Templarseeker got a reaction from fuyopon in In Memory of Aaeru (2013-2023)
Many thanks for providing the links to the article about the infamous Aaeru. Such a interesting read!
Hmm all I can about piracy that its a two-edge sword, most people think of piracy as simple file sharing efforts to distribute copies of a cracked software/video game/visual novel onto the masses over the internet. while there some truth to it no denying that. There's another reason why piracy exist as a necessary evil, "Digital Preservation"
Most physical copies of softwares and video games is going to deteriorate overtime like the CD/DVD we had and most companies are not going to support legacy products, abandoning them after their lifespan. The current games are getting shitty and mostly are just cash grab, giving you the urge to seek the good old games from ages past wherein you own the stuffs that you buy instead of renting them...
In addition, Piracy is often a very viable option or perhaps the only sensible choice for people living in Third-World Countries wherein the Internet/broadband Services are somehow overpriced. People are barely getting enough to put food on the table, and their only solace out of their miserable existence is to play games or read visual novels/eroges with their second-hand PC desktops they got from the scrapyards to sooth the burden of existence...

Templarseeker reacted to Zalor in In Memory of Aaeru (2013-2023)
I suppose now's as good a time as any to share an article/blog post I did on Aaeru for a completely different site and thus a totally different audience. I was afraid the article might have been viewed as controversial here since it seems like modern Fuwanovel really likes to pretend it never was a piracy site, and my sympathies with Aaeru and her vision perhaps leak a bit strongly. So I was hesitant to share it here for a while. But at least for me personally, Aaeru left a weirdly significant impact on me despite never really talking to her, so I'll leave this here for anyone curious:
A story from my hometown on the net: Aaeru, the piracy advocate who vanished

Templarseeker got a reaction from MikeB in What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
I've taking a break from playing VIsual Novels/Eroges for the time being and trying to go back my gaming roots lol
Pillars of Eternity The White March: If you're a Infinity Engine Veteran and playing Baldur's Gate 3 somehow seems disappointing, this is one of those games to play!
Gordian Quest: is an epic deckbuilding RPG inspired by old-school classics like Ultima and D&D, using modern gaming concepts like roguelite elements and turn-based strategic combat
Stronghold Warlords: I always like RTS and got bored with the European middle aesthetics, time to play a eastern inspired game this time starting from Vietnam, China then to Japan lol!
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered: I always like the seeing the ballistic X-Ray Kills!

Backing up the rec for Hollow. Easily the best game in the series. The protagonist, Leon is an experimental soldier/commander who was altered by the current leader of the demons to be a counter to divine forces. Game begins with him brutally suppressing a military rebellion.

Last time I did a top 100 Character video was back in late 2020. I've since read a decent amount of VNs and have a bunch of notable updates to make. I also got excellent editor @thelocalweeb1016 to make this look as good as possible!

Templarseeker got a reaction from Plk_Lesiak in The Fuwanovel List of Cool EVNs
Of all of the three titles that I've suggested, I suppose Corpse Factory is the most pretty interesting of the bunch, there are still a couple of other EVNs to mention like the the yuri VNs Heart of the Woods and Highway Blossoms The first Sunrider VN is a decent VN SRPG hybrid, very affordable since its Free on both GOG and Steam. Shining Song Starnova is a interesting title too!
Also is it alright to include Long Live the Queen in the list or not since VNDB does not classify it as a VN and more of a management game rather?

Templarseeker got a reaction from Zalor in The Fuwanovel List of Cool EVNs
Corpse Factory
By the title alone you might think its a rip off of Corpse Party, nevertheless give the VN/Game a try and you'll witness a interesting, gloomy, dark, and semi realistic depiction of modern society. A psychological horror VN at its very core.
In addition this VN/Game has decent English voice acting in it on some of the important dialogues!
Cinders
It is a reimagining of Cinderella with unique art style.
Solstice
Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi thriller of an VN

Templarseeker reacted to adamstan in Giga is shutting down their operations on the 31st of March 2023
Giga's parent company - Entergram/TGL stays in business, so there should be no problem with older titles. It just means no new games under GIGA brand I guess.

Templarseeker reacted to HataVNI in Giga is shutting down their operations on the 31st of March 2023
Giga was very popular and a staple of the Japanese visual novel/eroge industry, but the west barely got any of their first-party titles. We might onlym know them through Baldr Sky actually. Any other giga titles you have played? Which have you looked forward to to eventually get localized?

Templarseeker reacted to Zakamutt in The Fuwanovel List of Cool EVNs
Added. I have to say, Cinders and moacube in general tout something as a feature that I mostly consider a detriment: lots of choices. It makes walkthroughs hard to follow, tends to make content shallow, and often makes walkthroughs necessary which takes me out of the story (unless there is a transparent flowchart system or the like, which I do enjoy). This is or at least was an EVN trend for things that didn't go full kinetic instead, though I think that it's maybe lessened a bit these days.
In contrast Corpse Factory actually has the "few choices" tag on vndb, so good on them for that. I've actually heard good stuff about Corpse Factory from several sources, so it's on my radar.

