I guess it depends. There are fandiscs and then there are sequels. Fan discs usually consist of loads of h-scenes for each original heroine and a route for heroines that didn't have one in the original. If you're lucky, some fan discs contain actual plot, like Sharin no Kuni's. IMHHW's fandisc is also pretty good IMO. As for a sequel, well I guess it depends on the developer. I know that Da Capo II is set like 50 years after the original story .

Looks like a game that belongs on Newgrounds and Facebook rather than Steam. Pass. -

To promote as in advertising or publicity? Probably social media? I know I found out about VNs through a Reddit post on /r/gaming. Yeah I know default subreddits are mostly shit, but they're pretty good if you want something to be viewed by people. You'll get tens of thousands of views guaranteed, even up to hundreds of thousands of views. Some of those people looking at those posts are bound to get into the VN scene. The VN scene from what I can gather is pretty tiny ( <100,000 people? Being really generous here) so this is pretty good imo. This was a couple of years ago though so I'm unsure about recently. Reddit is a social media site with lots of fan communities, so I just decided to vote for both in the poll. Steam is also pretty big for promoting VNs. Millions of people use Steam. Millions of potential customers! Exaggeration of course, but it's a pretty big deal to get your game on a storefront where millions of people can view it. Yeah VNs will probably be subject to a lot of jokes, but some people will be genuinely interested. Not real surprising to see VN localization companies translating a lot more all-age titles. Probably raking a lot more cash than when they were just selling their stuff on their own sites. Piracy? Yeah it's big no doubt about it. This is all just about advertisement though. Historically as in the last 25 years though? Dunno, haven't been around that long. A cop out answer would be that all of these sites and organizations have done a lot to contribute to the VN scene in the west and that you can't really give one the most credit as a lot of them are interconnected.

Finished Katahane. It was aight. Strong middle, weak intro and ending. Also that ending song was really unnatural to me. Finally going to read Steins;Gate!

Excited for the two propeller titles even if they aren't 18+. Really liked Ayakashibito so hope those two titles live up to it.

Ayyyy Free Friends 2 sounds good

Discussion The Future of Physical Media for VN Distribution + Poll
the_dive replied to sanahtlig's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Digital for sure. Have to be discreet with VNs.For all age releases maybe I would buy the physical release but even then I would be a little hesitant. Maybe if my gf breaks up with me and I live alone I would buy physical copies but until then downloads all the way. -
In terms of streaming, I think Grisaia and most visual novels in general are far too slow to be streamed. It's sorta like The Witcher 3. A critically acclaimed game, but generally something that's boring to watch other people play. To be fair, the only person I've ever watched stream a VN is SodaPoppin, and he has the attention span of a 5 year old for anything that's not World of Warcraft. Something like NekoPara is pretty easy to stream cause well, bouncing boobs. I mean, VNs in general are very niche. Review copies are nice and all, but only if you can find people who want to actually read/play the VN or if it fits their channel.

Majikoi's already been recommended so.... Ikinari Anata Ni Koishiteru ? Not many choices though. ToHeart 2? Not really colorful cause its an NVL though. Da Capo 2? Short H-scenes though. uhhh.... Konosora with restoration patch? Again not many choices... Yep, Majikoi's probably the only VN translated that would fit your needs that I've played.

Planescape Torment is fucking awesome,go play it. Graphics haven't aged well though at all from when last I played it which was like 6 years ago so you might quit within 10-30 minutes of starting up the game. Generally anything that involves Chris Avellone has good writing in it. On Topic: Not sure if that unpopular, but I prefer comedy in a VN 90% of the time more than drama. Liked the common route in Little Busters more than refrain. Liked the common route in Rewrite more than the specific routes.
