  1. Right Stuf doesn't sell much VN stuff (other than the actual games), but they've got a large anime merchandise section.
  2. Ever since I got past the "School Killer Yumiko" scene, whenever the scene switches to a new time/place I get a black screen and the game just stops. It doesn't freeze/quit responding, I just get a black screen. The only way I've found around this is by rapidly hitting Ctrl before a scene transition. Running Ubuntu (Xfce) 14.04 and Wine 1.7.
  3. Confession: I used to play those crappy old Newgrounds dating sims in elementary school - they were really sort of my gateway to VNs. Man, there was this Naruto one I stumbled upon with a really poorly-drawn H-scene that I remember quickly closing and freaking out for days that the police were going to come get me for playing a 'bad' game.
  4. Well if we know one thing, this is one VN which will never see the light of day on the Australian market. (Come to think of it, does Australia get any VNs? Other then Steins;Gate, which got a ridiculous MA15+ - meaning no one under 18 can buy it in certain Australian territories, due to stupid laws that had to be put in place just so adults could be treated like adults - for 'Strong themes, violence and references to sexual violence'. Oh, and Yume Miru Kusuri, which is straight-up banned.)
  5. Ah, the 'artistic value' defense. Though I don't see how LWR is any more worth of the defense than Shiny Days; perhaps the non-sexual length of LWR being longer then that of Shiny Days?
  6. I played Saya no Uta when I was twelve. Screen facing the hallway, living room computer. badass_over_here_lol_meme.png Though I later seriously panicked when I was on a Mac playing Katawa Shoujo with the naked-roommate-except-for-leaf-over-his-willy scene and minimized it when my mom and grandma came in and said they needed to look something up. Macs still show you little mini versions of what you minimized on the bottom bar. Naked Kenji was sitting at the bottom of the screen the whole time they used it. I pray to this day they were both just blind.
  7. There are certain games with plots that just do not work as all-ages. Saya no Uta without the adult content would severely reduce the impact of the game, as well as change the way characters see various characters. Not every game with sex scenes has them just tagged on to sell games.
  8. I haven't read anything about LNs being censored for their US release at all. I think any novel with explicit content just would get a 'parental advisory' sticker. Yen Press' release of Sword Art Online is missing chapter 16.5 (the famous glopping chapter) though, because it's marketed to young teenagers. The Slayers novels released by Tokyopop years ago had some rape references censored, but good luck even getting your hands on some of those.
  9. Saya no Uta is like the troll recommendation for this guy. It's got guro/rape on top of loli H-scenes. Great for any reader who can handle it, yes, but not someone who's a complete newbie and anti-H.
  10. Yeah, I'm fluent in Pig Latin. Hey everyone. I'm just some loser guy who calls himself CatSoul on the Internet. My history of VNs began with reading Saya no Uta, Don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story, and (part) of Katawa Shoujo when I was 12/13, definitely really liking Saya. I remember thinking VNs were a really fascinating concept and I could see myself getting into them, but I just never got around to reading more. Now then in the past...six months or so, my life's kind of become a soap opera of medical and family problems and I need something to get my mind off of it. Thought of these. Already feel better. Currently playing: Fate/stay night - Still on the Prologue, just got this running on my Chromebook last night. Really excited for it. HuniePop - Okay, maybe not. I sort of rage-quitted after the second puzzle because I absolutely suck at Bejeweled and this is just Bejeweled with a harem. And the girls are kind of grating, "OMG FEED ME" *offers food* "No, I can't eat that! Too many carbsssss" Nice to meet you all in advance!
