Hello and welcome! I wish my Japanese was good enough for me to be able to read VNs~ And I see that you like the horror genre. It's one of my favorite genres as well.

Any game in which romance and violence are major elements, with a dark story and good writing. If I had to chose a specific game, I would have to say Kara no Shoujo - The Second Episode.

I like pre-installed VNs, though I've never had an issue with ISOs before.

I'm considering play Muv-Luv because Alternative really interests me. Can the people who have played Extra tell me approximately how long the game is?

Awesome! I was worried about the 12-hour plane flight I have to be on in two weeks, but not anymore.

I believe something similar occurred with a game called "Rapelay", though I'm not sure of the details. After looking at the CG set, I have to say that I don't think someone would be so crazy as to try and react a scene from this game in real life, but you never know...

I always play visual novels for the story, never for the ero scenes. In fact, sometimes when I get to a sex scene I am so caught up in the story that I skip it.

I would say look at my visual novel list and see what I rated three and under, but I realize that some of my low votes are due to my preferences. So here you have it, the list of VNs that I would tell most players to stay away from and why: 1. DOR - A collection of three weird and pointless stories written for the sole purpose of the sex scenes you get at the end. 2. Dosukebe Futanarikko ga Hitome wo Nusunde Oogoe de Senzuri ~ Asa kara Zusshiri ☆ Milk Pot 1.5L - Three things happen in this VN: 1. A rich futanari girl jerks off. 2. She becomes an Internet idol for some random reason. 3. The screen turns white and she asks the player (or somebody, it isn't really clear who she is talking to) if they will help her accept herself. It is very weird, and was know as the worst nukige ever written until Dual Phase Soukakurou (Anal mo Vagina mo Hirogacchaimashita) came along. 3. Yu. u. e. n. chi - At first, this just seems like a generic romance/slice of life VN. That is, until you discover that the central conflict in every route, I repeat, every route, is the same. 4. Netorare Oku-sama wa Shojo Kousei ~Ryakudatsukan~ - A teacher finds himself attracted to one of his female students. After he discovers that she is married to another teacher that he hates, he blackmails her into becoming his sex slave. Boring and has some extreme fetish elements if I remember correctly. 5. Dual Phase Soukakurou (Anal mo Vagina mo Hirogacchaimashita) AKA "The Worst Nukige Ever" - The story of the sex-filled life of two loli twins. To complete it, you have to hear the story three times in a row (from different perspectives), which is painful considering how bad it is. There is a lot of extreme fetish stuff and the story is weird. According to saberger of VNDB, this is "the game that you will snap and break the neck of every kitten when you heard its name."

Play all of the Sono Hanabira games that have been translated to English in 24 hours.

I like visual novels with no gameplay at all other than choices to further the story. When I go to play a VN I go to read a story, not play a video game.

I'm personally against it. If word of this gets out to people who aren't familiar with VNs, it could give them a bad name. Plus, the game itself looks like a weird, extreme fetish game.

Very, very true, but there are definitely VNs out there much worse than that.

I'm having the exact same problem as Kizami Nanaya. I have completed the game so I no longer care about the saving error, and the sprite error stops after the first couple of days in the game. My major concern is a problem that has not been mentioned yet; CG mode does not work. ...Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd the new Data.xp3 fixed it.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! When I finish the two VNs that I am playing right now, I'll start Yandere and Corpse Party, and look into the other ones.

Hello Fuwanovel members! I would like your help in finding a VN that: -Has Romance and Violence as major themes. My favorite VNs (Saya no Uta and G-senjou no Maou) are great examples of VNs with both these themes. Other examples of such games (that I have played) are: Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (and the fandisk), Dra+KoI, Kara no Shoujo, and Kikokugai - The Cyber Slayer. Bonus points if the game has detective elements, and extra bonus points if it has horror elements. -Is not a nukige or an otome game. -Has been translated to English. -Is not sappy or too cutesy. Please no Key games, they're not really my thing. -Is preferably of medium or short length. -Is preferably an eroge. -Preferably has only text and no actual gameplay elements other than choices. When I was playing Saya no Uta, a song called "Stop Your Self Control" was playing in my head the whole way through. It has absolutely nothing to do with Saya; it's a fast dance song from a car racing anime and the lyrics are all about sex. Eventually, I though of the song as relating to the game; "stopping one's self control" is kind of what Fuminori did when he decided to pursue a relationship with Saya in his warped world. Due to this, the song really represents Saya for me, and whenever I hear it I recall the fond memories I have of playing the game.

DOR. Hands down the worst VN I have ever played. My obsession with completion + DOR's horrible plots + the fact that DOR does not allow you to save +the fact that DOR does not allow you to skip = my worst VN experience. Thank god it was a very short VN.

I do think using Kickstarter would be a good idea, especially for a game by Key or Type-Moon.

I think that both Ryukishi07's games and Key's games have issues art-wise, but for different reasons. Ryukishi07's art looks very childish, and Key's art has ackwardly drawn bodies.
