I wonder? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yep, I did it. And it didn't even take me 20 years as I originally suspected. Since there's nothing to do with this thread anymore, and AMA's are getting old, and it's not like I have anything interesting to tell about myself anyway, just... bring here the nicest VN fanarts you can find or something?5 points

How do you honestly feel about President Trump?
Happiness+ and one other reacted to 1P1A for a topic
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Donald Trump. His regular moves against the deep state are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Art of the Deal, most of his strategies go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Trump's hedonistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation. His personal philosophy draws heavily from Albert Camus and Friedrich Nietzsche, to just make a couple of examples. The true Trump voters understand this stuff. They have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these moves, to realise that they’re not just intelligent, but his decisions are the best moves in the history of American government. As a consequence people who dislike Donald Trump are truly idiots. Of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Trump’s existential catchphrase “Build that wall” which itself is a cryptic reference to John Carpenter’s all-American epic Escape from New York. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Donald Trump’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens daily. What fools. How I pity them. And yes, by the way, I do have a Donald Trump tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid.2 points -

If you're looking for the romance aspect, I wouldn't recommend them. They are very plot + character heavy, so the game never "goes" into actual relationships. There's a very obvious crush between the two main characters, with really cute scenes, but it's not a defining aspect of the game nor does it have much "screen time". @snowbell55Hm... Mask of Truth might be better due to it being the half where the story is truly "realized" and where you learn all the stuff about the characters and world. It's the true climax of the story, so it has that going for it. On the other hand, if you are more into the casual side of the game, then Mask of Deception will be the good old times that you miss.2 points -
Finally done with Rewrite. Officially speaking, I was done with it after completing the Terra ending yesterday. However, I had to complete a lot of quests to get to the optional route, which I finished just a few minutes ago. Well, what can I say? Rewrite is known to be Key's longest vn and fundamentally different from other Key works, with the second point being my motivation since I never really liked Clannad in general. The common route had its funny moments, but due to its sheer length, it could get bland at times. The individual character routes were all good; with Lucia, Shizuru and Akane being my favorites. However, what really stood out for me was the Terra route. It shows you the true nature of Kotarou and what he really was like before the events in the common route. Everything in this route was in stark contrast to the happy go lucky atmosphere in the common route and made all the terrible things that happened in the character routes look like nothing. Battle scenes were not the best but you could still feel the tension. Deaths were aplenty which is really quite surprising, since most Key VNs do not deal with this. Thus, it felt more like a utsuge than a nakige to me. In a nutshell, it's the best Key vn I've played. I may not have played a lot of Key vns, but I am sure that this will continue to remain as my all-time Key favorite, even if I am to play more Key vns in the future. The fact that it was so different from other Key vns compelled me into playing it, and it did not disappoint.2 points

Royal Alchemist [GxB][BxB] [Fantasy Court Stats Raising] KICKSTARTER LIVE!
MaggieROBOT reacted to Demetis for a topic
Our Kickstarter campaign is LIVE! Tumblr | Twitter | Itch.io Fantasy | Royal Court | Stats Raising Royal Alchemist is a stats-raising Otome | BL RPG in a high-fantasy royal court setting. Keep the main characters alive through the story while improving their skills and craft various items, fulfill quests and advance the country’s development. The King was murdered. The assassins have not been found. And the threat of rebellion hangs over the land. With the succession thrown open and none of the three Royal Princes ready to take the throne, the King’s brother has assumed the Regency. Hoping to protect the nation and its people and help the rightful heir to the throne, the Regent has sought the help from the High Council, a neutral and influential faction of powerful magicians. The delegate it has sent, however, isn’t someone the Eskian aristocracy prefers, for more reasons than it seems. You are the scion of the ancient Rosenkreuz family, the High Council’s delegate and newly appointed Tutor to the Royal Princes. Can you navigate the maze of Eskian politics and guide the princes on the path of power? Or will you succumb to the murky intrigues of the court, and the ever-present danger of assassins? ♦ Male or female protagonist ♦ 3 dateable characters ♦ 2 stats raising systems ♦ Time management & quest system ♦ 10+ Endings ♦ ...and many deaths Download the Demo on itch.io! Download the Demo on Steam! The following is the progress for the demo. Writing: 100% Quests: 100% Sprites: 100% CGs: 80% Programming: 90% Screen Editing: 80% Audio: 90% This project is highly inspired by survival stats raiser such as Long Live The Queen or Princess Maker >w< Which means you will have to raise yours and your bachelor's stats and keep them alive! (Or try to, anyhow xD) It's been lurking in the background for a while, and it's the first VN I was able to work on with other people! Every feedback / suggestion will be really appreciated! >w< Otherwise here are a few questions for the demo! 1. How did you feel about the characters? Interesting? Likeable? Annoying? xD 2. Which character did you like the most? 3. Was the difficulty alright? Did you die at the end of the demo? 4. Anything you expect, plot-wise and gameplay-wise? 5. Any other comments / questions? How do you honestly feel about President Trump?

Emotionally unstable, egomaniac, con-artist, talented in nothing but marketing. Has no agenda and no values other than fueling his overblown ego and his pockets. People that support him are either cynical (not caring what his values are as long as he delivers on some core promises, such as cracking down on illegal immigration) or delusional (thinking that he cares about anything but himself and possibly his closest family and that his MAGA "ideology" is anything more than an empty slogan). He can make positive desitions when he thinks they will serve those interest, but egomaniacs are easily manipulated through flattery etc. And with more and more war hawks populating his cabinet I wonder whether even his positive role in Korea will last longer than a few weeks. If someone can ruin that peace process it's definitely Mark Pompeo as the Secretary of State. Also his economic policies are disastrous and their effects will haunt USA possibly for many decades, even if the next administration tries to clean it all up. Edit: Yup, this is all a horrible idea but I couldn't resist.1 point -

I'm nowhere close to finished, but I'm more than ready to say the translation is mediocre at best. Grammar errors, incorrect word usage, butchered idioms, dull writing, bad metaphors, wave dashes just literally everywhere, etc. My favorite (as in, the stupidest) line so far: "As they entered, another group of guys meandered in after them like white on rice." Ah, yes, notable meanderer, the white on rice. But I'm a salty loc hater, so you probably want the opinion of someone less picky.1 point -
Spring 2018 Anime Discussion
Plk_Lesiak reacted to Jun Inoue for a topic
It wasn't precisely deep, but I actually believed the characters it presented, and their problems and life, so the interactions and such in the restaurant were nice to watch, apart from entertaining. But with this anime... it feels kinda shallow. The characters are excuses to show a short scene with food and exaggerated reactions, and then perhaps the interesting part of the show: when it ends and we get 5 minutes of a dude teaching about Japanese cuisine.1 point -

For comedy manga, I simply love Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (4koma that pokes fun at shoujo manga tropes and clichés) and Grand Blue (more dumb but pokes fun at college life, no high school for once!). Not comedy, but Jojo can be quite fun too, in it's own bizarre shounen way. For anime, I recommend Carnival Phantasm (if you enjoyed Fate/Stay Night or if you just want to see those character acting full retard) and Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (anime about pretty much nothing, just teen boys being dumb, but holy shit it's so fun).1 point -

Oh, I agree about Terra. People often criticize it because it isn't very well connected to the rest of the VN, but you know, it's still a very good story by itself and it's a very fitting conclusion for the type of story Rewrite is. I generally like darker stories with good world-building with interesting "political" situations and good character development, and Romeo's routes, especially Terra, really shine in that. I'd love to reread Rewrite one day, but I'd rather wait for the retranslation to be released before that. Well, the thing about tsunredes is that this trope became way too overused recently and completely lost the appeal it originally had. Tohsaka is different because her tsundere attitude actually makes sense, and I never felt like she was too cold towards Shirou. I like characters like that.1 point

Lesbian Visibility Day rant
Chronopolis reacted to Funyarinpa for a blog entry
Well, the Visibility Day is made to actually humanize (and particularly for lesbians, de-fetishize) lesbians. It's both for lesbian people to express pride and acceptance of their identity (something especially young LGBT people need to see), as well as to show that LGBT people are not alien but belong amongst us.1 point -
That moment when you're reading a VN, and you go, DING, "that character sounds EXACTLY like another character I heard before!". And a quick check on VNDB confirms it. In this case, ef's Miyako and Grisaia's Amane are the same voice actress. And I'm thinking "why didn't I figure that out 10 hours ago!?". Also that moment when a character in a rather underrated VN (Torta in Symphonic Rain) ..... is also voicing two VERY well known characters (Clannad's Nagisa, and Higurashi's Rena). Heh1 point

