  1. ef is an objectively good visual novel that is written well that feels like it has a point even to its most plodding sections. It is a mostly serious story of imperfect people making imperfect decisions based on imperfect information. It has a few standout sections, but also has a few weak sections. The music in particular is outstanding. Reading it is an experience that feels unique, but I struggle to say it was very enjoyable or provided a lessen or food for thought. This will be completely spoiler free, so there will be some parts of the story or bits I outright don't mention, and that is on purpose, otherwise the few spoilers will be marked. The writing is solid throughout, and I'd like to call particular attention to the slow slice of life moments, since they did not feel like they were there just to be filler, but rather to give background and - at times - levity to what is largely written as a serious story. These moments ground the reader in a sense that these are real people living real lives rather than simple characters in a story. I especially appreciate that these people are not perfect, they make dumb mistakes. The younger characters in particular make decisions you often would see or may have made yourself when you were younger. Chapters 1 and 2 in particular (Miyako's and Kei's stories) are ones I particularly enjoyed. There are some stereotypes in these two chapters, particularly surrounding Kei being childishly violent with that being played for laughs, that will not click with everyone though. Chapters 3, 4, and final chapter felt like a tonal shift, so it was clear there was a different writer handling most of it. I'm sure some people would prefer those chapters more, but I found them to be somewhat melodramatic at times and at odds with how grounded the first two chapters were. These were no longer normal, imperfect people dealing with relatable situations, but stereotypical dramatic story beats that were foreshadowed a ridiculous amount of time in advance, to the detriment of the story itself. One part I find incredibly odd is The music in ef is absolutely amazing. Every BGM track adds to the scenes, and I can't overstate how important good BGM is to a visual novel. I had no issues running the game in a modern Windows 11 system. It has high production values, including a lot of backgrounds, sprite variations, lip sync, and sprites that are actually placed in the backgrounds at various depths so you can "see them moving" in the environment. There's even walking scenes where they move around as if they're actually walking next to the person. In particular I was incredibly impressed by the camera scenes where you can see the camera counter counting up in real time as you read. Overall, ef is an objectively good visual novel. But it isn't perfect, and it may not be enjoyable for everyone. If you're in the mood for a serious dramatic story, I'd say give it a try. At least read the first tale and know that the latter tale gets more serious and dramatic than that.

  2. In 2022, the pandemic was starting to subside, so after two years of absence, we finally had conventions with several new VNs translation announcements. Of course, we still have translated VN releases, so I'll list the best-rated translated VNs in 2022. Once again, I may be subjective, so I'm sorry if some of your favorite VNs are not here, and feel free to disagree with my choice. Anyway, let's see the best translated VNs in 2022 that I chose here, and of course, the rank and the score can change in the future. For the scores, I'll use today's (June 2nd, 2025) scores for each VN. 10. Evenicle 2 (VNDB 7.35) There's a drama behind the Evenicle 2 release because of the censorship on the trial version that removes the first sex scene. The censorship is not much help to add this on Steam anyway, thanks to a random ban from Valve. For the game, I thought it was an unnecessary sequel at first. However, after I played the trial, I found myself liking this. Of course, most people would understandably see this as inferior compared to the prequel, especially with no changes in the gameplay besides the healing system and skill gain, which are not much better than the prequel. For the premise, Alex, an apprentice doctor in a world with a deadly pandemic, heard the news of a beautiful girl getting sick. Because he's as pervert as Aster (the prequel MC), Alex starts to examine the patient, which leads him to discover that he can cure the beautiful female patient through sexual intercourse thanks to his hidden ability (I'm not making up the premise). After seeing the effect of the treatment, Alex concluded that his ability might be the key to eradicating the pandemic. Then he went to get his doctor's license, and while on the trip, he found himself treating several more beautiful female patients. 9. Ouchi ni Kaeru made ga Mashimaro Desu (VNDB 7.41) After Shiravune localized both Primal Hearts and Study Steady, they went to localized one more VN from Marmalade, Mashimaro (localized as Marshmallow All the Way Home), so currently, we have four VNs from Marmalade (including Primal Hearts 2) translated by Shiravune. In Mashimaro, our MC, Ryou, becomes homeless after being chased out of his former house and forced to sleep in the park. One day, he met with a friendly, beautiful girl who fed him sweets and then introduced herself as Kanon. Being grateful, Ryou followed Kanon to her bakery, Marshmallow Tree, which was almost out of business because of a change in the opening hour and the arrival of a famous competitor nearby. As the responsible person, Ryou returned the favor by helping Kanon revitalize Marshmallow Tree by working as a part-timer there. It turned out that he was pretty competent, so he managed to make Marshmallow Tree successful quickly. Even though Kanon is the apparent main heroine (as shown in the beginning), Ryou can date another girl besides her. While Mashimaro here has a sweet and lighthearted story, it also has several lengthy sex scenes in the heroine's routes. 8. Otome * Domain (VNDB 7.43) Shiravune manages to localize the Otome Domain, in that it's one of the known trap VN besides Otoboku and Tsuki no Yorisou. By the way, I added this based on my interest in the VN with trap MC. While the VNDB lists the connection with Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Akuma (Koikuma), it's only for the trial version. But, since the heroines are the same as in Koikuma for being useless, we may call this Koikuma with the young ladies. In Otome Domain, we have the MC, Minato, who recently lost his grandmother, leaving him alone. At the funeral, a young lady, Kazari, offers Minato to take care of his needs. Said offer included enrolling Minato into the school that Kazari runs as the board chairwoman. However, Minato must cross-dress as a girl since the school is an all-girls school, and he manages to look as good as a girl, much to his dismay. After coming into the school, Minato finds out that Kazari has some quirk that makes her useless, and his dormmates also have some quirks that make them problematic. Having no choice, Minato decides to take care of their problem, which makes him ironically more feminine than the girls who enrolled in the school. 7. Cafe Stella to Shinigami no Chou (VNDB 7.54) Yuzusoft finally decided to make a VN revolve around a cafe after featuring it several times in their previous VNs with Cafe Stella. When Cafe Stella was about to be released in Japan, Yuzusoft provided several 4-Koma videos featuring each heroine (including the side one). Said videos have English captions, which should indicate that Cafe Stella will be localized. Sure enough, Nekonyan announced they'd localize Cafe Stella in 2020 before finally releasing it in March 2022 as the 5th officially translated Yuzusoft VN (which includes Parquet, even though it is just the experimental work). For the premise, we have our MC Kousei encounter a cute grim reaper, Kanna, after he somehow turned back into the past because of an accident that supposedly killed him, and Kanna tells Kousei that he's still not free from his grim fate yet. So Kousei decided to accept Kanna's offer to help her, as he had worked with Kanna to open the titular Cafe Stella. The story of Cafe Stella combines the supernatural (Kanna and her grim reaper work) and slice-of-life (obviously the cafe). Lastly, I can say that the waitress uniform looks nice, with the color scheme resembling the waitress uniform in Blend S. 6. Hello Lady (VNDB 7.55) I admit that my initial interest in Hello Lady was because of the VAs, of which two, Eri Sendai and Yamamura Hibiku, were voicing Precure. Even without looking at those VAs, the VN is already well known. Many people wish to have this VN translated, although no company was willing to get the license until Nekonyan announced this in 2018. Afterward, it took more than 40 months before the release because the developer, Akatsuki Works, needed time to develop the engine for the complete edition (which includes the FD and an additional ending from the PSV version). After a long wait, we have Hello Lady release in January 2022. For the premise, we have Narita, who has been invited to The Academy as a transfer student by the chairman, rescue the kidnapped student council president Saku while also deciding to be daring by grabbing Saku's breast. Of course, Saku was furious about that, especially with Narita joining the council. While initially Narita is presented as a breast lover, actually Narita himself has come to the school with his hidden goal in mind, and he may find himself finding out that there's something more regarding his said goal. 5. Amatsutsumi (VNDB 7.80) For some reason, Valve banned Amatsutsumi on Steam, thus making Sekai need to delay the release for a while before finally releasing it on the other platforms. While we can think of several reasons why Valve banned this, such as high school settings and the MC (Makoto) having sex with more than one girl, only Valve can answer that. In Amatsutsumi, we have Makoto, who lives in an isolated village and is already engaged. He wanted to set the journey to see the outside world because of his intense longing, so he started to do so. But then, he collapsed in the nearby town because he didn't prepare enough before leaving the village. After being saved by a passerby, Kokoro, Makoto uses his power to brainwash Kokoro through a word to make her think of Makoto as Kokoro's older brother. Then, Makoto decided to live with Kokoro's family as the first step to living as a regular human instead of someone with superpowers. Some days after, Makoto encounters a girl, Hotaru, who is immune to his power. After talking with Hotaru, Makoto promises to help the other by using his power. He will do so with all the heroines, who each have their circumstances. 4. Chaos Head Noah (VNDB 7.88) Technically, this is a redundant release because we already have the Chaos Head translation patch from 2009, and Noah is mostly the same. That said, the developer added some new content, such as routes and a new opening, so we can consider it a new release despite several problems with the English releases, such as the ban by Valve before it got revoked and a high number of bugs. This release is significant as Noah is the very first VN of the Science Adventure series, and with this, now we have all translated Science Adventure VN available on Steam. For the premise, we have our loser MC Nishijou Takumi, an otaku who rarely leaves his room on the rooftop except to go to school occasionally. One day, he heard a rumor that a serial murder had happened around his premises in Shibuya. Since Nitroplus developed the original Chaos Head, the murders were very disturbing. After somehow stumbling upon one of the serial murder sites, Takumi encounters a cute girl with a lot of blood on her body, and naturally, he's frightened. After that, one way or another, Takumi finds himself dragged into the middle of the serial murder case, which forces him to find a way to survive the ordeal. 3. Tokeijikake no Ley Line -Asagiri ni Chiru Hana- (VNDB 8.15) Compared to the 51-month gap between the Tokeijikake trilogy's first and second part releases, the second and last part releases are only eight months apart. It helps that Sekai and the developer had already ironed out the buggy engine by the time the second part was available in March 2022, so they didn't need to wait too long to release the whole trilogy. As for the premise of the entire trilogy, it started with our MC Koga attending the mysterious magical school located in a remote area. Sometime after entering the school, Koga accidentally breaks a quite expensive statue. Unfortunately, Koga has no money to compensate for it. To have Koga take responsibility for the broken statue, the principal paired him with the head of the Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs, Ushio (the main heroine of the Tokeijikake trilogy). Said Bureau is responsible for investigating magic-related incidents in the school, and eventually, the Bureau would investigate the massive incident in the last part. Since both Koga and Ushio here are pretty stubborn, the meeting between those two ended in bad blood. Of course, both of them would develop their relationship throughout the trilogy. 2. Hakuchuumu no Aojashin (VNDB 8.52) Around the time when the English version of Aojashin was released, several headache-inducing shenanigans happened. Those shenanigans are the writer's "smooth" way of addressing the censorship critic, the license problem for another Laplacian VN, and the setting change for the high school student heroine into a college student. While the English version here obviously didn't have 18+ contents because of the censorship, thankfully, a fan team worked hard to restore the removed contents and revert the change for the school student heroine. In Aojashin, we have a combination of Fata Morgana and Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V. The latter is because Laplacian used their previous VNs setting into Aojashin here, and ARC V did the same. Story-wise, it's closer to Fata Morgana because it and Aojashin have three initial stories/cases that converge into one main arc. Other similarities are that both have white-haired girls involved in the story, and that's where the similarities end. Unlike in Fata Morgana, where you start from the first story, in Aojashin, you'll randomly start in one of three initial cases. For the video, I'll use the Case 0 opening because Case 0 is the main arc of Aojashin itself. 1. Mahoutsukai no Yoru (VNDB 8.64) After watching Evangelion, a man was getting inspiration to write a novel. However, the publisher rejected the novel because of its length. Some years later, after the man had been successful with Fate/Stay Night, he revisited his old novel. Yes, that man is Kinoko Nasu, and his old novel is Mahoyo with the full title Mahoutsukai no Yoru (literally translated as "A Magician's Night"). For the premise, we have Aoko (who, as we know, is Shiki's teacher in Tsukihime) suddenly chosen to become the head of a magician family, so naturally, she's underprepared. To prepare herself, she lives with the young witch Alice in her mansion to get some magic lessons. After some time, Aoko's classmate, Soujuurou, witnesses the duo using magic. Seeing no other choice, they force Soujuurou to live in the mansion. While the premise sounds like a slice-of-life story (and to be fair, it is), being a Type-Moon VN, there will be some battles with beautiful effects. Initially, Nasu planned Mahoyo to be the trilogy. But seeing that Nasu is still busy with FGO and promised to work on the sequels after he finishes with the Tsukihime remake (which only has the first half released in August 2021), it better not expect the sequels to be released soon. Overall, 2022 still has some good releases, even though they're not as big as 2021. That said, I felt that some of the exciting releases concentrated on the fan discs, which, while it's not bad per se, I would prefer to see more exciting releases for the main title here. Anyway, now that we're in 2023 here, I hope we see more nice releases, especially from Nekonyan. Of course, I still want to see if JAST can keep their release pace, even with them sometimes releasing the Remaster of their old VNs. Lastly, while I don't know if I can look forward to Mangagamer and Sekai's new title, I hope they can release some interesting VNs. PS - Since we have William Shakespeare in Aojashin, I allude to his play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, by changing "Night's Dream" into "Magician's Night" (because Mahoyo release), so we have "A Midsummer Magician's Night" as the title.

  3. This is a condensed version of the full article which can be found on my Main Blog Here. The Magic Of Buttons One of the most underappreciated areas in a visual novel is the work which goes into its UI design. An ideal UI will never draw attention to itself and become a natural extension of the player’s engagement with the game. This is not an easy thing to achieve since a balance has to be struck between its presence on screen, its ease of use and its aesthetics. Over the years a standard set of expected practices have grown up for both ADV and NVL UI design and the majority of visual novels follow them to avoid the pitfalls of invasive UI. However, if the developer is willing to run the risk of potentially irritating the player with unfamiliar layouts, there is value in breaking these conventions for the sake of creating a memorable overall experience. How do these differing approaches influence the form and function of visual novels? Let’s press some buttons and find out. Standardised Structure In order to ensure the best player experience, visual novel developers have learned from the mistakes and successes of the past and formed a cohesive set of standards for UI which most modern titles adhere to. These rules of style manifest slightly differently depend on if the game uses ADV or NVL as its means of text presentation. For an ADV title we can look at how Sabbat of the Witch handles its UI elements and given Yuzusoft’s prominence within the industry they make for a good bar to gauge how standards have been cemented. The first thing which will strike the viewer is the layout of the text box comprising the bottom eighth of the screen. Here it is a translucent orange textbox and this use of colour and opacity is done in order to make the text clear to read while not entirely obscuring the background and sprites behind it. Being as nonintrusive as possible is the aim here as it means having as few barriers as possible to the player’s immersion in the narrative and this prevents them for being reminded of the fact they are playing a game. Along the bottom of the screen are a series of small buttons that provide access to the various load and save features, the ability to skip in differing ways and other important settings. These are made as small as possible while having the ability to let it disappear if the player decides it is in the way and this is done to remove as much clutter from the screen as possible while still providing access to all the needed features a player expects to have at their fingertips. As for the text in the text box, the name of the speaking character is sits above the main body of the text aligned with its left side and the text itself does not fill the entire box, but instead leaves about a third of the text box as empty space. This formatting of the text placement on the UI keeps the text feeling like a consistent flow as everything occupies roughly the same amount of space regardless of how much is said and it prevents the text from feeling disorderly. All these common UI elements are in service of the general aim to make itself as easy to ignore as possible while still being clear and navigable. There is also a light overall feeling from the small size of the UI and the way it takes up so little of the screen allows for the character sprites and CG to have an immediate and striking impact. It is for these reasons that ADV is favoured by many visual novels which want to keep their tone bright or those which want to place an emphasis on their characters. Hidden UI The standardisation of NVL has a lot of similarities to that of ADV since both stem from the same design philosophies, but they manifest in different ways and for different purposes. A common trend in NVL titles is to have no UI buttons on the interface at all and instead require the player to open and entirely separate pause menu to access other functions like loading and saving. On the surface this inconvenience might seem to be a major issue but it is a trade off to compensate for the much larger amount of the screen which is covered by the NVL textbox. Since it covers much of the portraits and CGs and puts a greater emphasis on itself compared to its ADV counterpart, there is a need to avoid drawing the player out of the experience through the large UI and removing an unnecessary element helps keep the focus on the narrative. Thinking Outside Of The Box Breaking the rules and conventions of a medium has a strong impact on the viewer and UI can make good use of this shock factor to play on their emotional state. Rather than being clean and out of sight these visual novels make their UI take up large sections of the screen and be loud and obvious at all times. Such a direct presentational element is impossible for the player to ignore and helps the imagery and messaging this interface is aiming to convey. Parts of the UI might also change over time to keep itself interesting and reflect the narrative or mental state of the characters at any given moment. The uniqueness of these aspects helps the title to stick in the player’s memory through its contrast with the familiar UI from other games and encourages the player to return and experience the distinctiveness they cannot find anywhere else. However, standards exist for a reason and a visual novel using an odd or expansive interface may run afoul of frustrations stemming from the inconvenience and confusion caused when attempting to do something as simple as saving. For an example of what this kind of UI looks like in practice we can turn to Girlfriend Simulator. It uses a style of frame UI which encloses the backgrounds and sprites while taking up a large section of screen space. Large and clear buttons occupy the left hand side for easy access to the core features of a visual novel and are presented as part of the edges of the main window alongside the text box to create a feeling of importance and continuity with the rest of the visuals. Behind all of this an ominous image of an eye hang in a sea of unsettlingly dim orange which communicates the tone and atmosphere of the game before a single word has appeared on screen and remains as a constant reminder of what underlies everything. In the top left sits an unease meter that slowly ticks up as the player makes their choices and acts as a constant communication of the protagonist’s decaying state. Together these powerful elements show how a large UI can impact a player's perception of a work and the way it can influence they emotional state. Conclusion As the part of a visual novel which is always present on screen, it is important for the design of the UI to meet the needs of both the developer and the player. Standardised rules have formed for what UI should look like and these have influenced many titles. Those using ADV aim for a clean interface where the player has easy access to all the key features they need while not distracting from the visuals. NVL takes this to a greater extreme with many games often having no visible buttons at all and those with them try to frame them within the aesthetics of the narrative. Rejecting rules and guidelines can provide a powerful impact for a visual novel UI and further the tonal and thematic ideas the game is presenting. When it comes to UI there is a temptation to consider it as the last element in the design process for a visual novel, but to do so is stripping yourself of understanding a valuable angle of how the player will experience your game.

