Looking for a VN with specifics mentioned in the thread!
Formlose Gestalt replied to VaroOP's topic in Recommendations
Making*Lovers is being translated. There is one (maybe two?) heroines in high school, the rest seem to be adults. -
Ok thanks for the clarification. I think it is kind of strange that Sol Press put a new "newer and/or lesser experienced" translator on Nukitashi when it is arguably one of their bigger releases. For me it's probably my most wanted release out of Sol Press and Nukitashi has a lot of hype surrounding it and comedy/jokes are pretty hard to translate. Please don't take it as any kind of personal critique, I don't know how good your translations are and since I don't speak Japanese I am in no position to compare your work anyway, I find it just a little odd. (Also I don't know the work of ningen so it's not like I would have any preference.) I guess the amount of translators in the VN niche is just limited, due to the lower pay. In any case I wish you good luck on your work and I am looking forward to Nukitashi!

If you watched the panel he said something to the effect of "we found a bug submitted a bug report to Silky's Plus and they send back a build where it wasn't fixed". So a communication problem basically. Of course that doesn't make it any less frustrating. If that alone can explain a delay from Q1 to July+ I don't know, but it's not like there is anything we can do.

They are still planning for an uncropped 4:3 release that is possibly sold seperatly which would be kind for weird. Does anybody know how the translation is for the official release of G-senjou no Maou? In comparison to the fan translation? When NowItsAngeTime says that the Denpasoft release seems to match the fantranslation, I would reason that the Steam version is as well because it wouldn't make much sense for them to change it for the Denpasoft release.

Since we have a thread for the new Mangagamer announcements I think I might as well post Sekai Project's new announcements. There are three in total: 1. Winter Polaris (Fuyu no Polaris) From the same studio that made Narcissu 2. Sanarara R Translated by Conjueror Opening: 3. How to Raise a Wolf Girl (Kemono Musume no Sodatekata) Clephas worte his impressions down here: The panelist also hinted that they want to work with Sweet & Tea again. Opening: Here is the tweet by Sekai Project: Here are some more info: https://mailchi.mp/sekaiproject/exciting-sekai-project-announcements-at-anime-central-05172019 Also somebody (@Kiriya_Aoi9 on twitter) was kind enough to stream the whole panel so you can watch it here: https://www.pscp.tv/w/1OyKApnXbYLxb The announcement part is pretty short followed by a longer Q&A Session. Some takeaway from that where that we can expect news about Baldr Sky and Nanairo Reincarnation at AX in July. (yay!)

Anime Central didn't have the most exciting announcements for Mangagamer in the past (at least for me), so I am expecting more from Otakon and AX later this year. But Conjueror and Garejei did translate a new project for Mangagamer and I still hold hope that it is going to be another Higashide Yuuichirou/Propeller title. (Evolimit please!)

The upcoming Shitsuji ga Aruji o Erabu Toki / Choose Your Mistress should offer what you are looking for. Beside that I don't know.

Sekai Project 2019 Customer Survey
Formlose Gestalt replied to Formlose Gestalt's topic in Visual Novel Talk
They also posted a survey for Denpasoft: Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/denpasoft2019 It's mostly the same survey as Sekai Project, but they added page with 18+ specific questions and they added a new field where they ask for improvements/criticism , which is a good step. -
Here is the Tweet: And here is the link to the survey separately: http://surveymonkey.com/r/sekai2019 While Sekai Project doesn't ask for specific titles you want to see, they ask which developers you want to see brought over to the west and what developers you want to see more titles from.

How do you choose your first route?
Formlose Gestalt replied to Lord Squiggles's topic in Visual Novel Talk
There is an english walktrough for HoshiOri: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/21841-hoshi-ori-yume-mirai-star-weaving-☆-dreaming-of-the-future/ It is based on the japanese walktrough you been using. -
I would like to see some form of centralized review/impressions aggregator both for Japanese and English releases. There some here and there but do to the nature it easy to miss them. It would be ideal to have these reviews in one place and under one umbrella with the same standards for every review but imagine that would be impossible, but an aggregator would be a great first step. Those impressions/reviews would be more helpful now than ever since there are more english releases then ever before, so I am sure more people need to make decisions on what to read next. Translation critique could also be interesting, but I would expect them to be rare occasion.

