    Hi

Welcome to the forums, it's good to have you. I hope you enjoy the time you spend here. See you around.
  3. Back to SMTIV now that classes have resumed and I need something to play in my downtime. I'm making a slow going of it, but it's a very fun game.
  4. I think a single finely tuned, well-crafted solution that makes sense and just 'clicks' is worth a lot. Of course that comes with the trade off of replayability. I think which method is ultimately better (from a player standpoint) depends on the type of game and the type of challenge presented. Games like Deus Ex, which has an open ended approach to combat, is made better for it. While multiple (less well-crafted) solutions for something like a strict puzzler might be to that game's detriment.
  5. Welcome to the forums. Enjoy your time here. I hope to see you around.

  7. Welcome, it's good to have you on the forums. I hope you enjoy the time you spend here and I look forward to seeing you around. As for recommendations, have you played G-senjou no Maou? If not, it'd be right up your alley considering you enjoyed Sharin no Kuni. You might also enjoy checking into the fandisc, Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo. Oh, and I'd also look into Grisaia no Kajitsu if you haven't already read it. Plenty of action in that.
  8. Happy birthday to Kanpachi. Have a good one.
  9. I'm about 10 episodes into Sword Art Online. I'm mostly enjoying it. It's good looking and it touches on some interesting ideas, though not as broadly as I would like. Not necessarily a fault, that one's more on me.
  10. Welcome, I hope to see you around.
  11. Thanks for sharing. I really liked that.
  12. Redeemed, thank you.
  13. o Nohman’s Land o Map History Founding / Expansion For much of its short, turbulent history Nohman’s Land has had consistent and well defined borders. Its policy of conquest and expansion has been relatively unique. Every decade or whenever a new advancement minister comes to power, a select few vicars are appointed in the name of transforming the cultural and scientific landscape of the country. They are given ample resources and a wide degree of authority to carry out wars, expeditions, secret missions, and scientific and artistic endeavors. This includes kidnapping leaders of industry, top scientific minds, genius artisans, and so on. This means venturing forth with armies, not in the name of expanding borders or acquiring new land, but of securing resources and pillaging technological and cultural gains. Founded in 1837 via a coup of the previous government by the hands of a mercenary band, the country faced 3 decades of political strife until a stable government was able to position itself and secure authority over the people of the land. The following 2 years would prove to be transformative as the government worked through its growing pains, bringing the few remaining autonomous communities that dotted the land into the fold. What came out at the end of all this was an elective monarchy and a government predicated on merit. Law The law of the land is flexible, the chief tenant guiding the law being “achieve.” Exemptions are often made for the end result of an action. Individual cities and towns possess their own unique set of laws, tailored to better facilitate specific purposes and growth. Taxation is made not purely in the form of flat monetary contributions or by a percentage of income, but by an individual community’s contribution to the overall integrity, refinement, and growth of the country’s scientific and cultural core. Cities and towns that don’t blossom into bastions of scientific discovery, artistic merit, or industrial centers are often restructured; an audit is made of each individual citizen, company, and institution. Those that are deemed detrimental or of no use to the community’s growth are removed from the city – either relocated to a city where they can be of better use or forced into indentured servitude, typically low-levels of military service. Other people are then moved in that can stimulate growth and better focus the contributions of the community. Likewise, those lands ‘conquered’ through the great cultural expansions that occur every decade must pay tribute, exacted mostly in the form of a monetary tax, but also sometimes in the form of scientific and cultural gain – works of great poets and artists, new inventions, etc. Notable People Due to the nature of the government (inadequate, ill-performing kings can be deposed by the authority of the advancement minister) and the society, the country’s history is littered with a number of great figures – kings, advancement ministers, vicars, scientists, artists, philosophers, etc. One of particular note is advancement minister and later king, Sareef Hardiman, who fleshed out and refined the country’s philosophy into what it is today. Another individual of note was Queen Asriyah, a philospher queen who nursed the country off its slave industry and outlawed nation-wide the entire practice of slavery. Of all the vicars, Vicar Absat is widely regarded as the prime example of nohmenian strength and resoluteness. A fat, jovial man whose temerity was only matched by his ruthlessness. Combine this with a mind for all things military, and you have a vicar who brought countless tributes and human capital back to the country. A patroness of the arts, Vicar Ru'yah ushered in an artistic golden age to the capital city of New Eden. With her eye for talent and an open coin purse, she commissioned many of the city's beautiful, inspiring landmarks. A blight on Nohmenian history, King Nimr greatly diminished the kingdom's coffers with fruitless projects and vanity driven commissions. Flag For a nation standing proud in the sun. National Anthem A song calling back to the pre-1837 establishment, a time of political apathy, apprehension, and discord. It was a time of technological stagnation and a weak culture taken piecemeal from the surrounding countries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCdEHidtOu8 GDP (nominal per capita) 56,202 (US$) Population 5,621,201 National Motto Beholden to progress. Hello

Welcome and enjoy the time you spend here. I hope to see you around.
  18. [shamelessly] Hachikuji Mayoi: very best girl.
  19. Dicked around with MK9 with a friend and replayed a bit of Arkham Origins. Netherrealm fighters aren't my favorite, but MK9 was decent, gory fun.
  20. Oh goodness, I don't watch hardly any anime and those that I do watch are the ones that come highly recommended. I also don't wanna go with any funimation type stuff from my childhood, so I'll go with Soul Eater.
  21. I've brought this up a few times on IRC, but I'd say: Rin was the best route. Shizune was my favorite girl. Lilly was my favorite route. I totally dig refined/reliable/sweet characters, so I was happy with Lilly's character. The ending was quite hollywood, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. To be honest, I enjoyed all of the routes. There's criticisms to be made of all of them, but they all left a decent taste in my mouth.
  22. My preference on the matter switches. I think I prefer to play blindly (for at least a route or two), but it largely depends on the game. For F/SN I used a guide for the entire thing, collecting up all the tiger dojos as I went along. I also typically try to aim for the bad ends before the other stuff, since I prefer to have the normal/good/true endings be the last thing I experience rather than the bad endings. Just leaves a better taste I suppose.
  23. Played episode 1 of TWD: Season 2. Fucking loved it, it compeltely sold me on playing as Clementine. Most badass 10-year old in fiction. The part where Clementine I hope TWAU episode 2 is next week. I've been quite impatiently waiting for it since mid-november. Very fun game.
  24. It took the day off for the holidays.