  4. Welcome to this week, and as for the title I'll explain it in PS. For this week, let's just say that we have Shiravune being very active for an easy word with them had a number of announcements. Other than Shiravune, Nekonyan also has some news to share, although unfortunately it's not in regard of their releases yet. Lastly, we obviously still have some updates from fan translation. Overall, let's just say that this week is an almost below average one and let's see what I can write in regard of it. This week we have Tsuma Netori is at a quarter edited, 225 lines of Fate/Extra CCC main script has been edited, ChuSingura is at 25.9% translated, Tsukihime Remake Ciel's Route Day 13 has been finalized along with Day 14 of it has been fully edited, and Akagoei FD is at 48.28% edited. I know there's also Koiyasumi release as well, although I'll save the talk for next VNTS Review. We also have Rewrite Harvest Festa partial patch release that Amaterasu did work on (For the info initially it's Amaterasu 9th project before they're disappear), and the patch did contain full translation for all of the routes along with translate the beginning part of Rewrite Quest (The RPG minigame in Harvest Festa). In case you've been waiting for this ever since Sekai announce it (With them currently struggling with the editing work) and just want to read the story, then feel free to try the patch. While we know that Sol Press has financial problem when it come to the tax, turned out that the problem is far worse than we thought, especially with them didn't manage to pay the royalty for Tinkle Position (ie Onikiss developer). Since Sol Press has been suspended from doing business, naturally Onikiss license has been indirectly stopped and thus there's no way to get the royalty. With that circumstance, Nekonyan decided to help them by took over the license for Onikiss, and they planned to re-release it in the near future. Well, initially they want to release it in last Friday, although there are some unavoidable circumstances so they need to delay it for a while. Honestly speaking while Kara no Shoujo trilogy announcement from Shiravune is good news, I can't help but think that the announcement for the first two title is redundant, especially with almost no change in the second part. Granted arguably the first part has a number of improvement compared to what Mangagamer released in 2011, but even then there's a patch that add Mangagamer's translation into newer version of the first part (And also the second part), and thus the first two parts are redundant even with the new version and translation (Lemnisca is responsible for the retranslation work) on top made it available on Steam. If anything else, at least it mean that they have the license for the long awaited third part, so you can just wait for it to be released. Speaking of release, Shiravune already have the exact release date for the first part, and it'll be on July 28th later. They'll also release Nukitashi on 23rd and Dungeon Travelers 2 duology on Friday later. Other than Kara no Shoujo trilogy, they also have White Album, as if the first White Album that has no relation with WA2 (If I remember right, WA2 only has mention the first WA heroines in the beginning), and for the info they'll release PS3 backport version which as we know has no sex scenes. For the premise, it's about our MC Touya who's been in relationship with the upstart idol Morikawa Yuki, although thanks to her popularity their relationship has been pulled apart, so Touya need to be either tried his best to maintain their relationship or perhaps find someone else. It should be mentioned that while it eventually spawn the well received WA2 and it also has love triangle story, it won't be as dramatic as WA2. There's still no plan on when Shiravune release WA, although looking at the Steam store it'll be on Q3 of this year (ie between July to September). I also know that WA has fan translation project, so I'll just wait and see for both. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week. PS - Since we have Kara no Shoujo trilogy announcements with the direct translation of it is 'Girl in the Shell' (By the way Shiravune localize the title as 'The Shell' which to say is very generic) and White Album announcement, I make the parody of Kara no Shoujo translated title with I change 'Girl' into 'Star' (Because WA has idol and the most well known idol anime is Oshi no Ko with the title can be translated as 'My Star'), so we have 'Star in the Shell' as the title.

  5. Because we have Nightmare x Onmyouji released by Mangagamer and that in Sengoku Rance we have Onmyouji class, I'd change the word 'Onmyouji' into the fan translation of Sengoku Rance for that class (Diviner), so we have 'Nightmare x Diviner' as the title for this week VNTS Review. For this week, compared to the last one it's kind of plain. That said, there still some interesting updates such as Mangagamer bunch of updates and Yuzusoft released trial for Tenshi Re-Boot along with it's 4-koma video (I'll explain why it's worth to mention later). Overall I can say that this week is an average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Shiravune had yet another surprise announcement, although unfortunately it's not Tamayura Mirai or Sacrifice Villain exact release date, but instead it's just Kuroinu Redux in which from what I see it's the improved version of Kuroinu that Mangagamer released in the past. Said improvement is done by adding some new contents such as new sex scenes and music mode, so you may pick this if you feel the lack of music mode in Kuroinu bother you. That said, since the improvement is small compared to Utawarerumono 1 remake and that I didn't pick Kuroinu, I'll just say that the release is redundant. If you want to get it later, you may note the release date on May 19th later. Speaking of release, Fakku released My Life as a Cult Leader nukige, with the premise that the MC was randomly picked as the stand-in for sex cult leader, and obviously the MC will enjoy a lot of passionate sex with the cult members which mostly have big breast. Speaking of cult, Nightmare x Onmyoji is also revolving around the cult who willing to rape any girl that meddle with their demon summoning business, and this time the unlucky girls who about to suffer that fate are Yuka (Again) along with Setsuna (The previous Nightmare series MC) who've been kidnapped by the cult with their new companion Kuon (The titular onmyouji) did her best to rescue those two, although obviously Kuon will also suffer a lot of rapes just like Setsuna. If anything else, the graphic is still good so go get the VN if you're interested with it and have fun. For the rest of Mangagamer's updates, we have Eve of December is at 90% translated, Funbag Fantasy 4 is at 41.5% along with 38% edited, Rance 03 is at 39% translated along with 14% edited, and Rance X is at halfway translated along with 4.5% edited (Note that the edited progress is regressed from 5%, and the reason is because the finding of bunch new lines). We also have Luckydog update after long time not seeing on it ever since it was announced, and said update is that the translation for it is almost nearly completed. We also have Raillore is still in scripting with additional note that it's almost ready for the testing (So it might be Mangagamer's next release after Lkyt), and last but not the least we finally have Sona-Nyl entering the scripting. Oh yes we have Mangagamer add their secret project, and currently it's been fully translated and edited. In fan translation section, we have Akagoei FD is at 28.74% edited along with 12.64% in QA, Manakashi is roughly at 66% translated, H2O is at 31.4% edited, Majikoi A-5 is approximately 85% done, Senmomo is at 93.69% edited with side stories is past three quarter (77.92%) edited, and Planetarian Snow Globe is currently in testing and editing work. We also have another nukige from Black Lilith translated, and said nukige is Tsuma Netori with the premise married heroine who is PE teacher in the high school experienced a lot of sexual assaults at school. For the progress, currently it's been at 10% translated. Lastly there's ChuSingura in which currently it's at 20.99% translated with the first chapter was fully translated (For the reminder ChuSingura has five chapters), and that the translator will do some editing works for the next 2 or 3 weeks later before releasing the patch that cover 20.99% of whole ChuSingura. Yuzusoft did release the trial for their newest VN Tenshi Re-Boot, so you can read the trial if you can read Japanese. Yuzusoft also released 4-koma video for both of main and side heroines, and if you follow their Youtube then you know that the video has English caption with Nekonyan provided it. What I want to say is that it's indicate that Nekonyan will localize Tenshi Re-Boot in the future, so the question is when we can see the announcement in regard of it. There are some more clue that Tenshi Re-Boot will be available in English, but the fact that 4-koma video has English caption is enough proof seeing that Cafe Stella 4-koma video also has English caption. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  6. Because we have both of Lorena and the Land of Ruins (Controversial) update along with Shiravune announced Dungeon Travelers 2 PC version, I decided to change the word 'Dungeon' with 'Ruin' so we have 'Ruin Travelers 2' as the title (I know that the title is quite plain). Also yes, I know both are not VN, but may as well write about those two in here. Anyway, to be honest I'm about to call this week as a plain one, but thanks to both Shiravune and Nekonyan suddenly give the announcements, I manage to find this week become interesting, although it only apply to the announcements though. That said if you want interesting release, then there's Tsui no Stella leak. Overall, this week is an almost interesting one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Nekonyan announced that there won't be sex scenes in Lorena, and the reasons is because the developer decided to do away with 18+ game and go all age. What I can say is that it definitely resemble several companies who goes all age (ie Laplacian, Pulltop, Harukaze), but unlike those companies in which they decided to remove all of the written sex scenes, Lorena only has MP4 sex scenes video with the sex scenes are only encountered when Lorena lost. While obviously removed content is always sensitive matter, in the end I didn't care much of it when it come to Lorena. Anyway to dilute the censorship controversy here, I should also mention that Nekonyan manage to get Steam store page for Klutzy Cupid was opened (Link to the store page), and they said that it's the fastest wait because they only need for two days to be approved. For the comparison, it could took weeks for games to be approved, so good for them. Shiravune announced the Dungeon Travelers 2 for PC version, and for the bonus they also announced 2-2 as well. For the premise, it's about the MC Fred who is an adventurers that was dispatched into combating the monster uprising, and for some reasons the monsters are cute girls. Well, Aquaplus is used to be develop several VNs, so it's normal to be like that, especially with the first Dungeon Travelers is a what-if for To Hearts 2 casts when they're in RPG setting. For 2-2, apparently it's more or less the same, expect that it took time after the MC failed to do the quest and lost the battle. It also has controversy, namely that Steam rejected the game. Oh yes, it also has PSV version that was released by Atlus, although it's been censored for the obvious reasons and they didn't localize 2-2. We have another route for Obedient Women released, and with that it bring nine routes of it all translated. By the way the newest route is about Nagasaki Kotomi, who from what I see is more or less about a married landowner daughter who didn't happy with her arranged marriage had sex with another man, and obviously it lead the wife to have affair. Sugar Sweet Temptation release was delayed to 26th, so obviously we didn't have April release anymore. Speaking of release date, there are four otome VNs release announcements with three of those are from Aksys. For the detail, we'll going to have Charade Maniacs released on June 27th, Jack Jeanne on June 15th, Radiant Tale on July 27th, and Norn9 fandisc on August 24th. Feel free to note the date if you've been waiting for those four otome VNs releases. From fan translation, we have Shin Koihime Musou is at 65% edited, Yosuga no Sora is at 71% TLC-ed along with 55% edited, Haruka na Sora is at 70% translated and TLC-ed along with 26% edited, Koiyasumi is at 45.91% edited, H2O is at 46.8% edited, Tsuma Netori is at 35% edited, and ChuSingura is at 21.34% translated. Once again if you want interesting release, then there's Tsui no Stella full translation patch leak (Because it was released without permission from the rest of the group), although said patch was pulled out quickly because the editing of it is still not completed with the progress is currently at 20% edited. That said if you can't wait for the official release of Tsui no Stella, then feel free to try the patch. Almost forgot to mention that we have Aojashin restoration patch progress, and the newest patch has 13 out of 17 sex scenes translated. Other than Dungeon Traveler 2, Shiravune had yet another surprise announcement. Said announcement is Nukitashi, in which if we know is one of VN that Sol Press failed to release. The premise of it is still the same with our MC (Junnosuke) who chose to protect his virginity for his true love thrown into the island where have sex is a necessity, and he decided to organize the rebellion because he didn't like the rules. Also it's use the translation that Ittaku has been working on back when Sol Press still being active to translating VNs, so currently it's been fully translated and edited with the last progress is in QA work. Obviously it mean that it's almost ready for the release, and it'll be available in this year on both Steam (With the contents are apparently only 2 hours for the obvious reason) and Johren. Last but not the least, Nekonyan announce an unexpected title, although it should be mentioned that it's very unexpected only to anyone else who never following VNs news in the first place. Yes, that title is Tenshi Re-Boot, and Nekonyan basically already indirectly confirmed that they'll localized the newest Yuzusoft VN through several tweets (They mentioned that they translated the 4-koma video and the info of it on VNDB are pulled from their tweets). That said, it's still surprising that they announced it as soon as Japanese version was released back on April 28th. For the premise, it's about our MC Riku who got visited by the angel Noa (One of the heroine), and then Noa reveal that Riku is actually the reincarnation of the Demon King with Noa was tasked to protect Riku. We already have some progress on this, and right now it's been at 10% translated. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

