  1. It's been too long since my last update, but quite a lot has happened! 1. SpookySaint joined the project as an editor. 2. Senpai Ken and Spirited Away joined the project as translator and editor respectively. Senpai Ken has decided to translate Keika's route, so we'll be working in parallel on different routes. I'd like to also thank Fiddle for providing the first ~25% of Keika's route that was done several years ago for a now dead translation project Project Status: (Counting lines to find a percentage was a bit more trouble than it was worth. The below should still be an adequate estimate) Common Route translation: 100% Common Route editing: 1/6 scenario files Maiya Route translation: 5/23 Maiya Route editing: pending Keika Route translation: 6/21 Keika Route editing: pending

Original Post ↓ Hello. I've decided to translate Saimin Yuugi, my favorite eroge. Well written hypnosis with Sayori's art? Holy shit, yes please. Really, nothing else compares. Now, I'm a solo, amateur translator, and I acknowledge we're an inherently unreliable lot. With that being said, I wouldn't be making this thread unless I was committed to finishing. Why make this thread? 1) On the off chance someone else is interested in translating, I'd love to have your help. No long-term commitment necessary. 2) If anyone is interested in editing my translated scripts (checking my grammar and watching for awkward descriptions or stilted dialogue), I'd love to have you. Also no long-term commitment necessary. 3) On the off off chance someone else was partway through translating this eight year old eroge, I may as well find out about it now before sinking too much more time into this. In short, I love this game and am asking for help to make the translation the best it can be. What have I already done? - Unpacking and repacking the game files is confirmed working with a partial patch tested both on my machine and others. - Maiya's route is 17% translated, which includes an introduction common to all routes. Not a lot, but it's only a week's worth of effort. I'm confident that this pace will let me finish without burning out. On that note however, my main goal for this project is the translation of Maiya's route. I think the completionist in me will make sure I see the project through to the end, but I expect significantly slower progress on the other routes. Especially Keika's. If you have questions feel free to ask.

So I finished MYTH a few days ago. It's kind of hard to talk about since it's one of those VNs that don't really lend themselves to being discussed in terms of superficial production values or plot consistency, kind of like SubaHibi or The Silver Case. Personally I think I liked it despite still not being able to pinpoint what it actually wants to tell its audience. I'll probably need to read it again at some point to get a better understanding.

I just read piano scene in ATRI. Since I'm a keyboardist too, it was especially moving for me.

  6. Thanks for for supporting my work...it means a lot. :-) And you're very welcome...I'm an indie artist, too, so I know how challenging it is working with very limited budgets...especially when I make my films. I sincerely hope some of my work is helpful to the community! It’s been a very busy week, but I did get a few new tracks done for everyone. You’ll find them all on my Sci-Fi 9 page: ROBO BOSS BATTLE – (Looping) GRUNGE STREET – (Looping) MOONLIT CYBER ALLEYS – (Looping) https://soundimage.org/sci-fi-9/ Enjoy…and please stay safe (and healthy.)

On a more positive note, the translation seems solid. The phrasing might come off as a bit overly extravagant at times, but it suits the mood of the game.

I had no issues whatsoever with Nanairo Reincarnation from what I can remember, so this must be a screw-up from either the developer or the coders in the localization team then. I could accept stuff like this if I was trying to run a VN from the 90's on a modern system, but for one released in 2020, not so much.

I'm tempted to try Asta's earliest VN - Natsu no Ame next. (I was lucky to score physical edition from Amazon for a great price.) (I'm not clicking that ATRI spoiler yet, until I get to the ending too)

  10. https://j-addicts.de/master-magistrate/ After a couple months of wait, the full version of Master Magistrate was released! This review is an update of my early-access review. I removed or corrected outdated information, polished my thoughts a little and added my thoughts on the final chapter and the epilogue. Master Magistrate is a pretty cool murder mystery detective visual novel with a historical setting. You'd be hard pressed to find something quite like it, the closest would probably be Great Ace Attorney or Elf's Mikagura Shoujo Tanteidan. Overall, it has a bit of a weak start with its introductory chapter, with the pacing picking up on the second one. Third chapter is hands down the best for me, in terms of gameplay, plot and character development and the last chapter makes for a great finale, tying perfectly all the loose ends and expertly resolving all of the unsolved mysteries. Exciting revelations and myriads of twists await you. And if you're a fan of the more SoL parts, the heroine routes are nicely integrated in alternate epilogues for the story. There's porn too (it's optional, just buy/don't buy the Adult DLC).

