  1. Thanks! That was really helpful indeed. Glad to know about the region-locked system of 3DS. The lack of 999 is honestly just a minor convenience since I could still play it as a ROM on my PC. The real problem is Pokemon because the rest of the franchise will be released on 3DS, which doesn't have a working emulator yet... lol Anyway, thanks for those links. They'll help a lot.
  2. That does sound tempting, but only if I like most of those free games in the first place. If it's only a handful of games that I like, Vita is no worse for wear even without free games. I think the PC already has enough of those eroges... which I'm not terribly fond of in the first place.
  3. So I got some cash from the government for voting in an election earlier this year, and now I could finally afford one of my two sought after consoles, the 3DS or PS Vita. The problem is: I could only afford one of them. Which should I get? When it comes to both consoles, there are certain factors that made me want to acquire either of them, so I'll list down my likes and dislikes about both consoles, and I would appreciate it if you could correct me on any of these worries I have: PS Vita Pros Has Danganronpa 2, Virtue's Last Reward without the save glitch, and Digimon Cyber Sleuth. Visual novels have higher quality OP themes AFAIA. I was quite impressed with the Vita OPs of Fate/Stay Night. Some visual novels on Vita seem to have extra content the PC version doesn't have, such as the upcoming American release of Grisaia trilogy. Cons Vita is dead. So people say. The word is that Sony has recently 'killed' Vita... or something. Whatever the actual news about that rumor is, it seems like Vita's future library won't be very promising... not that its prior history was that spectacular in the first place. No backwards compatibility (minus certain PSP games you could buy from PSN). No 999, but has VLR for some reason (and considering the third game's release on Steam, this franchise is really split all over the place across three consoles...). I didn't really enjoy the first Persona game due to its dungeon-crawling, so I'm on the fence about Persona 4: Golden. Unreasonably expensive proprietary memory card required to play games from PS+... wtf. 3DS XL Pros POKEMON! Need I say more? And that franchise is certainly not dying any time soon, unlike Vita itself. Actual 3-D! I've been curious how cool the 3-D looks since I heard it does tricks with your eyes or something. Backwards compatibility. 'Nuff said. 999 and Corpse Party, among some other titles Vita lacks (not sure if Corpse Party is backward compatible with Vita). Animal Crossing actually looks kinda fun in a slice-of-life kind of way. Cons VLR save glitch being the biggest problem. I don't want to have the hassle of copying all my saves throughout the entire game. The DS has a rather poor graphic and sound quality compared to PSP. Not sure if the 3DS could match up to Vita's graphics and sound. The Vita is known for its amazing visual novel OPs, after all. Don't think the 3DS can actually play movie-quality clips like that. Aside from the titles mentioned in Pros, I don't really like what I'm seeing for the 3DS library... I don't like Mario or most Nintendo games. Vita does have a slight edge in having more attractive special editions of visual novels like Grisaia and Fate/Stay Night. Overall, I think my biggest concern is whether if I'll like the game library. I specially highlighted that part about Nintendo games because I'm not a Mario or Sonic fan, and most of the DS games are kinda... iffy, like they're for children or girls. Phoenix Wright has no hold over me because I've never played it before, and I'm not really sure it's really that fun from the looks of it, not being a mystery-buff. On the other hand, Vita has its own share of terrible problems, with the potential demise of the Vita line being the biggest concern. What if a Vita 2 is released shortly after I bought it? Now that Sony's been said to focus its attention more on PS4 and has supposedly abandoned Vita, what will become of its future exclusives? So, what should I do? Which should I buy? More importantly, which console has a better line of visual novels? Any constructive comments would be welcomed.
  4. False. I've come to find them rather corny and saccharine nowadays. At other times, they can feel rather preachy (New Police Story). I hate it when movies force a rigid moral obligation onto an audience like that in sacrifice of a good story. Teaching kids a lesson in morals is fine and all, but when done wrong like Jackie Chan movies, they can feel melodramatic, like a Hallmark Channel movie. Next person doesn't really have strict standards what they like to watch when it comes to movies.
  5. As in staying up overnight? Somewhat true. I have a tendency to do so, but not because I like it. It's just a bad habit I can't help fall into sometimes when I have trouble sleeping, or if some game or anime is keeping me awake. Next person doesn't like lengthy replies...
  6. False. I never really liked those Harry Potter films much. Not really a fan of magic, wizardry, or the fantasy genre. Next person likes fantasy over sci-fi.
  7. False. Next person has masturbated with cup noodles.
  8. Figures. Whenever a design of such ingenuity appears, someone has to involve it with sex, whether it's the branching system of dating h-games (which often has more complex routes than non-sex VNs, ala School Days) or this digital sex doll.