    Brother Tales Review

Welcome to my first VNTS Review in 2023. Since we have Brothers Conflict release, I'd make a parody of the Autumn 2001 anime Angel Tales, which is somehow fitting seeing that both have 13 characters of the same gender with the MC is from the different gender (Although Brothers Conflict heroes are not the animal in their past life though), so we have 'Brother Tales' for the title. For the first week of 2023, the only release that we have is Brothers Conflict, although obviously it's not that I'd paid attention to. That said, the updates that we have here are far more interesting compared to the single release. Oh yes Shiravune also about to release their first 2023 title, although it's not what I look forward from them here so I suppose they want to go through their smaller title first. All in all, this week is more or less another average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Even though we have Brothers Conflict release, it's not been released by Aksys Games but instead it was fan translated. For the premise, we have our female MC Ema who had her remarry a man who turned out has 13 handsome sons, and when Ema moved on the brother didn't easily accepted her in. Of course though, sooner or later the brothers feeling towards Ema starts to change, and from there it's possible that the changed feeling will be blossoming towards the forbidden love. It also has anime adaptation, so at least it's quite popular to a degree. As for the translated version, it's Passion Pink. I did mention the version because turned out there's a big difference between version, with said difference is which brothers that you can date, so you can't date all of the brothers in the translated version here. Go get Brothers Conflict if you want to play it and have PSV (The translator only translate PSV version), and have fun. Cherry Kiss announce yet another nukige with the title Kinky Cosplay: Gyarus Gone Wild, and well I can only say that it's another short nukige from Miel with the focus is the gyaru heroines. In case you want to get it, it'll be available on 13th later. Speaking of nukige, Shiravune first 2023 title is one in that it's the sequel of nurse femdom nukige, Nope Nope Nope Nurses, and it should be obvious that it'll be about another femdom nukige with nurses heroines, so it's not my interest here. In case you want to get it though, you can note the release date in which it'll be on 20th later. JAST did confirm that they're failed to release Tokyo Necro in 2022, but in exchange they mentioned that they're preparing for both Steam and GOG release, so at least you can buy it from the other stores beside JAST store. As for the cause of the delay, as expected it's more or less because the engine work of it is still not done yet, especially with them mentioned that they're 'working closely with Nitroplus to deliver the best possible experience for players', which apparently involving several testing and stuffs. Speaking of delay, we also have Lupercalia release delayed because of the translator was too busy, although he most certainly promised that he'll release the full translation patch in this month. Oh yes we have Lupercalia is at 99% edited with QC in progress, with the remaining things to do are give a look through to all script files along with cleaning typos here and there. For the rest of fan translation updates, besides Brothers Conflict release and Lupercalia delay announcements, we have Chronos is fully translated along with 80% edited, 70 out of 138 script files of Umi kara Kuru Mono are translated, Senmomo is at 84.08% edited with side stories is at 44.3% edited, the editing of Tsuki's route in Akagoei FD is currently ongoing with the translator started translating Akagoei 3, ChuSingura is at 17.78% translated, H2O is at 81.3% translated with Hamaji's route was fully translated, and Eustia is at 99.46% in programming with Licia's chapter is at 97.14% in programming. We also have Snow Ryuujin informed that they managed to translated 2 out of 4 sex scenes in Hikari's route of Miagete, in which it's pretty much about 60% like the last update mentioned. That's all for what I can say in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  8. Welcome to this week VNTS Review and sorry for being very late here. For this week, since we have Uchi no Koibito sudden release with the premise resemble horror movie Knock Knock (The man was live together with two girls, although in Knock Knock the girls raped the man and then ruined his life) and Tamayura Mirai release from the last week with mod Clephas mentioned that it resemble Monobeno, I'd make a parody of Monobeno updated version, Monobeno -Happy End-, by changing 'Monobeno' into 'Knock Knock', so we have 'Knock Knock -Happy End-' as the title. As for this week, we have a bunch of announcements and releases, although unfortunately none of those are quite interesting to me. If anything else, at least Mangagamer announcements have good graphic, and so to me this week is more or less an average one. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week here. There's a new fan translation group (Shinzou Translations) that translate several short VNs, with two of those are Fukyou no Hana and Hikage no Himari. I can only say that good for the group if they manage to working on their favorite VNs, even with the VNs are the short one. We also have Dei Gratia full translation patch release, and yes by Dei Gratia I mean the VN that Lemnisca was decided to scrapped the localization plan after their KS with the base goal 57,000 dollars failed (The link to the patch). The premise is still in regard of several people who were trapped inside a closed room like in Ever17 (Which make sense considering Dei Gratia here is some sort of Ever17 tribute), and said closed room is in the sinking submarine 700 meters below the surface with the unknown threat at the depth of the ocean. Go get the translation patch if you want to play this ever since Lemnica announced the KS plan for this, and have fun. For this week fan translation updates, we have ChuSingura is at 24.72% translated with the translated lines passed 20,000 lines mark, Tsuma Netori is at 20% edited, H2O is at 60.2% edited, Senmomo is at 98.42% edited with side stories is at 94.47% edited, and Akagoei FD is at 40.23% edited along with 24.14% QA-ed. That's all for this week fan translation updates. While this is not VN news, may as well mention that Nekonyan will release Lorena on 26th later. Speaking of release, we have both Aksys and Cherry Kiss released Koinegau and Oppai Samurai respectively. Koinegau here is about a female MC who live in Edo era can see the black thread that will be followed by a disaster and thus be shunned by the villagers, which of course eventually lead her to have a romance with one of six handsome heroes. Go get Koinegau if you want to play it and have Switch (Because it's only available on Switch). As for Oppai Samurai, once again it's about a very famous demon slayer who've been forced to have sex with nobody, and it also has interesting description courtesy of Cherry Kiss translator. Go get Oppai Samurai if you're interested with it, and have fun. Shiravune announced they'll release another nukige from Appetitie with the localized title Queen of the Otaku, and they already have the exact release date for it in which it'll be on July 18th later. Other that announce the new title, Shiravune released Kuroinu Redux with them had all characters in silhouette on top of cutting the contents leaving the prologue alone in Steam version, which is understandable considering Valve can be very random when it come to ban even with the game that has less explicit contents. From what I hear apparently it has new contents, although in the end it's still redundant anyway. If anything else, at least people can purchase the whole Kuroinu in cheaper price seeing that Mangagamer release it in three parts with each parts price is at 25 dollars. Sekai manage to be predictable by announced both of Animal Trail FD and Animal Trail 2 back in Anime Central, and at least the graphic for both are good seeing that Unless Terminalia (The VN from the same company) won the Best Graphic Award back in Getchu 2022. Oh yes, Sekai already had both are fully translated and edited with them currently wating the build for both. For the other updates, Sekai also has Imuto no Seiiki was in QA which mean they manage to get the engine, and lastly we have Amairo Chocolata 2 being approved by Valve with Sekai currently doing the testing for it. Mangagamer announced two VNs, with the first one is the aforementioned Uchi no Koibito that Mangagamer was suddenly released on Anime Central. For the premise, this time instead of living with either his childhood friend or little sister, the MC live together with two girls who work at the cafe that the MC frequent because their home was burned down, and obviously it'll lead the MC to eventually have the romance with two girls with them occasionally do threesome. With this, now we have Uchi trilogy available in English, so go get the VN if you interested with it and have fun. The second one is Nightmare x Vampire in which it's possibly Mangagamer's secret project with the progress is fully translated and edited, and this time we have the vampire girl Rei who at first have rivalry with Setsuna (The first Nightmare series MC) before finally respect each other capabilities. Obviously, we'll going to have Rei got raped as per Nightmare series. Mangagamer also has several updates with the most significant one is Sona-Nyl finally in testing, which if we know that it's been announced from all the way back in 2016 it mean that the wait for is is almost over. Speaking of testing, Mangagamer also mentioned that they almost ready to do the testing for Raillore. For the rest of the updates, we have Rance 03 is at 48% translated along with 29% edited, Rance X is at 56% translated along with 5% edited, Funbag Fantasy is past halfway (51%) translated along with 49% edited, and Eve of December is at 91% translated along with 8% edited. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

    Cerulean Kiss Review

Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title, since we have Nekonyan announced their first OELVN license (Cerulean Day) and re-released Onikiss back on last Wednesday, I combined both title so we have 'Cerulean Kiss' as the title. For this week, well, let's just be blunt that this week is more or less a plain one with no interesting announcement (Besides Tsukihime Remake 1 full translation patch exact release date announcement). As for the release, well at least Koiyasumi is a nice short single heroine VN with good graphic, so at least it should be good if you're in mood to play something light. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week. Sekai did have several updates, and as for the updates we have Sheol engine work is 60% done, Inouto no Seiiki is at 90% in QA, and Nie no Hakoniwa is at 30% edited. JAST did announce the exact release date for Onigokko FD, and it'll be on 23rd later. Cherry Kiss announce yet another nukige with the title Mommy Sensei: Horny Homework with them will release it on 20th later, and I can always say that they're very creative when it come to translate the premise. A company did pick Club Suicide, and from what I see it's an otome VN with the female MC see the announcement in regard of the club who had the goal to do suicide with the female MC unwittingly took a look of it which cause her to be dragged into the club. Turned out that Craftwork had another surprise in regard of their new VN Geminism in which it's already surprising enough that they manage to develop a VN after Sayooshi release back in 2001, because actually they're planned to have Geminism simultaneous English release on August 25th later. I don't know though if Craftwork planned to release this by themselves or asking another party (Maybe Shiravune) for help. For Geminism itself, it has a female twin sisters fought each other for an unknown reasons with two mysterious men watch over the twin fight. Other than that, apparently this might be another VN with disturbing contents, which shouldn't be surprise if we know Sayooshi. Like I mention beforehand, we have an announcement for Tsukihime Remake 1 full translation patch exact release date with said date will be on 17th later (Obviously it mean that Ciel's route are both fully edited and finalized), so if you're understandably been waiting for the full translation patch and have Switch than you can note the date. Personally speaking I probably will not playing this, because it's quite bothersome to set Switch emulator on my laptop back when I tried Mahoyo and the result is not worth of the effort. For Koiyasumi itself, it's about the MC who is an university student coming back to his hometown and reunited with his female childhood friend, and of course they'll have a lot of sweet moment as the couple. Go get the patch if you've been waiting for Koiyasumi, and have fun. For the rest of fan translation updates, we have Yuzuki's route of Ginharu is more than halfway edited, ChuSingura is at 26.24% translated, Akagoei FD is past halfway (55.17%) edited, 33 out of 169 script files for Akagoei 3 are translated, and Tsuma Netori is at 30% edited. In regard of Cerulean Day, from what I see it's a VN about an island that become isolated from the outside world because the government decided to make a very tightly controlled internet network as the result of the lethal biological attack that happen in the past, which in exchange make the island is like the world before the internet introduced. I don't know if the VN can be as popular as DDLC or Katawa Shoujo or as well received as Sekimeiya, but at least I can say that the graphic is quite nice looking. For a bit of history, this VN is from Swedian creator with them making the Kickstarter back in 2019, and obviously I don't know about this until Nekonyan announced it. Personally speaking I would prefer Nekonyan to just put the focus on translating VNs, although if they want to try to publish OELVN then so be it (I just hope that they didn't try to create as much as OELVN as possible like Sekai). That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  10. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. Since we have Tristia released with the female MC Nanoca along with the gameplay is like older Atelier game (Pre-Iris game one), I figure that I should just call it as 'Atelier Nanoca' in which it's the title for this week VNTS Review. For this week, we have two (Or rather three) releases with two of those are Tristia new VNs. Other than the releases, we also have big update for Eustia in that it's been fully programmed, and also the announcement for Akai Ito and Aoishiro exact release date. Overall this week is an above average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Shiravune released Nope Nope Nope Nurses, and if I may say my reaction in a very blunt manner then I should say it as nope nope nope lol. Seriously speaking though, it's the sequel of the first femdom nurse nukige in that from what I see it's quite short. From what I see, it add four more sadistic nurses that will give the MC more painful experiences, especially in regard of sex. That said, you can get the VN if you want to see more femdom nurse (If anything else at least the character design for the nurses are still good) and have fun. The biggest update for fan translation is that we finally have Eustia was fully in programming, which mean it might be possible to see June's release after all. That said , there's still some work left to be done, namely that the translator will do some last checkup on the script files of the last chapter before finally allowed the it to be QC-ed. Granted that I would prefer him to allow the script files to be QC directly, but considering that we have Mizuha's patch that has a lot of mistakes because it didn't QA-ed yet and become controversial, it would be better to be safe than sorry (Well both options are obviously have pro and con). In any case, it's good to see Eustia finally reach the milestone, and for the info the first three chapters are already QC-ed, so all that left is to do QC run for the last two chapters. For the rest of fan translation updates, we have Chronos was fully edited, the fifth Drama CD for White Album 2 Mini fandisc was translated (You can view the video of the drama CD here), ChuSingura is at 18.27% translated, and H2O is at 95.5% translated with Maki's route was fully translated and Otoha's route is at 59.9% translated. We also have the updates from Yosuga no Sora translation team, in that we have Yosuga no Sora is at 68% TLC-ed along with 35% edited, and there's also Haruka na Sora update in that Kozue's route is at 20% translated. We also have new project with the goal to translate Koiyasumi, and it's more or less like a single heroine nukige in which we'll going to have a MC who is an university student going back to his old home in the countryside with him living together with his female childhood friends. For the progress, currently Koiyasumi is at 21.11% translated. Recently Success announced the exact date for Aoishiro and Akai Ito duology HD Remake, and said date will be on May 25th later with the pre-order will be opened on February 1st. For the info, it's only for the Switch version so no Steam version until further notice. Speaking of announced the exact release date, just today Nekonyan announced that they'll release Mirai Radio on February 17th later so you can note the date if you've been looking forward to it. Lastly we have Trisitia released, and it's divided into two releases (Legacy and Restore). Once again Tristia is about our female MC Nanoca who is tasked to restore the ruined town in place of her legendary grandfather, although obviously it won't be easy for her, doubly so with a lot of people doubt her capabilities. Even so, she won't give up on her task and she will do her best to see her job finished successfully. Go get Trisita if you've been waiting for it since Kogado announced the English version of it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week VNTS Review, and happy Chinese New Year. See you next week.

  11. Visual Novel Translation Status (25/12/2022) Because we have Otome Domain release and that we have Bokukotsu cameo in the trial, I decided to parody the latter by changing the word 'Akuma' in the full title (Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Akuma) into 'Ojousama', so we have 'Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Ojousama' (Because we have ojousama heroines in Otome Domain) in which it might be work as another title for Otome Domain, seeing that the heroines are more or less pretty useless with the MC is the only one who is the most capable among the cast. Anyway this week highlight is obviously Otome Domain release by Shiravune, which I've been waiting for this for an admittedly personal reasons. Other than that, we also finally have the update from Sekai, and more importantly the annoucement of the exact release date for Mizuha's patch of Ginharu. Overall this week here is slightly above average, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. For Sekai's update, once again I can summarize it by it's just too bad that it still didn't have the updates from both of Madosoft VNs (Hamidashi and Raspberry Cube). That said, if anything else, at least they still have Sheol update if we talk about the update for their AX project, with the current progress is at three quarter translated along with a quarter edited. Other than Sheol, we also have Chiisana Kanojo is at 30% translated along with 10% edited, Akaneiro is at 40% translated, and Zutto Mae Kara Joshi Deshita was fully translated. We also finally have the update for Usonatsu, and currently it's been at 40% translated along with 30% edited. Lastly, we have Kanojo no Seiiki is at 80% in QA, which mean we finally get the build of it. For fan translation, obviously the most prominent update is in regard of the plan to release Mizuha's patch of Ginharu on 26th later (ie two days later) with all of the processes on her route are already done, so let's see if we can see the release from Daybreak on that date later. For the other updates, we have Shin Koihime Musou is at 62% edited, Chronos is at 85% translated, 43 out of 138 script files for Umi kara Kuru Mono are translated, and H2O is at 72.6% translated with Yui's route is at 88.9% translated. Almost forget to mention that Todokanai already translated the 4th bonus drama CDs from White Album 2 Mini-After Story, and with it now we only have two untranslated bonus drama CDs. Last but not the least is Otome Domain release in which it's released by Shiravune yesterday. Personally speaking while I knew that the premise of it is kind of cliche, actually I like to see more of it being translated, simply because it's nice to see the VN with have trap MC and the female heroines. For the premise we have our Minato who lost all of his family after his grandmother dead, so naturally he's all alone. After taking care of the funeral, an ojousama, Kazari, come to offer the help, and said offer is to have Kazari take care of Minato as the way to repaid the late grandmother's kindness to Kazari. Of course it including the offer to attend the school that Kazari herself is the board director of, although the school itself is obviously all girl school so Minato must dressed up as girl in which it really fit him much to his dismay. After coming into the school, turned out that Minato need to deal with the other problems besides him being forced to cross-dress, because all of Minato's friend (Including Kazari) are kind of useless, so it's up to Minato to take care of them like Ren in Bokukotsu. Go get Otome Domain if you've been looking forward to it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and merry Christmas. See you next week.

  12. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. As for this week, well compared to the last week I think this time we have more updates than release, although some of the updates can be said as interesting one, especially with one of the updates is that Sekai finally starting the translation work on Parfait Remake. Other than that, there's also Walkure Romanze update from fan translation along with several other fan translation updates. Overall, this week is an average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. I'll mention the title on PS later, and yes I know Nekonyan finally give us a bunch of updates but I'll save the talk of it for next VNTS Review. Cherry Kiss was suddenly released Muscle MILF back on last Friday. From what I see, it's more or less about a very sexy construction work boss ask the MC to fulfill her sexual needs, which of course the MC will be doing so a lot. At least the English description of this is quite entertaining if I may say something, and feel free to get it if you want to play more Cherry Kiss nukige. For Sekai updates, we have Sheol is at 90% translated, Nie no Hakoniwa was fully translated along with 20% edited, and Usonatsu is at halfway translated. Other than the aforementioned Parfait that has begin the translation work, we also have Hoshizora Kakaru Hashi starting the work as well. Sekai also has two upcoming releases, in which those two are Kanojo no Seiiki on 13th and Drapri 3 on 14th later, and yes basically Sekai just confirm that they licensed Drapri 3 which to say is very obvious so much that I'm a bit surprised to find out that they just announced it's license recently. From fan translation, we have Nursery Rhyme was almost finished the testing work, ChuSingura is at 18.88% translated, Senmomo is at 91.18% edited with side stories is at 69.13% edited, Tsukihime Remake Ciel's route day 9 and 10 are finalized, Bishoujo Mangekyou 2.5 entering the second pass, Akagoei FD is at 18.39% edited along with 3.45% QA-ed, Yosuga no Sora is at 69% TLC-ed along with 48% edited, and H2O is at 11.2% edited. Like I say beforehand, there's also Walkure Romanze in which we have Mio's route is currently being QA-ed while the translator already have some more work on Noel's route (Around past halfway up to 60%). Lastly we have Kara no Shoujo 3 trial translation patch release (The patch is in the translator's Discord), in which actually is more like the prologue of the full game. In case you wonder if the translator want to translate the full game, then the answer is not. Still, feel free to read the trial if you've been waiting for the translated Kara no Shoujo 3. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week. PS - Because we have Muscular MILF nukige release with the title has the word 'Gatenkei' that can also be translated as 'Blue-Collar Worker', I'll just change the word 'MILF' into 'Blue-Collar Worker' so we have 'Muscular Blue-Collar Worker' as this week title.