Blame JAST for their old fashioned policy that they must release the VN together with hardcopy, and for not focusing much on the VN localization departement. Oh and for their far too many redundant announcement. Anyway congratulation for the 1000th post @Dreamysyu, and unfortunately I didn't have any good magical girl wallpaper here. The korean war is over.
Happiness+ reacted to Zander for a topic
Could you please reread what you just said and think about it for a short while? Ban political discussions? My American friend, free discussion is the cornerstone of your very own Bill of Rights. I live in the United States myself, and I don't have a problem with anything said here. "Bashing" is nothing more than opinionated criticism. If we don't voice our opinions or criticise those others put forward, how do we have a discussion about anything at all? I can understand you feeling slighted, but just as you said about NK, nobody is criticising Americans but their government. Their statements may be correct or incorrect, they may be grounded in facts or based on suspicion and personal bias, so just take it with a grain of salt and not personally. Also, always remember that the majority of people here are braindead memers and not political analysts.1 point -

mitchhamilton reacted to Erogamer for a topic
Can we please stop stop bashing other member's countries and presidents. Just because you have an opinion of a country does not mean that is actually what is going on. Even more so if you do not live in said country. Discussing the end of the Korean war is fine, but please stop the bashing of countries besides this one. Besides that, it is not North Korea's citizens itself that is the problem, but their tyrannical ruler. If this is how it is going to be, then I think political discussions should be banned from the forums. I am from the USA and I do not appreciate those bashing my country.1 point -

Oh dear that must've been painful... I'll just ask one thing - would you say Mask of Truth is better or worse than Mask of Deception? Ehhh it seems you'd be better off looking for something else, unless you're willing to give it a chance. This is pretty story-focused.1 point -

Contest | VN Couple | Won by @MaggieROBOT | Cardia + Van Helsing
MaggieROBOT reacted to arosia for a topic
I wanted to drop by and leave a quick update. When we set the contest up a month ago--over a month ago!--we were in a very different place. We were looking for some exposure, and some eyeballs, and we had a lot more free time. Since then, we've shifted the hook of our game from erotic/voiced to community-developed, and we're streaming (and creating) 9 hours a day, 7 days a week! Our poor artist, Ivy, has not had a lot of time to breathe, so it's been challenging to find time to draw this out. I spoke with her this morning, and we settled on putting some time aside each day after stream so she can get this done. You can expect your prize by May 5th at the latest, @MaggieROBOT; it'll probably be a day or two earlier, even. Thanks for being so patient with us, and so much love to you all!1 point -
The korean war is over.
Kenshin_sama reacted to Clephas for a topic
I'd like to see this be a real end for the troubles on the Korean Peninsula... but the likelihood of this being a permanent solution is very, very low. Part of this is that NK can't afford for peace to visibly break out. It is only the existence of the 'virtual enemies' (the US and their Southern neighbors) that has allowed the regime to hold onto power for so long. As such, cynic that I am, I'm suspicious that he might just be using this to give him a chance to rebuild while immediately going back to his old policies the first chance he gets... Realistically, NK has to find a way to stabilize its food and fuel situations, above all other things. This provides an opportunity to do so, and if sanctions cease, they will also have a chance to legitimately obtain technologies that might allow them to make strides toward resolving those problems in the long term, as well as the short term. Unfortunately, it is questionable whether the regime will have the patience to take the long view on things, and their stated goal of 'reuniting the homeland' has not been officially set to the wayside, despite the talks. Another issue is that I honestly can't see Trump keeping his mouth shut. He is constitutionally incapable of not claiming credit for anything positive and spreading blame for anything negative. He is also incapable of just being quiet for long, in general. If he leaves it to his Secretary of State (the new one), there might be real progress to repairing (or just building) the US as well as SK relations with NK. The likelihood of that is abysmally low, however. As for issues with Japan... while the Imperial Household itself has a stated (indirectly and in a generalistic fashion, as has become traditional since WWII) aversion to historical revisionism, the government and society in general isn't. Nationalism and historical ignorance are on the rise in Japan, and the current leadership are sadly very much in line with that trend (probably because they've gone through so much effort to create it). While we can depend on Japan's government to want the US presence there as a shield for the foreseeable future, if SK agrees to throw out the US presence (something a surprising number of citizens want), you could see things become a lot more unstable there rather quickly. Worse, China might decide to take drastic measures in order to reduce the US presence on the mainland of Asia (to be specific, they might encourage territorial ambitions from NK if the US withdrew from SK). In other words, peace on the peninsula is a potential powder keg for the region... at least, that's how I see it.1 point -

Until 1998, I was mostly an action and fantasy anime fan, ignoring slice of life entirely... then I came across Ai Yori Aoshi, and for the first time, I found myself weeping for the characters. I was addicted to the anime based off of Key games for the longest time, and I can still make myself cry by remembering 'I can make this the goal, can't I?' from Misuzu in the Air anime...0 points