  9. In all seriousness, it's hard to take Trump seriously. His claims are too exaggerated for someone as intelligent as him. Even if he's elected, no member of the UN is going to allow his ridiculous notions. People tend to forget that in this day and age, a president isn't exactly a king, let alone a dictator.
  10. I just keep waiting for Trump to reveal his eventual trollface.
  11. A sentiment which could apply to any series you like. At the end of the day - subjective.
  12. Depends on whom you ask, I guess. Sure.
  13. lol So many titles I haven't read. No surprise though, since a lot of them don't have lots of choices or branches, which I like. Think I'll still give them a shot in the near future.
  14. My problem when I arrived at episode 5 was that it got toned down way too much. I like over-the-top and exaggerated twists. It's fun and keeps me entertained. But then episode 5 came along, and everything just kinda grinded to a halt as soon as My other problem is the infodumping. So much text, and yet the autoplay system is so awkward compared to other titles like euphoria or even G-senjou no Maou. Lines and voices get skipped accidentally very often when I use the auto mode. A huge chunk of information would sometimes be repeated again in later chapters. I guess it's for the sake of recapping in case you forgot what happened about some lore or whatever, but it gets kinda annoying how sluggish the pacing can be due to such dumping.
  15. I know that feel. I'm sad I'd never see an anime that would make me like it as much as Madoka or Bokurano again (well, the manga for the latter anyway).
  16. I think Samuel's too badass to ever use 'lol' as an expression.
  17. There are a lot of other short VNs like Thousand Dollar Soul though. And I'm sure there are plenty of other short ones with less disturbing storyline as well. I could understand not wanting to intimidate newcomers with the length of VNs, but there are bite-size VNs out there that are pretty good too.
  18. Yeah, definitely crazy IMO. I like Saya, but it's so out there and intense it would probably scare a normie away. For a horror fan (or even better, a Lovecraft fan), it might not be so bad, but for those mainstream people, it might be too much. This is one of those cases where I would argue that 'typical' might not be so bad for a normie, albeit not interesting enough to grab a newbie's attention into the VN world immediately.
  19. Except STD's always shit. Some people might find certain flavors of cupcakes shit because of their allergies to good taste, but there are times when they find just the right people with the appropriate set of cupcakes.
  20. Because taste is like cupcakes. Everyone's gotta spread theirs all around.
  21. I don't think he's missing the point. I think Jun hit right on the mark. I don't think KS is the best VN, after all. Call my taste shit if you want. That won't change.
  22. True. I've never actually tasted turkey much, being in Asia and all (with turkey being a more western/European food). I've actually never heard the term "turkey" being thrown around much in Chinese. Next person likes a challenge, no matter how difficult a video game can be.
  23. Most of the answers I'm thinking have already been taken, but I'll just add my two cents. When I first started watching anime as a hobby back in 2010, the first thing I looked up was all the 'top-tier' anime that many considered to be the best. Whether or not 'the best' and 'classic' are mutually exclusive is subjective of course, but I feel that it's worth considering the relationship they share. Code Geass, FMA:B, Clannad After Story, Hajime no Ippo, Death Note, etc. have all shared the MAL Top 10 Anime ranking at least once in the past decade, and I felt those can be considered classics, as do many people here. To add on what others haven't mentioned, Hell Girl. I feel like while it isn't 'the best', this is one of those cases where an anime as uniquely looking as this (in terms of style, if not story) can be considered a classic. It's one of those anime you would look back to and think about when a similar anime pops up because it features such a distinct style that grabs your attention. Attack on Titan is a bit too soon, but I'm sure that will sink in as a classic in the next decade too, though I wouldn't necessarily agree with so since I didn't really find it that unique or amazing... Then again, I disliked the second-half of Death Note. Same with One Punch Man, which a lot of people would be sure to remember fondly. Gintama is a bit niche, but among shounen, I feel like it deserves a spot for being more clever than other shounen titles (and funnier IMO). The same goes for Mushishi, another unique anime that would sure be remembered as a classic anime with a calming atmosphere. It's practically the past decade's "Kino's Journey".
  24. More PTCGO goodness ("goodness"). They've set up a new Versus ladder with new rewards, but it's pretty similar to one of the older Versus ladder rewards a few weeks back, nothing special. Then again, these Versus rewards never seem to have anything top-tier anyway. On the other hand, Pokemon Ash Gray is going well. A few hiccups with difficulty spikes, but nothing a few Gameshark codes won't resolve.
  25. It's okay. It swings between guilt-tripping and awkward disabled sex. Otherwise, it can be cute and 'calming' (more like boring, especially with the low quality sprites and the blend repetitive background scenery), as some have said. I wouldn't recommend it as a first VN though, as it might deceive you into thinking that all VNs are that dull. I think Clannad is better suited as a first VN, being more comical. And comedy is pretty much a universal language.