  13. Visual Novel Translation Status (16/07/2023) Since we have Aquarium (VN with VTuber Minato Aqua as the main heroine) English release announcement along with Tsui no Stella fan translation release, once again I make the parody for Tsui no Stella opening title (Breath of Stella) by changing 'Stella' with 'Cassiopeia' (The ending song for Aquarium, obviously sang by Minato Aqua), so we have 'Breath of Cassiopeia', which is still fitting seeing that Cassiopeia is the name of star constellation (The Wikipedia article) and Stella is the Latin word for star. Anyway welcome to this week VNTS Review, and compared to the last week this time it's definitely more lively, especially with the Tsui no Stella fan patch release. Other than that, we have some surprise update from a certain project. Overall, this week is more or less is an average one to a degree, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Entergram did plan to release Aquarium Steam version on October 26th later, and it also mentioned that it'll have English language support. At least Entergram here is starting to tried English market, although they obviously limit it to all age VN (Just like their former main company GIGA) with their first English product is VTuber VN. We also have yet another Obedient Women route released (Which mean the next route release would be the full release of it), with the story is focused on a sex crazed married woman Harukaze Akari who've been sexually frustrated because she didn't have sex for two years, at least until she met the MC who is her subordinate that she initially hate. Alicesoft released their another work, and said work is Hentai Labyrith with shota MC and monster girl heroines in a dungeon crawling RPG gameplay. Feel free to try if you're interested with it, although I can say that it's not as well received as the other Alicesoft VNs. JAST Blue did mention that they almost finished the formatting work for Hell Academy, and after the formatting done then they'll move on to the programming. We also have some updates from Sekai, with we have Akaneiro is at halfway translated, Chiisana Kanojo is at 60% translated along with 30% edited, and currently they're waiting the engine for Gakkou no Seiiki which for the info has threesome. Speaking of threesome, as expected Shiravune announced the 2nd part of Succubus Session that has threesome sex like Uchikano no Koibito with the name Yuri & Marin’s Second Helping, and for now the info in regard of it is only available on Johren's store page of it, so no exact release date for now. By the way in regard of exact release date, Nekonyan announced they'll release Clover Day's on August 18th later, which mean the wait for Clover Day's for almost a decade since fan translation project of it established is almost over. Last week we have a surprise release from Shinzou Translations, and this time they released another short VN called Mienai Nitousei which to say has some nice graphic. For other fan translation updates, we have ChuSingura is at 29.01% translated, 744 out of 2499 main scripts of Fate/Extra CCC are edited, and Akagoei 3 is at 36.14% translated. We also have sudden update from Loverable after more than a year with no update, in that we suddenly have more than halfway (50.42%) of the script are approved. Last but not the least, we have Tsui no Stella patch that was polished from the initial leak back in May, and yes it mean the Visual Arts release of it will become redundant (Although at least it'll be available on Steam). For the VN itself, once again the setting is quite grim with the emphasize on the white color, it's been written by Tanaka Romeo, and the MC Jude is asked to escort the robot girl Philia in her journey. Go get the patch if you chose to play Tsui no Stella as soon as possible, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  14. Visual Novel Translation Status (04/07/2023) Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as we know we have AX at this week. That said though, I should say that this week AX is quite dry compared to the last year. AX aside, of course we still have some updates with the most notable one is in regard of Sekai two releases in a week. Overall, with the update and this week AX, I can say that this week is almost exciting one with obviously the main highlight is the AX. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week, and as for the title I'll write about it on PS later. Idea Factory announced Bakarina VN and Sympathy Kiss, with them announce the former for Winter release and the latter for early 2024. For Bakarina VN, it should be obvious that it expand the story that actually is already complete in Season 1 finale with this time Bakarina and friends involved with the pirate. Also in case you want to see Bakarina has route with her female friends (Mary, Sophia, and Maria), unfortunately the VN staff decided to make the VN as full otome VN so no GL route in case someone hope for it. Idea Factory also released Charade Maniac, with the VN tell the story about a female student who've been kidnapped into some unknown place together with nine handsome men, and the cast was forced to work together while made aware with the existence of a traitor. Go get Charade Maniac if you've been waiting for it, and have fun. Oh yes, I should also mention that all of those Idea Factory otome VNs are only available for Switch. Aniplex announced that they got the license for Tsukihime Remake Part 1, and let's just say that it's redundant now that we already have the full translation patch of it was released just over two weeks ago with Aniplex didn't announce PC version of it (At least it has PS4 version if anything else). Speaking of Aniplex, they released the trial for their new VN called Hira Hira Hihiru in it's Steam store. From what I see, it's set in Taisho era with the citizen suffering the disease called Aerodema with the people who caught in it called hihiru, and the symptoms is that the patient body are rotting like zombie while at the same time their cognition, memory, and awareness are slipping away. Other than that, we have Musicus writer did write the VN and it's planned to be released on this year. Speaking of release, finally we have new exact release date for Sugar Sweet Temptation on 28th later, although we may have it delayed again so let's wait and see here. Somehow Sekai didn't manage to bring anything interesting at AX, despite that they proven to at least has some interesting announcements in their past AX. If I may say something about it, at least Sekai manage to cut their own backlog a bit because they manage to have two released in a week (Amairo Chocolata 2 and Imouto no Seiiki). At the same time though, they announced the newest Nekonin VN (ExHeart Spin) that's still not released yet, so they cut exactly one backlog which while it's not much at least it getting decreased. We also have Harvest Festa progress, in that they still finishing up the translation work because they find some untranslated text and currently undergoing image editing. Honestly speaking, outside Rewrite Quest Sekai version here is redundant because of the leaked patch, but still good luck to them to finishing it. From fan translation, we have ChuSingura is at 28.57% translated, 500 out of 2499 (20%) main script of Fate/Extra CCC are edited, H2O is at 88.6% edited, Tsuma Netori is caught up with the proofread (At 35%), and Yosuga no Sora is at 58% edited. We also have the update from the remaining Akagoei trilogy, with the FD is currently at 72.41% edited along with 36.78% in QA, and for Akagoei 3 currently it's at 31.83% translated (For the info, the translator change the progress from script files count into percentage). Oh yes, we also have Kemco announced their plan to localize Archetype Arcadia with the premise is the MC has the sister with fatal illness, and the only way to save his sister is by living inside the online game. Kemco already has the exact release date, and it'll be on October 24th later. JAST USA For JAST, we have both the main and side branch (JAST Blue) announced their new licenses. For JAST Blue, we have new partner Pil/Slash which is obviously focused on developing BL title (And apparently it's quite well known with them usually has dark theme in their works) with JAST announce two of it's title. The first title is Masquerade in which I may as well call it as Hell Academy, and the premise is we have the MC who is always bullied find himself in a hostage situation with his bully and his teacher with the police point the gun at them while forcing his hostage to do some workout. The second title is Paradise with the premise the MC hoping to see cute girl in his vacation (Obviously not gonna happen), and then he caught up in the situation where everyone is suspicious with soon the situation turned to become more chaotic. JAST has Goblin on the March, which from what I can see from DLSite it's about the MC who dead and then reincarnated as goblin. From there, the MC will try breed human as much as possible which of course lead into a high number of sex scenes. Almost forgot to mention that JAST also announced Gears of Dragoon 2 estimated release time, and for the info they'll try to release it around September later. They also got another Nitroplus VN, and said title is Mojika with the premise is we have the ugly MC who've been bullied, so it's obvious that he'll enact revenge when he decided to use his hidden power to eventually rape the female who've been bullied him. While it's easy to dismiss it as dark nukige which is quite unusual for Nitroplus to produce it, seeing that the writer is also Kimikoi (Also Carnevale and Tokyo Necro) writer, it should be obvious that there's something more beneath it. Another announcement is Sisters: Last Day of Summer, with the VN has good technical aspect with the sex scenes are animated on top of the graphic has anime style. The premise itself is nothing special though, with the MC live together with a woman who has two beautiful daughters. No much I can say other than that and currently it's in QA. We also have another Alcot VN announced, and the name of the VN is Yomegami with the premise is our MC is formerly a devil who need to do a lot of good deeds in order to return to the world of God, only to have his effort is constantly foiled because of his remaining devil power. I should also mention that one of the heroine is his mother who is the reincarnation of the goddess, which while I didn't mind much of it I know some may be wary. Surprisingly JAST manage to have one of Frontwing VN, and said VN is Djibril in which it's used to be Frontwing flagship series until Grisaia. The premise is we have a girl was suddenly chosen to become magical girl in order to fight the devil, and from there the girl together with her childhood friend (The MC) do her best to do so. While I know some may wait for this, I may as well wait until JAST announce the rest of the three VNs in Djibril series. Lastly there's Yamizome Liberator, which is the Escude VN with the exactly same premise and gameplay as Revenger. That said, it has some difference, namely that the one who possessed the MC is the female demon queen instead of the male demon king, which I assume that Escude do it in order to squash the complain from some people who think that the demon king in Revenger do the NTR toward the MC. By the way I've been looking forward to see Liberator translated, so good for JAST there. Mangagamer We have Hana Awase announced by Mangagamer, and from what I see it's obviously otome VN. The other thing I can see is that it didn't have sex scenes, already announced that it would have English version, and have complicated Hanafuda card battle gameplay with the story really put the focus on the card battle itself. I don't know if the card gameplay would be as simple as Princess Waltz or as complicated as Soukoku no Arterial, although looking from the screenshot it's probably like Princess Waltz. Almost forgot to mention that the developer initially release it in four parts, and Mangagamer will release one big bundle that compile the four parts of it. Oh, and currently we already have it fully translated and edited with the remaining work on it are coding and testing. Mangagamer announce Moonstone VN, Sex Open World, and well I can say that it's their biggest announcement in a way lol (Poor the heroines though that they could suffer backpain). Anyway, the premise is that the loser MC was thrown out into another world thanks to the accident as usual, and find out the legend that he destined to be the father of the heroes that will end the Era of the War. So, of course he was chased by several female, and out of those female seven of those have lucky chance to be blessed of the future heroes with the MC does his best to produce the heroes. Yeah, this is isekai nukige all right. Also, we already has some progress on it, with currently the translator already finished working on common and Yuuna's route, and currently on a third way working on both of Anna and Alecia routes. After working with Shiravune in regard of Sacrifice Villain, Clockup decided to work with Mangagamer in regard of Dead Days. From the premise, we have several dead people trapped in the other world with the promise that they will be revived in the real live, with one condition that the people must work together to eliminate all of the monsters called specters. While it simple enough, turned out that there's some slightly minor side effect of the revival, namely their libido increased which obviously increase the complication of the situation. By the way while we know that Clockup like their disturbing sex contents, in Dead Days its perfectly possible to avoid those, as long as you did your best to avoid the bad ending. Last but not the least, Mangagamer announcement is Ixseal, in which it's the third Beat series from Alicesoft. For the premise, we have our MC Tsuguhiko who is the reincarnated demon king bidding his time to gain his former power. One day, one of the female angel, Ixseal, decided to strike Tsuguhiko when he's about to recover his power. After surviving the attack, Tsuguhiko's loyal follower decided to betray him and stole six out of seven sins from Tsugihiko, leaving him with the sin of Lust. Then he found out that his former follower also trapped Ixseal on Earth and seal her source of power, so naturally she's got weakened. Having no choice, both decided to work together with Tsuguhiko providing power to Ixseal by using his own power of Lust to arouse Ixseal. So yeah, usual Beat series setting where you need to power up the magical girl through sex. Anyway, I've been waiting the license for this, so good for Mangagamer they managed to get Ixseal's license. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week VNTS Review, and sorry for being very late here. See you on the next VNTS Review here. PS - Because we have Mangagamer announced Beat Valkyrie Ixseal and JAST announced Yamizome Revenger, I made the parody of Beat Valkyrie Ixseal, so we have 'Beat Fencer Hiyori' as the title with Hiyori herself is one of Liberator's Heroine (So yeah it should be obvious that this is not the review of the game with the premise of grinding Hiyori's status through sex lol). For more elaboration, Hiyori title is Divine Fencer, although the kanji in her title is mean Divine Guardian, which mean Hiyori title as Fencer may come from the word En garde (On Guard) that always shouted by the referee when fencing match start.

  15. Visual Novel Translation Status (10/07/2023) Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and because we already have the exact release date for Klutzy Cupid may as well make a parody for an old anime I'm Gonna be An Angel! by changing 'Angel' into 'Cupid', which is fitting because Cupid is literally an angel (Or rather a Love Angel). As for this week, well it should be obvious that this week is quite plain because of the breather after AX, although at least there's some interesting update to note here, especially the announcement of exact release date for Klutzy Cupid. In the end, once again this week is a plain one and let's see what I can write about it. Turned out that JAST Blue was already finished their translation work on both of their announcements (Paradise and Hell Academy), so at least there's one big step done. Speaking of big step, we also had Goblin on the March about to enter the QA, so the wait for it shouldn't be too long. Personally speaking I prefer JAST put the effort on Yomegami or Liberator before AX, but I guess the technical works for those two VNs are a bit harder than usual. Sekai also announce their plan for Sheol, in that they'll release the trial for Q3 (Sometimes in July until September), and then do the full release in Q4 (Between October to December). From fan translation, first of all we have H2O was fully edited with the last process is the translator will do QA work before the release. Other than H2O fully edited, we have Tsuma Netori is at 40% translated, Akagoei 3 is at 33.8% translated, and 631 out of 2499 (More than a quarter) main script of Fate/Extra CCC are edited. I knew that Quof already drop his Lovely x Cation 2 and posted a quarter translated script on 4chan, although I already move on ever since Quof work with Mangagamer, so whatever. Good luck to whoever pick the slack and decided to continuing the project though. Lastly we have Nekonyan announce the exact release date for Klutzy Cupid, and it'll be on 21st later so you may note the date if you've been waiting for it. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and sorry if this week is quite short here. See you next week. PS - I know about Tsui no Stella release by fan group, although I decided to try comment on it on the next VNTS Review.

  16. Visual Novel Translation Status (25/06/2023) Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as for the title I'll explain it in PS later. As for this week, it's definitely an interesting one with Nukitashi release despite several shenanigans happening. Other than Nukitashi release, we also has the sequel announced as soon as the first game was released. Of course, we also have other updates, with the most particular one to me is in regard of Clover Day's release. With that done, let's see what I can write in regard of this week. Frontwing announce the exact release date for Grisaia Chronos Rebellion on July 27th, and I can only say 'Yeah, okay. Whatever'. Admittedly speaking it could be good announcement from Frontwing, had they announced it in... 2011. My point is that while Grisaia franchise is indeed good VN, nowadays there are more translated VNs compared to back when Kajitsu was released in 2011. Cherry Kiss did release their nukige (It's Mommy Sensei: Horny Homework for the reminder), and I find that the premise is quite unique with the ugly male MC got support from very sexy (And big breasted) principal to do his revenge quest from being bullied. Go get the VN if you're already waiting for it, and have fun. This week we have H2O show some significant progress, with the current progress of the editing is past three quarter mark (75.12%) edited. Other than H2O major editing progress, we also have Tsuma Netori is at 20% proofread, 400 out of 2499 main script of Fate/Extra CCC are edited, ChuSingura is at 27.92% translated, and Akagoei FD is at 62.07% edited along with 35.63% in QA. We also finally have Alka returned after being absent for a while, and for their recent progress we have Kud Wafter all age version is past three quarter (75.5%) translated with the 18+ version is at 40.1% translated. Speaking of returning, we also have Umi kara Kuru Mono being updated with the current progress is we have 91 out of 138 script files of it are translated. JAST did release Onigokko FD, so in case you want to have little sister route back in the main VN because the little sister didn't have the route in there, go get Onigokko FD and have fun. After several years of waiting (For almost a decade ever since the original fan translation project started), we finally have Nekonyan announced the release estimation for Clover Day's, and it'll be in this August. Granted that it might be placeholder for now, but at least it's better than nothing. Oh yes, Clover Day's itself is already passed the Steam review thanks to Hikari Field submit the new build, and in case you need more proof then you can visit the Store page of it. Shiravune did announce Nukitashi 2 in which it had a new story along with the after stories for the heroines, and no idea on when it'll be released. Anyway congratulation to Qruppo now that we finally have Nukitashi released, especially after their first deal with Sol Press was failed because Sol Press lack of fund. For the premise, well it should be obvious that you better expect a lot of sex scenes because it's title and all. Or if you need more elaboration, it's about the MC Junnosuke who came back to his hometown, only to find out that the town heavily support wild sex with the new law. While it sounds good on paper, turned out that the town is basically become the police state with the government force the people to have sex, and Junnosuke has his own reason to not agree with the policy, so he decided to fight against the law by gathering several allies who've been wronged by the law in one way or another. Go get Nukitashi if you've been waiting for it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week VNTS Review, and see you next week. PS - Since we have Nukitashi release, I figure that I'll just make a parody for one of Mangamer nukige, How to Live a Healthy Hentai Lifestyle, by changing 'Lifestyle' into 'Police State' (Because Nukitashi setting is the police state), so we have 'How to Live in Healthy Hentai Police State' as the title.

