  1. Personally, when I was reading Sharin no Kuni, I didn't like the route system at all. Maybe that was due to expectations - I was thinking there was more to the game, but the other routes were the same plot again with a few different h-scenes. I don't like most h-scenes so it just felt like a waste of time to me. Maybe it's not a particularly bad way to do it - this way, you don't have to sit through a route of a heroine you don't care for/hate to get the whole story.. but I guess that would mean her story would just be part of the common route then, which defeats the point. So no, I think I prefer the standard route system after all.
  2. After episode 13, whatever "fun" awaits Subaru, he deserves it Edit: Also, finally we get to see more Felt
  3. I am even more behind, but, I also started watching Re:Zero today. Only 6 episodes in but it's a pretty fun series so far, definitely above my expectations. I hope there's more Felt coming soon, she is best girl for me <3
  4. 3rd episode was nice, I really enjoyed Kotarou running away, it was animated well. Also
  5. Haha, I'm kind of like that too. I don't have any carefully crafted world I imagine, but I often wish I was an exorcist fighting akuma or something xD I wish there was some kind of clear-cut purpose for me in this world, and everything was separated into black and white, evil and good... the real world is too damn grey and boring.
  6. False, don't know what that is. Next person hates public bathrooms.
  7. True I guess, since I did it alone xD Next person has gone into the bathroom of the opposite sex before.
  8. True, I've made several AHK scripts. Next person has gone hiking at midnight before.
  9. False, I didn't cry when my pet died but some VNs made me bawl, so it's not that I can't. Next person has cried from reading a VN or watching an anime before.
  10. Eh... I'd rather make my own Fuwa, with hanafuda and lolis.
  11. Drama, Mystery, Fantasy. I'm a bit fed up with romance, but it's fine with me if it's used for drama. And screw comedy, there's usually way too much of it in VNs.
  12. Theme from a TV show I watched a lot during childhood: And these tracks from two of my first video games...
  13. Loud airheads. Megane. Giant cow-udder tits.
  14. I actually liked this track a lot the first time I heard it, it's one of the better comedy scene tracks IMO. But I'm pretty sick of it by now just because it always plays when that pink blob of annoyingness appears. Chinami is why we can't have nice things. As for the worst one I've ever heard, it would have to be the H-scene music from Sharin no Kuni. God I'm sick of it.
  15. I need this too.. for research purposes False, never tasted anyone else's blood. Next person feels dizzy if they imagine blood, but not if they see it.
  16. I finally caught up on re-watching the old D.Gray-Man series and watched the first episode of the new season today, it was better than expected. Even though it's only 13 episodes, the pacing seems to be more or less fine, and some interesting things are already happening. Surprisingly, they didn't mess up the voice acting too much, short of Lavi. The other characters sound pretty similar to how they did in the old series, even though some of the seiyuu changed. Character art was really shocking to me though, I seriously couldn't recognize some of the characters for the first few seconds. Lenalee looks pretty generic now Might be that I'm just not used to it, I think this art style could probably fit the setting better (they look kind of more like middle-ages aristocrats now), and the mood/atmosphere is improved due to the better background art. Dat cliffhanger at the end though Can't wait for next episode.
  17. It's hard to say... the anime follows an original route, so you technically wouldn't spoil any of the character routes in the VN - but the common route, which is pretty long in the VN, would likely be ruined if you watched the anime first. Anime rushes through the common route at a lightning pace, and it totally breaks the atmosphere in my opinion. I'd say don't take any chances, and read the VN first, then watch the anime - especially if you don't particularly care for discussing each episode as it airs. You could also wait for Rewrite+ which should be coming out at the end of this month (at least in Japan), which will include the route that the anime covers.
  18. Planetarian? I haven't played it myself, but I've heard it's good.
  19. Need to ward off a spirit? Fart on it! It comes again? Sexually harass it! This episode was actually pretty funny compared to the first, and we get more scenes with Akane, so I enjoyed it. Nice to see Tomoko animated, she looks pretty cute. The pacing was still shit though, I was really hoping they'd get it together by the second episode but I guess not :/
  20. It depends, if it's well executed they can be more interesting than the character routes, especially if there's an element of mystery as you are slowly introduced to the setting. Still, if it's a long one I usually fast forward through it for every playthrough except the first and last, which makes it a bit annoying to read those scenes that appear only after you've read a certain route.
  21. Somewhere around 2013-2014 I was looking for anime similar to Steins;Gate, and.. plot twist, I didn't read the S;G VN, instead I found Chaos;Head which isn't really similar but the title has that semicolon so I looked it up. All I saw was people saying the anime sucks and that the VN was better, and the synopsis looked interesting so I tried the VN. Most of it was pretty good, although I was fairly confused about the choice system they had in there and the ending was stupid, but I still enjoyed it. I think I Googled other VNs I could play after that since I was intrigued by the medium, and I found Kana ~Imouto~ on some random site. Played it, but I didn't enjoy it whatsoever, maybe it's because I don't have a sister but I couldn't relate to the protagonist's feelings at all. At least I completed it, unlike CrossChannel, which was the next one I tried to read.. but it was really confusing, so I dropped it and kind of forgot about VNs for a while, reverting to watching anime again. Fast forward to ~October 2015 and I was randomly browsing the internet. I think I saw an ad for some site where you can play browser games for free, and since I was extremely bored, I clicked it. One of the games listed on there was Everlasting Summer, and I saw that it said "Visual Novel" under it. I already was familiar with the term so I checked it out, and a great VN it was. Then I researched VNs again and came across Katawa Shoujo, which ended up being so good I stalled on it (couldn't cheat on Rin after completing her route). I decided to read something else instead, and got a torrent legit copy of Sharin no Kuni which had [Fuwanovel] in the folder name.. so that's when I remembered about this community (I've seen the site a few times before) and started lurking more here, eventually registering. I was a bit bored with anime at that time, so my focus shifted heavily in favor of reading VNs, and I finished Rewrite, Grisaia, and HoshiMemo (almost done) pretty quickly after that. Still, I don't know how some of you guys finished 20+ VNs in two years I guess I'm still not jaded and can still enjoy fairly simple, trope-filled VNs (although I don't like SoL), so for now, I'm sticking to a natural progression and putting off playing more hardcore VNs. You know, why not enjoy them while you can, right?
  22. False, I don't use any of them... yet. Next person made a wish card for Tanabata (which was yesterday).
  23. Ah I see, I don't really watch Shoujo stuff, so I didn't know this was a typical style. Yeah, I'll probably get used to it eventually. Now that I think about it, Chihayafuru had the same character design too, and it grew on me eventually.
  24. Finally got around to watching first episode of Orange, it was alright. The backgrounds are beautiful, but the character art is kind of ugly TBH. The concept with the letters from the future has potential if they play their cards right, hopefully she won't just follow everything they tell her from now on.