Light just posted this link on twitter: http://www.light.gr.jp/important/index.html Google Translate says that Lights' parent company Greenwood Co., Ltd. is dissolving and Light is effectively gone. The Silvario Team is apparently preparing their next game under a different company. Right now I am a bit shell-shocked. This is really sad news. ;_;

And apparently the single CG is not censored for the Steam release. (Says VNDB)

Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart English Release
Formlose Gestalt replied to Antera's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It's the first thing I heard about this VN since they randomly handed out some flyers at a convention that mentioned an English release. Afterwards it was just silence. I guess this VN is getting a translation after all. EDIT: Just skimmed through the page but this is a gem. ^^ -
Nekonyan's Two December Announcements
Formlose Gestalt replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I haven't seen a statement from them regarding physical editions, after the asked about it on their blog. -
My take on this post is that his main point is that the VN community is divided between people that read translations and people that read in Japanese and that this divide is only getting bigger over time? And among Japanese readers there are those that proceed to trash translations which serves to deepen this divide? I don't think I agree with these statements. Obviously there is some sort of divide between people reading translations and the Japanese works. They draw from a different pool of works and what is new and gets discussion differs as well, but I would argue that as more VNs get translated the pool of works that both groups share only gets bigger so there is more common ground for discussion. I honestly haven't witness much of toxicity against the readers of translations. Maybe I don't follow the right places? Ats least I haven't seen this sentiment getting worse here on fuwanovel. As for the "ringleaders of Japanese eroge" I think it is just a function of limited information. Someone that doesn't speak/read Japanese only has so many sources of information about new Japanese titles, so reading impressions by clephas, conjueror or moogy makes sense. If there where only a handful of movie critics and they would be the only source of information before the movie releases years later (if ever) than those movie critics would probably have some kind of following. So some sort of following is inevitable under these circumstances and all of those reviewer are only people that have their own tastes and everyone should keep this in mind. But that is nothing new. No reviewer (of any kind) does reflect my opinion perfectly so I am trusting nobody blindly. That should be same for every kind of review or impression. But regardless of that I can't remember any of those Japanese VN reviewer rally their readers against translations in general, so that point is moot. TL;DR: I don't know if I did catch what the thread opener wanted to say, but I don't think it is a bad as he thinks.

Nekonyan's Two December Announcements
Formlose Gestalt replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I am not really interested in what I have seen from Yuzusoft so far and Senren * Banka is no exception. But Making*Lovers could be interesting. I like that we have adult characters and that it depicts characters already in a relationship rather than the dating phase. -
Nanairo Reincarnation [OUT NOW!]
Formlose Gestalt replied to Formlose Gestalt's topic in Visual Novel Talk
How different the tastes can be. I really like the character designs of Nanairo Reincarnation, but I can understand where you come from. Some art styles are a turnoff for me as well. (I personally find Yuzusofts designs to be really boring.) But for story-focused titles I tend to overlook the character designs and with Nanairo Reincarnation I expect a bit more than just Slice of Life. I am basing those hopes on @Clephas impressions here: -
Nanairo Reincarnation Shops: Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/751450/Nanairo_Reincarnation/ Denpasoft: https://denpasoft.com/collections/games/products/nanairo-reincarnation Denpasoft: 18+ DLC (Free) https://denpasoft.com/collections/dlc/products/nanairo-reincarnation-18-dlc The Steam page for Nanairo Reincarnation is now live with an estimated release in Q1 2019. The Denpasoft version should release at the same time: Sekai Project tweeted that the VN has been approved by Steam. (Even though I guess that could change at any moment given that it is Steam.) One interesting info is that the Steam version will be based on the PSVita version of Nanairo Reincarnation and VNDB has this to say about the Vita version: Has anybody played both versions and can make a comparison how much new content is added and if its worth losing the H-scenes in exchange? And how important are the H-scenes in Nanairo Reincarnation in general? Because if the extra content is worth it I could see myself buying the Steam version. In any case I hyped for this release and hope it will get a good release. I have noted that Sekai Project at one point pushed the title back into QA. Let's hope that is a good sign!