  17. Because we have Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- release with Nasu as the writer already have Fate as his most famous franchise, I figure may as well add 'Fate' in the title along with 'Twilight' (Because it's has vampire with Tsukihime also has it) and change 'Blue' into 'Cerulean' (The synonym of blue, and it's because Nekonyan announced Cerulean Day), so we have 'Fate/Twilight Night -Cerulean Glass Moon-' as the title. Anyway as for this week, I can definitely say that it's more interesting compared to the last week, especially with Tsukihime Remake Part 1 translation patch release. While the main highlight is obviously Tsukihime Remake, we also has several other updates, with the most prominent one is that Clover Days passed Steam review (Yes you didn't read it wrong). Overall, like I say beforehand this week is an interesting one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Cabbit announce their newest VN (Kagi o Kakushita Kago no Tori) in English, and you can try the trial in the Steam store of it. What I can say is while Cabbit has some VNs with interesting premise (Including this), it's quite unfortunate that they can't just trust other companies to handle their non-nukige VN, especially because it mean that they'll cut the sex scene. Ultimately, it's not like there's no much interesting VN that are or about to be translated anyway, and if anything else at least Cabbit didn't work together with SakuraGame again. Craftwork delayed Geminism release to September 29th later, which mean they probably has more work left that they're initially thought. Aksys released Jack Jeanne, and from all of their releases it's the only their otome VN that didn't produced by Idea Factory, but instead it's worked on by Broccoli (Galaxy Angel developer). What I know is that the MC attended the school for theater acting, she need to hide her identity as girl because the school is all male school, and it's only available in Switch. Go get it if you've been interested with it and had Switch. PQube announced Konosuba VN, and it has dress up game with the casts (The female main casts) personality reversed because of a curse, so you'll get sadistic Darkness, Megumin embracing her role as lolita, and Aqua act like the proper goddess. Unlike Jack Jeanne, at least PQube also announced the PC version of Konosuba VN. Frontwing announced that they'll release Aikagi After Days in this year, which from what I can gather it's about the after story of first Aikagi with the MC and the heroine will have a lot of fun in summer. Sekai did have several updates, with them about to release Imouto no Seiiki on 26th later along with had Sheol engine work is 80% done. We have Clover Days passed Steam review, and once again you didn't read it wrong, because Hikari Field decided to tweak the build and submit the new build to have it reviewed. For the reminder, the last time Valve did reject Clover Days, so it's obvious that they passed it is a good news. That said, there still some works left before the release, but at least that's one major step got taken care of. For fan translation updates, we have ChuSingura is at 27.13% translated, 275 out of 2499 main script of Fate/Extra CCC are edited, Akagoei FD is at 60.92% edited along with 27.59% in QA, Tsuma Netori is at 35% edited, Planetarian Snow Globe image editing work has been finished, and Yosuga no Sora is at 72% TLC-ed along with 57% edited. We also have new translation project from the former White Album translator, with said project is Aikano that also has love triangle story. For the progress of Aikano, currently 186 out of 4471 lines of it are translated. Other than Tsukihime Remake 1 release, there's another release from fan translation in that it's a VN called Nakoruru, and from what I gather it's about a character from SNK fighting game Samurai Spirits. Oh, and that the VN is only available for Dreamcast. Go get Nakokuru if you're interested with it. Lastly, we have Tsukihime Remake Part 1 translation patch release, in which unfortunately it's not available for PC, so you need to have Switch if you want to to play it. The basic premise here is still like in 2000 version, with our orphan MC Shiki called to live together with his strict young sister Akiha, and he also has power to see the line of death that he impulsively use to kill passerby vampire Arcueid, weakening her in progress because she did use most of her energy to revive. The remake has some differences though, with Nasu filled his idea as much as possible in the new version (Especially on Ciel's route), so much that he need to make it in parts, and so he only manage to release one part of it with he obviously need more time to develop the second part. Nasu here also add more new prominent characters in the Remake, in that it'll be nice to see if Battle Moon Wars or Carnival Phantasm can add them. Go get Tsukihime Remake if you've been waiting for the big release of it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  18. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and sorry for being very late. For the title, because Shiravune just announced a nukige with the premise a succubus dragged the MC into her village which turned out to be populated by succubi (The plural form of sucubus), I decide to make parody of a Yu-Gi-Oh card Secret Village of the Spellcasters by changed 'Spellcasters' into 'Succubi', so we have 'Secret Village of the Succubi' as the title. As for this week, if I may something it's less interesting compared to the last one, but on the other hand we have some updates from fan translation with the most notable one is Ginharu update. Overall, this week is a below average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Cherry Kiss announced yet another nukige, and said nukige is localize as Oppai Samurai with the premise that one very strong female samurai was forced to have sex with the MC who is nobody. While I should say that Cherry Kiss catalogue is not what I keep my eyes on, at least they can provide entertaining localize title and the description as Oppai Samurai description can tell. No exact release date for this as of now, but we know that we'll get see it released in this month. Speaking of exact release date, we finally have Ninetails announced Gaia release date, although unfortunately it isn't in June because of some circumstances beyond their control, but instead they'll release it on July 28th later so you can note the date if you've been looking forward into it. As for the aforementioned VN that Shiravune announced, it's Succubus Sessions: Mami Mamiya's Sweet Slice of Hell with the premise is exactly what I wrote beforehand. It's worth to mention that it's actually Moonstone (Or rather it's child company Argonauts) which as we know is Mangagamer's partner, so perhaps there was some things happened behind the scene with them asking Shiravune instead of their usual partner to localize their VN. Oh yes, it's actually the first part of the trilogy, just like Uchi trilogy in that Mangagamer already released two of it's title. Also I should say that the graphic is very nice, and that we already have the exact release date for it in that it'll be on July 21st later. For fan translation updates, we have Senmomo is at 97.54% edited with side stories is past 90% mark (91.38%) edited, ChuSingura is at 21.86% translated, Tsukihime Remake Ciel's Route Day 12 has been finalized, Tsuma Netori is at 10% edited, Koiyasumi is past halfway (50.58%) edited, H2O is also past halfway (52.2%) edited, and both proofreading and editing work for Planetarian Snow Globe are finished with the translator now finishing up the image along with getting the technical side functional. We also have some translator decided to translate the beta version of Jingai Makyou, or to be exact the trial of the beta version that didn't manage to make it to the final version (The VNDB link of it). I can only say that it may be interesting if you want to see on how Jingai Makyou was envisioned at first. Last but not the least we also have several updates from Daybreak, with Akagoei FD is at 32.18% edited, Akagoei 3 translation work resuming with the current progress is 15 out of 169 script files are translated, and Yuzuki's route of Ginharu is at halfway translated. Or rather, actually it's just approximately halfway translated because it's based on when the translator did ask Irru about the progress a couple of weeks ago with Irru answer that it's about a third translated back then, and the translator estimated that Irru should be already edited half of Yuzuki's route by now. Also in case you didn't like on how there's a number of editing error in Mizuha's route, the translator already addressed the complain and apply the changes, although he decided to released polished Mizuha's route in Yuzuki's patch. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

    Elden Book Review

Since we have someone say that Aoishiro is like 'Dark Soul of Yuri' (Thanks to a huge number of choices) along with Spiral Dystopia release, I did make a parody of a very well known newer game from Dark Soul developer, Elden Ring, with I change the 'Ring' into 'Book' (Because Spiral Dystopia plot is started thanks to the MC hold the mysterious book), so we have 'Elden Book' as the title. Anyway for this week, we have a number of releases, with the most notable one are Akai Ito and Aoishiro releases, although compared to the last week there's no much new title announcements. Overall, I guess we can say this week here is yet another average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. We have Akai Ito and Aoishiro release for Steam and Switch version, and as you know it's GL VN duology with very good graphic, which to say is still looking good even now regardless the problem that popped up in the Steam version. For both VNs, in both we have a girl who have come to the location that happen to have some problem with supernatural, and said supernatural event is meant life or death with the MC need some help from the heroines who have some experiences in dealing with those. The difference is that Akai Ito MC Kei is only a normal teenage girl and thus have no experience in fighting, while Aoishiro MC Shouko is kendo club captain so at least she has experience in fighting. While Aoishiro release is technically redundant because we have the translation for it since 2009, at least in this release we have the interface of this being translated on top have it's HDD size reduced. Go get both VN if you've been waiting for it, and have fun. Frontwing released 2nd work of Milk Factory, and let's just say that you may as well play this for the arts with the heroines are keep constantly suffer back pain because of their big breast, although of course it's okay if you want to just skip it. Frontwing also has announced that they'll localize Grisaia Chronos Rebellion in which if we remember it's their now defunct mobage with the PC version apparently only have the story, and I can only comment that Frontwing surely like to milk Grisaia until it's milk is dried out thanks to the constant milking. Unfortunately Sugar Sweet Temptation release is delayed again, and the reason is apparently they still not finished with the build or something like that. Kagura Games did release Spiral Dystopia back on 26th, and from a first glace it seems to have some nice production value, although turned out that it's a game with some controversial sex scenes. That said, it still has some interesting story (Being chuunige and all) if you can see past that, courtesy of TORI who as we know is the former Rance series writer. Go get Spiral Dystopia if you've been keeping the eyes on it, and have fun. We also have another route for Obedient Women being translated (Now we have 10 stories of it in English), and the new translated route is about Ria Naeho who is not satisfying with her new marriage because she like to have variety in sex (Being young and all), so obviously she seeks that to the man who is not her husband that happen to be in her house. For fan translation update, first of all we have Senmomo is fully translated with the next step is they'll do a lot of works (Including QA) before finally release it with the target is hopefully in this year. Other than Senmomo fully edited, we also have ChuSingura is past a quarter (25.65%) translated, H2O is at 64.2% edited, AND Akagoei FD is at 43.68% edited along with past a quarter (25.29%) in QA. That's all for fan translation updates in this week. Turned out that Shiravune did have yet another project, and said project is One Remake that Nexton create as it's 30th anniversary product. For the reminder One is the work of Jun Maeda before he formed KEY, so naturally there'll be some nakige element in one along with supernatural story. For the remake, there'll be no sex scenes in there so you better not expect it, and if you've been desperate for sex scenes you can read it in old version that has been translated anyway. For the art, I can say that the coloring staff really now on how to make Hinoue Itaru art looking good, so at least her art in One Remake looks better compared to the art in Koropokkur. Oh yes, we already have the exact release date, and it'll be on December 22nd later with the release is also simultaneous release with Japanese version. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  20. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title, because we have Hanako as the heroine in Tamayura Mirai, I made a parody of a manga which also has Hanako (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun) with I change 'Shounen' into 'Shoujo' and 'Hanako-kun' into 'Hanako-san', so we have 'Jibaku Shoujo Hanako-san'. For the info, Hanako here is the urban legend in Japan about the spirit of young girl haunts the school toilet (The article from Wikipedia). As for this week, obviously the biggest release here is Tamayura Mirai, and other than that we have Frontwing announced the exact release date for Milk Factory 2nd VN (On 25th later). Like last week, this week we also have several updates from fan translation along with one release, although said release is more or less an unknown VN. This week here can be said as more or less slightly above average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. The release from fan translation is a VN called Kimi ga Daichi ni Kaeru made, in that once again to be blunt is not exactly my favorite here, but of course some people may think otherwise and find themselves like it, so feel free to get the translation patch if you're curious and have fun. For fan translation updates, we have H2O is at 56.7% edited, ChuSingura is at 23.36% translated, Yosuga no Sora is at 56% edited, Tsuma Netori is at 10% edited, Koiyasumi is at 52.98% edited, and Akagoei FD is at 39.08% edited along with 21.84% QA-ed. Lastly, we have Walkure Romanze update with the translator fully translate Noel's route, which in turn obviously mean Walkure Romanze is fully translated. That said, we still have some waiting before Noel's patch release, because the translator want to do a lot of extra editing and QA in order to make sure that the best possible release. The biggest release for this week is obviously Tamayura Mirai, which if we follow the news closely was actually been delayed from the initial release plan on last April 21st. As for the VN itself, it's created by DMM child company Azurite, which is only natural that Shiravune as another DMM child company got to license this (Then again, we have Nekonyan licensed another Azurite VN Shinsou Noise after a hard battle). For the VN premise itself, we have our MC who is a sorcerer in a backwater village. The sorcerer's task itself is less fighting against evil using his magic skill and more to mediate the possible conflict between human and spirit, which is what the MC will be done in the VN, including having the relationship with two non-human heroines (The aforementioned Hanako and the succubus Midari). Go get Tamayura Mirai if you've been waiting for it ever since Shiravune announce it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and sorry for being quite short here. See you next week.

  21. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. As for the title, because we have ChuSingura Chapter 1 patch released along with Sorcerer's choice, I did change the word 'Chusingura' from Chapter 1 title of ChuSingura (Kanadehon Chusingura) to 'Mahoutsukai' from Sorcerer's Choice Japanese title, so we have 'Kanadehon Mahoutsukai'. For this week, other than the release for both of ChuSingura Chapter 1 and Sorcerer's Choice, we also have the other releases, although those are just nukige. We also once again have Frontwing announce the plan to release Sharin, but we still don't know if they can fulfill it or not for certain. Overall, at least this week is slightly more interesting compared to the last week, although in the end it's another below average one, so let's see what I can write in regard of it. Frontwing did announce that they'll release Sharin in August later, and they'll release the different version with the different resolution (All age version with 16:9 resolution, 18+ version with 4:3). The reason is simply that they only have 16:9 assets for all age version, so they decided to just release it as soon as possible. Also yes as you can see it mean that Frontwing failed to do the ability to change the resolution within the game that they promised earlier, although to be frank it's more or less a colossal waste of time seeing that I didn't see the VN that allow the player to change the resolution (I may be wrong on this). That said, even with I said that what Frontwing did is 'colossal waste of time', at least we should give them a point trying to do it so that the player can enjoy the CG in both resolutions. All in all, let's see if Frontwing will manage to finally release it in August later or not. Cherry Kiss released their nukige called Virgin Knight is my Onahole Tonight, and from what I understand it's about a male vice commander who is born from royal family cover the mistake for his female junior, with said junior is the girlfriend of his female commander. After the incident, the male MC started to teach his commander on how to have sex with male, and turning the commander into masochist while at it. We also have Shiravune released Hypno-Mart nukige, and once again the premise is about a convenience store manager who have enough of a naughty female part time worker give a lot of correction to the worker (Obviously involving hypnotism and a lot of sex). Go get either nukige (Or maybe both of those) if you want, and have fun. Both JAST and Mangagamer released their BL VN, and I can only say that at least it has interesting dark premise. For Mangagamer release (Lkyt), it's about the struggle in a world where demon keep invading humanity, and humanity was only left with a very small part of the world, so yeah it's more or less like Attack of Titan which in turn was inspired by Muv Luv Alternative. For JAST release (The aforementioned Sorcerer's Choice), it's about a sorcerer who need to quickly decide his life choice after his family was attacked by a violent mob, and said choice is whether he'll either chose light or dark. Go get either BL VNs if you interested with those, and have fun. From fan translation, we have Yosuga no Sora is at 70% TLC-ed along with 53% edited, Ciel's route of Tsukihime Remake has been fully edited up to Day 13, and Tsuma Netori is at 30% translated. Lastly we have the patch that translate Chapter 1 of ChuSingura, and the patch here is obviously translate 20.99% of it. For the reminder, while we already have the translated ChuSingura way back in 2016 on Steam, it should be noted that it has some mistranslation on top that it cut the sex scenes along with several other scenes. While I can see on why the publisher cut several contents, it's still too bad that there's no translated version of the removed contents, until now at least. Obviously the patch is still far from complete, seeing that there's still four chapters remain untranslated, but at least now you can have the translation for the uncensored Chapter 1. Oh yes, you can get the patch in this link, although it didn't compatible with Steam version. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  22. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and for this week title because we have Process of Elimination release with a group of detective called Detective Alliance fighting against serial killer, I decided to make a parody from usual title in Kindaichi (And sometimes Conan), so we have 'Detective Alliance Murder Case' as the title. As for this week, honestly speaking it's kind of plain after both of Kunado and Ars Magna release, but on the other hand at least we finally got the release date for Sugar Sweet Temptation along with Sekai gave us some updates. Overall, this week is a below average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. For Process of Elimination, the premise is like what I said above with a group of detectives gather in order to fight a serial killer who already killed 100 people called Quartering Duke. Obviously like in any detective story, nothing as easy as it goes, especially with the elusive killer already mingled with the detectives and decided to challange them with Danganronpa like game. So the chaotic situation ensues with some detectives was enticed by the killer challange and then killed the fellow detective, with all hope to put the chaos to the rest by unmasking Quartering Duke is left to the MC Wato who got called as Incompetent Detective. Go get Process of Elimination if you've been interested with it along with have console (NISA didn't release Steam version of this), and have fun. Cherry Kiss announced a nukige with the premise the MC is the subordinate of a female knight, and they'll release the nukige on 21st later. Speaking of nukige, Fakku released the nukige that have both of kitsune and tanuki, and I have no much to say other than it should be a nice release if you want to see a lot of sex scenes featuring kitsune and tanuki. Shiravune announced a nukige with title Hypno-Mart that they'll release in 25th later, and it featuring the MC doing a lot of correction toward the naughty gyaru who work part time as cashier in a convinient store. Love Lab finally announced the exact release date for Sugar Sweet Temptation, and the said exact release date will be on 28th later, so you may note the date if you've been waiting for it. As for the most recent Sekai updates, we have Chiisana Kanojo is at halfway translated along with 20% edited, Hoshizora Kakaru Hashi is at 10% translated, and Sheol is fully translated. There's also the update in regard of engine work for two of their projects, in which we have Imouto no Seiiki engine work is 80% done and Harumade Kururu engine work is 60% done. While it's obvious that Sekai want to work on Imouto no Seiiki engine as soon as possible, it's kind of interesting to see that there's some significant progress with Harumade Kururu engine work, so hopefully it mean that we finally can have it released in the near future. From fan translation, we have H2O is at 44% edited, Tsuma Netori is at a quarter edited, and Koiyasumi is fully edited along with 34.62% edited. There's also White Album update with it is at 17.48% translated, with the most important thing to note is Yuki's route is fully translated and the translator will work on Rina's route as the next route to be transated. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week. PS - I know there's some Sharin update from Frontwing today, but I decided to save the talk about it for my next VNTS Review.

