  1. That's one of the more serious problems. There's no right or wrong in the world, no fair or unfair, no justice, just actions and consequences. Remove the consequences from the picture and you get a serious section of the community acting like jerks because 'why not.' That being said ... heh, I shouldn't be the one advising people about 'not acting like a jerk'. I do tend to use some underhanded methods to win games (IRL) I play.
  2. BTW, in case it interests anyone, the idea that unqualified people shouldn’t discuss various things is something which is brought up as a downside to democracy itself. 37 million people voted in the Brexit elections, and while they live in that place and the decision ultimately affects them, how many of them actually know the impacts of such a decision? And no, ‘living there’ doesn’t automatically grant you magical insight everyone else doesn’t have. People like to say that because you live there, you should have a say how things are run. I find this an acceptable argument ... as long as those people know how things are run, and actually know what they're voting for. Otherwise I question why this automatic right is even a thing. So if millions of those people are too unknowledgeable to know the impacts, why are they qualified to dictate Government policy through their ignorance? Because they live there? What a quality and well-thought out reason. Consider Joe Doe down the road who voted based on a pack of misinformation and lies, his ignorance affected the decision the Government has made and the future of everybody in that nation. Why should this ever be acceptable? Don’t think the political parties don’t know this, which is why both sides of politics bombard the airwaves with slogans and crap aimed at the lowest common denominator. People who are educated can mostly make up their own mind, but WHA-HEY, look at all these uneducated folk we can sway with a massive scare campaign. This sort of stuff is one of the bigger downsides of democracy. Tyranny of the masses is one thing, it’s quite another when a significant portion of the majority is made up of people who don’t really know. Which is one of the reasons why the voting age should be raised to 25, btw … Now when consider all of the above, you'll start to figure out why disqualifying certain people from 'commenting' on stuff is a Pandora's box. I'm actually waiting for somebody to open it, then we'll all transition to a society led by the intellectual elite ... which will inevitably end in a revolt when that same intellectual elite start culling the population. And no, I haven't been reading too many sci-fi novels. EDIT: I've been seeing quite a few people get annoyed when outsiders start commenting on a nation's internal issues (like that ever concerns America and their citizens when discussing China. Or Russia.) This is one of a few posts I've wanted to make on the issue for a while.
  3. Wha? No fair. Boooo
  4. Game of Thrones and its many sequels ... oh, it says visual novels. Ever 17 (boring. People put too much weight on 'twists') 999 (boring) Sharin no Kuni (didn't like the main protagonist) Kira Kira (this plumbed new depths of boredom I had no idea existed) Clannad (didn't resonate with me. For example, love triangles don't interest me.) Little Busters (dull.) Shuffle (why is this even popular?) MGQ (trash) Fault Milestone (reads like your typical shounen, with a lot of the faults you find in typical shounen) What else is there ...
  5. Heh, does this include watching Merkel and the other European leaders hold an emergency meeting to discuss the Brexit
  6. I said the same thing about Wizardry 8 and still nobody bought ...
  7. It’s a short term shock. What you’re looking for is whether there’s a recovery/correction or a continuation. Money is lost and regained on the stock market fairly quickly. Investors are just holding off to see what the UK's financial situation will be like. Economists are split (like always) on whether a British exit is a good or bad thing long term, I suppose we'll find out. Also the falling British pound will help British exporters (who have been complaining for a while.) David’s resignation was an internal party stoush/power-struggle between the moderates and the conservatives. This was always on the cards, everybody knew Johnson wanted the top job. Just like the Labour leader, Jeremy, has been weak for a long time now and people have been wondering how long before he’s deposed. People elect a party, the party elects the leader, it won’t matter too much except the conservatives will have more of a voice with Johnson in power. Australia’s done this a few times in the past few years and nothing untoward has happened to us. Unless you’re America and have the people directly elect your head of State, then this isn’t cause for panic. Mark Carney is trying to cut off an unjustified panic, which is kinda what you’re doing at the moment It’s all about settling investors’ nerves. There’s nothing to indicate the financial sector is going to collapse like in 2008, where a number of financial institutions fell. The sooner things settle down, the sooner the stock market settles, and the sooner companies return to investing in the UK.
  8. The economy isn't in tumbles, markets just don't like uncertainty. It's actually not an indication of whether the decision was a 'bad one' or a 'good one' at all, nor is it a precursor of what's to come, think of it as the market getting a tremendous shock and not knowing what things will be like in the future. Investors don't like not knowing what things will be like in the future (well, they don't 'know' in any case but they 'think they know' which is usually good enough.)
  9. Whether to accept austerity measures as a means to pay back their debt. They voted 'no', which led to the demise of the PM. The new PM had to install a great many of those measures anyway, so it must have been a bit of a let down. They're close to holding a referendum to leave the EU also, along with a few other countries (just my observation.) One of the reasons Greece is pissed is that they're forced to accept the Euro currency, which is quite high compared to the rest of the world. So they can't lower their currency to help with tourism and exports (I think.) Others are annoyed for other reasons.
  10. There's a decent chance this is just the precursor to the dissolving of the EU *dons observation hat and binoculars*
  11. It's being suggested that traditional Labour voters voted to exit in higher numbers than otherwise predicted, contributing in a not-insignificant way to the result. So let's not leap onto the 'old conservative' bandwagon too quickly.
  12. Grown ups play paintball. Think of it as 'hide-and-seek' combined with 'tag', but you have the added bonus of peppering others with ... paint.
  13. In the future, if any of those become real I know who to blame
  14. I really don't like the interrobang, it's just terrible
  15. That is true. They forgot to factor in the VN community's propensity toward silliness, which would manifest in the objection over an optional package. One that doesn't affect them in the slightest. I'm sure it's a lesson well learnt.
  16. English speakers lose much of that anyway through language differences and as Fred The Barber (I think) already mentioned, not knowing which word or part of the sentence has been modified by the tone of voice (considering sentence structure has been changed.) Because of this, I find the little to moderate nuances I can pick up doesn't offset taking twice as long to read the VN (not as much time these days, and plenty of books to read.) That's a big part of it. If you could understand the voices, it would mean more to you.
  17. Well, that doesn't lower production costs. It instead lowers the barrier of entry for those who aren't interested in voices, which increases chances of making a profit. I like the idea TBH, because I never listen to voices in a VN.
  18. You know what would considerably lower production costs? Scrapping the voice acting. Just saying ...
  19. I get that same problem at times. It's hella annoying.
  20. From what I understand, if you hadn't trolled the chat hard as 'Aei' (after you'd been suspended from the forums for trolling as 'Eai') then you wouldn't have been banned. I'm guessing 'Aei' was banned first, then you were also disappointed when 'Eai' was no longer welcome?
  21. I didn't notice till just then, and now it's all I can see too
  22. If you're not opposed to manga, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is probably one of the better ones going around. People sometimes compare it to Aria, but YKK's a little better, imo.
  23. Something I do every day. Because of how it's revived the RPG genre is why I ALWAYS defend the idea of kickstarting games.
