While I usually love little sister characters, I think that Kanon is a brat. Tsubaki is uninteresting and too immature, and I haven't seen enough of Shiratori to be able to judge her (though I really like her so far). Haru is awesome.

That's definitely true, but I also feel that the SonoHana series puts much more effort into developing its characters than your average nukige.

It's obviously because she has otaku interests. Girls with otaku interests in anime are always the most popular characters in their respective shows.

Sadly, I watched Seitokai no Ichizon before I got into VNs, so I wasn't able to appreciate any of the references. OreImo was simply amazing, one of my favorite anime. Koe de Oshigoto... don't even get me started on that one. The scene where Kanna gets confused about fellatio is one of my favorite anime scenes of all time. I never understood the appeal of Genshiken, and I didn't really enjoy it. The Haruhi-Chan OVA had a good amount of VN references due to Yuki.

Clannad: After Story. I wasn't a huge Nagisa fan, and I didn't cry for her, but those scenes with Ushio and Tomoya... I was bawling. The story of how their relationship developed is hands down the most heartwarming thing I have ever seen. I hated the ending of the anime due to the fact that it reversed everything they went through as father and daughter.

I guess quality of H-scenes varies from game to game. That's true, I suppose word choice does play a part in creating atmosphere. I totally forgot about the SonoHana series when making this post, the games just... seem to cute to be nukige for me, not to mention that they also put a lot of effort into storytelling, which is very rare for nukige. I also neglected to mention that there are many eroge with terrible sex scenes as well, Key games being the best example I have encountered.

Interactive story-based games done in anime style art with usually no actual gameplay other than choices presented to further the story.

My first VN was Shuffle!. I played it because I loved the anime (to this day, it's still one of my favorites) and was upset by Rin's choice of girlfriend. Thus, I played the game to get the Kaede end. I ended up immensely enjoying the game, and going on to play the other routes, and eventually, other VNs.

There's always been something that has confused me about how eroge and nukige deal with sex scenes. In nukige, it isn't rare for you to hear the characters say the names of the sexual positions/techniques they engage in. However, you hardly ever see this in eroge, which tends to show what is going on, rather than telling. Also, in such situations, nukige tends to use more informal slang words, while eroge leans towards more sophisticated words. For example, a nukige would use 'blowjob' when an eroge would use 'fellatio'. For these reasons, it seems like the games that focus more on storyline than ero scenes put more effort into ero scenes than the games centered around ero scenes, while you would think that this would be the other way around. Seriously, most nukige I've read have ero scenes on-par with your typical fanfiction sex scenes, and for those of you who are not familiar with those, most are VERY, VERY bad. Does anyone know why this might be?

I love imouto anime as well. Wow, it's surprising that you like them if you have real sisters as well. Most guys I've met who have real life sisters dislike incest-related shows.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Shiritsu Sakuranbo Shougakkou (Kodomo-H). I really want to buy some loli games, but the adult section of Paletweb is down right now . Sounds awesome! I got your PM, I'll have to get on there sometime soon. Oh, and Kiss x Sis is awesome. It doesn't insist on having a plot like so many other ecchi shows, and that's what makes it amazing.