  23. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and sorry for being very late here. For the title, because we have Soushin no Ars Magna release with it has alchemy school as the part of the story, I decided to make a parody of Mana Khemia because Mana Khemia also has alchemy school, so we have 'Soushin Khemia: Alchemists of Archeus' as the title with Soushin here is the equivalent of Mana (Both 'Soushin' and 'Mana' are the in-game name of the spiritual creatures that had connection with nature) and Archeus is the place setting of the VN. As for this week, with Ars Magna release I can say that it's an interesting week, although of course we also have several other notable updates beside Ars Magna release, such as Anonymous Code exact release date. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week. Cherry Kiss released Sex x Hex, and well feel free to play it if you've been looking forward into it. Speaking of exact release date, we have JAST and Aksys announced the exact release date for their VNs. As for which VN, JAST will release Sorcerer's Choice on 21st while Aksys will release Koinegau on May 18th later. As for Anonymous Code release date, I did late to know this but better late than never. Anyway, Spike Chunsoft will release it on September 8th later, so you may note the date if you want to play it. It also will be available for PC, so you didn't need to buy the console to play it. Last but not the least, we finally have Shiravune announced the exact release date for Tamayura Mirai, and it'll be on May 12th later. Forgot to mention that we also have Bishoujo Mangekyou 2.5 release, or if you prefer translated title it would be 'Kaleidoscope Beauty: You were the Girl (I Knew) Back Then'. The premise is about a man visited his lover who work as a waitress of a hot spring inn in the middle of the mountain, and in said visit both couple will have a lot of passionate love making. Well go get the VN if you took a liking of Bishoujo Mangekyou art, and have fun. Almost forgot to mention that it's been in the working ever since 2016, so it's nice to see that it finally fully translated even if it taking almost seven years to have it. For the rest of fan translation updates, we have Senmomo is at 94.63% edited with side stories is at 81.2% edited, Tsukihime Remake Ciel's route day 11 is finalized, Yahiro's rute of Haruka na Sora is fully TLC-ed with Sora's route is at halfway edited, H2O is at 38% edited, and December When There is No Angel is fully translated with TLC work of it has begun. We also have White Album translation project, as in the first White Album in which it didn't have the connection with WA2 except for the vocal songs. The premise for White Album is about Tooya who already has girlfriend Yuki, although currently their relationship has some strain because of Yuki's popularity, so Tooya here can try very hard to maintain their relationship or break up and find a new girlfriend. Oh yes the translator chose the new version, which to say is understandable seeing that 1998 version graphic is quite outdated, although it should be noted that new version is the backport from PS3 version so there'll be no translated sex scenes. For current progress, currently it's been at 16.53% translated. For Ars Magna itself, on paper it gameplay has some alchemy, although turned out it's not as in depth as like in Kamidori or Atelier franchise. That said, the story itself is definitely has some alchemy element, especially the aforementioned Mana Khemia. For the premise, we have Shin who live in Archeus that faced the crisis with a mysterious power corrupted the spiritual creatures resulting in the birth of the monsters, and in order to face the crisis Shin entered the Cagliostro Academy that train the alchemists. After some times, Shin find out that his own hidden power might be the key to resolve the crisis. Like in Venus Blood (Same developer), in here we can either had Shin keep going to do his quest to save Archeus or perhaps give in to the temptation to abuse his power, or in easier word law and chaos routes respectively. Go get Soushin no Ars Magna if you've been interested with it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  24. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and for this week since we have Kunado Kokuki release with it being set in the same setting as Amatsutsumi with kotodama power and all, I reuse the title 'Code Kotodama' from Code Geass parody and adding 'R2' in order to match the 2nd season of Code Geass anime, so we have 'Code Kotodama R2' as the title. Anyway for this week, if I may comment is that it's an interesting one thanks to Kunado release alone, although for the updates there's no much that I can write about. That said, let's see what I can write in regard of this week. Sekai released a NTR VN, and from what I see it's about a man that interact with Fujiki who is a female high school student. The man also like to imagine Fujiki's downfall, in that it involved being in the relationship with the older man. Feel free to try if you interested with it. Another route for Obedient Women being released, bringing all eight routes to be translated. The newest route here is deal with Kisaragi Sayako who is a housewife that suffer from a lot of sexual frustration because she was unable to have sex with the aging husband. Fakku announced they'll release a nukige on Friday later, and from what I see it's about the MC who come back to his hometown met with both kitsune and tanuki. Frontwing also announced a nukige as well, in which it's the 2nd work of Milk Factory with said company has high production value in regard of their VNs, especially with the breasts. Still no release time for it as of now. This week we have two translation patch for underrated VNs release, with the first one is Princess Cage with the premise that the host MC met up with a mysterious 20 years old woman with the MC will have some sort of relationship. Another release is the translation patch for Gakuen Senki, in which it's the VN from Champion Soft (Alice Soft predecessor) that has the MC being a student council president who've been solving the requests from the students with him slowly approaching the secret behind the school. For the rest of fan translation updates, we have Shin Koihime Musou is at 64% translated, Senmomo is at 95.09% edited with side stories is at 82.81% edited, Tsuma Netori is at 20% translated, and H2O is at 41% edited. The biggest news for this week is obviously Kunado Kokuki release, in which I've been suspected that it'll be available on Steam seeing that Purple Software was drastically reduced the sex scenes to 13 which is about half of sex scenes in Amatsutsumi and Aoi Tori, and yes it's available on Steam as expected. The one who publish Kunado is not either Mangagamer or Sekai, but instead Shiravune which prove that Purple Software is indeed very flexible when it come to their partners. For the premise, we have Shin who was found himself in a world where the metal became sentient, and turned out the world is actually the Earth in 1000 years later with the civilization back to the middle age Japan because of the metal sentient. In exchange, the people did develop super strength to fight the metal sentient, although it cause the people forgot about hope and happiness. After find out what happen, Shin decided to do what he can to teach the people both of hope and happiness even with his memories for the most part are gone. Go get Kunado if you interested with it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  25. For this week title, since we have've about to have Kanojo no Seiiki release, I figure I make a parody based on a RPG. Said RPG is Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk, and I changed 'Labyrinth' into 'Sanctuary', so we have 'Sanctuary of Refrain: Coven of Dusk' as the title. For the info, while Sekai chose to localize 'seiiki' as 'Special Place', the most common translation of it would be 'Sanctuary'. The reason on why I chose to make parody of Labyrinth of Refrain is because we have Eri Sendai voiced the main character of Labyrinth of Refrain, and she also voiced the main heroine of Kanojo no Seiiki. As for this week, while there's no significant release at least we have a bunch of update from Nekonyan, and that we have the exact release date for Tokyo Necro. Overall this week is a slightly above average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. As for the aforementioned Tokyo Necro exact release date, it'll be today and as of this blog post was written it's still not released yet. Speaking of exact release date, because of some circumstances outside of control Shiravune decided to delay Tamayura Mirai release, and therefore the exact release of it is no longer on April 21st (It might be possible that the circumstance is related to the build). That said, the estimation release time is still within Q2 of 2023, so we may have it released before June 30th later. From fan translation, this week we have ChuSingura is at 19.24% translated, Yosuga no Sora is at halfway edited, Akagoei FD is past a quarter (25.29%) edited along with 8.05% QA-ed, and H2O is at 19.4% edited. For Nekonyan's updates, it should also be noted that there's some regression with Baka Moe Heart is at 74% edited and Kakenuke is at 15% translated (Along with 5% edited), although it might be because of the script recalculation find out that there's some more hidden lines to worked on with. For more updates from Nekonyan, we have both of Floral Flowlove and Klutzy Cupid are fully translated along with 60% edited, Shinshou Noise is fully translated and edited, Koichoco is at 17% edited with the porting work to Unity is ongoing, and Enki Dekinai is also at 17% edited. We also have Irotoridori image editing ongoing, Clover Days has additional image editing ongoing, Dracu Riot QA still waiting the build for it from Wamsoft, and Secret Agent is nearly ready for QA. Nekonyan also add one more secret project dubbed as 3rd secret project, with it has been fully translated and edited. For the last update, we have 2nd secret project is already been fully translated and edited. That's all for Nekonyan's updates. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  26. Because we have Tokyo Necro release with he VN has a lot of zombie and fighting against it, I figure that I should make a parody of a manga with similar premise, Highschool of the Dead (Which sadly can never be finished because of the author's passing), by changing 'Highschool' into 'Frozen Capital', so we have 'Frozen Capital of the Dead' as the title. For the info, the kanji 'To' in Tokyo Necro Japanese is meant 'ice', which is different for the kanji 'To' that usually used to write Tokyo in Japanese (Said 'To' kanji itself meant 'east'). As for this week, with a bunch of new title and releases, I can say that this is an exciting one, especially with both of Tokyo Necro and Walkure Romanze Mio's patch releases. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week. Cherry Kiss will release another nukige Sex x Hex on 31st later, and I can say that it involving the prince MC will have a lot of sex with the sisters of three with those three are the witches. Speaking of release announcement, Mangagamer also announced that they'll release Lkyt on April 20th later. Sekai did release both of Kanojo no Seiiki and Slobbish Dragon Princess 3, and I suppose I can say that both VNs are quite good graphically wise, especially with the latter in that another VN from the same company (Unless Terminalia) won Best Graphic category in Getchu 2022 awards. For the premise, Kanojo no Seiiki is about the MC who is encounter his tsundere childhood friend through some dramatic event, and for Slobbish Dragon 3 the lazy MC did encounter yet another sexy dragon. Well go get both if you interested with those, and with this now we have Sekai's backlog slightly thinned out. Ninetail had a new surprise license, and said license is Soushin no Ars Magna in that they already had the release date on 31st later. It's interesting to note that Ninetail didn't use their usual partner JAST to help with the localization, but instead they ask a less known publisher to do so. For Soushin Magna itself, from what I see it's about the MC who study alchemy in a world where the man-made Goddess Soushin gone mad and causing chaos. I only know that the gameplay might be not too good according to mod Clephas, so I might need to lower my expectation on this. Other than Ninetail, we also have Shiravune announced that they licensed Kunado Kokuki (Proving that Purple Software indeed very flexible when it come to localization partner) with the exact release date will be on April 7th later. It's also interesting to note that Kunado Kokuki managed to be in Steam, which mean that Purple Software did indeed change a lot of things in order to had it on Steam. For fan translation updates, right now we have ChuSingura is at 19.73% translated, H2O is at 24.2% edited, Senmomo is at 92.56% edited with side stories is at 73.97% edited, 4 out of 56 script files for Bishoujo Mangekyou 4 are translated, Koiyasumi ia at 72.72% translated along with past a quarter (26.39%) edited, and Akagoei FD is at 9.2% in QA. For the aforementioned Walkure Romanze Mio's patch release, it should be obvious that the patch will translate Mio's route along with Common, Celia, and Lisa routes. With Mio's patch release, all that left is to finishing the work on Noel's route in which currently it's at 70% translated/edited, and I'll call Walkure Romanze full translation patch as Noel's patch. That's all for fan translation updates. The biggest release of this week is obviously Tokyo Necro. While it's another Nitroplus VN, of course we shouldn't expect this as another Muramasa, but rather expect it as another Gekkou no Carnevale (Same writer and all) with action that was shown in 3D. For the premise, in 2199 the world has experience another ice age (Thus the reason on why kanji 'To' in Tokyo Necro mean ice) on top still reeling from both the aftermath of the big war and the worst pandemic. To make it worse, there's several people who animate the corpse into zombies, and such people are called Necromancer. Our male MC Sooun and female MC Ethica are belonged in an organization that hunt the Necromancer, and the VN itself was started by their mission to hunt one of those. I should mentioned that Ethica is only like female and she never have sex scene with male, so we can say that Tokyo Necro here is half GL VN lol. Go get Tokyo Necro if you've been waiting for it, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  27. Visual Novel Translation Status (01/01/2023) Welcome to my last VNTS Review in 2022, and as for the title seeing that we have Mizuha's patch of Ginharu released with her theme focused on ice skating, I figure that I should make a parody of the anime in regard of ice skating, with one of those is Yuri!!! on Ice. Except in here I made it as 'Yurippe!!! on Ice' with Yurippe is the nickname for one of Angel Beats character, Nakamura Yuri; and both her and Mizuha are voiced by the same person (Sakurai Harumi), so yes this is also the VA joke here. Anyway as for the last week in 2022, I should say that there's no direct update from official company, although on the other hand there's several important updates from fan translation, especially in regard of the aforementioned Ginharu. So overall this week here is more or less an average one thanks to some interesting updates from fan translation, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Since 2022 is almost over, obviously several releases plan for official companies are bust. In fact, we have two VNs with released plan for 2022 cancelled. One of those VN is the little sister succubus nukige from Sekai, and okay let's moving on. Another one is Tokyo Necro from JAST, which while it's too bad that Tokyo Necro need to be delayed, at least it might be understandable seeing that apparently the engine might be more tricky to work, which contrary to what JAST expect back at AX. If anything else, it seems the test of it is still ongoing (Alongside Gears of Dragoon 2), so hopefully we may have it released on the next year if all goes well. Almost forget that we have another story released in Obedient Women, and the story is focused on Itsuka Shinonome who is the wife on a liquor store owner. For fan translation updates, we have Chronos is at 90% translated, Senmomo is at 83.67% edited with Chapter 6 was fully edited (For the info Chapter 6 is the last chapter of Senmomo, so for the next plan the editor will be focusing on the editing the side stories), Asuna's route of December When There is No Angel was fully translated with the translator working on Maho's route as the next route, ChuSingura is at 17.08% translated, H2O is at 77% translated with Yui's route was fully translated along with Hamaji's route is at 36.7% translated, and Eustia is finally reach 99% mark (99.19%) in programming with Licia's chapter is at 95.67% in programming. Speaking of Eustia, PyroCyan did mention that it might be possible to see Eustia's release by June as long as there is no obstable, although obviously the situation can change, so let's wait and see if we can see Eustia's full translation patch release in June later. We also have the fix patch for Chaos Head Noah release delayed because Committee of Zero find that the bugs in the Steam port are much more than they expected, so they decided to keep working on it until it's finished. Before going to Mizuha's patch release, I should mention that Daybreak did help with the translation of Hikari's sex scene translation in Miagete restoration, and for the info it's been at 60% translated. We also have Planetarian Snow Globe update from Snow Ryujin, in that it's already at 88% translated. For Mizuha's route patch release, obviously it did fully translate Mizuha's route so now you can play it if you've been waiting for her route ever since Trip worked on it. That said, the patch still has some flaws because the patch is still not QA-ed yet, so beware on that if you still mind of those flaws. Of course though you can also just get Mizuha's patch directly if you didn't mind it's flaws, and have fun playing her route. For the reminder I didn't call Ginharu full translation patch as Mizuha's patch anymore, but instead I'll call the full patch as Yuzuki's patch, in which it'll be out in early next year if all goes well. That's all for my last VNTS Review in 2022, and happy New Year 2023. See you next year.