Big BIG thanks to @shiro1217 for providing me their guide to format on here!
Summary
“I hate everything and everyone,” the girl sneers. Hatred, despair, envy, bloodlust, pessimism, compassion, persistence and anxiety—burdened with all manner of negative emotion, she mutters to herself…. “I want to be happy.”
With his parents moving to America for work, Jinno Kyoji returns to his hometown, Kurehito City, after several years of absence to live with his mother's cousin, the free-spirited Saitama Yamiko. There, he encounters several girls he shares a history with.
Kazuyagi Akane, the strong-spirited tomboy he grew up with.
Namiki Aoi, a gloomy girl who's Akane's best friend.
Misono Kiika, a graceful, good-natured classmate of his from his old school.
In three years of absence, his hometown and its people have changed ever so slightly. Despite some hiccups, Kyoji's peaceful days in his hometown begin.
At least until he meets a mysterious girl on his way to his first day at school. Violet hair. Large, striking eyes. Skin that's paler than the driven snow.
"Welcome home," she says. "My name is Yuka. Remember it."
And wherever Yuka is, one mysterious, inexplicable figure is always nearby—a monstrous man by the name of Gore Screaming Show.
Kyoji's encounter with these two figures marks the end of his peaceful days—as they bring chaos, violence, madness and despair into this world.
Will Kyoji and the girl he loves be able to escape the madness and return to their peaceful days? Or will they—

Templarseeker got a reaction from Duckery in Shiravune released Liar-Soft's Alpha-Nighthawk, a science fiction, mecha VN on Steam & Johren
Agreed... A lot of people in the GOG Forums are getting infuriated regarding the whole ordeal. Why not just release a uncensored one identical to the version found on JAST USA Storefront?
They've released Dead End Aegis on GOG uncensored straight out of the box without any need to apply +18 Patches or DLC. Why not do the same?
In addition to that, the GOG version of Kurokami-sama's Feast still uses the old v1.0.1 version instead of the newer v1.0.2 that the Steam version has which includes so many quality of life features such as adding a CG Gallery and Ending List. Why do they even bother prioritizing the Steam Version in contrast to the GOG Version anyways? Is JAST USA best buddies again with Steam despite the rejection of Muramasa to the Steam Store...
Please also inform @Seryuu about that too aside from the Muramasa patch issue.

GoG is quite good, but the Muramasa patch they have doesn't work, so we really need @Seryuuto report this, so that can be fixed. It has been months!

Templarseeker reacted to Seceria in Helloooo I am Seceria
Helloooo! I am Seceria o.o
I discovered Fuwanovel this November while writing the next episode in my visual novel for this year's nano.
I lurked around here for a day, but come to think of it...
My first visual novel was technically Katawa Shoujo. My friendo in intermediate school told me about it so I played it, which was... an experience. At the time I didn't know that it was a visual novel, or what visual novels were, or that there were more of them.
A few years later I sign up on steam to play Team Fortress 2 with said friendo, and some more years later I discover visual novels on steam. My induction into visual novels was Fault milestone one, which was completely amazing and made me promptly go to read the second one and I am STILL waiting for the next one! Time passes and I consume ISLAND, Lucy the eternity she wished for, Newton and the Apple tree, World End Economica, Heart of the Woods, Doki Doki Literature Club...
Then last year I stumble across RenPy. Armed with the Python knowledge gained from my last year of highschool and first year of university the time had come to see if I could do anything with it. Writing my own visual novel turned out to be a very fun time and so come to think of it, I've read more than one or two visualnovels in the past, and now... I've written one... So I've kinda already become a visualnovel fan somewhere along the way without realizing it...
I have many hobbies - I play videogames (I still play TF2 to this day!), I play piano and compose piano music, I've written script fics and dabbled in a bit of roleplaying in the past, and I'm bad at chess. Let's add coding RenPy and visual novels on top of that, shall we!?
Nice to meet you all!

Templarseeker reacted to ThePenSword in I've had a many fears and troubles publishing my first VN. And so, I want to answer people's questions and talk about the process.
Hello everybody, my name is Jacob.
I'm the head writer and programmer of the OELVN Siren's Call. It took about four years, but we recently completed the project. I'm pretty new to fuwanovel, but can see there's a lot of creatives floating around here that are either trying to make their own VN or are at least interested in the process of what it takes to make one. Because it's such a daunting process (at least for me it was), I want to do what I can to answer any nagging fears or inquires the community has about what it takes to really get to the point where you can finish making one of these things. Lately, I feel like my experiences have just kind of been rotting inside my own head, so I want to use what I've learned for something other than just working on my second project.
If you're making a VN and feel lost/confused about what to do next, how to stay motivated, or even if you wanna know more about what the process is like, then let's talk about it! Be it programming, asset creation, marketing, story-boarding, expectations,...let's get a conversation going about what it's really like to make one of these!

Full Metal Daemon Muramasa (Soukou Akki Muramasa - 装甲悪鬼村正)
JAST Store page (uncensored)
GOG Store page (GOG version uncensor patch)
SUMMARY
This is not a story of heroes.
Since time immemorial, warriors called musha have ruled the battlefield, granted supernatural power by their enchanted suits of armor - tsurugi.
Minato Kageaki is one such musha, driven by duty to don his crimson armor and challenge the greatest evils of an age. But though madmen and tyrants fall to his blade, never will he claim that his battle is right.
For the tsurugi he wields is cursed Muramasa, which five centuries ago brought ruin to the land, and innocent blood is the price it demands in exchange for its terrible might.
"Where there are demons, I slay them. Where there are saints, I slay them."
These words are an oath, the unbreakable Law binding him to his armor. But they also tell the story of his past, and of the future to come.
ENDING GUIDELINE
By default, Full Metal Daemon Muramasa has 3 routes, 2 of them initially unlocked (Hero and Nemesis). Completing both routes allow you to access the true end route: Conqueror.
Other than that, you can complete any of those routes by any order. However, it is recommended for you to go through your first playthrough blind, so you'll be able to get the full feel of this story. To give you some hints:
