"you can see our improvement in Fox Hime Zero" As a man of God, I believe in forgiveness and second chances for all, and thus I have purchased Fox Hime Zero. I will report back in 1.99 hours to evaluate their claim EDIT: Well, I can confirm they have improved, but that's not really saying much. Even the first line of the VN has a goof Apparently, our dear protagonist Yan has some cannabis-related aspirations Additionally, 35 yuan is about 5 USD / EUR. I'm pretty sure this dude would barely be able to afford instant noodles let alone "live high" Here we have the first conversation in the game, where Yan comes across some "scholarly looking people" travelling to town. Also Yan's first conversation with a heroine, which was baffling to say the least I'm not sure why these scholarly looking people talk like middle-aged New Yorkers in a mid-life crisis. "I believe this is your tire..." "YO, there's our tire! What are you doing here, man?!" ??? Then there is garbled sentences that are just difficult to wrap your head around, or quasi-philosophical mumbo jumbo out of nowhere (which would be a ding against the VN, and not the translation to be fair, but it could definitely be more natural) So true! LOL! To be fair, this IS an improvement from their previous releases. It is often comprehensible. It is not, however, enjoyable nor easy to read. There's grammatical errors every other line and conversations are extremely unnatural. It's a shame, too, because even though I'm not interested in this furry stuff it seems like it could be a relaxing read. The art is pleasant to look at, the heroines have quality sprites with a range of animations, and the setting is serviceable. All this really needs is a proper editor. In any case, to return to topic at hand... Considering that SakuraGame is incapable of handling 10 minutes of a 6-hour long fluffy story where the protagonist hasn't even spoken to anyone yet without making a mockery of the English language, and that this is the VN they pointed to as proof of their improvement... I doubt Fortissimo FA will be any better4 points

Hi. After reading Kazoku Keikaku I was taken aback by poor editing of the later part of the game. Thinking about re-editing it into something more readable, I tried to extract the scripts from the game. Unfortunately I ran into the wall pretty quickly. The only tool that was able to do anything was ArcTools. It recognizes ISF files, has even built-in template for Family Project. Unfortunately it was only able to decompile dialogue lines, omitting everything else (narration, character names over spoken lines etc etc). It produced a bunch of files with content like this: :: word wrap line after, characters=50 :: - <7B79, 0006> "......"= - <8296, 0006> "Ai ya~"= - <8458, 0006> "..."= - <8948, 0006> "Hey, are you alive?"= - <89B2, 0006> "...mmm..."= - <8DA7, 0006> "Hey, what's wrong?"= - <8E89, 0006> "Are you okay? Can you get home by yourself?"= - <8F23, 0006> "..."= - <902D, 0006> "Ah..."= - <9109, 0006> "... Wo ... xiang yao ... yi bei ... shui."= - <923D, 0006> "Ai ya..."= - <92EF, 0006> "Hey."= - <94A9, 0006> "What happened?"= - <9A31, 0006> "Damn it."= - <9BC4, 0006> "But now isn't the time to be saying this."= Completely unusable. "AE VN Tools" is able only to extract files from main archive, but they stay in encoded form - its script module isn't working, so it cannot decompile scripts. On the AE page, I stumbled upon a pack of python scripts that are supposed to decompile and compile ISF scripts, and also convert them into Ren'py. Unfortunately - they crash d:\tools\isf_tools_20100606>isf_disasm.py snr00.isf >snr00.txt Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf_disasm.py", line 97, in <module> print isf_disasm(sys.argv[1]) File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf_disasm.py", line 76, in isf_disasm x = isf.decompile(buf) File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 589, in decompile return ast(ISF(), buf[len(j) * 4:], j) File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 580, in ast isf.ast += [[o] + params[o](p, (j, js))] File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 121, in p_onjp r += [(T_LABEL, ulabel(wd(p, i), jjs))] File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 65, in ulabel return js.index(j[l]) IndexError: list index out of range d:\tools\isf_tools_20100606>1 point