  28. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. For the title because we have Rance IX release with the gameplay resembled Mamatoto (So much that we can say that Alicesoft did remake Mamatoto through Rance IX), I decided to make a parody of Mamatoto's subtitle 'A Record of War' by changing 'War' with 'Revolution' (The subtitle Rance IX is The Helmanian Revolution) so we have 'A Record of Revolution' as this week title. For this week, compared to the last week I can say that this is an eventful one, obviously thanks to IX release. That said, we also have some other interesting news, such as Shiravune announced Tamayura Mirai and White Album 2 Mini After Story full translation patch release. Overall this week is quite interesting, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Idea Factory did announce that they'll release Charade Maniacs sometimes around this, although Chinese version here has exact release date in that it'll be released on April 27th later. Whether Idea Factory will release English version on that date or not, we'll see. What I know for sure is that it's an otome VN with the premise that the female MC was transported into another world through kidnapping, and it's only available for Switch. Speaking of otome VN, we also have surprise release of The Crimson Flower That Divides in that it's otome VN with the setting on where female is almost nonexistent thanks to the disease, and our female MC here who had a dark past currently been adopted by the royal family. Currently it's only available on Switch with PC version will be available later, so feel free to try if you have Switch and felt interested with it. Before going to fan translation, I should mention that there's another DLC release for Obedient Women with said DLC is focused on Kurara Hasumi, and that turned out we'll going to have 12 heroines instead of 10. As for fan translation updates, we have H2O is at 9.5% edited, Yosuga no Sora is at 47% edited, Bishoujo Mangekyou 2.5 is fully translated, Akagoei FD is at 13.79% edited, 12 out of 169 script files for Akagoei 3 are translated, ChuSingura is at 18.46% translated, Ruitomo is at 19.51% translated, and Irru is finally starting the editing work on Yuzuki's route. Lastly we have WA2 Mini-After Story full translation patch released (Obviously all of the six drama CDs are translated as well), so go get the patch if you want to read WA2 after stories and have fun. Nekonyan was finally starting the QA works on Clover Days, and for the info it's basically confirmed by the translator himself on his tweet. With Nekonyan also posted several English translation of Clover Days and that it already starting the QA, perhaps we may see it as their next release. Speaking of next release, like I say beforehand we have Shiravune announced Tamayura Mirai in that I sort of already predict it. From what I can gather, Tamayura Mirai is about the MC who is a magician going back to his backwater town with said village has several supernatural creature, and that the MC will spent his life together with the supernatural creature. As for the exact release date, apparently it'll be out on April 21st so let's see if we can see the release on that date later. Lastly we have Mangagamer released Rance IX, and before I'm going with IX I'll mention that Mangagamer will release Nightmare x Onmyouji as their next release on 23rd later. Back to Rance, in here after he recovering from his mistake back in Quest, this time he came into Helman in which it's plaguing with corruption. After Rance came into the country, his acquaintance Patton asking Rance to purge the corruption from Helman by instigating revolution. Seeing that it may help Rance to achieve his current goal, Rance decided to help Patton with Rance demanded Patton to had Rance as the leader of the revolution. Like I say beforehand, the gameplay is like Mamatoto with several casts even resemble the role that Mamatoto characters had. Anyway go get IX if you want more Rance, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  29. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as for the title I'll elaborate it on PS later. This week we have Mirai Radio release by Nekonyan, which as we know it's been previously licensed by Sol Press. Other than that, we also have yet another nukige release by Cherry Kiss. Lastly, we still have several updates from fan translation, with the most notable one is the rough patch release for Shin Koihime Musou. All in all, I can say that this week here is an average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Cherry Kiss released their nukige suddenly back on 17th, and nothing much to say other than once again it's about a female erotic manga artist with big breast who need a nude model, and of course the MC as a responsible man decided to do that roles for the manga artist. Well go get the VN if you want more short length big breast nukige from Miel (The VN producer), and have fun. I know that we have Shin Koihime Musou rough patch release, although at the same time I also see that the editing work is still continuing with the current progress is at 63% edited because the editor still keep working on it. That said, if you've been desperate to play Shin Koihime Musou because of the much improvement compared to the original Koihime Musou, then you can try the patch (The link to download the patch). For the rest of fan translation updates, we have Senmomo is at 89.88% edited with side stories is at 64.59% edited, H2O is at 3.5% edited, Ciel's route of Tsukihime Remake has been fully edited up to Day 12, Koiyasumi is at 45.75% translated, and Yosuga no Sora is at 46% edited. Lastly, we have Akagoei FD is at 13.79% edited with Tsuki's route was fully edited, and with that the editor will be working on Moe's route. Mirai Radio release here is quite interesting, especially with on how it began as Sol Press license before the license plan is bust because Sol Press own financial problem. One way or another, Mirai Radio license was ended with Nekonyan with it finally see some work on it. That said while I admit that I'm quite interested with Mirai Radio in the past, nowadays I feel that it's been overshadowed with Aojashin (Even with the translated Aojashin has controversy). In any case, Mirai Radio here is still interesting on it's own, especially with on how it's the second well received Laplacian VN. In Mirai Radio here, we have the world without radio wave because it been eaten by the artificial pigeon, and in such world we have Sora who encountered Kaguya (Mirai Radio main heroine) with Kaguya herself came off as being mysterious. Go get Mirai Radio if you've been waiting for it ever since Sol Press licensed it, or maybe if you want to see some 'passionate Hitomi Nabatame-voiced love-making' scenes, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week. Also while I know that Shiravune just announce that they licensed Tamayura Mirai as I expected, I'll save the talk about that for my next VNTS Review. See you next week. PS - For the title, since we have the word 'Bocchi' in Cherry Kiss nukige Japanese title (Bocchi de Kyonyuu na Otaku Joshi Youko-san), I figure that I make a parody for one of Bocchi the Rock episode title in which it's also one of Asian Kung Fu Generation song, Enoshima Escar, by changing 'Enoshima' into 'Enbizaka', so we have 'Enbizaka Escar' as the title. For more elaboration, I chose Enbizaka here because we have Mirai Radio with Asakawa Yuu voiced the main heroine Kaguya, and Asakawa here is also Megurine Luka's VA who sang the song 'The Tailor Shop on Enbizaka'.

  30. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and since we have Lorena and the Land of Ruins (Nekonyan's first non-VN license) had Steam store for it (The link to the store) finally opened, I'd make a change in the full title by changing 'Land' into 'Rose', so we have 'Lorena and the Rose of Ruins' as the title. The reason for the 'rose' word is because we have Beta Sixdouze release with the setting is that the word was threatened by a mysterious gigantic alien rose, which would be apt to call it as 'Rose of Ruins'. Anyway, for this week, well let's just say that compared to the last week is almost plain even with the releases, so overall I guess this week is more or less a below average one. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week as well. Cherry Kiss announced yet another nukige, with said nukige is Manga Maker's Mega Milkers with the premise is we have a female erotic manga artist with big breast in dire need of nude male model, which of course said task will fall upon the MC, and obviously both of them will have relationship with they will have sex like a rabbit (Well it's nukige duh). There's still no exact release date, but at least we already have the Steam store for it available. JAST newest BL VN Sorcerer's Choice are already finished the QA process, so I suppose it mean that it's almost ready for the release later. Personally I prefer to see them announced the exact release date for Tokyo Necro, but at least it's good seeing JAST give us the progress on their license even though said license is not what I keep my eyes on here. Shiravune did release Beta Sixdouze, and obviously this is the sequel for Alpha Nighthawk. I still say that I prefer Miriya's design compared to Hanako, but at least it's good that we have both Alpha Nighthawk and Beta Sixdouze are available in English. For Beta Sixdouze premise, unlike in Alpha Nighthawk when Miriya is just the normal human, in here we have Hanako who is found by the MC Yousuke (Almost forgot to mention that we only have one MC in Sixdouze) with Hanako was hinted that she might has something inside her. Once again it should be mention that the setting is has gigantic rose that is capable to launch the thorn that can easily destroyed a city, so of course the casts need to navigate their daily live in the midst of the constant threat. Go get Beta Sixdouze if you want to see the sequel for Alpha Nighthawk from either Steam or Johren, and have fun. For fan translation section, first of all we have H2O translator already finished with the image editing along with almost finished with video editing, and no much to say other than it went well. For the other updates, we have Akagoei FD is at 9.2% edited with Tsuki's route is at 72.73% edited, ChuSingura is at 18.38% translated, Day 10 Ciel's route of Tsukihime Remake is fully edited, Yosuga no Sora is at 44% edited, and Planetarian Snow Globe was fully translated with the translator will moving on to the next steps (ie patch implementation and editing/TLC). We finally have the first part of Sonohana Angel trilogy (The Angels' Longing) available in English, and with this now we have the whole Angel trilogy being translated. For the info, Angel trilogy here is another series of Sonohana with the setting is in the nursing school, which if we know Hakuai it should be obvious that it's another prominent setting for GL romance between each of the students or even the romance between the student and the teacher, and sure enough there'll be some romance in Angel trilogy with we have three couples across the trilogy. It should be mentioned that while the nurse school setting is the same as Hakuai, obviously Angel trilogy here is far lighter than Hakuai with the three couples will have a lot of sex. Go get Angels' Longing if you want to play the whole Angel trilogy or maybe just want to check out the first part of Angel trilogy before trying the rest, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

    Blueprint 2 Review

Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and because we have Inochi no Spare release at the last week with said VN premise is like Germany movie Blueprint, I made the allusion of it by having 'Blueprint 2' as the title, which obviously is not the movie's sequel. As for this week, we have Chaos Head Noah fix patch was released, so you can using it if you've been holding up to play Noah here. Other than that, we also have three Sono Hanabira (Sonohana) VNs released along with Sekai released Qualia. Of course there's still some usual updates, with the most notable one is JAST finally open the store for Tokyo Necro. Overall I say that this week is an average one, especially compared to the last week. Let's see what I can write in regard of this week here. Committee of Zero did release Chaos Head Noah fix patch back on 3rd, so you can get the patch if you've been holding back on playing it because of the bugs (Seeing that the initial release of it has high number of bugs), and have fun. They also have new project to translate another VN, and said VN is Chaos Head Love Chu Chu in which it's the so-called sequel of Chaos Head Noah, although looking from the contents it's more like the fandisc for Chaos Head itself, which shouldn't be surprising if we know DaSH is feel more like Robotic Notes fandisc. As for the current progress of it, we have it is at 65.04% translated along with 6.17% TLC-ed and edited. For the rest of fan translation updates, we have Akagoei FD is at 6.9% edited with Tsuki's route is at 54.55% edited, 6 out of 169 script files for Akagoei 3 were translated, ChuSingura is at 18.34% translated, Kozue's route of Haruka na Sora is at 29% translated with overall is at 70% translated along with 58% edited, and Yosuga no Sora is at 41% edited. Sekai released Qualia, and from what I see honestly speaking I can't say much other than it's the love story between the maid robot and her scientist master, or if you want some anime reference it would be like Chobits. If anything else, at least you can get it Steam so either get it from there or Denpasoft (If you want to read the sex scenes of it as well) if you've been waiting for it, and have fun. Oh yes, we also have several other updates from Sekai. Some of the updates are Chiisana Kanojo no Serenade is at 45% translated, and Yumeiro is at 90% translated. Lastly, we have Kanojo no Seiiki engine is fully done with the additional notes 'Waiting for approvals', which mean that Sekai's next release is likely Kanojo no Seiiki. We have nurse nukige (Japanese name Boku to Nurse) released officially and it's available on Steam, and if we recall it was available as fan translation patch back in 2018 end. It's also interesting to note that Sol Press did show the interest to localize this title out of all VN, although unfortunately it never become true because they didn't have enough money to pay the tax. For more info, the fan translator did admit that he sell out the translation, so at least the translation should be similar to the fan patch one, and of course it make the release become redundant. That said, at least you can get it from Steam if you want to get it legally. Speaking of Steam, finally JAST manage to have Tokyo Necro Steam store opened, and of course they also open their own JAST store for it. That said, there's still no exact release date other than it's estimated to be 'Coming Soon', so for now we can only wait for the exact release date announcement. Like I say beforehand, we have three Sonohana VNs released with the first one is Yuricycle. From what I can see, Yuricycle is all age VN (So no sex scenes) with the premise that Risa need to do diet, and so she decide to do biking thanks to Mai's advice. It also has real live photo as the background, and apparently it's because it's the promotional game about cycling sponsored by Tokyo’s office of Tourism, which to say it make sense if we know some companies did sponsor anime (One of such example is Super Cub that was sponsored by Honda). The other two Sonohana VNs are Angels' Spring Romance and Angels' Promise, in that those two VNs are the second and third part of Sonohana Angel trilogy respectively, with said trilogy change the setting into the nurse school. Note that the translator still working on the first part, so it'll need some time to have the whole Angel trilogy being translated. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and sorry for being late here. See you next week.

