Just realized this movie's kind of an adaptation of Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller and the same year is Captain America: Civil War which is kind of an adaptation of the comic by Mark Millar. So it's Miller vs. Millar next year, which will triumph? Speaking of which, I wonder how this is going to turn out: http://kotaku.com/frank-millers-working-on-another-sequel-to-the-dark-kni-1700033876

Watched up to episode 619 of One Piece and I'm liking how this arc's winding down and am already looking forward to Dressrosa. On a side note, shortly after finishing 619 I just realized you could probably sum up one of the major story segments of Punk Hazard with this :

When one of your earphones breaks...

Nothing really exciting from me, I just go to Walgreens and buy another one since they're only 5 bucks. -
Gotten up to episode 594 of One Piece, this arc's picking up with the alliance with Law. Also watched episode 4 of GaoGaiGar, cheesy as always but enjoyable.

Will you buy Shiny Days from Jast?
BookwormOtaku replied to Soulless Watcher's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'll buy it for collection purposes and since I intend to review it eventually. -
Finished Ayaka's route in Harukoi Otome and starting Sonya's route. Not bad so far, the jokes in this one are pretty funny and Sonya herself is pretty cute, maybe I'll get lucky and end this on another good route. While I don't outright hate this game so far I will admit it's going to be a real relief to have this reviewed and off my backburner (and freeing up hard drive space).

For me it's a combination of good artwork, voice acting and writing either to get a good rise out of me or to capture the emotions leading into the scene and then leading into the former.

What's it say about me if this my reaction to the Hikage mini's pose?

This topic actually reminds me of an Extra Credits episode from a couple weeks ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyWiGL3Ampg

At the moment I'm just curious, I'll be more interested when I know what it's about

How do you get through an anime you're not interested in?
BookwormOtaku replied to Shikomizue's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
You can do the following: 1) Take a break and come back in about 20 minutes. 2) Do a mental riffing. Even as a fan of Evangelion I'll admit it's enough moments to make fun of. I remember even the staff commentaries were often hilarious, especially when they covered this scene: -
Just finished Gara and Puki's intro story in Bullet Butlers (and that brief ero scene with Rais)...now there's a premise for a cop show I'd watch

Worst routes you've ever read in a VN and why
BookwormOtaku replied to starlessn1ght's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Off the top of my head: 1) Lyui/Yuri's route in Before Dawn Daybreak: If I'm going to be a bad guy I do not want to be a stupid one and I don't want to be another bad guy's flunky for 99% of the story. 2) Yuika's route in Harukoi Otome: Both Akihito and Yuika are unlikable and somehow have less chemistry than Anakin and Padme in the Star Wars prequels, the love triangle bit was stupid and out of nowhere and Akihito's self pity monologues are some of the most painful drivel I've ever had to read. 3) Mayuki's route in Guilty the Sin: Does absolutely nothing with the heroine of the route and both my middle fingers up to unavoidable NTR. 4) Makoto's POV story in Desire: A completely unnecessary story and an eye roll inducing pair up of the story's heroine and the most unlikable character in the game. -
Historical fiction/fantasy recommendations
BookwormOtaku replied to SilverLi's topic in Anime/Manga Recommendations
Rurouni Kenshin (avoid the travesty that is Reflection though) Fushigi Yugi (though warning the melodrama can get ridiculous at times) Berserk (read the manga once you finish the anime) Peacemaker Kurogane -
Jim's videos are a constant reminder of why it's great to follow niche games over those favored by the majority. Not only are preorders more worth it ( especially since they can come with artbooks, music CDs and the occasional oppai mousepad B)) , but the developers tend to appreciate their customers. Every upcoming game that I've gotten hyped for has been niche like the next Senran Kagura games, Project X Zone 2, any Kyonyuu Fantasy game and Xenoblade Chronicles X while triple A stuff usually only has me curious but willing to wait for reviews.

Routes with a girl who has Drill Curl hairr
BookwormOtaku replied to Slowpoke's topic in Recommendations
Thing is so far as I've played only the heroine who fits the topic's bill (Riru) and Ayaka have good routes. There's kind of one in Steins; Gate though her ending isn't canon. https://vndb.org/v2002/chars -
What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
BookwormOtaku replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
Just started playing Dragonball Xenoverse, playing as one of Freeza's race mainly because that's the only race that hasn't had a good guy in the series. I've only gotten up to where I meet the Supreme Kai of Time so I can't really comment much on the story but I can say it's been fun to play, but there are some issues. First it can get annoying when you're fighting a large group of enemies and while you're fighting one the rest attack from your blind spot, timed missions get annoying when you have to go from one portal to another to find enemies and sometimes locking onto enemies can get bothersome when they're flying too fast for the camera to keep up with. -
What were some of your favorite games as a kid?
BookwormOtaku replied to Shikomizue's topic in Gaming Talk
I admit I did more reading than gaming from elementary to early intermediate so at that point it was Mario Bros. 3, Kirby's Dreamland, Sonic, and Golden Axe (the latter two I could only play when the Genesis at daycare was free, which was rare). Better in my memory are Vanguard Bandits, Lunar 2, Suikoden, Super Smash Bros., Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Pokemon Red. -
Can you read multiple VNs/routes at once?
BookwormOtaku replied to Nimbus's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I usually pick two untranslated ones to focus on and one translated. The former case I make sure they're of different genres as I figure I'd be in the mood for one or the other each day. Sadly it also means it takes me a while to finish anything -
Do you enjoy controversial or taboo themes/stories?
BookwormOtaku replied to InvictusCobra's topic in Visual Novel Talk
As long as the story's good I don't mind -
I'm curious about this even though I wasn't particularly fond of Man of Steel (will admit it had a few good points though). I really hope this surpasses my expectations because I really want some good DC movies besides ones that feature Batman. While I love the Marvel movies, it's DC that I have a bigger attachment to having grown up with the DCAU and the first comic series I got into was Green Lantern.

Just finished Hiroyuki's route in No, Thank You!!!; interesting revelations and a decent ending. Starting Maki's route and the new unlocked scenes do make the plot more interesting.
