I've no opinion myself but Kobo Glo HD was recently reviewed by PC Mag - http://www.pcmag.com/roundup/294182/the-best-ebook-readers

You might want to consider reading more modern books. With publishing companies losing money, they've recently started cutting down their editing departments significantly, so much so that people are constantly (not really constantly, but constant relative to before ...) complaining of proofing errors. It seems sometimes done by software these days, so you'll get words which are spelt correct but they're the wrong word, and it happens far more often than it used. Which is sometimes funny, cause you see shit like this :3

Well, most of your school friendships don’t survive the transition into adulthood anyway. People change, people move away, it takes effort to sustain a relationship which no longer has many things in common or through an inability to meet face to face. Usually people bond with their workmates (often people spend more time working than with their family,) or they get a hobby on the weekend (like sports … or getting smashed at the pub then getting thrown in jail for something lewd) and they bond over that common activity (bonding with your prison guard is maybe not so wise, though.)

The Old Man and Mr. Smith is the tale of God and the Devil taking a sojourn to Earth to find out whether they’re still relevant. Hilarities and thought provoking moments ensue: http://www.amazon.com/Old-Man-Mr-Smith/dp/0745141072

Part of the reason is also over-saturation. That is, more games released every month, same amount of money going around, thus less for each company. But people can't justify chucking 100 bucks at a glorified novel, not unless you have a fair bit of money. I really do believe Japan companies will come around to shorter, cheaper, installment type games. @Silvz http://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/14393-eroge-sales-201604/ Check out how few units 10th place moved.

I bet it's that kind of bullshit that got acrobatics removed. Or maybe it was because everybody was hopping to their destination like frogs. I agree though, Morrowind best ES game :3

It’s a smile of mirth. You stepped in something, and they’re betting on how long it takes you to notice.

22 million women played otome dating apps in 2014
Darklord Rooke replied to Darklord Rooke's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Why are they so popular? Because women read more than men, they like to read romance, these apps are cheap (or free) and on an accessible platform? Yeah, the medium really needs to attract better writers The suckitudinous in-house translations actually doesn't surprise me, most in-house translations from Japanese companies tend to suck. -
I keep recommending Nodame to people. Best musical anime in existence, imo. People keep promoting crap like K-ON for musical anime, but Nodame’s far superior.

Confession: I don't 'get' modern design. How is this 'modern'? It's not 'modern', it's 'unfinished'! (Image from sales page.)

RIP Muhammad Ali. Great boxer, great wit, great wisdom.

PSP and samurai? Wouldn't be Hakuouki, would it? It's quite a good otome, so you have good taste *nods* -

It’s fairly solid as ‘rules’ go. Men don’t read as many stories aimed at women as women do stories aimed at men, and this holds very true for the romance genre. While men CAN read otome, and some men certainly do, it won’t be in such a great number as to significantly affect the statistic. Think of it as ‘within the margin of error’. -

Is that any different to what was posted? :S But still vastly larger than the PC VN market, considering some of those VNs are also free. I think Fuwa should aim to cover more of the mobile otome market in the future, in news and reviews, that kinda thing. Going by the support mail in Tay's inbox, I believe such a move will create a universal feeling of joy throughout the community. Warm fuzzies in the heart-ular region, even -

Also, eroge need to release their stuff on a portable medium and get off PCs. That and reduce their pricepoints. Not many readers are going to pay 40 bucks for the privilege of being chained to their PC while reading a story. -

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/22-million-women-hooked-otome-romantic-dating-simulator-games-1449353 Interesting. 22 MILLION ey? Mobile market is the future of VNs, and like every other medium the most prolific readers will prove themselves to be women. -
I love long stories done well, unfortunately they often lose their way at some point. My favourite story in a video game is still The Walking Dead, and that was only a ten hour experience. The characters were vivid without 40 hours of 'getting to know you' scenes, the experience powerful, the writing was crisp. The Wolf Among Us was similar, really well told story. (They're not VNs but they'll do for this example ) EDIT: Although I hate replaying episode 2 of TWD. Sorta gross ...

It doesn't sound like you're talking about just VNs here. Most Japanese games with a western release have a publisher to handle physical distribution. I'm sure marketing and translation are reasons also, but stuff like the Atelier games releasing on disc format on consoles, it's much easier to get a publisher for that. The tide is turning in the VN industry because of digital distribution, imo. Why bother getting a publisher if you can just release on Steam? Much easier to just pay for translators in house and release yourself, maybe with a marketer.

Tried to reread 999. Ruined the game for me.
Darklord Rooke replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I've both reread books that I still think are fabulous, and reread stories which are really, REALLY bad. Especially because when we're young we tend to get off on ideas, so the story which got me hooked on reading and writing about 15 years ago was a piece of fanfiction. It was a cross between Highlander and Buffy. At the time I thought it was so fab I printed it out and kept them in binder folders, but upon rereading ... terribly written. Just really terrible. But it's what got me into writing, and reading. You know, immortals and vampires and military weapons combined with male teenagery ... -
Gone Home is a visual novel. Deal with it.

Man, it's much too early in the morning for such heavy reading. I haven't even had a cup of coffee yet, nor a cup of tea ... and now my brain is fried already Mental note: Drink coffee first before reading anything Palas writes.