Hahahahaha. I really wonder how the voice recording sessions went, but it does go to show how well she can switch between them. I had no idea she did so many voices. The dynamic between Sasami and Rin is really excellent, too, with Sasami being all prim and cultured (and doing the OHOHO laugh even :D) and Rin constantly butchering her name and not caring at all :D. Wow, that is a lot of responses, thanks for the information people! Sorry for the late reply, my tactic to get this game finished is to leave it on at all times on my laptop, so that it is open when I open it =/. I have finished Sumika route, and well, yea I though it was a bit silly on the whole, but oh well. I actually did like Meiya less, I kind of hate the whole Anyway, going to do Ayamine + Meiya and move on to Unlimited. Might do the teacher route in extra for the lols. Might update this thread with some thoughts at times.1 point -

The license rights may or may not be transferable. If SakuraGame were to dissolve, their license rights could very well just vanish. It depends on the contract. You'd have to ask someone who's worked at multiple localization companies and been involved in licensing.1 point -

I got really into Flowers and I'm now through Summer and Autumn. After the slight mess that was Spring, I can happily say that Summer and Autumn are huge improvements and the series itself is honestly really great. Just about everything is noticeable improved going from Spring to Summer. Spring was in the hard place of building the whole setting for the latter volumes, but Innocent Grey really learned from the experience and it shows. I'm really glad I decided to continue with series. Flowers -Le Volume sur Été- or Summer is, as fitting for the season, a warm and sunny story. Focus is on the budding relationship between Yaegaki and a new student Takasaki Chidori, and everything is built around this. Chapters are less numerous, but more substantial this time and there's some quite excellent high-points even in the middle of the story, as the main pairs relationship grows through shared experiences. And a no small part of Summer greatness must also be attributed to Yaegaki's character, which is frankly quite amazing in many ways. Not only is she a really good portrayal of a disabled person in general, but also a quite rare example of a character that is very much in terms with herself. Unlike one would expect or how normally these types of stories tend go, Yaegaki has suffered her existential crisis long before the events of the game. She knows her flaws and how she has to rely on others because of her disability. Because of this rather than just Yaegaki herself growing as a character she's more there to help others grow. A nice kind of supportive protagonist! Not to mention her lovable sassy and cat-like personality, which creates some amazing interactions with other characters. Her way of thinking also shows nicely in the mystery sections as well, since compared to the "Classical detective" of Souh, Yaegaki's approach is more of a post-modern. I would honestly consider her as one of my favourite protagonists. So yeah, for those looking forward the English release, be happy because Flowers Summer is honestly great VN! Just hoping the translation and the general quality of the release won't be as lackluster as in Spring... Flowers deserves more than that. Flowers -Le Volume sur Automne- Autumn, featuring everyone's favorite aloof senpai, Yatsushiro Yuzuriha, is in good contrast to Summer very melancholic. Yuzuriha is actually the most sentimental of the protagonist in the series so far, and her worries and uncertainties pour over to the narration creating a somber and somehow refined atmosphere. The fantastic piano soundtrack does wonders as well. Flowers being a mostly character focused series means Yuzuriha's character and development is what carries the story, and that it does really well, as Yuzuriha turned out to be even better character than I hoped. Struggling between the expectations of others and her inner-self, a good part of the game is spend in Yuzuriha's head. Acting strong to hide own weakness and playing around to escape from worries. The gap between how she behaves and what she really feels is almost painful sometimes, partly because it's so relatable. The story about Yuzuriha's complicated relationship with Nerine and their past is touching, and I really enjoyed their bittersweet tale. Next, Winter! I have high hopes for you!1 point -

I don't see in which way would it be easier. The amount of the operations needed stays the same. In the meantime (thanks to the power of HEX search in Total Commander ), I determined which character appears in which script, and made nice chart for it Total amount of extraction operations that have to be manually invoked from ArcTool is 355 (dialogues) + 28 (narration) + 12 (choices) = 395 EDIT make that 384 (344+28+12) - I set bad ranges for "X" counting1 point