  11. Yeah... (Yumemi... ) but OTOH, To Heart's Multi, one of the first famous moe robot heroines, got her happy ending, so there's still some hope, right? Also, according to that walkthrough, True End is continuation of good ending, whatever it is. But then, even though I still have long way to go, I wouldn't be very surprised, if final pairing turned out to be Natsuki x Minamo.

  12. I'm not sure if you're referring to the sea levels rising, details about diving or something else, but none of that stuff really bothered me. I can imagine it might if you were hoping for something completely realistic, but that wasn't really my expectation in the first place so it hasn't affected my opinion in a bad way. If anything, I actually enjoy the writing in ATRI a lot and the translation feels very vivid and fluent. (especially compared to something like Forgotten Trace: Thanatos in Nostalgia, which just released) I saw the bad ending yesterday and have been playing a couple of hours more since then. I thought I was on track to the true ending now, but I guess I'll need to view another one before unlocking that then. In any case, I hope it ends on a positive note, but I know how these stories about robots tend to go so my mind is kinda getting prepared for having its hopes crushed.

  13. According to the walkthrough there are two endings - good and bad, and after completing both, True Ending is unlocked in the main menu. Do you mean that the setting (sea level constantly rising without any apparent reason) lacks proper scientific explanation? I think I had my expectations set differently, since, because of ATRI herself (extremely lifelike robot girl) I already treated the whole thing not as Sci-Fi, but as some kind of fairytale, so it doesn't bother me. And when treated like that, it is very enjoyable, at least for me. Also, remembering previous Asta's works I've read (IMHHW, ASFOS and Adventure of a Lifetime) - this VN is in line with those, it's "typical Asta". And he seems to reuse many tropes from his previous works. So if someone dislikes his writing, then they won't enjoy ATRI, and vice versa.

  14. Yeah, I'm reading it, and I think I'm nearing the end now and expect to be done pretty shortly. Great read so far, and yes, while I haven't compared it to the original Japanese, the English translation is definitely solid, although it contains a ton of typos and misplaced words (to the point where I'm questioning if the script was proofread at all).

  15. This topic is unusually quiet for a new VN. Is anyone else reading this? Yesterday I reached the point where The previous arc, with This VN has potential to be good nakige, at least for me - it has some good comedic moments, and at the same time, it's pretty good at tugging at my heartstrings. ATRI is lovely, I also really like supporting cast. Ririka, Ryuuji, Minamo, hell, even Catherine I don't know how much of the story is left there, but I assume that quite a bit, since I haven't even reached second choice point yet (out of supposedly three, according to walkthroughs). Since I'm reading untranslated, it's of course slower - I now have ~12 hours on the clock, so perhaps I'd have already finished the English version. But that's not bad - that way I can stay in this world for a bit longer So far I'm really loving it. If they don't fuck it up in some major way in the remaining part of the story, it will deinitely be one of the higher-ranked VNs in my list Also, to clarify my point on the translation from the previous post - it's liberal, but that doesn't mean it's bad. From what I have seen, it's actually pretty good. @alwayslonesome on r/vn expressed it nicely: It makes me want to reread the VN in English after completing it in JP.

  16. I absolutely loathe the variation where the protagonist ends up spending the entire game as a coach without ever really getting back on his feet. What's the point of a recovery that isn't a recovery? It's one of the three reasons I hate Aokana (along with the protagonist's reason for quitting being pathetic and all but one of the heroines being boring). It's one thing to find another way in life, but in that case, I want them to make a complete severing from the activity entirely. I don't want to see an entire route where he keeps looking back on the good 'ol days and wondering about what-ifs. About the only VNs that use this trope well are Walkure Romanze and Fake Azure Arcology (where the protagonist actually has a huge heap of traumas that make it feel real). Edit: Oh, the protag of Kizuna Kirameku Koi Iroha is really solidly behind his own decision to give up competing. It was a decision he made for the right reasons and is mostly at peace with. However, it isn't quite the same thing, lol.