  32. Welcome to this week VNTS Review. As for the title since we have Sono Hanabira 13 translation patch released, I decided to just combined it with Precure All Stars New Stage movie with Sono Hanabira, and so we have 'Sono Hanabira All Stars New Stage' as the title. Also yes, I did use the similar title from my past VNTS Review, because back then we have Sono Hanabira 11 in that it also has the all casts with the continuation of their stories, and Sono Hanabira 13 is the second game with the similar premise (Hence I use New Stage as in it's the second trilogy of Precure All Stars movie). Anyway as for this week compared to the last week it's definitely an improvement, especially with the release for both Sono Hanabira 13 and Inochi no Spare from fan translation section, and not to mention that Mangagamer finally about to release IX in less than a month. Overall I can say that this week is an interesting one thanks to the releases, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Sekai did already have Amairo Chocolata 2 was fully in QA along with it listed as 'Pending Approvals', which from what I can understand is that it seems Sekai planned it to be their next release after Qualia. Speaking of Qualia release, Sekai already listed February 3rd later as the release date so you can note the date if you've been looking forward to Qualia. For Sekai updates, I can only say that both are not in regard of Madosoft VNs, so whatever. artlink released another translated DLC story for Obedient Women, and this time it's in regard of Kaede Kagami who is a young wife that is competent in houseworks. Mangagamer announced that they'll release Rance IX on February 23rd later, so you can note the date if you've been waiting for new Rance game, especially for the one who've been waiting for the English version since 2014. Shiravune did license another new title that they'll release on February 10th later, and said new title is Beta Sixdouze which is set in the same world as the prequel (Alpha Nighthawk). While I can't say that I like the design as much as I like Miriya's design from the prequel, the art in Sixdouze is still good, so at least you can note the date if you want to see more of Nighthawk world. I'd also mention that I look forward to see if Shiravune will be able to localize Sixdouze as well, and they prove that they can so good for them. We have Chronos released, and from what I see it's about the spaceship with the female crew that will suffer a lot of rape by tentacle. No much to say other than go get Chronos if you've been looking forward to it or want to see more Black Lilith VNs, and have fun. For the rest of fan translation updates, we have H2O was fully translated with the translator now focusing on the editing works for the VN (Image, script, and video), Maho's route of December When There is No Angel was fully translated and now the translator working on Yukio's route, and Senmomo is at 86.95% edited with side stories was past halfway (54.36%) edited. We also have Committee of Zero announced the exact date for Chaos Head Noah fix patch release, and it'll be on February 3rd later. Yesterday we have Inochi no Spare release, in which it's the well known utsuge with the bittersweet ending. I'd say that I hope that someday it'll get English translation so that more it can be enjoyed by more people outside Indonesian (It's available in Indonesian language for the reminder), and I get what I hope thanks to PyroCyan out there. As for Inochi no Spare itself, while I said that the fictional heart disease is the plot device, it can't be denied that it show on how all human are understandably very fearful of death. That said, while it has fictional terrible disease, the author here clearly didn't ask us to have him explaining on how to cure it, but instead the author ask us to see on how the main couple (Ryuuji and Meguri) who have their days numbered thanks to the disease spent the last days of their remaining life. Go get Inochi no Spare if you want to play sad VN and didn't mind the sadness. I mentioned that we have Sono Hanabira (Sonohana) with all casts, and said Sonohana VN is Sonohana 13 aka Snow White Knight, which is another big Sonohana VN that featured all previous couple with one new couple (Rikka x Sayuki). Which of course, we'll going to see on how the new couple will gradually open up to each other and then have sex. For the reminder, Sonohana series was known as nukige in the past, even with the sex scenes are quite short. By the way, even though I mention that all Sonohana couple will appear in Sonohana 13, only five couple that got their stories, so there's not spotlight for the remaining two couples (Takako x Runa and Shizuku x Eris). That said, there's also Sonohana 14 (Which also translated as well) that featured Shizuku x Eris, so at least technically we have six out of seven couples get the spotlight. Go get both Sonohana if you want to see more GL romance (Or maybe just want to read the whole series), and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  33. Because we have Tsui no Stella English version announced on this week along with Lupercalia update in the last week, I'd make the parody of Tsui no Stella opening (Breath of Stella) by changing 'Breath' into 'Limelight' (From Lupercalia opening 'Limelight no Zanka'), so we have 'Limelight of Stella' as this week VNTS Review title, which obviously it's not my review on the watch with the name Limelight Stella lol. Anyway welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as for this week compared to the last week we have some interesting news with one of those is Tsui no Stella English version announcement, and also the nukige release from Cherry Kiss. Overall, this week is a slightly above average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Cherry Kiss released Kinky Cosplay: Gyarus Gone Wild. From what I see it seems that Miel get the inspiration from My Dress-Up Darling, and they decided to add their mix into it, which obviously including the sex scenes in sexy costumes. Yeah it's nukige all right, and feel free to get the VN if you're interested with it. We also have Kagura Games announced their first VN license (Spiral Dystopia). For Spiral Dystopia, it's written by former Rance series writer TORI, and from what I can see it's sort of chuunige with some rape element. At least the art is nice, and that it's popular enough to get the H OVA. It'll be released within this year, although as for the exact date we still don't know yet. Oh yes, almost forgot to mention that Aksys Games announced that they'll release Jack Jeanne in June later, so you can note the date if you've been looking forward to it. For fan translation updates, we have Chronos is at 90% edited, Senmomo is at 84.6% edited with side stories is at 46.13% edited, 85 out of 138 script files for Umi Kara kuru Mono are translated, ChuSingura is at 18.26% translated, and H2O is at 86.4% translated with Maki's route is at 68.7% translated. This week we have Visual Arts announced their localization plan for this year in their blogpost, with them having planned to have three releases in 2023 (Loopers PC version, Lunaria, and the aforementioned Tsui no Stella) along with one release in 2024 (Summer Pockets Reflection Blue). We already have Alka released the full translation patch for Reflection Blue, so obviously it'll be the redundant release, doubly so with they'll release it sometimes in 2024 later. For Loopers PC release, well it's about time I guess. For Lunaria, we have the MC Tabito who is a top gamer in virtual reality game as T-BIT stumbled upon a girl AI Avatar in Moon server who then introduce herself as LUNAR-Q,. Compared to Lunaria, Tsui no Stella here is more grim (Thanks to Tanaka Romeo writing) with the premise is the MC Jude live in a post apocalyptic Earth accept a request to guard the android, Philia, in her journey. It should be noted that both VNs are better received compared to Loopers, so those VNs should be nice even though both are just short length kinetic VNs (Which may be good for some people who prefer non-lengthy VNs). That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.

  34. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as for the title I shall tell it in PS later even though it should be obvious. As for this week, well to be very blunt not much interesting even with EXTRA2 release, which while admittedly has good production value (Having good graphic and the opening song) on top being one of the better VN in 2022, although in the end it's just a fandisc. We also have Mangagamer released their nukige, and let's just say that said release is not what I want from Mangagamer the most. Lastly we still have some updates from fan translation as usual, so in the end I suppose this week is overall below average. Let's see what I can write in regard of it. Mangagamer did release Hentai Public Service, and once again it's not exactly what I expect from back when Mangagamer announce their December release because I expect Rance IX. Then again, programming the gameplay VN is quite a pain, so perhaps IX still not ready for the release yet. As for the premise, from what I understand in the synopsis we have Jin who is a new public servant on an organization that was tasked to protect the citizen from sexual frustration (Really, that's what the synopsis tell us). So yeah, in here we'll follow Jin and his fellow female workers who dressed in a tacky manner solve the sexual related problem that happen in their neighborhood, and of course they would have a lot of sex being nukige and all. Also honestly speaking I don't find the art is appealing, but different strokes for different people so perhaps some may find the art very exciting. Go get the VN if you want to play it and already been waiting for the release, and have fun. For fan translation updates, we have Chrono's translator released a partial patch that translate three quarter of it, so if you've been desperate to play the nukige then yeah you can try the patch, although it may be better to just waiting seeing that its been already at 80% translated along with three quarter proofread. As for the rest of the updates, we have Shin Koihime Musou is at 61% edited, Ciel's route of Tsukihime Remake has been edited up to day 9 along with has been finalized up to day 7, Planetarian Snow Globe is at 72% translated, Senmomo is at 82.64% edited with Chapter 6 is at 87.75% edited, and H2O is at 67.4% translated with Yui's route is past halfway (59.7%) translated. Almost forget to mention that recently Nursery Rhyme's translator give the update in regard of it, and as of now currently the testing is still ongoing with the crash is still ongoing so that the translator did develop a fix for it Last but definitely not the least, we have Aokana EXTRA2. While I did say that it's just a fandisc, actually it's quite an important release for sprite seeing that they've been bankrupt before even manage to develop this, and they manage to do it thanks to Aokana's sales by Nekonyan. As for the premise of EXTRA2, the most obvious things is that it's Aokana fandisc for Misaki with the timeline is at around her route ending, and interestingly the content is quite different from EXTRA1. Namely that unlike EXTRA1 where the focus is just on how Masaya and Mashiro tried to being the best romantic partner, in here there's some focus on Aokana's main sport, Flying Circus, which make sense seeing that Misaki is one of strong Flying Circus player. While obviously there's still some romance like in EXTRA2, in here Misaki also need to deal with her fame and on how she will take the Flying Circus from now on. Other than obviously put more focus on Misaki, the FD also address a certain plot point that was teased since the main game. Go get EXTRA2 from one of many stores (JAST, Denpasoft, Steam, Mangagamer) if you want more Misaki, and have fun. That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week. PS - As for the title, because we have another Aokana FD (EXTRA2) released once again I did make a parody of Kaleido Star anime by changing 'Star' into 'Sky' just like my past VNTS Review, and I add 'OVA 2' as the subtitle in order to synchronized it with EXTRA2. For more elaboration, Aokana here did have a fictional sports called Flying Circus along with having sky as it's motif and Kaleido Star anime here focused on circus, while as for OVA here it's more or less the episodes that weren't broadcasted on TV so usually the animator would be more daring to draw the contents. By the way I just copied what I did wrote in regard of the title from the VNTS Review back when EXTRA1 released, although obviously I changed the number.

    Tokyo Necro

OK, first I am going to avoid spoilers throughout this review, so I would like those who want to comment to avoid the same, even in spoiler boxes. This is one of those games that is going to be harder to enjoy if you spoil it for those who come after, so I will personally eat anyone who spoils it. This VN is by the same writer who did Sumaga (blech), Gekkou no Carnevale (yay), and Totono (a VN a lot of people here liked). However, the style of story is much closer to that of Gekkou no Carnevale than to Sumaga, thankfully. So, those of you who have heard me bitching about Sumaga need not worry that this is going to turn into a long rant on how horrible anything by this writer is. First, I am going to give you an idea of the basic setting. It is 2199 and the world has plunged into a new ice age (this is actually one of the hypothetical results of global warming irl, if the Greenland glacier slides into the ocean early enough). Up until a decade before the story, humanity was fighting over the warmest areas of the world, putting all their power into a war that was becoming increasingly meaningless. In that war, there were many scientific advances... but the two that are most relevant to the story are Necromancy and the zombie-killing techniques developed by the protagonists' fathers. Necromancy is undertaken by injecting a special type of nanomachines into the human brain after death, turning the individual in question into one of the Living Dead and the person who did the injecting into a Necromancer, capable of moving the undead results at will. The zombie-killing techniques central to the story are the use of one vs many weapon techniques (the basic one is two pistols with muzzle spikes, which the male protagonist uses, though the female protagonist's basic fighting style is based off of the same) in combination with the EX-Brain, an analytical computer that fits onto a person's head and allows them to notice things their subconscious recognizes but their conscious mind doesn't (details the conscious mind filters out), thus allowing the person in question to fight more effectively. Tokyo of the future is a dystopian hell, where refugees from all over the world have gathered, necromancers roam the streets with their armies of the living dead, and bounty hunters (like the protagonists) hunt them for their daily bread. The city itself is kept alive by geothermal heat spread throughout the city by water-filled 'hot pipes' passed through the hot spot underground and circulated throughout the city. Main Characters (protagonists, heroines, and main antagonist) Nagaoka Souun Souun is the son of a hero of the American-Chinese War, who was killed some years ago. On the surface he doesn't show much in the way of emotion, and his fighting style is one where he uses the dual-pistols in combination with his EX-Brain to fight in the most efficient way possible, obeying the suggestions of his own subconscious like a machine. Indeed, he himself isn't really sure he has emotion, and that is one of his major internal conflicts throughout the story as he deals with his personal issues. He is a badass, to put it bluntly... the kind of guy who can re-kill thirty zombies in under a minute without taking a single scratch. His body has been trained using both conventional methods and tailor-made nano-drugs to turn it into a weapon capable of perfectly obeying the EX-Brain's suggestions. Kibanohara Echika Echika is in just about every way Souun's opposite. She is a rebel, preferring to use a chainsaw and shotgun and frequently ignoring her EX-Brain's suggestions in favor of her own impulses. She believes emotions should be immediately be shown on the surface and indulged, and she is more than a little hedonistic by nature. She is also a straight-out lesbian who has no hesitation going after pretty girls. Her outright hatred for her father is the most obvious cause for her rebellious nature and her unwillingness to use her EX-Brain (the horns, as opposed to the full helmet Souun version Souun uses). Hougyou Iria Iria is the main heroine of the story and the focus for most of the events in it. She has extreme synesthesia (look it up), though she is quite functional despite that. Her initial setting, amnesia, is one of the most obvious tropes out there, but it isn't the focus of most of the story. In a world where people are rapidly losing their emotions, both positive and negative, she is a bright, cheerful young woman whose very presence makes people feel hopeful and light-hearted. She is also an otaku. Kijou Mitsumi Kijou Mitsumi is Souun's 'other' potential heroine. She is, like him, a hunter of the undead. However, she uses a katana and muscle-enhancing suit, along with her talent for mapping out the actions of enemies on the battlefield, rather than the style used by Souun and partially rejected by Echika. To be honest, this is one girl who has a singular talent for getting herself into trouble... and a lot of it is caused by her somewhat single-minded personality. She is very devoted to any cause or person she latches onto, but that also means she tends to become dependent on those she attaches herself to, which is the cause of her personal conflict. Aso Kiriri Echika's adoptive older sister. She is the most 'normal' person amongst the main characters, ironically, despite the fact that she is a high-ranking member of the Military Police under Echika's father. She is kind-hearted and constantly worries about the broken relationship between Echika and her father, as she loves them both. She also is very idealistic, believing that her duty as an officer of the law is the protection of Tokyo's people above all other things (an idealism almost unheard of in the somewhat tyrannical Military Police organization). Kon Su Kon Su... is probably the straight-out weirdest character in the VN. She is a hard M (with bold and italics for emphasis), and she has casual sexual relations with both protagonists. She is a professional hacker, information broker, undead analyzer (dissects and analyzes undead bodies and brains to discover the individual styles of necromancers... sort of like forensics), and she is also one of Souun's and Echika's supporters. Unfortunately, explaining her weirdness is not really possible without spoiling the VN, so I'm just going to drop it. Incidentally, her path isn't really a straight-out heroine path, for reasons that will be obvious to anyone who completes one of the paths. Milgram Milgram is the charismatic leader of the Researchers, an organization of Necromancers that believe the only hope for humanity is to escape from emotion through death (extinction). He isn't your standard nihilist, but the philosophy he espouses is. This guy... is the single most powerful Necromancer in existence, which means he is also an extremely emotional person (emotion and artistic sensitivity being requirements for creating the best undead). This guy is flat-out scary, eerie, and freaky. However, in many ways he is a representative of one of the major aspects of the world the characters are living in. The Story For better or worse, this story has a ton of guro and is basically an action-horror story. If you can't deal with heroine deaths, torture, zombification, and occasional rape, this definitely will be hard on you. A lot of effort goes into portraying the most gruesome parts of the story in a way that will be as horrifying as possible, and the heroines don't always escape this particular treatment, so it is best to prepare yourself before jumping in. The lighter points - mostly centered around Iria - actually only serve to enhance the sheer horror and bleakness of the setting, which is basically an extension and enhancement of what this writer did in Gekkou no Carnevale. By nature, any story as full of zombies like this one is going to be dark, and this one really does go to the extremes of the dark end at times. It is really hard to talk about this story without spoiling some of the primary elements (and because I figured out those elements too early due to certain hints, my own reactions were more ones of 'expected horror/sadness', so I'd prefer not to do that to you all). To be honest, emotionally connecting with this story was hard at some points, but as I got deeper into the characters - usually near the ends of the paths - it became a lot easier. In terms of action, this VN is full of it, but it is most emotional toward the end of the paths and in the true route. Kon Su's route serves a purpose different from the other routes, revealing elements of her past that are important to the story as a whole while showing the steel that lies beneath the stuttering, drooling do-M surface of that character. Whereas the other routes have some element of romance, Kon Su's lacks that, and I honestly thought that was for the best (I honestly couldn't imagine any ending where she was romantically involved with either of the protagonists, as opposed to just sexually involved). Ironically, if I were to say which of the routes (other than the true one) touched me in the most positive manner, it would be this one. I really suggest anyone avoid playing Iria's route until you've played all the other heroine routes. It feels a lot more natural if you go into the true route straight after finishing her route, as the true route is in many ways wrapped up the most intimately with hers. The other routes can probably be played in any order without a problem, but I do advise you take my suggestion above seriously. Visuals Normally, I don't talk about a VN's visuals that much, but because of the styles used here, it needs to be mentioned. First, I should mention the action-scene styles. The action-scenes are defined by a type of cell-shaded animation that is very similar to SMT: Digital Devil Saga on the PS2. Literally, the action scenes are animated and combined with highly-detailed battle descriptions to give a degree of depth that is pretty rare even in action VNs. I was doubtful at first, but this VN definitely benefited from using this particular technology (though it probably detonated a nuclear bomb under the budget). The regular visuals, as seen above, are more 'classic-style' Nitroplus, so if you've played a Nitroplus game made since Muramasa, you probably noticed that it is in the same general style. As a result, there is no real need for me to discuss them... except that the way the designers used them was pretty amazing. The dystopian feel of the pipe-wrapped city of Tokyo in 2199 is pretty eerie-feeling and definitely adds to the general atmosphere of the story. The tendency to dress most of the characters in dark or harsh colors (except Iria) was probably intentional, to further add to this atmosphere. This is one of the few times in the last year when I've actually felt that a company went above and beyond when designing every visual aspect of a VN. Audio Musically, this game isn't really unique. The BGMs all feel 'familiar', though they are used effectively to enhance the mood, so I give this VN high ratings for its BGM use, if not for the songs themselves. Nitroplus's use of music shows a tendency to prefer unobtrusiveness and 'enhancement' as opposed to the use of music to 'define' the mood seen in a lot of other VNs (Hapymaher being one of the most extreme examples of the latter). What really struck me is the wide variety of sound-effects, such as gunfire, cutting sounds, etc, and the use of those sound effects. To be honest, the sound of zombies being blown apart by bullets in this VN is going to linger in my ears for quite a while, as is the sound of Echika's 'Rabbit Punch' chainsaw. Overall Overall, this VN is pretty impressive. I can honestly recommend this... though not to just anyone. To be honest, the 'average' VN-reader who prefers moege-variants will probably not be able to stand the darkness of this game. If you don't have a reasonably high tolerance for guro and dark atmospheres, this is going to be a hard VN for you to enjoy. Zombie-lovers will probably flock to this VN by the thousands if it ever gets translated, because it really does draw in a lot of what people like about the 'zombie apocalypse' style movies and TV shows, while giving it a uniquely Japanese/otaku media flavor. However, this VN is emotionally draining, so I do recommend taking it in smaller doses than I did (every minute I wasn't working for the past four days). In my opinion, this VN can be considered a straight-out kamige, but it is also a VN that picks its readers... simply because it is so high-stress.