Look at him covering all the bases. Given the colours here and the fact that the page refers to 'three girls' and a 'trio of romances', I am inclined to believe the story will follow three girls' romances, and does not suggest they'll get together. As such, I find heterosexual relationships more likely in this instance.1 point -

He was basically the person behind my YouTube addiction, I've watched his stuff regularly for years and I still remember how the news about his desease hit me. People mostly found this weird, how much I cared about an online celebrity, but when you hear that person's voice nearly every day and rely on them for information and entertainment like I did, it all feels very personal. I've expected this news for some time, especially after the latest update that his treatment has ended, but damn this still sucks. Such a young guy, so much talent and potential. He'll be missed. Now that I have confirmation from Dergonu that the game he was playing is not VN of the Month quality (he has stalled on it), I will move on to finally announcing VN of the Month for March and April. March March was a decent month, since it had three potential candidates for VN of the Month. Those candidates are: Butterfly Seeker AI Love Unjou no Fairy Tale Now, despite my rating of it, I'm going to go ahead and disqualify AI Love. Why? Because it is essentially a borderline nukige. It made its way onto my Chicken Soup for the Soul list, but, as I've stated in the past, that isn't necessarily an indication of kamige status. Rather, it is an indication of how good the game is at soothing and relieving non-violent stress. So, this comes down to Unjou no Fairy Tale versus Butterfly Seeker. Based purely on my personal tastes, I'd probably go for Unjou no Fairy Tale, since I'm an admitted fantasy addict... but in the end, I had to (reluctantly) admit that Butterfly Seeker was the better VN. The depth of the story, the characters, and even just the details of the important events was such that I couldn't honestly give Unjou no Fairy Tale the victory for VN of the Month, March 2018. My reasons for excluding Etatoto from the final running are... that fun2novel's own review and private comments didn't leave me with the impression of VN of the Month quality. Worth reading for a certain portion of the community? Yes. Worthy of being recommended on a larger scale... no. April Having dropped Taiju for the moment (SofthouseChara's newest SLG), I was left with only one viable candidate for April... Yuusha to Maou, to Majo no Cafe. This is perhaps the weakest VN of the Month candidate I've put up in quite some time, but it still easily won over Kari Gurashi Ren'ai, which is the only other game that hit my baseline standard. Naming it as VN of the Month, April 2018 actually troubles me a bit... given a choice, I wish that Unjou or AI Love had been released in April so I'd have a better candidate. I almost decided not to name one for this month, but I reluctantly decided that it meets standards.1 point

Fortissimo FA to be "Translated" to English by SakuraGame
Plk_Lesiak reacted to Yoxall for a topic
*Inserts sad Vader noises* Yep, my worst fears as a Fortissimo fan has come true. Why didn't they just stick to their dirt cheap nukiges? Normally I wouldn't give a shit about SakuraGame, but I just happened to browse Fortissimo's VNDB page earlier this week and saw that it had both a Chinese and English release coming soon. Checked who was working on it and it just had to be the worst company in existence. To make things worse, they already set up a Steam page for it with the synopsis being heavily machine translated (even getting the main heroine's name wrong). And for some reason, they suddenly decided to create another group called Yamayuri Games to "translate" any Circus (or any of its subsidiaries like La'cryma) visual novels Mangagamer hasn't taken yet. So far, Fortissimo and Eternal Fantasy have been hit with the plague. Thoughts? I had a good laugh at their response though. Idk what an 'acquate' English translation looks like, but it's definitely far from accurate. Apparently, they made their announcement on Twitter last week:0 points -

The Cynical Brit, TotalBiscuit, John Bain. 4 years he fought hard against cancer and unfortunately lost that fight. His video game reviews are portrayed as very objective, giving the viewers the facts and quick rundown of various games. So objective that he refused to release a review of a game after a short twitter fight with one of the devs as people may view his negative critiques on the game as just personal bashing. He retired from totalbiscuit on April 30th after treatment for his cancer had made it too difficult for him to think clearly.
