attend Takafuji through some student welfare system. It's a very bizarre system that makes the students work in factories while they go to school. It also causes the students who are part of that system to be treated as second class citizens. Aha! Last of all is Satsuki the head of the financial committee and the mortal enemy of the Shokken. I enjoyed her route the most out of all of them. The drama felt the most convincing and grounded. Satsuki and Yuuki seemed to really compliment each other and the romance felt very natural. She also has a cute side once you get under her aloof nature. Aside from the heroines there is a surprisingly large cast of well developed side characters. Some of the standouts are Nozomi a brilliant mad scientist type of character, Hazuki the alcoholic teacher, Ai and Kii two life long friends otherwise known as the monkey duo, and Yume who has a strange and unsubtle fixation on Yuuki. (Truly, Michiru is cuteness incarnate) My Two Cents Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, despite coming across as some kind of insidious advertisement for the chocolate industry was really enjoyable. The characters and their routes are all well developed and well written. On top of that the art was gorgeous throughout. I think a special mention should go to the way the backgrounds were handled I think they are some of the best I have ever seen. It is rare to see a visual novel that actually has characters in the background shots but that is what Sprite did. Normally you just have to imagine that the busy streetcorner or classroom is populated and in Koi's case a few of the background characters could have easily been side characters in their own right. On the negative side one thing that really stuck out to me is how absurd the Academy comes across as. It's this huge entity that has a student run school budget at a billion yen, has a department that involves spies and wiretaps, operates a broken welfare system for students who cannot afford to attend normally, and let's a teacher use a club room as a minibar. Two of the routes really seem to go off the deep end, and I was almost disappointed that Yuuki didn't uncover a assassination plot against him. It's the type of school that could suddenly reveal that it's secretly a covert military training base for supersolders and would hardly seem surprising. Because of that, I found it hard to take some of the dramatic moments seriously and that hurt some of my enjoyment. Ultimately, despite my pummeled suspension of disbelief I still had a good time with Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, and I would encourage you to give it a chance even though you are forced to complete Chisato's route first. She is not that bad I swear! (See? Look at you've done!)1 point

List of physical english releases of VNs
Plk_Lesiak reacted to phantomJS for a topic
Good day, Mods, Is this gonna get pinned? If not, it's gonna fall further and further down below into the section. Also, I would like to revive my suggestion for a thread/topic (Could name it like 'List of English-Translated Visual Novels') and moving all related topics into it. Previously, it was suggest that the old lists that Decayed and Okami made should be unpinned. I think my idea works better since those 2 lists can still serve some purpose (such as for reference).1 point -

Based on personal anecdotes, they don't appear to be especially effective (and, as Tymmur pointed out, do little to stop wildlife coming into contact with your dog). We have a fence, though, so I couldn't really tell you other than what I've heard.1 point

Inquiry for Dog Owners

Better for your dog to experience a bit of a shock rather than a passerby getting bit.1 point -
I think it would be bad to give your dog a shock. Imagine if it's you who would have to learn that you get electric shocks whenever you approach some area and the only way to figure out where is by trial and error. I'm also not fully convinced it can't get a false positive, which would be horrible for your dog. For all I know, turning on your vacuum cleaner could make an electric field, which could trigger the shock collar. While it's not the cheapest solution, a proper fence is the best solution. It would be good to avoid contact between your dog and wildlife. Depending on where you live, you may or may not have hedgehogs wandering around your garden, usually, but not always at night. If a dog and a hedgehog meet, then it's bad news for the hedgehog. It will go into defense position and if the dog is hurt, it might attack. Alternatively it might decide to just carry it to somewhere else. Either way the hedgehog can come in contact with dog teeth, get a scratch, which will then turn into an infection, which can kill it in a few weeks. The amount of hedgehog fatalities due to dogs is significant, which is bad considering hedgehogs are endangered and protected animals. Besides hedgehogs are beneficial because they eat a bunch of bugs, which would otherwise cause damage to plants and crops. Ideally you should train your dog to leave hedgehogs alone. However I have yet to meet a dog successfully trained for that. The second best solution is a fence, which prevents hedgehogs from walking into the territory of the dog, hence preventing them from encountering each other. A proper fence also prevents other dogs from suddenly entering your garden to start a fight. It happens once in a while that some dog runs away from home and before it's caught, it enters the property of somebody else and attacks the dog.1 point

Fate/Grand Order
BookwormOtaku reacted to TheUnknownMercenary for a topic
There is no way to increase "Star" level but you can GRAIL servants. star just really means your lvl cap, so 5star is capped at 90, 4 at 80, 3 at 70, 2 at 65, 1 at 60? i think. So of course their stats are lower if they have lower star level, but stats don't really mean too much. It's all about skills and NP. This is why people like Cu, Hans, Hassan, are GREAT as they have amazing skills and/or NP abilities despite having lower "stats" and level "cap" However by Grailing servants (once they reach max cap level you can use a Holy Grail to increase their level cap (before 90 it goes up by 5 so, 60 -> 65 -> 70 -> 75 -> 80 -> 85 -> 90, 90 goes up by 2 to 100 so 90 -> 92 -> 94 etc to 100 which is THE level CAP) you can get lower stars to be on relatively better footing to compare to upper stars. However note that in this game GRAILS are limited, you will get more as time goes on but they are entirely limited resources so be careful on who you grail. It is recommended to grail the servants you REALLY like rather than for "stats" or "min/max"ing as the servants you really like are the ones you will most likely play with and therefore you will get the most out of grailing those. To get 5* servants it's rare even on rateup. Rateup just means that 5 star servants are 1% chance. if the game registers you as getting a 5 star it will then randomize WHICH 5 star you get, rateup just means when this RANDOMIZE process starts you will have a better chance at getting that servant. but this does not increase the 1% In saying that, if you want to remain free to play, just save up your quarts and tickets and don't go ham on spending them, spend every now and again, a multi here and multi there, a ticket every now and then. you may get lucky. I myself for instance spent 2 tickets randomly on the story gacha and got a 4 star AND a 5 star. I have spent a few multis on banners and got both the 4 star and 5 stars in a few multis...but at the same time I have gone over 1000sq without getting a single 5 star before and also over 500 without a single 4 star. and even THEN you aren't guaranteed the servant you wana roll for...so just appreciate everything you get, don't go ham, and have fun.1 point -

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the comments, and for following the project. If you haven't been keeping up with the spreadsheet, Eris's route has been fully translated as of last week, and is now in the QC/editing process. I'll be working on the side stories next, before progressing onto the other main chapters. No word yet on a partial patch, but stay tuned! Cheers.1 point -

kokoro reacted to Infernoplex for a topic
There are some partial scripts leftover from the project. MDZ finished one of the routes and I think common route is also TLed, so there's that. Sarcasm on or off? Edit 1: Oh, I didn't know about this one actually. I knew about Cocoro project that was started by Dr. Kleiner back in the day, but this one seems to be by someone else? I managed to dig out from the wayback machine this: https://wayback.archive.org/web/20141018211613/http://gokurousama.wordpress.com/ I don't know who this is, but whoever it was, the project is surely 100% dead. @StrategyMasterz Edit 2: Forget what I said, I didn't know about this blog before. Dr. Kleiner = Gokorousama. For a moment, I was confused whether there were two separate projects for Cocoro at the same time.0 points
