Plk_Lesiak’s Shovelware Adventures: Silver Cow Studios’ Ecchi VNs (non-Time Tenshi edition)
Templarseeker and one other reacted to Plk_Lesiak for a blog entry
While Time Tenshi, which I covered two weeks ago, is definitely the flagship franchise for Silver Cow Studios, the company never settled for only producing new iterations of their breast-expansion/time-travel formula, releasing two other ecchi VNs since their debut in 2015. Those games, while they didn’t abandon the giant boobs and over-the-top storytelling that could be considered Silver Cow’s staple, offered their own twists to the fanservice-filled and trashy, but hentai-free format. The first one, Burokku Girls, appeared just three months after the first Time Tenshi game and… The lack of reasonable development time definitely showed, in a few ways. The second, Battleship Bishojo came out in early 2017, after Time Tenshi 2’s Special Edition and proved that the devs had their formula figured out much better by this point in time. Still, what exactly are these games about, besides exclusively-kyonyuu heroines and are they as good serviceable as Time Tenshi proved to be? Burokku Girls Burokku Girls (the first part of the title apparently represents the Japanese pronunciation of the word „block”) is quite possibly the most bizarre VN I’ve seen since Legends of Talia: Arcadia. Although it’s not as devoid of humour as the Winged Cloud’s unfortunate “dark fantasy adventure”, it still manages to mix incredibly trashy fanservice and character designs with a rather grimdark story about a last bastion of light in the world besieged by darkness – a conflict so hopeless that the people of the last town standing are pretty much just waiting for their final battle and inevitable demise. Our generic protagonist enters this world-ending scenario through a full-immersion VN machine, constructed by his father. The virtual reality set goes haywire in an inexplicable way and transports him to a reality built with the titular Blocks – voxel-like elements, which were used in past immemorial to create an artificial paradise for people to live in, but was since invaded by the “Underworlders”, exiles trapped in the dark chasms beneath the “Overworld” and sealed away with the Blocks. Which VNs have you legally bought in some way?

My problem : I love controversial games/VNs (for example, I own a collection of shitty RPGs. Like Legend of Foresia or Eternal Quest). One day my curiosity will kill me2 points -
So, I finally started this beautiful thing. Well, technically I already read the prologue once when it just came out, but it doesn't count as I was only checking that everything works and wasn't going to actually read it. My first impression - it's epic, bring me more!2 points

What are you playing?

5. Bad End, ~2 hours long, about a visual novel that kills players who reach a bad end. It's a bit silly at times, and the translation is clunky, but not the worst way I've spent two hours. 6. We Know the Devil, ~1½ hours long, about three teenagers at a Christian summer camp who are sent to a cabin overnight to fight off the devil. The catch? With each choice, you pick two characters to pair together, and one to be left out. There is a true ending, but that's its own flavor of creepy. I'm impressed by how the writing manages to pull off both "down-to-earth" and "surreal," along with the unique aesthetic.1 point -

You can try to make Cocoro Function more family friendly, but the story won’t have the same feeling as the original. I’m currently running a LP of that game.1 point -

It looks like Ms. vampire who lives in my neighbourhood/Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san is also a yuri. It's a 4-koma adaptation, so I'd expect more random jokes than any kind of romance, but it definitely goes on my to-watch list (will probably give it a try tomorrow and share my impressions). Along with the Zombieland Saga because that one just looks too weird to not give it a try. EDIT: Oh and it seems that Xuan Yuan Sword Luminary will be this season's epic trainwreck, so this goes on my Crunchyroll quoue as well. That's decent enough lineup, I guess? Won't have too few things to watch after all. :31 point -

And here I was actually hoping for a family friendly version of Cocoro@Function.1 point -
Absolutely, but then the japanese have a bad sense of tact and delicacy. Goes from cute girls and romance to "omanko kimochiii", "ochinchin sugoooiii" etcetc. Even i think the h scenes can be a bit or way too much. The example i gave is what i'd really prefer.1 point

Its 17+ why does it have to be so vaguely implied? A scene with them undressed under the bedsheets etc is a powerful enough scene and not porn, so it should be more than fine.1 point

Hatsukoi 1/1 Translation
adamstan reacted to littleshogun for a topic
Maya was quite overpowered considering that she was won easily in the poll, both as best heroine and best route. As for the ending, just in case you worry about the depressing story you didn't need about Maya's route, because it'll end happily for both of them (Some divisive route at HatsuKoi aside). As for Maya, all Yuuma did was encouraged Maya to go chase her happiness so there's nothing about selling out here. Well have fun with HatsuKoi there.1 point -

Confession : YES, I'm a Hardcore collector (same problem with the RPGs). I swear on my honor: everything was obtained (bought, most of the times) legally = Gift/Bundle Physical (Mostly EU/PAL) DMM/DLSite/Japanese Only Digital MangaGamer (Digital) Jast USA (Digital) DenpaSoft (Digital) Nutaku FAKKU NekoNyan Steam GOG Nintendo eShop (EU Only) PlayStation Store (EU Only) iOS/Android1 point -
I finished Umineko's 2nd episode with its respective Tea Party. This game is such troll and addictive af. Ok let the rant start. Perhaps for those who have already read it it's not that interesting reading the nonsensical theories of someone new to Umineko, but oh well, at the very least it'll help me put my thoughts in order1 point

I'm not huge on horror (especially the type that involves jumpscares), but here are a few free horror EVNs I enjoyed: Black Lake of Voices (you know it's not a happy story when "Death of Hero" and "Death of Heroine" aren't spoilers) Lynne Upon a Darkening Flood Vicarwissen What's Your Name? Not horror but still appropriate for the season: Speed Dating for Ghosts Looking at my backlog, I can try to get through at least some of these: BAD END Cupid The Devil's Gospel Disturbed Entschuldigung The Hungry House Lemures Blue's 2 A.M.
